@@finance.boosan Also as per my opinion, the ideal time to get benefit from dividend is to buy the stock once they announce the dividend. Once they announce, the stock price will rise and it will generally be more than the dividend per share.

REPOST: Great work bro, Basic doubts are cleared in a much simpler way. Recently saw Taparia tools, the share price is around ₹12 and they gave a dividend of ₹77, in this case how will the dividend amount gets adjusted on the opening price of ex date? That stock really seems weird, would be nice if we get some clarity. Thank you.
It is indeed a very weird company, If you look at Taparia Tools - the stock stopped trading on and off since March-20'2023, which is just after its Dividend issue. Need to look at it deep to understand further .
If I bought the stock (say 100rs -10qty total 1000rupees) before ex date and what will be the value on ex dividend date. Whether my portfolio will show negative
Hey how will we get dividend if we hold it on ex dividend date. We must hold it on rec date only. Means we have to by one day before from 2023 rec date and ex date are same.
Am watching your channel regularly and it's very much useful. I have a request, if possible please do a video about how to start investing. SIP - in monthly SIP if we are unable to put for 2 or 3 months, what will happen?. If we need money urgently after paying regularly for some months, what we need to do?. Is there any time period for monthly SIP. Is there any plan like 5 years or 10 years. When it will get finished or how to close and take out money. I saw your one of the video mentioned to go Nifty 50 direct growth index fund, also i saw in another video and understood that zerodha is one of the best app. Can you please explain this is upcoming videos from very basic layman terms with some examples. So that many peoples like me will start investing.
Hey @financeboosan If I buy before ex dividend rate then I will get dividend rs 5 for which i need to pay TDS 10 % so you are recommending buy stock after exdate to defer tax for the rs 5 and save TDS for dividend amount Question if I buy stock in ex dividend date I might buy stock Rs 5 lesser but if stock price goes up then while selling I might pay tax again for the profit so there is no difference either way we are paying tax. What do you think buddy ?
When a company declares a dividend, it announces the amount to be paid per share and the record date for determining which shareholders are entitled to receive the dividend. However, since it takes time for the record date to be processed, the stock exchange sets an ex-dividend date that is usually two business days before the record date. Investors who purchase the stock on or after the ex-dividend date are not entitled to the upcoming dividend payment. To account for this, the stock's price is adjusted downward by the amount of the dividend payout on the ex-dividend date. This adjustment ensures that investors who purchase the stock on or after the ex-dividend date do not receive a windfall gain by being entitled to the dividend payment. Instead, the price of the stock reflects the fact that the company has paid out a portion of its earnings as a dividend to its shareholders. As a result, the opening price of the stock on the ex-dividend date will typically be lower than the previous day's closing price by the amount of the dividend payout.

In case if they didn't pay dividend how can growth work? Because in growth index fund dividend is only reinvested. Without dividend how growth will occur?. Am i right - compounding will not work if dividend didn't given. Can you clarify?
Bro it's just based on capital appreciation, so in growth fund they don't care about dividend at all... And also there is something called as DRIP , from there it depends whether u will recieve it or will the dividend be reinvested

Hi Gixcy, I've no idea about the mutual funds you'd purchased, and the reasons for your choice in those funds - so not sure if I can suggest anything about it .
It is indeed a very weird company, If you look at Taparia Tools - the stock stopped trading on and off since March-20'2023, which is just after its Dividend issue. Need to look at it deep to understand further .
Mutual funds are of 2 types : Growth and IDCW (Dividend) A growth fund typically does not pay out any dividends to investors, the dividends and capital appreciation are reinvested. The fund's net asset value (NAV) increases as the underlying investments appreciate in value. As an investor in a growth fund, you can realize the gains by selling your units in the fund. IDCW funds distribute the income generated by the underlying investments to investors in the form of regular dividend payments. The fund's NAV is reduced by the amount of the dividend paid out, but investors receive the benefit of regular income. In both cases, you indeed receive dividends either directly or by reinvestment and capital appreciation.
