I have the new version, I love this stuff! Just repurchased the refill. I have combo/oily skin and it works very well for me, it’s crazy hydrating and layers well with other products. Plus, it’s affordable!
I love this Lotion. I apply HadaLabo premium Night Cream ontop of it and wake up with very bouncy and hydrated skin. The cream removed tacky feeling and both of them absorb quite well and not greasy.
shirojyun premium (get the rich version for a thicker texture) lotion is my favorite... tranexamic acid, licorice root, etc.
Have it in the stash ready to go! Still working through other toners from this brand. Love their simplicity and ease of use. Watching what else J beauty has to offer this year 👀 🙌 xx
I love this product. Really hydrates your skin and you get a lot for the money!
This is the HA I use after microneedling. Great stuff!!
Looking forward to watching! I’ve enjoyed this several times, thanks Sara 💕☀️💕☀️!
Love J beauty!!!... Hada labo was my first introduction to Japanese skincare products..😄😄😄😄.. this line focuses mainly on hyaluronic acid!!!!.. and you know Sarah, this ingredient is everywhere!!!... however, their products are fragrance free, no essential oils. Most of Japanese products contain alcohol, but I guess it's all about formulation and personal experience!!!!
I love this lotion. It applies like an essence or serum, despite being a toner, and leaves a sheen to help dry and dehydrated skin recover its moisture balance. For oily skin though, I suspect that it could end up being or feeling rich. It is my fourth bottle of this so far! It really helps to prep my skin for the moisturizers after.
You are probably right- the lotion is a bit thicker and for a lot of those with oilier skin might not need extra hydration in their routine.
I’ll have to keep this in mind:)
Thanks, girlie🍃🌸
I saw this on the front page of several skincare sites I use (personalized from my past purchases), as well as Amazon. Now I’m feeling like the universe is trying to tell me to buy this. 😂
Ty for explaining that I need to apply moisturizer AFTER I apply this Hadalabo toner. I didn't know that and only applied the toner before bed. This morning I wondered why my face and neck felt sooo dry. Now I know what to do. 👍
Just finished the old version, on to the tranexamic version for day and rovectin for night. May come back to this. I really like Hada Labo except for their cleansers, then again, I used that so long ago so may have remembered wrongly.
So far, I have only tried the cleansing oil from Hado Labo, I like it. This looks interesting, especially with the Urea.
Thank you for all your hard work.💖💖💖
I'm working on a video about their lotion lines and who they are good for- they have several different versions for different skin types- anti-aging, replenishing, hydrating, anti-acne, brightening. Hopefully I will get that done in the next couple weeks!
I have this, but my skin hated it. So, now I use it on my damp hair then follow up with hair oil. My thick corse hair absolutely loves it. It’s no longer dry or frizzy. I will buy it again for my hair.
What hair oil do you use after?
I recently started using HA on my hair too (Inkey list - the one for skin, not hair). After washing and conditioning my hair, I towel dry and spray it with a really watery leave-in conditioner by Sachajuan. I then take a large dollop of the HA and distribute through the length of my hair. I follow up with hair oil on the crown of my head (Virtue, Egg Remedy Hair Oil from Too Cool for School, or Kerastase) and Living Proof's leave in conditioner through the rest of my hair. I wake up with the softest, shiniest hair with no frizz and I have virtually no breakage (which used to be a major problem). I'm almost 53 and my hair has never been healthier or longer. Also, I do use the K18 product 2x/week in place of the above routine.
I live in a dry climate so I mist my face first before I apply, then use my occlusive, usually CeraVe cream. I have used this for years. I went without it for a couple months while I tried other stuff and I definitely reordered and don't think I'll be without it again. Also, this can be applied to wet hair. Works great.
Hi fellow arid climate dweller. Hope you don't mind me asking, the hyaluronic acid works in your hair without anything else on top like an occlusive layer? What does it do for your hair there?
@@gwendolinehall1386 Helps with the moisture in hair and makes it soft. Apply while damp and top it off with a leave in conditioner! 👍
@@juhnetmickerdy wow very interesting! Thanx for sharing! I'm def trying this today after I wash my hair.
Just ordered and I’m looking for more information videos on it. Tysm
I love this!
Thank you miss,i go look and order it ,i need it.Walking in Rain and cold weather whit my dog and sensetive skin.
Impressive review.Thank you.If you have any recommendations for someone who is allergic to freakin oxygen I would appreciate.Currently just using Cetaphil lotion.
I love love the formulation of this brand and your read through of the ingredients explains what the b5 different levels is .....the gold is for oily skin....the white is for normal/no issues skin.....the red is for mature/ aging skin. ...❤❤❤❤
Oh thank you so much, I've been meaning to do a versus of all of their lotions. Will do that soon!
I have been using this for a couple of years but honestly thought it was cruelty free. I’m going to replace, although I love the product, I love animals more. Can’t believe I was so ignorant about this! Thanks for the review.
Uuufff ....people r dying in Palestine ,kashmir, rohangia, syriya, africa n where not...n most westrens r so ignorant n silent about it...as if that is not cruelity....humans have less worth than animals
@@jijimaki4095 that point does not negate the cruelty that happens in laboratories to animals just to look good....be quiet!!nobody is saying that you can't be empathetic to humans just because you don't agree with animal testing...good god!!!
I’ve been using this product every night for over five years! My skin gets incredibly dehydrated by retinoids, and this stuff is one of my favorite products for helping counteract that. HA is in basically everything, but this is so hydrating that I still think it’s worth the purchase for anyone who is really dehydrated. For skin that isn’t so dehydrated, it’s probably not necessary.
Edit: Also, I’ve heard it’s great for hair that needs more hydration! I need to try that out, because I have low porosity hair that needs a little help getting water inside of it.
Do you use this toner before your retinol?
@@RachelDaSilva yes. I apply all my watery products, then moisturizer, then let my skin dry down, and then apply my retinoid. My skin is too sensitive to apply retinoids on clean skin
💙 Thanks!
I really would like to try this, because I love this effect of plumped up skin that these Hada Labo lotions give and this one has great reviews BUT after the white version of Hada Labo lotion as well as The Ordinary HA serum I got these weird bumps on my forehead so I'm afraid it would be the same with this one... :(
💠
I ordered the blue bottle several months ago. I can't give a review because it's still sitting in my stash. 🙄😳. But thanks for reminding me I have it!
Nice review. I have the new edition and I love this essence. I live in Europe, dry climate, so use a toner before that, than apply this hada labo and heavy cream and my skin is plumped and hydrated. ... Don't you plan to review Kiku-masasamune lotion (J-beauty) as well? It is on my wish list.
Hello! Please review their moisturizer with sunscreen!
Is this comparable to hada labo tokyo premium HA lotion?
I think the version you have in the video is the older version but the links are for the 2020 version. I'm curious how these are different. And the price points are quite different on StyleVana - $26.59 for the old and 17.99 for the 2020 version. I have the older version and love it, but I always put some on over it like you suggested.
I remember when I use to go out and buy a specific hyro serum ..lol o have times changed now I'm like darn ware are the products that don't have that in it🤣
I just received the Thank you farmer rice toner today I am so excited to try I did get it off the Thank you farmer official Amazon site and they also sent it wrapped up nice and with 3 samples I wanted to get from them that cool the water gel cream duo the serum and and another toner sample kinda wish that one was the face wash mask thing but can't complain I never had a brand do that and it came the next morning Which was amazing especially since I been waiting for 3 things from QVC I ordered it 2 days after Xmas. I haven't really been into the hado labo the plain ones anyway just for the hydro I want other ingredients besides just that the ones with added stuff are pretty nice and I still have not tried the oil
Hi Sarah, I would love to hear your thoughts on the premium version with the blue cap. It's supposed to be good for reducing hyperpigmentation. Thanks!
It contains tranexamic acid but I find it so-so in reducing hyperpigmentation. The texture is actually lighter than the Premium lotion in gold cap.
@@kevinjanghj Happy Friday Kevin, thanks for sharing your thoughts! I haven't tried any of the Premium lotions yet, but the blue one is calling to me 😉
I basically had the same experience as Kevin. I bought the lighter version with tranexamic acid and it didn’t really make a big difference when it comes to hyperpigmentation. The hydration was nice.
@@Chris75c Thanks for sharing! Are you using any products that you have found effective at reducing hyperpigmentation? (I'm currently using prescription strength azelaic acid)
Hi!I do hope you review the Simple Micellar Gel Wash and the Isntree spot saver Mugwort Cream..I badly want to try them out but I trust you so much that I won't dare touch anything unless you reviewed them.😘😘
I LOVE both those products. Although for very sensitive skin I might recommend the Isntree Cica Repair Cream which is a bit more hydrating and soothing. The Simple Micellar Gel Wash is a good one and super affordable (I'll be featuring them in my Frugal Friday series).
Never heard of hyaluronic acid. Have you talked about this on your channel? Is it in everything? 😂❤️❤️
Jennifer Joyce beauty here on RUclips has always sworn by this for quite a while. She has very oily acne prone skin so I guess that’s why I never tried it. I did start trying a new essence I thought I’d ask you if you’ve tried yet. It’s the beauty of Joseon ginseng essence water. I like it so far and it’s under 20 bucks
Sara reviewed the ginseng essence on a previous video and LOVED it! I have to say I think it's pretty great too.
@@jenniferrose1131 awesome! Thanks! I had no idea she already reviewed it. I’ll have to try to find that video. I like it a lot too. I know they say you don’t need an essence but when I went without one I did not like it lol
@@bmackenzie2740 I agree essences are great! I use a hydrating toner and an essence in my routine. They make such a difference in getting truly hydrated skin. Especially for my dry and dehydrated skin! Maybe essences aren't as essential as moisturizer or sunscreen and not everybody would really benefit from them, but for a lot of us they are wonderful and make a huge difference! 😍
@@oceanbird. yes! I completely agree! Layering essences, toners, serums and moisturizers have saved my dry and dehydrated skin too! It makes a huge difference for me, especially this time of year when it’s crazy cold where we live. During the summer I can cut back a little bit
Here’s a random question, so if I use hyaluronic acid and then use moisturizing things on top, is the HA soaking that up and bringing it deeper into my skin or is it now kinda a barrier and the moisturizing ingredients now have to work harder to get to my skin? I’m just kinda confused on the purpose of HA now
HA actually helps actives penetrate better
I always think of HA as a dry sponge. Whatever you put on top of it is going to be sucked in instead of just sitting on top of your skin..
More moisture retentive!
My skin needs moisture and that looks great.
I have the milky version of this and love it. I'm wondering if you know the difference between the two. I got a package in the mail from you. Thank you so very, very much :)
I have the milky version of the one in the blue package the milky one is more of emulshion like before u put your moisterizer on or if oily can just use it as moisturizer and this one is more of a gel toner it's like water with vecousity say like the Dear klairs supple prep toner or Tiam b5 panthenol toner they call toners lotions in Japan for some reason.
Cream base verses water gel base is kinda what I was trying to say.lol hope that helps
@@heathersargent289 Thanks!
I've been curious about the rest of Hado Labo line. I only ever hear about the cleansing oil.
They have a really nice selection of lotion-essences- I'll do another video describing all of the options they have and who they work best for.
English with Sarah! My favorite class 😂
Lol- Don't worry though- I'll give everyone an 'A'!
Love your reviews, but every time I wonder: what WOULD be a problematic manufacturing location??
Thankfully it hasn't come up in a while, but there are a few- Korea for sunscreens in my opinion is an example of this because of their lax regulations on this.
Sarah, can review the By Wishtrend Green Tea and Enzyme Powder Wash?
Oh yes, I have it and I like it but I haven't done a full review of it yet and I'm not sure why I haven't. I have a few powder washes that I really love- the Wishtrend is towards the middle of that list. My absolute favorite is the Isntree Mugwort Powder Wash because it gets nice and foamy. I would say that one is a bit more friendly for sensitive skin while the Wishtrend is a bit more friendly for oilier skin and skin that isn't sensitive- it is a bit rougher in texture.
Based on my studies, the hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid this contains is a low molecular weight HA that can be very irritating, because it penetrates deeper into the skin. This one calls it out as being “nano.” I don’t know what that means. It’s even more penetrating?
I didn’t take the time to research the forms of HA that aren’t familiar to me, because I’m not interested in trying this. (Not being cruelty free is a deal killer for me.) I’m already familiar with what’s referred to as “hyaluronic acid” (with no other descriptors), sodium hyaluronate, and hydrolyzed HA. For me, hydrolyzed HA is an immediate deal killer, too.
I have sensitive skin and it didn't irritate my skin personally. I think they formulated it very well to be non irritating. But of-course someone still could get irritated by it as is with any product out there.
You are right- there are many sources that state high molecular weight HA is an anti-inflammatory ingredient where the opposite of low molecular HA can be irritation and pro-inflammatory. I suppose your skin type as well as other products in your routine can play into how your skin handles it. Some people have very good luck with it. Sounds like you already know a lot about it, but for others who are curious this is an interesting research article on it: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6719050/
I like it for the body after the shower then lotion.
Ooh I'm going to have to try that tonight- good call!!
Omg never even thought of that! 😱 I def must try!
I've seen it is very popular but I can't use standalone HA it get me itchy and red.
I totally get it- working on their anti-aging lotion in the red bottle next!
I like it, except of it staying tacky. It does work well in hydrating my skin.
A large amount of product with a dirt-cheap price tag..what more could you ask for! I don't know what some high-end brands think of when they ask for such a huge amount of money in return for a small amount of product that contains only one cheap ingredient like HA and the rest are frills. (Vichy I’m talking you).
You look gorgeous.
Oh thank you so much for your kind comment!!
What’s the difference between this, and the red bottle, and the white bottle ?
I'm working on a video to discuss all the different options- the green is for acne prone skin, the red is geared towards anti-aging, the gold bottle is for replenishing skin and the white one is for hydration.
Thank you, Sarah 🥰
Dinosaur video? Thanks, cameraman!
Love your content as always, but I no longer support ANY company that is NOT cruelty free! (Personal preference only) I just can't in good conscience 😞🐕🐶looking forward to Frugal Friday 💗😘
You are so right- in this day and age it is ridiculous for brands to not be cruelty free. I'm with you on this issue.
What is the name of the game? 😊 I like pokemons too
Hehe- it is Jurassic World Alive- you hunt down dinosaurs! I'm totally addicted!
I don't know why the term "cruelty free" is used without being specific about the meaning. Just because a product is tested on mice in a lab it doesn't necessarily mean it's a 'cruel' process... lab testing can be done in hundreds of ways, not all of which are 'cruel'. A better way of labeling would be 'tested on animals' or some such wording, and the consumer would have to find out about their procedures. You can't lump all these sorts of things together. Sarah, I meant this comment for the larger audience, hopefully connects in the beauty industry, not you whatsoever. Anyway, my 2 cents.
Seriously…? The term “cruelty free” DOES have a very specific definition when applied to skincare and makeup. It’s not some umbrella term, like you’d like to believe.
It’s 2023, and people are still using ridiculous excuses like this to justify their disgusting and inexcusable level of vanity, and apathy. Animal testing is never acceptable because there is no system of informed consent here, animals are exploited; forced against their will for experimenters to pull their eyelids apart and apply chemicals onto the eye. They are forced to ingest large amounts of the chemical products. In the similarly horrific skin test, experimenters typically apply chemicals onto the shaved skin of rabbits to check for the severity of the reaction. After the test is over, they kill the animals. That is the reality of it.
It’s pointless in pharmaceutical industries also. 92% of the drugs that pass animal testing fail in the first trial on human subjects.
If we as a whole made more ethical purchases with our skincare and makeup, companies would be forced to stop animal testing. This is all about supply and demand. We should be supporting cruelty free methods of testing. Companies like EpiDerm, SkinEthic, and EpiSkin have already developed human skin equivalent systems which can be used for testing chemical reactions. Cruelty free methods exist, but large companies don’t bother to do it in these ways because 1)not enough consumers care, and 2)It’s a more expensive procedure for them (aka they are greedy).
I’m truly sick of the ignorance when it comes to animal testing, and that is my “2 cents”.
Shame, you lost me at animal testing.
