Li auto has just become the third profitable EV manufacturer in the last quarter even though most of their manufactured vehicles are Plug-In Hybrids.

@@LeMay-f7p That the issue, we don’t know the number of battery cycles it can endure while still being under warranty (so still being over 80% of its original capacity) ? For EVs, I would say that a minimum should be at least ~1500 cycles (I think LFP battery packs are usually warrantied for ~3000 cycles and can actually most of the times do much more than that (6000 cycles)).

We went to have a look at the Mega last night (in Chengdu). It is a cool looking vehicle compared to its competitors, the Zeeker and its brother the Volvo. We are currently in the market for something like this. The advertised range and charging speed is very good. Inside I was a little surprised, materials used do not stand up even to the Zeeker and certainly not the Volvo which has in our opinion a more premium feel. The biggest eye opener for me was the space available, this is longer than it’s competitors and I expected there to be more internal space for seating but the third row is unusable when placing the second row in a comfortable position. It barely has any more space than my nearly eight year old Model X. This is down to poor packaging and oversized captain’s chairs in the second row. It is very aggressively priced and if range and recharge speed is paramount this is the best of the bunch. If comfort and luxury with slightly less range is your thing there are better offerings.

the look of this car is polarizing for sure..a design like that will appeal mostly to Europeans i would suspect..they would sell well in europe..xpeng x9 will however sell more to the masses..
it is more in line with Tesla typa designs i would say..but its a great car and their claims about speed of charging etc are correct from what some testers have stated on their channels...(live testing shown)...

  • @fifthager

The car/van/MPV distinctions belong in the ICE era. This is the logical shape for all EVs, whatever the size. Three-box designs separated the noisy engine from the passengers. If houses were built like cars they would have doors that you have to stoop to enter and very low ceilings. The realisation that EV components allow a tall vehicle with loads of interior space and good visibility without compromising drag or handling is taking time to sink in. The first cars looked like horseless carriages, and most EVs look like engineless cars. Li Auto is showing the way.

The whole power chase is idiotic. Give me an efficient car with decent range and 7-9 sec 0-60. My car has got 16.7 sec 0-60 and I’m usually the first guy from the traffic lights here in Korea. Nobody cares. Nobody. The only downside is when joining 70km/h motorway from standing still - a very particular situation and the only time I wish I had more power.

Not worth it at all compared to diesel cars and low fuel consumption, driving electric cars is way more expensive! I am talking about public chargers where you usually need to go if your trip is more than 200-300km in one way. Most electric cars get 200-300km range, it's even worse during winter. First you pay this much and then you also wait long until your charge is complete. Those charging companies in Europe just want to maximize their profits. Even more than gas stations.
