- Classic chicken cacciatore is a perfect Sunday dinner. The tomato-based sauce with caramelized onions and mushrooms is amazing along with the juicy pieces of chicken. Serve over pasta, rice, polenta, or mashed potatoes along with warm, crusty Italian bread for a feast your loved ones will be requesting time and time again!

CHICKEN CACCIATORE INGREDIENTS:
2 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper
6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
8 oz. mushrooms, sliced
6 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1 cup white wine
1 28 oz. can whole tomatoes, preferably San Marzano
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 bay leaves
3 sprigs fresh thyme
1 sprig fresh rosemary

As I said on IG, this is one of my favorite chicken dishes. And it is obviously one of yours as I rarely see you two trying to wrap up the video, but having trouble talking due to you not being able to stop eating. I can't blame you at all...I could almost smell it coming out of the screen. Working on my HEB app list now.

My gosh, I had completely forgotten about this recipe and we loved it when I was a child. Of course it didn't have the wine but it was a family favorite. This is going to be dinner tonight.

My husband couldn't believe it, he hadn't had this dish since being a child either. I had everything but the wine so I used apple juice. The sauce is fantastic. Thanks for reminding us of an olde but goody.

Nice. Please, how long did you let the tomatoes cook before adding the chicken
We roasted them for about 3 hours (this can be done in advance). Then we stirred them into the pasta just to heat them through, only a few minutes. If you cook them too much more and if you stir them too much, they can start to fall apart. Hope this helps and we hope you make the pasta. It's soooooo good!

Did I hear you mention that this was something that might be served at Furr’s years ago ? Interesting reference . I worked for Furr’s from 1974 until 1991 . They were a top notch employer.
We love Furr's! So many great memories and delicious meals! We drove past the strip mall it once was the main attraction at (no longer there...now it's a sushi spot! LOL!), but we talked about Furr's fondly! Glad they treated you well!

@@HowToFeedaLoon it was 🔥meat fell right off the bone. I did it a little different…. I used marinara sauce, diced tomatoes with peppered garlic, black garlic, accent and Italian seasoning
