I love listening + learning from erudite Petter. His warm, wonderful personality + generous heart shows; genuinely cares about his audience. I lived in Djursholm; enjoyed learning Swedish + love his accent! Petter was on unpaid leave due to the decline in travel; tough on a family. He's wise to diversify + get other income streams, while educating the public + staying positive! Very admirable.

I retired as a lead after 35 years of building the 747 empennage in general, and the pressure dome specifically, for this beautiful work of art. I miss the work and I miss the folks I worked with. AO # 1572 was just completed and seeing pictures of her put a lump in my throat ........ 1574 is the last one to be built. No "spares" for the empennage exist. I am grateful to have built every pressure dome since April of 1986, about 1000 of them. So many stories, so many memories....... Please take good care of her for she is the last of her kind ....... 🙂
Thanks for being part of building the plane I most enjoyed flying in, from the heydays of Pan Am and their mostly empty flights to Europe to today's busier flights. Yeah, the 777, 787, A330, 40, 50 are cool, but not as cool, although the 380 comes really close, still 20-30 knots too slow...

I clicked on the link you gave for your follow up interview with Kelsey on his channel, but all I got was: "Video unavailable. This video is private." So I'm declaring a pan-pan on that video.
This is awesome Peter, you should do some videos like this more often with other pilots, they really do show the essence of aviation and what it means to share a passion...there is no rivalry involved 😉👍
Two of my favourite pilots in one video! Being a flight attendant myself your videos are so helpful seeing our day to day routines from a pilot perspective. You both do an awesome job explaining what we do, and it helps me to explain to my passengers. You are both amazing!
I love both channels. I wanted to change career to become a pilot but in the 80s it was too expensive for me. So I spent years as a paramedic firefighter for AFRS, ambulance services and a rescue squad in the US. My ultimate pilot goal was permanently grounded and it ended my ambition. I did get to sit in a BA Concorde Captain's seat at Heathrow when I was working there.
I like Kel's recounting about how he gets around in his flying. That's why l liked sailing so much. Getting around, seeing people; cultures. Oceanic flying is the only flying job l'd want.
Just discovered 74 gear myself (a week or two ago) after being a Mentour fan for just over a year so the timing on this is almost eerie. I'm really loving Kelsey's concise, right to the point style. Also, he looks a lot more like me than pretty boys Petter (sp?) and Joe. :P
I couldn't believe my eyes ... how could I have missed this video for so many years... It's awesomely fun to have you both together! Thanks for this, it brought me a lasting smile. Cheers!
I obviously haven't been watching Mentour for long enough since I'm just seeing this video a year and a half after it was made. I specifically googled "mentour pilot 74 gear" in hopes of finding a video like this and it did not disapoint!
I had been binge watching Mentour, and "accidently" watched 74 Gear and got hooked on it also. Different styles, but for me as a non pilot (I dont even fly much) completely enjoyed , and LEARNED much. thank you both!
In 2018 I flew JFK to MAN on a Virgin Atlantic 747 and I expect it will be my very last flight on a 747. Return to the US was on an A330-300 instead, MAN-ATL
In the eighties I flew from Amsterdam to Tokio vv 3 times in a 747. In those days that flight still was via Anchorage, Alaska! An 8-hour and a 7-hour stretch with like 1 hour inbetween, but the 3rd time it was not so bad anymore, you get used to it quite quickly.
Can't believe I missed this episode from three years ago. I retired ATC in 2014 after thirty years of 'pushin tin.' Owned my own Mooney till I retired. But then stepped into an ERJ for 300 hrs, then the 737-800 for 1000 hrs, now I'm about to retire again. This time from the flight deck of the 747-400. Both of you guys helped immensely with your videos and explanations along the way. Thank-you!
Wonderful collab, Captain! I would like both of you to discuss technical aspects of flying 74 and 73 as you mentioned at the beginning of the video. That would be absolutely fantastic. Thanks!
Oh this is so great! I love that you and Kelsey from 74Gear collaborated on this video! I've been watching quite a few of both the Mentour Pilot and 74Gear videos lately and seeing both of you two great pilots together in the same video is just awesome!! I love it!! You and Kelsey should definitely team up and collaborate more in the future whenever your schedules and locations allow being in the same place at the same time!! Thanks for this - What a great video!
Kelsey, I know what you mean about people coming out to see the plane. I flew the Beechcraft Starship 2000A for about 8-9 years back in the 90s and everywhere we went, especially smaller fields, the who town would line up along the perimeter fence to see what the hell just flew over. That was a lot of fun and we gave tours because we were all really proud of that bird.
I watch and love both channels, but what I wasn’t expecting of two professional pilots was that they would totally GEEK- and FANBOY- OUT! Hysterical and charming as hell. So cool. Thank you both gentlemen. : )
Oh my gosh. What a great thing to see you both together. I really do love both of your videos. I'm not a candidate to fly, I'm a grandma. But son-in-law (so proud of him) is an American commercial pilot and we like to talk about his job, which only made me more curious about how it all works. So he recommended I watch some videos and I found y'all (yes I am from Texas. Dear son-in-law flies Airbus (so different than the views you both provide usually) but I am learning so much just about how it all works which I have always wondered about. I sometimes am nervous flying... I think maybe much less after learning all you both present. Kelsey, you don't look like my son-in-law, but your manner and humor and kindness and unflappability remind of dear son-in-law. You are both just lovely people. I want to say I have (though now retired) learned so much from you comments on CRM and leadership and how one responds to stress. I wish I had that training, in my regular work. Every lesson you offer on these topics, applies to any business or workplace and can make everyone's life so much better. As I tell dear son-in-law...Fly safely, include kittens in your pre-flight (they seem to be showing up a lot lately),, and make sure you find the snacks.
Very slowly Mentour builds his cockpit. First the pillows indicating the "wing tips" and now the Captain sits on port and the First Officer on starboard side. Very cool
LOL, 3rd time watching this video. For some reason RUclips wanted me to see this again. Love both of you guy's channels. Always entertaining and informative. Thanks Petter and Kelsey.
What a treat! Jay from Washington state here just outside Seattle. I was not aware that you two are friends. Every time I watch Peter's channel I think I'm cheating on Chelsey...and visa-versa. Now I can watch BOTH of you guilt-free!! All kidding aside, I love both "74 gear" and Mentor Pilot".
Great to see you two 'chewing the fat'! I've spent most of my life either diagnosing people or machines, depending on which part of my life, and also in education (probably my favorite) but have never become a pilot, except for a brief time in paragliding. So it's a treat to watch you two, either alone or together. Great channels, both of you! 👉
Excellent! My 2 favorite aviation youtubers together in one video, and it looks like Kelsey got to meet Patxi, too. Good stuff. I hope you're both doing absolutely fantastic! ✈
I love watching this ...my old boss was a civilian DOD manager.... he was also a retired Col pilot who flew combat missions in Korea. He would just sit and tell me all these technical stories about aircraft and runways around the world. The point about ;"Hollywood Movies being true" ... As an Infantry Training NCO, and a combat experienced solder (2/502 Inf, 101st Airborne), I know that most REAL combat experienced solders, will rarely, if ever, speak about the actual combat ... we talk about general things, like food, jungle animals, insects, snakes,,, never about our face to face experience, as it is one of the most intense and life changing things a human can experience. If you run into a person who just talks about the details of combat... walk away ... he's probably blowing smoke at you. I have walked out of war movies as it was so very far from the reality, like "Hamburger Hill", about a battle in the " A Shau Valley, west of the city of Huế, along the border of Laos on the DMZ ... the uniforms, how they moved and set up, was not right.... I spent my whole tour in that AO ... but that's Hollywood. great post guys
I'm not a pilot but back in 2008 I had the privilege of sitting in a real 747-200 cockpit (steam gauges and engineer seat intact) right before it was due to be dismantled and scrapped. I was doing some designs for a company called Moto Art and they brought me out to the Mojave bone yard. I consider that a treat not even a lot of commercial pilots have had the opportunity to do. Nothing can prepare you for how high up you're actually sitting when you see it in person. It truly is awesome that something like that flies.
Evan J - Cool, I did my APS MCC in a full motion 747-400 sim, it was good, I like everything Boeing, unfortunately because of the way things are in the industry It’s not something I think I’ll ever meet the requirements for, it’ll be a niche for pilots I think
two of the aviation related content creators that i binge watch in ONE video, love it already. :-) Greetz to both of you and enjoy your stay on this planet :D Marius
Mr Mentor has a name? Peter? That's nice to know! I like that you guys are oriented in the correct positions according to your captain and first officer bars and the navigation light/pillows are also correct. I'm very happy to see both of you guys on at the same time on Mentor Pilot. Kelsey is really fun to watch in his RUclips channel "7 4, gear". I'd like to thank both of you for making the videos that you do for us. I helps me to understand more of the systems and procedures in landing an airliner. I've been a pilot since 1980 and wanted to be an airline captain but life has other ideas and I never got to make it to the big show. I did fly the Microsoft flight simulator and enjoyed doing that. I honestly think I could lad an airliner if I had to.
Excellent! I watch both your travels with great enjoyment so this was a really pleasant surprise. I said "Sully" about a second before Kelsey, although I've not seen the movie, but I reckon that incident is so well known
This is fantastic! Fangirling over here. Kelsey's petting the puppy! Worlds collide! Been watching you both for awhile and just found this. Wish you two could have a series. I need to go watch the other one now.

The 2 best Pilots I want on my flights next year
Great to see two pilots I have a tremendous amount of respect for sit down and talk together!
LOL, 3rd time watching this video. For some reason RUclips wanted me to see this again. Love both of you guy's channels. Always entertaining and informative. Thanks Petter and Kelsey.
just had to paus and say - Great Collab guys!!
Why is Kelsey's video private?
Nice video with the best pilots!!!!!👌👌✈️✈️
I love this presentation. I am subscribed to both of you. More please. I have learned a lot of things from both of you.
I love that pilots love this plane. My dad was a lead systems engineer on those planes. A lot of brain work went into that interface.
So good to see you guys together! Please do more of this
Awesome! I was surprised when I saw the thumbnail
Haha! We aim to surprise! I’m glad you liked it!
My favourite plane: 747. Because, if you’re going to have to manage more than one engine, go for as many as you can.
You want a Dornier Do. X!
All we needed was captain joe then this would’ve been the perfect video I love all three of them
I love watching this ...my old boss was a civilian DOD manager.... he was also a retired Col pilot who flew combat missions in Korea.
Came here as a 74Gear subscriber and fan and left also a Mentour Pilot subscriber and fan... WOO HOO!
Omg, 2 legends ✈️👩✈️
I must be odd, I can never see myself flying a 747
Thanks! You never know where you might end up!
Mentour Pilot - True that captain, thanks for sharing, really enjoyed the video.
Greetz to both of you and enjoy your stay on this planet :D
Marius
Great video, Kelsey and Peter, and I'm Peter's dog Patxi loved having the guest.
🤪My English ass just spat my tea out when Kelsey said "smoking a blunt"🚬 🤪😂😂😂
Gangsta.
What a bonus...my 2 favorite pilots I always follow...thanks guys...
Here from 74Gear(s) half of this EPIC crossover event.
This is fantastic! Fangirling over here. Kelsey's petting the puppy! Worlds collide! Been watching you both for awhile and just found this. Wish you two could have a series. I need to go watch the other one now.
