Well as a descendant of the vikings I would have said "If we actually wanted it, we would just have taken it" ;P But to be fair much of the history in Britain is also our history, as much comes from vikings that settled down there.

Wonderful tour. The Yeoman Warder is fantastic, so very well versed in the history of the Tower. Hard to believe that America is so new compared to English historical sites. Really puts it in perspective.

I remember my youngest son the first time at the age of about six the first time he saw a yeoman warder ( Beefeater) at the Tower Of London shouting "look dad a beefburger" and the guy heard him.
when i watch BBCnewsreaders, they sit with laptops and auto screens for half an hour. William did this for an hour without scripts. and endured his public. a great GREAT man of professional means. salute you sir.

Truly brilliant and engaging tour, I was fully captured for the whole 54 minute video which is a rarity on RUclips. I recall a former Yeoman warden occasionally come into the shop I worked in, he was always similar character to this man, no nonsense and good stories to tell. I wish I knew more about him. When I lived in London I went to the tower soooo many times I could do this tour off by heart!!! I had a lot of friends and family visit and my boss got free tickets so we went a lot
Omg thank you for posting this! My family and I visited London about 5 yrs ago so our kids could see the sights and learn our history. This Yeoman is well known as a guide, there is no wonder why. He is thorough, super knowledgeable, funny, witty, he's engaging. The best tour guide ever! And he's also a veteran soldier ❤

Bit of a crime that in 500 years, its the first time they've started making redundancies amongst them. I'm sure they could of made redundancies elsewhere or paid the exec team less money during the pandemic. Especially when being redundant from this role means having to also buy a new house due to the house coming with the job.

What you have there is a typical Army sense of humour. It is mostly just like that except for the language, which is usually a lot more fruity, but that adds to the fun. Normally you roll up, this is the light version. The culture may well have changed, but the comedy is the same ..... irony :)

William wasn't French, would not have thought of himself as French. He was Norman, (Norse man). They had conquered an area of France 150 years previous. Brilliant tour :-)
Yes! And that is why ,the Channel Island's, last of the Duchy of Normandy, own England :-) Stil not wise to tell a Norman there are French. Actually the Norseman were given the land in an attempt to keepthem quiet. Didn't work though.
