I’m sorry if I’m wrong but I myself was saved from committing suicide not long ago. I had never thought of doing it ever before but one morning i just felt like it was enough, I spent hours with a knife on my throat and couldn’t do it, i poisoned myself and woke up in a hospital and “survived”. I always had in my mind that suicide is unforgivable by god and you can’t be saved, what if I died and as a result I was sent to what was hell for me? I mean back to my life. As someone who grew with religious surroundings and take that decision trying to escape from hell it’s something I can’t stop thinking about, what if my hell is surviving? No matter how many times I tried it feels like I can’t escape it

I have been your subscriber long before I gave up, and I told you what everyone says, but now I understand you and I am happy you got over it, but I am alone, I have no one, I just hope you really erased all these thoughts from your mind. I just cant help thinking the problems and suffering I have and will cause to my family compared to the suffering I will cause them if I disappear. I have divided a family that love themselves so much and caused conflict among them. Me, the youngest of six. A formed family that lived in peace for 40 years and I destroyed it, but maybe my passing will reunite them. As long as I’m convinced that god will forgive me I would do it, but I’m afraid he won’t forgive me

You have witnessed a stellar performance from one of, if not THE, greatest guitarists in the history of modern music. Self taught, multi instrumentalist, innovator in technique snd technical concerning the guitar. Going on four years without him, and he still impacts music today, there will never be another Edward Lodejwik Van Halen.

I'd read years earlier that Eddie first wanted to be a drummer. Everyday Eddie would deliver newspapers to pay for his first drum kit. Meanwhile Alex sitting at home started to practice on Eddie's kit and soon became a better drummer. Eddie then picked up a guitar and the rest is history, lol.

From at least 20-30 different reactors. I love watching “ New” reactors who have never seen Eddie’s solo. Never same reaction twice. A lot of same words, but always new reactions. Esp if you have never heard “Eddie Van Halen”, or the band “Van Halen”. Eddie was, is, will always be thee Guitar God. Light years ahead of his time, even after his passing. It would be like taking a cell phone back to the 20s. Love it!!❤️🙏🎸

Anyone who has seen or even heard Eddie play the guitar will agree that he was and will always be one if not the greatest (GOAT) guitar player that has ever lived. He started out as a child playing the piano along with his brother. Eddie could not read music but rather he just played what everyone else was playing. He just made sure that he was never the first to play whenever there was a competition. And sometimes he won and sometimes his brother Alex who was the drummer for their band. Eddie was a musical prodigy, savant and genius who when his brother got better at playing the drum set that Eddie had bought Eddie let him have his drums the took his brother's guitar and taught himself how to play. He never once had a guitar lesson in his life and yet he became the one guitarist that everyone wanted to play like in the 70's. Fortunately his parents were able to see his and his brother's success before they died. When Eddie died in 2020 every musician and music lover felt that something that will never happen to music again did along with Eddie. For us that grew up listening to Eddie play and the music of VAN HALEN all felt a part of themselves die the day that Eddie died. His brother even said that playing music was just not the same without his brother. So one of the greatest drummer's is never going to play without his brother so he will never play music ever again. Eddie and his first wife have a son "WOLFGANG VAN HALEN and he plays like his father AND plays the drums like his uncle as well as ever other instrument that is in a rock band. His first album was a huge success and he won multiple Grammy's from the music that he had written on the album. And to think that Eddie made his first electric guitar by building it from the scrap pieces that he was able to get and he made what has become known as the "FRANKENSTRAT". A red and black striped guitar that has become the most popular guitar sold since Eddie teamed up with a guitar manufacturer.Even when other guitarist have died Eddie was known to give one of his own guitar's to be buried with the person.

A lifetime of practice several hours a day is what keeps Eddie’s hands from cramping up on him. He’s one of the true greats of all time. Now I suggest you take a trip down the Jimi Hendrix rabbit hole, specifically his song, “House Burning Down.” It’s really exciting. Jimi’s guitar playing is amazing and the sounds he generates with his guitar are other-worldly. Also, keep in mind that it was recorded in 1967!! I hope you make a video on that song. A lot of great memories being in there throughout the 1980s and 90s. A time that was magical, and when society wasn't the mess it is today. Great reaction on one of the major influences in guitar, he couldn't read music, built his own guitar from scraps, and still brought finger picking to the forefront. He had to fight his own addiction and spoke of it frankly in later years. Another that had to fight depression is Dan Vasc, brilliant artist. In heart of steel he speaks about people fighting addiction and trying to end their life, in numb he sings a tribute to Linkin Park's, Chester and afterwards speak about depression. And his Son of pain, you can actually see the pain on his face. Worth checking him out as well, you might be surprised, by one of the best vocalists out there, that van sing from metal to opera and everything in between.

Autism, Borderline Personality Disorder, Hyperthymesia, born almost 2 months early with crooked feet, overbite (Buck Teeth), and 40\60 eyesight. I had to have glasses from 2 years old as I ran through a mirror head first before anyone checked my eyes. I am 68. Use your imagination. I weighed 3lbs 4 ounces at birth with imperfect neQue's. (Incubator's)
Taught myself the drums. Took piano lessons. My first and only mental health inquiry was at 14 by the High school's resident shrink. I still remember him fondly. He really tried to help. I was\am a little angry? I have made a living out of being invisible so I normally have to REALLY get someone's attention (ie) Doctor's, Pastor's, any other human being! The one thing that helped me more than anything was music as far as keeping my brain occupied.
EVH is ONE of my heroes being that he was 4 months older. Alex is one as well. I could teach many classes on how to screw up your life and pay for it like millions of others. Fortunately I am the only ME! Great channel and message. God Bless!

In the late 70s, when Van Halen first broke into the music scene, Edward unintentionally changed how guitarists approached their performance. Here are some examples, George Lynch - Dokken ruclips.net/video/621plHIyNFw/видео.html Randy Rhoads- Ozzy Osbourne ruclips.net/video/G3LvhdFEOqs/видео.html Yngwie Malmsteen- Steeler 1982 ruclips.net/video/EGzLLpa5XoE/видео.html The 80s Hard rock & Metal scene was full of this and we as the youth could not get enough.

Hmmm...The usual reaction that someone has when getting their first good listen of Eddie: First it's, ""What the hell am I hearing?" then progresses into "How the hell is he doing that?" 😁 The individual's reactions are pretty much always voiced differently but the impressions & comments being made always seems to *originate* from those first two questions I've mentioned.
At times, you could almost swear that the only way for him to play so fast is by making his fingers break the sound barrier...Other times, when you think that you've every possible sound a guitar can make (with no mixers, synthesizers, modulators, or filters other than the guitar itself), Eddie gives you a whole new sound. There was even a section where he makes his guitar sound like a cello.
It's kinda heart-warming to see younger generations enjoy experiences that we older people grew up with...For you it's the first time but for us it was all happening for the first time *ever* & we were there to see it as it happened. Sort of gives you a better idea what you could learn from your elders & discover new experiences by just talking to them more, doesn't it? 😉

Back in the early-to-mid 80's, seeing instrumental solos from various rock bands was common place. A lot of times, I'd find myself looking at my watch after 2 or 3 mins into the solo, anticipating the end.....BUT NOT EVH's!! Two rock icons that I feel absolutely blessed to have seen live in concert "too may to count": Neil Peart of Rush (The GOAT of drums), and Eddie Van Halen. I believe this is the 1986 New Haven, CT show and Eddie was a little tipsy (if my memory serves me correctly).

As I understand it, Eddie didn't invent ”Tapping," there were other guitarists in the 70s who were playing around with it. But Eddie was about as unconventional as it gets, and he would experiment with all sorts of different ways for his instrument to produce sound. Other guitarists "played" the guitar, but Eddie was "At One" with his. Also, he was the greatest showman. He single-handedly created the Air Guitar movement, because we all wanted to be like him!

If you like to dive more into instrumental (personal) journeys that they can bring you all kinds of feelings then definately worth listening to "(Anesthesia)-Pulling Teeth", "The Call of Ktulu", "Orion" and "To Live is to Die" all by Metallica. Featuring another legend, one of the greatest bass players of all times, Cliff Barton. RIP to all the Legends of music! The world is poorer without them and so enriched by their legacy. I thank them all for helping me and everyone else that stood, listen and journey with them through out the past decades. Never too late dear Amanda to rediscover music and ourselves.

Hi Amanda - Thanks for this reaction. You must sense that rock music is much deeper than your declared "sex and drugs" comment regarding lyrics. There are so many examples of rock songs that make you think much deeper than that. If you check out Neil Peart and his lyrical work, you will get a sample of this. Neil also happens to be among the best drummers to ever play and he was a member of Rush prior to passing away a few years ago from brain cancer. Among the songs to consider listening to for lyrical content are "Closer to the Heart," "Subdivisions," "Limelight," "Vital Signs," "New World Man," "Time Stand Still," and many more! Also, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Pearl Jam, REM and so much more are available for you to expand your rock music perceptions.

There is so much joyful music from the '70s. If you ever need a lift in spirits, just listen to E.L.O. or Chicago. Especially Mr. Blue Sky or Saturday in the park. Many, many songs from the '70s will put a smile on your face. This is my first time on your channel, so forgive me if you have already reacted to these gems and I didn't know. Also if you want a bit harder hitting (musically) fun songs, every song from Boston's debut album will make you feel alive.

Eddie didn't play guitar. The guitar was a part of him. This solo is composed of several pieces of songs and melodies from songs across their catalog. So that's why it doesn't just come off as a solo. It has a compositional musicality apart from just showcasing technique. And Eddie is a great showman too.

If you want more Van Halen, I can suggest you 2 songs: Jump (their greatest hit in the mid-80's, and Hot for teacher (made very funny, almost as a joke, nice for a good laugh). About playing fast, it comes with practice, Jimi Hendrix manager used to say that he played giutar 15 hours a day (full-time job), so it wasn't by accident that he became so good--same goes for Eddie Van Halen. Have a nice day.

You definitely gotta checkout Rush! The guitarist is a huge inspiration to Eddie Van Hale, and many rock bands in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s, but very underrated and never gets enough credit. Definitely one of the greats. Top 10 in my opinion would be…
    Jimmy Page
    David Gilmore
    Tony Iommy
    Alex Lifeson
    BB King
    Jimi Hendrix
    Angus Young
    Eddie Van Halen
    Kirk Hammett
    Stevie Ray Vaughan
    Artists that beat todays music…
