    (omg I thought I commented already but maybe I'm crazy and I did not?!)
    Hi Iji! I'm Moni, the second vtuber featured in this video! Thank you so much for the critique, it was really insightful, and I'm glad my design checks a lot of the boxes. My model does have bright red eyeshadow and a smaller hat, but that particular image I shared is a bit different oops 😅
    For practicality I was thinking of rigging the hat so it could change size, which would match up with my lore! I am a plant spirt vtuber that runs a bath house in the mountains, and part of my abilities is water & plant bending. Big hat could be used for just chatting or ASMR streams where my face is the focus, and then I can toggle the hat size for art or gaming streams when it needs to take up less space.
    It was really interesting to see you validate a lot of the assumptions I had about my design, so thank you again! Would love to see more of this series!

    heya! I'm Alb (the first person) and WOW that was some great feedback! ❤️
    Appreciate it! You handled that super respectfully and made it informative at the same time, love your approach.
    I'm a 3D modeler too and because I don't really like working with thick outlines too much I'm also faced with that "face blending into hair" issue you commented on - your recommendations are definitely something I'm gonna implement ✌️
    About the whole design concept thing - I'm a mushroom dragon! The duck is because of my username (Entenalb, Ente means duck in German, so it's just a little nod to that and easy to understand for my German audience)
    So floofy dragon ears, horns and a mushroom dragon tail.
    the things on the pants are a nod to one of the black and white 2 protagonists, probably makes more sense when rendered more clearly lol
    Thank you for your time! I also saw you following me on some platforms, that meant a lot to me and really made me happy.
    Hope you're doing well! ❤

      Hi there! Ah I'm glad you liked it!
      I saw you on VGen a couple days after I recorded this and was like YO I RECOGNIZE THAT DESIGN, your model is so cool, you have such a nice style!
      Mushroom dragon makes sense! I was reading your name as a play on words of "antenna," that's fun that you have that reference with the duck!
      Hope you're doing well too!

    3:30 when i was designing my old vtuber model, i asked many questions about design. And on of main things of outfit was the pattern. I changed the pattern so many time. And in the end i was told to have a more proper focal point. I feel like people dont point it out often. But i do find it really helpful for everyone to know it as well. thank u

  • @echoesvtuber
    @echoesvtuber 9 месяцев назад +59

    Hi! I wanted to thank you for showcasing my design and its respective critiques (I'm the last person showcased)! Definitely made me a bit nervous initially, but I definitely enjoyed hearing your thoughts and comments on all of the designs overall! It is something that could be helpful to many people who are still working on or on improving their own.
    To add some clarification on your critiques, the fact that silhouette isn't a focus is intentional as it was never part of the design process. Echoes is wearing a combination of a military uniform/space bodysuit, so the details are intentionally minimalistic and sparce. After all, this is a uniform (can get damaged and needs to be replaced), so anything in excess can be a liability. There is an emphasis on function over aesthetic for the most part. They also are primarily fighting in zero gravity.
    Also, in regards to motif, there isn't one. Lol. I kinda just combined a lot of things I liked. There are some space related concepts (like a four pointed star and the planet Earth due to lore reasons), but they aren't involved in the design too much.
    The cape is there just because I like capes, but a short one to prevent it from getting snagged or caught on things. Aha. And the general patterning of the uniform is taken from an anime called Crest of the Stars which I thought was pretty cool. I also like military uniforms overall too, but didn't want too many bells and whistles to a uniform that didn't need them. The general uniform shape is taken from the Gundam Seed ZAFT uniforms.
    After watching your video, I do recommend adding a section to your submission form where the submittor can provide some outfit specific details or a quick summary of their lore. It could add some much needed context to the outfit in question and answer any questions you may have.
    P.S: In regards to the quote of "Reminiscent of a distant past in a faraway future," it mostly refers to the inspirations and lore of the character, not to the outfit design. Because Echoes is primarily inspired by Crest of the Stars which was made in the 1990s, supposed to have fluffy bangs like characters from the 1990s era, and has a slight retro feel (with the tiara and belt style) that can remind you of older JRPGS like Dragon Quest, but is primarily a sci-fi and distant future focused character, then this quote reflects those concepts and ideas.

    • @squiiji3D
      @squiiji3D  9 месяцев назад +23

      Keeping things sleek for zero gravity and because it's a uniform makes sense of the silhouette being the way it is! I can't believe I didn't realize the Gundam Seed influence, I went for something more obscure haha but I've never heard of Crest of the Stars so I might look into it
      I did add a section to the form for explaining concepts, this video was a little bit of a trial run so I could work out the quirks (:
      Thank you again for submitting, your design is really cool!

    The last design has me thinking about (Japanese) penguins.

    This is why you're quickly becoming one of my favorites, giving commentary on parts of the industry other Vtubers often don't talk about. Most don't talk about the actual industry at all. A lot do but it's all the same, some drama going on or stuff you can easily research on your own. And then a small portion like you talk about the inner workings where you actually need to be part of it to understand, and making it easily digestible to understand.

    Okay so the question: is the form also open to pngtubers as well? I know one of your main topics of your videos are vtubers and the for quite literally mentions "vtuber design", but watching this video actually really wanted me to submit my pngtuber design that I worked on (that's already been finalized) but I would love to hear your thoughts on it, since I do plan on making different designs in the future as well.

    i think the 2nd design is good but maybe not as a vtuber design, i think it would work very well as an anime con mascot or something !

    The third one is a reminder to myself of what hole to not fall into. Because its veryyyy easy in this hyper competitive industry to gravitate towards making a design that doesn't take risks or goes out of the box in any way. (How many times have we seen a slim-thick sakura wolf character with a modified cutesy kimono and long colored hair?)
    But in fact -- designs like this are trying so hard to fit in that it becomes basic, unmemorable, and a bit of a turn off.

    As an avid consumer...i like women with even proportions that are clearly in their 30s. Miss me with them loli shit. All men should be like 80s arnold. Fkin full roided massive dudes.
