Exactly. You add more air, you need to add more fuel to get max HP. I’m actually from the pwc world. I have a Kawasaki ultra 300x that is basically stock except some forged pistons that are Oem compression. Ski has a Eaton SC on it. I currently have the SC apart bc I just redid the needle bearings. Was looking at the housing and was amazed how rough it was. Only thing I was gonna do was shape some of the square corners and put a little taper on them so it’s not hitting a brick wall. I plan on doing an ecu and maybe a pulley change to go from 16 to 18-19lbs of boost. I still do t think that’s enough to start removing big chunks of material out.
I work on well pumps for residential, big city wells and factory/mines. It’s all mostly submersible pumps but some turbines. You ever work on goulds pumps? They are they main brand we use.

I’m no “gear head” but I have never understood the thinking of lower compression just to run the same or slightly more boost to make more power (on Ford mod motors). Even in the 3v days it was proven that if you have the octane then you could run 11-1 or 12-1 compression make good, safe power on relatively low boost. But then you had the guys that SCREAMED 9.5-1 compression with boost or you’d grenade your stuff. I guess it all goes back to as Alex put it, “what power adder your running and where it’s “peak efficiency island” is at.” Just my .02¢
The lower compression holdover is likely from factory turbo systems and for safety with stock tunes for multiple regions gas types humidity levels and air pressure variances. The aftermarket guys who scream if you don't do this it will grenade are usually the ones who have blown up motors due to bad tunes, poor installs, or general stupidity. With all the high octane and water/meth injection you shouldn't have any issues these days with blowing ring lands and grenadine the block unless your half assign a build. Sadly there are still alot of people that start messing with stuff without doing research.
10:30 bigger blower takes more energy to spool, as it is heavier! so I am picking up the lightest blower I can find, matching my assembly! although, efficiency point of view is something else! a gen 5 makes less heat, less heat with same boost equals more oxygen, equals freaking more WHO from same boost!
