There’s really so much to appreciate, as you note, about modulating the work of an operating session to plan time during the session to enjoy watching it unfold when we’re not distracted by the orchestration of the session.
It becomes another place that’s conveniently located in my house as a way to take a miniature vacation, while caressing the ego. Thanks for your feedback!
Nice video. I like the concept of “the rest of the word”. That’s how I think about my interchange yard. Your layout is looking great! Thanks for the shout out. Paul B
Very nicely done self layout!! Slowly making set offs and pick ups! However, in a larger club op session, you may get chastised for two horn blasts each direction. Two for forward, three for reverse moves. I don’t use either with industrial nor yard switch move, just bell
Thanks for the feedback! Love slow speeds and how soothing that feels. And I’ve been chastised for all kinds of things I do, from camera angles, or how I run my trains too slow, to using first generation motive power with modern era freight cars: everyone has an opinion on how I should play with my toy trains! I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and opinions as it is the only way to get better and understand how others see the hobby. Having said that, here is a 30+ year old Athearn Blue Box with two in the front and three in the back: ruclips.net/video/Lg0LUcpqQnA/видео.html Love that horn. Thanks for connecting with me!
I'm starting a point to point layout and I have given a lot of thought and keep changing my mind .... You have given me great ideas on how I should go and I thank you sooooo much for your thoughts and sharing what you have done .... I am new and only have 40 subscribers and I want to thank you for giving me hope!!!!!
You flatter me with your kindness but please remember that when I started I was in your shoes! And I didn’t even have 40 subscribers. Keep up your great work and your resilience will be rewarded.
Appreciate the vote of confidence! Still a newbie, so this kind of feedback is greatly appreciated. I'm happy my attempt at clever videography are liked!
My next video won’t be that impressive. My laptop died and I lost all my work. I will post a simple switching video while I get myself sorted. Thank you for your support!
Love the slug. If you are working in a small space like this, you might consider scale couplers. I have a small roster and small space but I'm enjoying super-detailing my cars more than anything atm and it's so satisfying when they couple without having to ram them. I enjoy your vids whenever they come out.
Thanks for the great feedback! Having a small fleet has its advantages and your coupler idea is great. I demand peak performance from them and some will absolutely need to be replaced. Thanks again!
Your ballast (size, shape, colour) is excellent. The rail weathering and ties are great too. The cassette and lead in track is well thought out and perfect for Ops . Operations can be / is very addictive and brings the railroad to life like nothing else. Kudos to you .Very cool video and subject. Well done
Thank you for your support and encouragement. It’s no lie that your masterpiece of a layout with its beautiful scenery is my inspiration. Looking forward to finishing my scenery to be more fully immersed in the experience.
"I'm left wanting more..." That was Bob Hope's mantra throughout his many decades in show biz: "Always leave them wanting more!" It worked well for him, and it seems to work well for you. Your layout provides a venue for both simple and more complex op sessions. Sometimes, just shuffling a couple of cars satisfies the itch. Sometimes it takes a bit more. Either way, your layout can handle it. BTW, I like the patched-out look of your locos. This is how they'd appear on most shoestring short lines, acquired 2nd or 3rd hand after their service on a Class 1 line was done. Repaint jobs, while nice, cut into the bottom line without improving operability.
Thank you for your thoughts! Since getting into the hobby I wanted something achievable and enjoyable. While small, I made the space work for me and it is proving to be exactly what I needed to scratch the itch. Thanks again!

Only one thing better than a diesel with sound......and that's two!
