This is literally the first three chords you will probably learn on guitar. If you already know how to play, you should be able to get this song down quickly. G, C, D
I'm packed and I'm holdin' I'm smilin', she's livin', she's golden She lives for me, says she lives for me Ovation, her own motivation She comes round and she goes down on me And I make her smile, like a drug for you Do ever what you wanna do, comin' over you Keep on smilin' what we go through One stop to the rhythm, that divides you And I speak to you like the chorus to the verse Chop another line like a coda with a curse Come on like a freak show takes the stage We give them the games to play, she said I want somethin' else To get me through this Semi-charmed kinda life Baby, baby I want somethin' else I'm not listenin' when you say Goodbye The sky was gold, it was rose I was takin' sips of it through my nose And I wish I could get back there, someplace back there Smilin' in the pictures you would take Doin' crystal meth, will lift you up until you break It won't stop, I won't come down I keep stock with the tick-tock rhythm I bump for the drop, and then I bumped up I took the hit that I was given, then I bumped again Then I bumped again, I said How do I get back there To the place where I fell asleep inside you? How do I get myself back to the place where you said I want somethin' else To get me through this Semi-charmed kinda life Baby, baby I want somethin' else I'm not listenin' when you say Goodbye I believe in the sand beneath my toes The beach gives a feeling, an earthy feeling I believe in the faith that grows And the four right chords can make me cry When I'm with you I feel like I could die And that would be alright, alright And when the plane came in, she said she was crashin' The velvet it rips in the city We tripped on the urge to feel alive Now I'm struggling to survive Those days you were wearing that velvet dress You're the priestess, I must confess Those little red panties they pass the test Slides up around the belly, face down on the mattress One And you hold me, and we're broken Still it's all that I wanna do, just a little now Feel myself, heavy on the ground I'm scared, I'm not comin' down No, no And I won't run for my life She's got her jaws now locked down in a smile But nothin' is alright, alright And I want somethin' else To get me through this life Baby, I want somethin' else Not listenin' when you say Goodbye Goodbye Goodbye Goodbye The sky was gold, it was rose I was takin' sips of it through my nose And I wish I could get back there, someplace back there In the place we used to start I want somethin' else
@GavinMichaelBooth yes, thank you. Im very aware of what acoustic means. I'm referring to the vocals. With acoustic and live performances the vocals aren't enhanced with studio production, and he cant hit the same notes live/acoustic that you hear in the produced tracks.
Actually Matt, he is singing this acoustically , its not that he does or doesnt have the range anymore, its just the way he is singing it! Artists often get bored with their own material after singing it over and over again, but folks still want to hear it,and quite frankly, he couldnt get away with playing out and Not doing this tune. so they tend to change it up a bit to help keep themselves interested.
@MGStoltzfus she's also only a vocalist who doesn't write any of her own stuff so it's literally the only thing she has to offer, whereas this guy - and rock music in general - is much more about the songs than the technical skill of the singer (bob dylan anyone?) - it would be impossible for him to sound like hers and still do everything from playing his own instruments to writing his own music to producing his own work - plus, she had a "better" voice to begin with in terms of natural skill.
@Fr4nTiC109 Ha the guitar riff here is so freakin easy, are you serious? It's just patty cake strumming of first position chords. No extreme multi-tasking. And the point he's trying to make is just that Perkins doesn't have live vocal chops. It's not a big deal, their records are money and that means a lot. But the fact remains that he's not nailing it live.
I love how He's using STEPHAN for "STEEV-en" MY name is -STEPHEN- and I do the same thing! Why NOT! We're better than "Seven with a T"! Read Here Sheeple! STEPH in Female is STEF the Male is STEEV and here's why! The first E is long because it is Male and The PH relects F's second pronunciation in the word "OF" it's usually said "uV"
wouldnt exactly call them musical geniuses, this a great and fun song but its pretty simple. three chords the whole way through... still think they're great tho :-)
One of the best tunes of the 90s
one of the greatest albums of the 90s, love every song
IKR!
So freaking underrated in today's music. This album lives on forever❤❤❤
This will always remind me of the love and summer carefree days as a kid in the 90s.
When you know the lyrics, chords, strumming pattern but putting them all together is a very different skill. Great song ❤️
I cant think of another band who could have spit these lyrics out so easy- goddamn mouthful, but its a brilliant song.
Have to learn this, campfire about to get next level! 🏕🔥🎸🎶
This is literally the first three chords you will probably learn on guitar. If you already know how to play, you should be able to get this song down quickly. G, C, D
take me back to 90's
And the four right chords can make me cry!!! Amazing
Technically it’s only 3 chords 🙃
How can one man be so amazing? Ahh, Stephan.
HOORAY 90'S! BOOO 80'S AND 2000'S
Awesome song! 1998 Naples, Italy when I met a my little charm of life.
I thank musical geniuses like this for God.
I'm packed and I'm holdin'
I'm smilin', she's livin', she's golden
She lives for me, says she lives for me
Ovation, her own motivation
She comes round and she goes down on me
And I make her smile, like a drug for you
Do ever what you wanna do, comin' over you
Keep on smilin' what we go through
One stop to the rhythm, that divides you
And I speak to you like the chorus to the verse
Chop another line like a coda with a curse
Come on like a freak show takes the stage
We give them the games to play, she said
I want somethin' else
To get me through this
Semi-charmed kinda life
Baby, baby
I want somethin' else
I'm not listenin' when you say
Goodbye
The sky was gold, it was rose
I was takin' sips of it through my nose
And I wish I could get back there, someplace back there
Smilin' in the pictures you would take
Doin' crystal meth, will lift you up until you break
It won't stop, I won't come down
I keep stock with the tick-tock rhythm
I bump for the drop, and then I bumped up
I took the hit that I was given, then I bumped again
Then I bumped again, I said
How do I get back there
To the place where I fell asleep inside you?
How do I get myself back to the place where you said
I want somethin' else
To get me through this
Semi-charmed kinda life
Baby, baby
I want somethin' else
I'm not listenin' when you say
Goodbye
I believe in the sand beneath my toes
The beach gives a feeling, an earthy feeling
I believe in the faith that grows
And the four right chords can make me cry
When I'm with you I feel like I could die
And that would be alright, alright
And when the plane came in, she said she was crashin'
The velvet it rips in the city
We tripped on the urge to feel alive
Now I'm struggling to survive
Those days you were wearing that velvet dress
You're the priestess, I must confess
Those little red panties they pass the test
Slides up around the belly, face down on the mattress
One
And you hold me, and we're broken
Still it's all that I wanna do, just a little now
Feel myself, heavy on the ground
I'm scared, I'm not comin' down
No, no
And I won't run for my life
She's got her jaws now locked down in a smile
But nothin' is alright, alright
And I want somethin' else
To get me through this life
Baby, I want somethin' else
Not listenin' when you say
Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye
The sky was gold, it was rose
I was takin' sips of it through my nose
And I wish I could get back there, someplace back there
In the place we used to start
I want somethin' else
My favorite band of all time

This song is about a dark tale of a relationship’s descent into crystal meth addiction.

@Spoon03man Umm, no. But good try.
He needs kevin
@caraxcatastrophee ;3
that was a really bad comment haha
אתב לא יודע לשיר
Kids, this is why you never write songs that are too high for your vocal range - after 10 years, you can't hit those high notes anymore.
Yet there’s videos of him after this performance hitting every note??🤣
Pretty good but your voice should be higher to do a cover like this
its not a cover
This is the actual lead singer Stephan Jenkins singing in this video LOL
CrazyUnicorns! lmao!
Hahahahaha
Can't tell if trolling or just gay fanboy.
he cant hit the same notes he hits in the studio...disappointing.
this is a new discovery for you? Are you 9?
Amazing song but he can't sing to save his life😂
he can't sing high anymore
the recording is worse than terrible!
It's a fucking camcorder I happened to have there on the day. Piss off.
Your existence is worse than terrible
