* Milky-Lotion Update* I see a lot of people asking about the 'milky lotion' , 'moisturising milk', 'milk' variety so let me quickly explain - I didn't even think to include it in this video (silly me 🥲) because in Japanese the 'toners' in this video are a completely different product to their 'milky' alternative. Tbh I didn't even know they called them 'milky-lotions' since I always look at product info on their official Japanese website! Lotion (English translation) = Keshousui (Japanese name) = Toner (English product equivalent) Milky Lotion (English translation) = Nyueki (Japanese name) = Emulsion (English product equivalent) Emulsions are quite common in Japanese Skincare since it is a step you can add in between your toner and moisturiser, since it has both water and oil content to bridge that gap. It is great if you want to add more moisture without having to use something heavy, or even for people who have oilier skin and want to skip a moisturiser all together, an emulsion can just be a light textured moisturiser! Hope that clears things up - I didn't realise how many people were interested in the milky version so pls give this comment a thumbs up if you want to see a video dedicated on them in the future!! 💖💖💖
Hi Tina, you forget to include the exfoliating lotion version, the tamagohada mild peeling lotion hada labo. It's a good option for beginner or sensitive skin, and quite famous in my country. Maybe you can include this lotion into your review next time.

Yaay! Was hoping for this content. Saw your previous video on this and since then they indeed relaunched so this is so helpful and interesting. Thank you!
Thanks for the update! I use the Hada Labo shirojyun lotions as a vitamin C serum haha (bc my skin usually can’t tolerate vit c!) and was thinking of trying the premium! Excited to hurt my wallet :’)
Thank you for this updated review Tina. Very helpful. 👍 I avoided shirojyun because I'm allergic to arbutin, so I'm glad to know that hada labo has reformulated it. I doubt, however, if I'm going to try it despite the reformulation as I'm quite satisfied with the shirojyun premium variant. I also think the premium one is better ingredients-wise, because it has licorice root extract in addition to tranexamic acid. So it's good not only for brightening but also for calming the skin.
I was disappointed when I found out they've reformulated the basic lotion toner (the first one you showed) when I went into the Asian skincare shop, but I was advised to try the new formulation and I'm more obsessed with the new one actually.

Could you do a Shiseido review? And compare it to SK-II and Shu Uemura? Shiseido is my favourite skincare brand and would love to try some more of their products. Thank you beautiful
Could you do a review of the hada labo gokujyun premium anti aging lotion? It's a new product (I think) and that's why I can't find reviews, besides you explain it very well
Absolutely no toner has been able to hydrate my skin like the hada labo lotions. I've ran out of my refills now and I'm using other toners and they're great but no way as hydrating. I have really dry, flaky prone skin lol and I know when I'm finished with my current toners I'm going back to hada labo. Also the high moist toner from cezanne.
I bought hada labo same packaging as the new white bottle but when i opened it, it is an actual lotion consistency and is white not watery toner consistency. How to differentiate this when the bottle looks the same?
Are these all full of hyaluronic acid? If so I assume I can’t use these as I live in the desert bc it would suck all the moisture right out of my skin.

That helped me a lot to finally find the perfect cream an lotion for me, as I can't stand a feeling of having cream on my face. Great video. I was surprised that you didn't mention one of the key benefits of the Gold Premium bottle - the inclusion of 3% urea! Urea is fabulous for adding hydration. I'm wondering whether the blue Premium bottle also includes urea (and if that's why it's also called Premium)?

I just bought a premium shirojyun light version for hyperpigmentation but i don't remember if it's the old or new version, i guess the old one, so thank you so much for this video! They should hire you at hada Labo as a lotion specialist or something hahahah you're the best Tina thank you 🙏🏻✨
the shirojyun premium is now available here too (Indonesia) and yeaaa, arbutin is gone and changed with tranexamic acid. but don't know about shirojyun reguler version, may be next i'll try it because the packaging is also changed here
I'm a fan of the Premium lotion and l'm looking forward to using the new version. But I do feel all the changes to the formulas and labels (although good) are just to cater to the western market.
Hi there! I bought a Hada Labo Shirojyun Premium from Stylevana and the colour of the lotion is white. The packaging is the new version and at the back it says whitening milk. Is it a different bottle altogether? Can I still use it as a toner or like a moisturizer?
Oh no, I have two bottles of HL Gokujyun that I have in hand and they are old version. Okay, I will buy the new version when I finish them! Thanks for the info!
It’s my first time watching your videos and I have to tell you how UTTERLY THANKFUL I am that you made these! I have been using Japanese skin care for over a decade and never realised how much I was missing out just because I’m not fluent in Japanese. I had been Hada Labo lotions for years because they were so recommended to me without knowing exactly how to use it as there was no in-depth guide back then so I appreciate it so much more now that you have equipped me with the proper information on how best to use them and maximise their ingredients… so thank you so much from Montréal! I will be watching your other videos now!
Toner = lotion?? Okay now that clears the confusion I had during the previous video about hada labo lotions 😂 I thought maybe that's just how japanese lotions look like hahaha okay now I understand >
After using this toner does we can use a serum or not? Will it be beneficial? I've a sensitive + combo skin. Actually I haven't try any J beauty products. So kinda confused tho....
Nooo, why did they take out the arbutin in the Shirojyun line? 😔. Arbutin was one of the most gentle skin brightening ingredients that would not irritate my sensitive skin 😔
these variations are quite gimmicky given how much water they contain. hydration is the main function and for that the premium version is the most cost effective.
I’m so confused by these lotions. 😂 I love the one the sell in Europe but not sure what version that equates to in the original Japanese range. If anyone knows, I’d love to know! I’ve just accidentally bought the Gokujyun Premium Milk, I’ve been quite impressed by that to be fair!

Thank u for the update. You actually influenced me in purchasing this Japanese lotion brand and I'm loving it. Question, would you still apply a skin conditioner before using the Hada Labo lotions?
A skin conditioner is still considered a toner in Japan although usually has ingredients to help 'condition the skin' as I said in the video = help with breakouts so you can definitely use both if you wanted to (I'd recommend wipe of with the skin conditioner, then palm-applying the Hada Labo lotion) but it is not NECESSARY to use both if that makes sense!
I love Hada Labo especially their lotions. Simple with straightforward ingredients, but works really well with other products. In Indonesia, we have 7 types of the lotions which are manufactured locally and distributed in the 100ml sized bottle. They are: - Gokujyun Lotion (white bottle with orange strip) -> Tacky, trigger tiny bumps, my skin becomes oilier. - Gokujyun Light Lotion (white bottle with light green strip) -> Haven't tried it yet. - Shirojyun Lotion (dark blue bottle) -> The very first toner I've tried and LOVE IT 😍. Hydrating without being too much, neither tacky nor greasy. - Gokujyun Alpha Lotion (red bottle) -> Tacky, trigger tiny bumps, my skin becomes oilier and duller. - Tamagohada Mild Peeling Lotion (pale blueish-green bottle) -> This one contains PHA for mild and gentle exfoliation. Another favorite 😍. Help to control my pores and even my skin tones well. - Gokujyun Premium Lotion (gold bottle) -> Absolute favorite 😍. I love the Urea in it, 4th ingredients. - Shirojyun Premium Lotion (darker blue bottle just like in the vid). This one just recently came out in the market so it's still only available in online shops. Haven't tried it yet.
@@snatchthesnitch7935 Lol. I'm not surprised, Hada Labo was hidden gem before finally blew up in 2019-2020 bc of quarantine (suddenly everyone's into skincare). Emulsions are quite common in Japanese Skincare since it is a step you can add in between your toner and moisturiser, since it has both water and oil content to bridge that gap.

Thank you so much for this! I live in Japan but my Japanese is terrible and I've been meaning to try this line out but was overwhelmed with the selection. This was so helpful!
Salam!
Im sucker for pearls and seeing your jewerely just made my day, and ofc Tyyy for the updated guide!!!!
Hi tina!!! I hope you also do all the Milk lotion series and what skin type it is suitable for. Been watching your vlog since I discovered your channel!! I bought all the j-skincare you've recommended and it works perfectly on my acne-prone oily skin! Ive been trying a lot of skincare and none of them works for me, but through you I have finally found the skincare that works for me. You are such a big help!!! ♥♥
Aww I am so glad my recommendations worked well for you 🥺💗💗
Dw I am working on the milk lotions! Haha I have been collecting them bit by bit and pretty sure I have just one missing to complete my collection!
@@TinaTanakaHarris ♥♥♥♥ ill wait and im so excited!!! Thank you for giving us all the infos we needed!!
Great video. I was surprised that you didn't mention one of the key benefits of the Gold Premium bottle - the inclusion of 3% urea! Urea is fabulous for adding hydration. I'm wondering whether the blue Premium bottle also includes urea (and if that's why it's also called Premium)?
I loved the old video but this is amazing Tina! Thanks for really breaking it down by range, type and the old/new versions. And the tips/tricks for choosing and usage 🥺❤️ it was information packed but so clear and not technical at all
Just ordered a few hada labo items because they are fungal acne safe too!
I just received mine from Stylevana and the Gold one it looks like a cream it's not transparent. Is that normal? It's literally a cream in a bottle. Please help
I just bought a premium shirojyun light version for hyperpigmentation but i don't remember if it's the old or new version, i guess the old one, so thank you so much for this video! They should hire you at hada Labo as a lotion specialist or something hahahah you're the best Tina thank you 🙏🏻✨
the shirojyun premium is now available here too (Indonesia) and yeaaa, arbutin is gone and changed with tranexamic acid. but don't know about shirojyun reguler version, may be next i'll try it because the packaging is also changed here
and btw shirojyun here just 1 version (light reguler and light premium), hopefully they'll launch the richer shirojyun like Japanese version
please do a review on Sana's Namerakahonpo lotions too!! it seems quite popular in Japan but I haven't seen anyone do a full review.
Where I can find Hadalabo products in Narita or Tokyo ?
I'm a fan of the Premium lotion and l'm looking forward to using the new version. But I do feel all the changes to the formulas and labels (although good) are just to cater to the western market.
Can I use the whitening lotion on my hands and arms? They have darkened a lot due to sun damage.
Could you do video about hair products and hair care ? Xxx
After work I headed off to the pharmacy to purchase the 極潤プレミアム(the gold one ). I can't wait to use it! Thanks for making the video🙂
Omg I just watched your old hadalabo video the other day! So excited to see an updated version.
This sole video by itself deserves an instant sub to your channel.
I actually subscribed to her channel because of her previous Hada labo video!
Hi there! I bought a Hada Labo Shirojyun Premium from Stylevana and the colour of the lotion is white. The packaging is the new version and at the back it says whitening milk. Is it a different bottle altogether? Can I still use it as a toner or like a moisturizer?
That one you bought would be an emulsion so more like a moisturiser - check out the pinned comment I just wrote with a quick explanation!
@@TinaTanakaHarris Thank you very much for the info! :)
Oh no, I have two bottles of HL Gokujyun that I have in hand and they are old version. Okay, I will buy the new version when I finish them! Thanks for the info!
Can I use this on my body?
Please reply
Thank you for the lovely video! 😍 Just a question, how will we know the expiration date of the product? Thank you.
Oh no! I love the arbutin line. :(
How often do I use the hada labo shiroyjun alpha arbutin?
So kinda confused tho....
you can use a serum if you want to
can hada labo shirojyun premium Tranexamic acid version remove melasma?
Can I use those lotions without a moisturizer?
Nooo, why did they take out the arbutin in the Shirojyun line? 😔. Arbutin was one of the most gentle skin brightening ingredients that would not irritate my sensitive skin 😔
I knowwwww, I kinda wish they kept the Arbutin in Shirojyun too as it was my go-to 🥺
Hada labo is one of my favourite skin care and will definitely bring bunch of them with me when I leave japan in 2 weeks!
Thank you so much for this in-depth guide! It’s so so helpful. I’ve been using the regular type for a while now but I’ll try another one now 💗
these variations are quite gimmicky given how much water they contain. hydration is the main function and for that the premium version is the most cost effective.
I want to try them so bad but I’m terrified of buying things online. 💀
The yellow one saved my skin when I messed up my skin barrier! Love it.
Can I layer the Hada Labo products?
Like below (i have dry skin)
AM:
Oil cleanser
Hydrating cleanser
Hatomugi skin conditioner
Hada labo blue (regular) as toner
Hada labo gold (rich) as serum
Melano cc (oil type? I think 😅)
Hada labo red (milky) as light cream
Purito daily go to sunscreen
Abib quick sunstick (to reapply sunscreen)
PM:
Oil cleanser
Hydrating cleanser
Hatomugi skin conditioner
Hada labo blue (regular) as toner
Hada labo gold (rich) as serum
Cerave resurfacing retinol
Hada labo red (milky) as light cream
Cerave moisturizing cream
I don't have anything for exfoliating as I don't know what product to use.😅
Thank you in advance to those who would notice and respond. ❤
for sure! they don't have actives so they would layer fine with anything :)
@@TinaTanakaHarris ohmygosh! Thank you 💚
very helpful, thank you
Thank u for the update.
They are:
- Gokujyun Lotion (white bottle with orange strip) -> Tacky, trigger tiny bumps, my skin becomes oilier.
Ooo thank you for all the wonderful info!!
indonesians really love hada labo. whenever people ask for toner/cleanser recommendation on twitter, hada labo is just like a template answer! 😄
@@snatchthesnitch7935 Lol. I'm not surprised, Hada Labo was hidden gem before finally blew up in 2019-2020 bc of quarantine (suddenly everyone's into skincare). They're more affordable and works well in humid climate here. Also their products are all alcohol+fragrance free which affordable local brands can't relate with their heavily perfumed stuffs.
@@shintamayangsari6628 agreed. can't stand those edgy indie brands who like to charge us like crazy for tiny little bottles 😭
@@snatchthesnitch7935 Especially can't stand it for their sunscreen products. Tiny amount + crazy high price + old chemical sunscreen filters = busted?!
Thanks, but no thanks 😐
Very informative ! Thx Tina !
I just ordered the blue, white, and gold one.
Hey I'm from India . I want to buy Japanese skincare products from Amazon Japan. Can you please provide links to buy authentic products. The products them I'm looking for are naturie hatumogi skin conditioner, melano cc vit c , biore Aqua rich watery essence sunscreen, kose softymo speedy cleansing oil(the pink bottle)
Hi, I was reading some reviews on Amazon, someone says that the product she purchased had an sticker that said that some of the ingredients can cause cancer...☹☹ any information about that..?! 🤔 tks..! 😇
Probably talking about the golden bottle which has mineral oil
Hi Tina! The Hada Labo Premium Whitening Lotion sold in my country seems to have alpha arbutin, niacinamide and 3-o-ethyl ascorbic acid as its active ingredients. Do you know if this is a different formula sold only in specific countries while globally the one sold is the one mentioned in your video, with licorice root extract and tranexamic acid as its actives?
I have a blue bottle with milky texture..white lotion like..pls help someone..was i tricked ?
Many people said they ruined the formulation and no one is liking the new versions of hado labo n people are breaking out from it
Is it true? Anyway?
New n old which is better?
Should I consider buying?
I so confused I don't want to waste my money
Is it alcohol free?
