- We have a narrow escape! It was coming at us head-on! A speeding narrowboat aiming straight for us as we approached a bridge. Can Shaun avoid a collision?
We leave Braunston and tackle Hillmorton Locks, the busiest on the canal network! Heading for Rugby on the Oxford Canal we get caught up in bad weather and end up at Hawkesbury Junction on the Coventry Canal where we have to investigate bags of missing coal.
We leave you near Nuneaton as we continue our journey north.

I learn English for most of my life, I watch English films, I watch English tv and Netflix series, I read books written by English authors - but since last week I wasn't aware of this absolutely fantatic canal system! With all of these unique locks, bridges, tunnels and more - what a great history behind all of them! Now I have to revise my future plans for trip to GB. It’s amazing how many Americans are fascinated by our canal system. It’s probably all the history that’s behind them as well. We take them for granted and maybe we shouldn’t as they are a National treasure.

When I started first watching narrow boat RUclips videos there was only one then eventually more began to crop up on RUclips. I'm living vicariously through narrow boaters like y'all. Another great video and slightly different this time with lots of movement (on the water that is). The houses on the side of the canal are just beautiful, I get quite envious of the people living there. I do hope you guys find somewhere comfortable to stay while the canals are closed and once again, thanks so much for making my Saturday mornnings special. I get up at 6.00am and have a cup of tea while watching your video. I am sure Mum will love this one.

She is 90yrs and absolutely loves your videos, so much that she forgets to check her emails because she is too busy watching you. Speeding boater was just totally oblivious to how fast he was going and with no warning signal before he approached the bridge, Good job you where on foot Colin.... Good job Shaun could take evasive action but only just enough room..... He didn't even acknowledge you and completely oblivious of what he was doing.... I'm sure that the occupant in the bow section of the boat had some terse words with the errant cox !!! Ooh boy! Y’all bring back a lot of memories! My mum has been gone since 2016, and y’all are using phrases that she used to when she was alive, even as many years she lived in the states. Quick bit of history...
Hawkesbury Junction is also called Sutton Stop in the local area, when the canals were new, they were two different canal companies and the met at Sutton Stop, but were separated by an isthmus of land (portage) and good had to be carted by hand, from one canal to the other, that's why they meet at such a strange angle.
Later one they were joined after the two companies made a deal.
second fact, I planted all the hanging baskets and troughs for the Greyhound pub, for 10 years until I changed jobs 6 years ago :-)
