The crappiest hearing aids ever. My brand new hearing aids are not keeping charge. My audiologist sent them back to Signia, and after two weeks, they returned them without fixing the issue. Now I am stuck with them for next three years because my insurance pays for hearing aids once every three years 😡

June 2022 just switched to the AX after 3+ years with Phonak M9's.First impressions they are much better than the prior Signia units I trialed prior to the Phonaks. Prior to the Phonaks I had Oticon Alta Pros for several years. Compared to the Marvels the new Signia receiver wires are much stiffer and the wire enters the reciver at an odd angle in the ear. I am using my small open dome Phonak tips as they are just a bit larger than the small Signia / Widex ones and I am comfotable with them. The NEW handsfree phone option works better than Phonaks as there hve been no complaints from callers when using the Mics in the aids for speaking.
I miss the LEDS on the Aids that the Phonaks had but as for size the Signia are a bit slimmer. Battery life seenms to be much beteer on the Signia AX 7. Made for iPhone is a much better setup than the 3 Bluetooth connections the Phonak used. Only difference now is I lost my ability to connect to my MacBook without a intermediate device. I will go back to my apple ear buds because with the Phonaks everyone around you could hear what was being playrd or said too. Also the Signia MIFI connection allows you to turn off phone system sounds, something rhe Phonaks annoyingly would not let you do. The Phonak app seems more finished and complete than Signia . Signia has two pages in their user manaual explaing a standby feature that does not exist in the app. Signia says use the app to turn the volume down to zero as a solution. Using the buttons on the aids only allows it to go to 1. Other app oddities include having a Batt icon and BT icon buttons that both bring you to the same app screen. Sonehow the app seems incomplete. There is no annoying tone from the aids when they go back to automatic mode as with Phonak. I do have a Tinnitus program set as my only atenate program I decided to see how the Signiias do on their own automatically like Phonak. The Aud inadvertantly also left masker on in the universal program but I turn it off in the app but will need to get it corrected, Through my exereince it seems AUDS have too many brands availble to them and not enough in depth programming experience with each brand. I know that from doing my homework before deciding then asking questions or in this Signia case reminding about own voice processing being set up.

I was fitted with the Pure C&G T AX last week. These are my first HA’s so I don’t have anything to compare them to. I have moderate to profound hearing loss and tinnitus.
These are life changing for me. The background and speech is no longer a wall of sound. I really like the the focus feature and the programs for different listening situations. The battery life is excellent, I had them in for 18 hours with a few hours of streaming and still had 40% of battery left. My tinnitus is reduced to almost unnoticeable.

Dr. Cliff, In support of your review of the Signia AX HA's on your RUclips channel, I thought I'd comment on my experience with these as of late. I am currently demoing a set of Signia Pure C&G 7AX Bi-CROS HA's and my current HA's are Oticon OPN S 1 MINIRITE T and are set up for Bi-CROS as well and I'm quickly finding out how lacking the Oticon is in contrast to the Signia AX's, at least in my case. The phone app of my Oticon's (my setup) has no volume control for my transmitter whereas Signia has both volume control for the HA and Transmitter controlled within the app and it works very well. I find myself adjusting the transmitter numerous times (in noisy areas) to suit my hearing needs on my deaf side. With Oticon, I'm stuck with pushing the rocker switch on the device only to do what small adjustments I have with it. That seems very lacking for a company with the reputation and size in the market of Oticon to only have that capability for its users that need CROS. The Tinnitus program for the Signia suits my condition well with a variety of sound choices that assist with a condition as such. My Hearing Aid Professional that sold me the Oticon's to the tune of $6,500.00 mentioned to me recently that the Tinnitus program for them wasn't really a very good program. He really didn't offer a good alternative and based on that poor advice, I found Resound's version in the Apple app store (downloaded it) and it seems to work pretty well (so far) with airplay on my iPhone when I use my OPN S HA's. I once thought that Oticon was one of the absolute top companies in the Hearing Aid market and champions at solving many HA issues for folks like me. This was an expensive lesson for me at this point, but the Signia's (so far) seem to offer much better alternatives for my needs, no matter how fundamental they may seem.

Thank you for your timely review. I am just going through a trial of another manufacturer’s hearing aids. I was disappointed in their deep neural learning’s capability to minimize background noise. With the mics on the side of my ears I found conversation across the table in a crowded restaurant worse than with no aids. When attempting to listen to high end stereo, it sounded more like monophonic sound with no sound stage. Receiver in ear is a misnomer; the receiver is actually on top of the ear with the transmitter being in the ear.

A year has passed since I was fitted these HA. In my opinion these are excellent devices.
The drawbacks are that they make unpleasant noise when being touched (I got used to it, but people around me find it horrible) and their plastic casing is of an exterior quality, as they got severely rubbed by my glasses.
My speech understanding is very good now, even in noisy situations (restaurants and bars).
Besides, their updated app allows you to track your health (activity and steps) as well as the time you spend speaking to other people.

Hello Dr. Cliff! I hope you can help me.
I was fitted a while ago in Brazil with a Signia Stiletto NX Connect.
They work great. The iPhone app works pretty good too.
My issue is that if I am with someone (friends or else) and we enter a different sound environment, I have to pull out the phone and check which program would fit better (reverberant, noisy, outdoors, etc).
It is somewhat embarrassing to pull the phone in the middle of a conversation. It sometimes seem rude, though I usually explain why I am doing it.
My previous Widex Dream had a remote control that I’d carry in my pocket and very discreetly change programs (each of them were announced through the hearing aid (Universal, Music, etc), and adjust volume if needed.
I know Signia has a remote - miniPocket. But Signia doesn’t carry them in Brazil. I can get them in the US, but am not sure how they work. The miniMic I tested in Brazil and it wasn’t helpful in these situations.
Any insight how the miniPocket works and if it is worth to buy it?

As a new user I'm still trying to get my brain to re-wire so won't complain about that for now. But all day long I hear snaps, pops and crackles with movement and wonder if it might be related to the way the wire exits the Signia and Rexton HA. It seems that is where the artifacts are coming from. A yawn, eye squint, head scratch or sometimes nothing will cause this and other times quiet. But it is movement related. I am going to once again tell my tech about it (CostCo) and will also try another CostCo close by to ask about how they fit my ear and if they can see any issues with the wire length, etc. I have 7mm open domes and also tried tulips. They accidentally gave me 5mm open domes yesterday and the artifacts were much worse.

Researching to buy my first set of hearing aids and I've been finding your programs invaluable as first-class info sources. I've had a preliminary in-the-office test from a licensed Dr. Of Aud. I was told that I had a MODERATE hearing loss, especially in the upper frequency range. But an even bigger negative effect on my hearing is a VERY BAD CASE OF TINNITUS! I've been reading and researching A LOT during the last few months about how different brands of aids are designed and how differently they can function. I have been especially curious about the relatively new developments of dual circuit, augmented processing. I haven't found much info about how AX might effect tinnitus. Is it possible that AX might be a new weapon against this very common but complex and difficult disease? I'm SURE that there has already been a lot of research on this topic but I can't find any real answers.

All very well having all the fancy features, but they are no good if you don't wear your HA's because they break down when worn outside. All I want is to hear better to be able to communicate with my friends when outside. I don't need the rest of the add ons! I have a Garmin watch that is indestructible, why can't HA's be built the same?
I have a good audiologist, use resound one HA's with the fancy add ons (that you get so excited about) and happy with their performance -but not poor robustness. My audiologist recommends Phonak BTE- but they are expensive- would cheaper brands provide something similarly robust?

I am limited by my benefits program, TruHearing, to two different aids. One is $799 per hearing aid and supposedly runs the Signia 7X chip. The other is $499 per hearing aid and runs the 5X chip. I am looking for a hearing aid that has AI capability. I am currently having trouble hearing my wife who is 76 and she speaks in a low varying pitch voice quite often with her back turned and the TV between me and her. I call her voice “squeaky old lady voice”. I am also having trouble hearing my Pastor at church when he drops his voice. I need a hearing aid that I can hear with in these situations. What do you recommend?

I have Signia hearing aids that are almost 5 years old. I am frustrated when out to dinner with friends or in a crowd. My doctor recommends the new Signia hearing aids. I'm willing to wait a year or so if they will come out with even more improvements What is in the near future for Signia? Clarity and extraneous noise reduction are my major issues.

Major failure of AUD’s is NOT working the app side, my trail of AX went back because two different AUD would not address the app. AX needs app for mask mode and assistant, when it will not fill out the menu or connect, your HA’s are only as good as loss of feature on a app that broken. If could get resound one app
on the AX that would be best ha/app combo. Resound one HA’s fail on hearing aid side… back waiting and looking for AUD that will include total service …
Using a iPhone 12, not phone issue as Resound’s app works great, so AX app is the failure !!!

I have a problem with their help . They don't ask you what the problem is, but give you a list of problems. I got my hearing aids and the first week and to this day the left ear shuts down. I took them back and supposedly they sent them back for a new pair. I fight with them in the morning to bluetooth to my Note 20 ultra plus. Two hours later the left one shuts off. I have the rechargeable ones. I have to put them back in the case two to five times to get them to work. It's a crying shame when you get a phone call and only one ear peice works. I had better experience with ear buds with bluetooth. When they do work they are great. My suggestion is to try other companies products. All I get is the covid bullshit excuse. Don't buy this product.

  • @dennisgallion4133

"If you ask me . . . " Dr. Olson, maybe that's not such a good idea. Your videos are informative but IMO it would be wise to not try to be so technical when, actually, you are not. The "two processors" simply means that an additional DSP core has been added to the SoC device; other manufacturers are using many-core SoC's which do split processing. Furthermore, there are other fundamentally different architectural techniques that can produce the same result. That isn't to say that using independent parallel processing and remixing does not provide the opportunity for much faster processing (with its intrinsic benefits) and superior filtering efficiency. But when you start talking about this approach as if it is revolutionary and a "game changer" that will likely be adopted by other manufacturers, you really put yourself out on a limb because, again, other system architectures can be able to produce the same result or possibly even better. There are many, many examples of this across various electronics industries. You are spot on however about the test results touted by Signia; when compared to a "something" people had been using; that is meaningless and no engineer would endorse that, this is marketing-speak, and weak at that. I actually expect that AX performance will be quite good, in spite of the marketing. You are a par excellence audiologist. An electrical hardware engineer, not so much. Keep to your core competence.
