All of what you said is what instantly made me a fan of Amira 6 years ago when I accidentally came across her audition for HGT. That stillness, that calmness, that in the moment, combined of course with the beautiful voice she has was there in 9 year old Amira. And now 16, she will be 17 in March, she has not changed, still singing in that same still, in the moment manner. Her stage presence is electrifyingly calm. Far more 'dramatic' for her stillness than some singers who seem to set out to be dramatic and impress onstage. Amira is just naturally at home on a big stage and her voice is just beautiful. Brilliant reaction. You put into words what I feel about her.
I had the privilege to watch Amira live in concert in Turnhout(Belgium) in december 2019, when she was 15. She is really a natural talent and she is very spiritual/religious: she is so aware from the fact that her voice is a great gift. Amira says every time: "It is a gift from God". Maybe that's also the reason she does use microphones: just to protect her voice. An she is not pressed at all: when she was 7-8 years old and told her parents that she would love to sing "opera-songs" they told her that she had to figure out herself how to do that because they were no singers. They wouldn't have thought that their daughter would take the singing so seriously, let alone that she would become an international known teenager. So the first years (till she has song in Holland got talent) she has totally taught herself at home how to do it, just by watching and imitate RUclips videos: that's Amira's base of the art of singing. And since her performances in Holland got Talent (in 2013) she has of course professional training.
As an American I have lived in the Netherlands for almost 40 years now in two different time periods. I saw Amira when she won the Holland's Got Talent show at the age of 9 in 2013 or 7 years ago. She was 14 when she first sang, Gabriella's Song, in Sweden. I come from a classical music family and find Amira to be the exceptional natural, peace-of-mind infusing singing talent whose warmth and inner spirit resonates quietly in her singing. You described her qualities extremely well. Two other pieces she sings beautifully are "Your Love," Song from her New Album - You Tube 2018; and a song Amira had a hand in writing because it was about the passing away of her grandmother, "In the Stars." She was 12 or 13 when she sang this song which shows the low, soft exquisite tones she is also equally capable of doing so naturally.
@@VocalSplendorStudios , definitely yes, as Frank Thomas mentioned, "Your Love" and "In the Stars" are must-sees! As he said, "In the Stars" is about her grandmother who got to see Amira's audition on Holland's Got Talent when she was 9, but then passed away just a couple of weeks later. It's my favorite song of Amira's (one reason being that, facially, she looks so much like one of my granddaughters in the video). Be sure to have some Kleenex tissues handy for that one! Another one of Amira's live performances which leaves me almost speechless is "Amazing Grace." Beautiful instrumentation and backup choir voices. It even has two bagpipe players in kilts!
@@VocalSplendorStudios Here is the performance to react to for Your Love. Look up Amira Willighagen~Max Proms Concert~ The Netherlands. Amira was just 13 when she performed at Max Proms just a few days before she left Holland with her mother and brother to live in South Africa, her mother's home country. Stunning performance. Love your reactions of Amira and of Angelina although Amira is my favorite.
Just beautiful, I saw here on Holland's got talent when she was 9 years old, was well grounded, even then. The judges didn't give an easy start, but she stood her ground and blew them all away!
Since I found out about Amira several months back, I have also noticed the two amazing things you mentioned, Valerie -- her posture and her regal bearing which presents just an incredible queenly aura. The thing I find ineresting about that is that her name "Amira" means "Princess" in Arabic! And she is indeed that, both inside and out, not only as a singer but as a wonderful human being and humanitarian. She just turned 17 as of yesterday, March 27th! So she would have been 14 in this performance! Just incredible!
Well, only three times it was impossible to understand what she was singing and her vowels were not open enough. The accent was quite heavy. I am sure that as she gets older she'll work more with that in all the languages she sings in. That takes years. I'm impressed that she remembered the words. :)
Amira's name means princess in Arabic, and that regal presence that she gives off is wonderfully natural. Amira is also a very spiritual young women, that's why we love her so much.
david price. Beautiful. And also when u switch the letters it says Maria, named after the mother of the Lord Jeshua. Then u know why she's special and so gifted.
Thank you for your very positive and detailed reaction. For me the positive comments mean much more when they come from a professional adjudicator such as yourself! 🙂 I also watched a reaction by a Swedish woman who was very impressed with Amira's interpretation of what she said is a very special song in Sweden. You mentioned Amira's stillness as she sings, and I think that has been a trademark since her audition at age 9 in Holland's Got Talent, where she seemed very calm and still until she was finished singing and got the 'golden ticket'! I am a fan of Amira and I appreciate your positive reaction! 🙂
Just another quick comment Valerie. You mention her stillness & being in the moment & also that some singers get really nervous. When Amira was either 9 or 10, she was asked how nervous she gets & her answer was something like; No, I don’t ever get nervous, just excited. By memory, this was just before an American performance. This rings so true, as I have never picked up on any nerves or tension in any of her performances. In the Holland’s Got Talent semi final, when she sang Ave Maria, she waved enthusiastically to the crowd whilst walking to the podium to sing. I have also never seen her strain in the higher register, even as a 10 year old. Amira Willighagen , as we know is an out & out prodigy who has been given the greatest gifts that could be bestowed . The Sound of Music medley at age 15 again displays all of her fabulous attributes, where she has developed in both voice & personally. When you get a minute, it’s one that I’m sure you’ll love. Thanks again for your in depth reaction analysis . It’s been great. Cheers Graeme
Thank you Valerie - I was lucky enough to be at this performance in Pretoria - first time hearing Amira live - amazing to be about 20 metres away from her - Classics is Groot is an annual showcase of mainly Afrikaans talent in South Africa with mainly Afrikaans support - with Amira being Dutch and her mum Frieda South African born and Afrikaans as well Amira has a very solid support base of Afrikaans fans in South Africa - the Arena is massive and as Dafydd has intimated due to its size there is alot of huge speaker banks around the Arena to get the sound to all parts - quite hard on the ear after a two hour show .....look forward to your honest advice - thank you...
Amira was 14 when she sang this. The name of the piece is actually "Gabriella's Sang", which is Swedish for "Gabriella's Song", and Amira is singing in Swedish. Goodness only knows how many different languages she sings in. When she was younger, (and maybe now, also, as far as I know,) she and her brother Fincent (Dutch for Vincent,) researched the songs, and marked them up with the correct pronunciations. Seems they did a really good job.
Amira has a Dutch father and a southafrican mother. She was born in 2004. So in 2018 she was 14 yr old. In 2013 she won the finale of Holland got talent. She moved with her mother to SouthAfrica to work on her career. Better possibilities there to combine with school and great vocal teacher for opera. She does a restricted amount of performances abroad cause her her parents don’t want her to get a burnout. She is involved in a lot of charity. She surrected a foundation that creates playgrounds for pour children in townships.
Thank you so much Valerie. What a great reaction with your wonderful knowledge & experience. A little on Amira’s journey... she won Holland’s Got Talent at the age of nine, without a single singing lesson, & taught herself by watching uTube videos with the likes of Pavarotti. Amira was born in Holland & moved to South Africa a few years back. Her Mother was from South Africa originally. When she was seven, and visiting South Africa, she noticed that the schools had no playground equipment for the children to play, & she said that was not good, as quote “every child has the right to play “. So, as soon as she received monies from her performances, she set about forming a foundation & putting her monies into donating playgrounds. To date , I believe she has donated some 13 playgrounds, which are not only expensive, but for a child to even think to do this, is extraordinary. Amira is also an ambassador for world peace. You mentioned her calmness & being in the moment etc. Yes, this is Amira . Down to earth and just a beautiful human being. Amira has not had many performances lately due to Covid & lockdowns, but I could direct you to a couple of the more recent ones. Sound of Music medley in December 2019 , aged 15 where her diction & overall performance is magnificent. The Lords Prayer. This was part of a live streaming concert in late 2020, aged 16. You may have to get around copyright restrictions some how. It has been reacted on by a couple of others. Anyway, I just thought you would be interested in a little of Amira’s background, & thanks again for the great reaction & am so pleased that you’ve come on board to enjoy this wonderful young Soprano with the voice of an angel.
Just a bit of background information: This performance was in the "Sun Arena" in Pretoria, South Africa; and Amira was 14, here. The Sun Arena seats upward of 9000 people, so it is about four times the size of the average opera house; therefore natural acoustics are out of the question. You will not see Amira without a close-held microphone, until her Christmas Concert performance in December 2020, at age 16.

@@VocalSplendorStudios Amira Willighagen was born in Nimega, The Netherlands, on March 24, 2004. amira is already heading towards being the world greatest singer. amira voice has the best tone in the world. amira has a spirituality about her she angelic.
Amira is truly a representative of natural beauty and elegance, isn't she . Her angelic voice brings tears to many of us I think when listening to her singing. She'll turn 17 next month ( born 27 march 2004 in Nijmegen The Netherlands ) living in Potchefstroom South Africa since 2018 . where she finances charities building playgrounds for schools. Your reaction is really as heartwarming and tearing as Amira's singing itself . And I really want to thank you for that. Looking forward to your next reactions on Amira's performances. They are all worth doing I think. To mention her last "The Lord's prayer" dec 2020 , or doing "The Flower duet " with Corlea Bothha live 2017 and not the least the mind blowing "Your love" live performed in sequence with "O mio babbino caro " in Max 'Proms in concert. And again , your reaction brought tears in my eyes. Thank you for that.
@@VocalSplendorStudios No Valerie , thank y o u ! Let's hope we'll soon have this pandamic thing behind us and traveling is not an issue anymore . And I sincerely hope she'll be back here in Holland again to do some concerts which I'm really looking forward to.
2018. The Holy City. Just her gorgeous voice and her Father on the piano. Please react! Very pure and simple, clear and easy to hear her voice! I stay up too late many nights watching videos that I've seen many times over and over. Very relaxing.
I have been following her from the beginning. I never forget the HGT and the judge asked her when she started singing, she was 9 yrs of age. She said she felt outside since her mum, dad and brother play several instruments, but Amira dib not play any. So she started to listen to classical tutorial on how to sing opera. In 6 months she had kearnt and went to compete in HGT and won the whole competition, she is born March 27, 2004.so she will turn 17 in a few days.
Hoping to not be a nuisance Valerie, but a performance by Amira singing Flower Duet with another Soprano is something very special, & ask you to put it to the front of your Amira reactions which I hope to hear very soon. This performance shows Amira as a true & wonderful Soprano. I have not heard a better rendition by anyone, including renown opera singers. Simply fantastic. Thanks, Graeme.
I love your reactions, Valerie. Few have the skills to react to classical music singers. You are among those few. I have followed Amira for several years. Some classical music experts think Amira is going to be the next Maria Callas. A couple of days ago I enclosed a comment here in which I suggested to you some Amira concerts. Hope you can consider some of those suggestions. Warm regards.
Hi Valerie . Hope you are doing well. I would to request you to make a reaction video on Amira's " Your Love ". Please. This is so beautiful song, so powerful her voice. Thank you very very much.
Voice of an Angel great technique Heavenly tone Beauty and grease .. All Expected but as far as I know she didn't speak one word in Swedish yet her Swedish accent was perfect 👌????!? I love Amira She is one of the Angels along with Angelina and Alma Deutscher Thanks again for wonderful reaction this is my second or third time watching this 😄 see You in the next one ~ OneLove ~🕊
Dear Valerie, As johnhill1 wrote it's from 'As It Is In Heaven', a beautiful movie that will suit your interest and more. A must watch for you. And if you do, take the original Swedish version with English subs. It was the one of the last two movies I watched with my dad, who was a amateur music conductor of a small chorus, before he got hospitalized and passed away a few months later. Man, did we enjoy that movie. It's about a famous international conductor who returns to his small remote childhood town in Sweden for early retirement. He's asked to help with the church choir. He affects and inspires the lives of all in the choir. A quote from someone who saw the movie: - It tells its tale of love, community and redemption with soap-operatic mood swings and a true believer's faith in the transcendent powers of music.
That's good to know. My Swedish is just okay but I wasn't super sure on the pronunciation, either. And I agree, her voice and presence is very special.
@@VocalSplendorStudios Well you always have to appreciate the tremendous effort they put into their performance and let the "little" things slide, BUT and here comes the BUT its the small things you have to shave off when you are a GREAT performer....
Maybe Amira's athleticism is what you're noticing in her "groundedness" and other qualities. She's a natural athlete and at one time was activley aiming for the olympics. That kind of physical training naturally helps singing and other controlled breathing activities. Of course she's blessed with wonderful vocal chops that got her a win at Holland Got Talent.
You need to ad 2 new arias and the first one is her doing the first one is last year As a medley of the sound of music from last year and the first one of i have listened to lately is Caruso
I think whether an opera singer sings with or without a microphone depends on the stage (opera house or, as here, a large event hall). I've heard Pavarotti or other famous opera singers sing with a microphone myself. 🤗🤗🤗
I cannot understand why reactions are not made of Amira`s masterpiece rendition of Plaisir D`Amour with the Tygerburg choir Can you please consider this one as well.
Oops, sent to you before I’d finished. & also shows her beautiful voice range “without “ effort or any strain whatsoever. ( Your pet aversion to child wannabes ) Another matter. I have listened intently to world renown Opera singers performing FLOWER DUET, ( 4 in total), & in my humble opinion, and without bias, Amira’s performance was streets ahead of the others. Her voice is different to other Opera singers, & I think it’s the clarity when in her top register in particular. Anyway, I thought you might be interested. Cheers, Graeme.
I wanted to add to my last comment. There just something different in Amira's voice that just draws you in like no other does to me. I use to listen to a lot of Charlotte Church about 1999-2001. Only thing was after each new album came out, I would love it and then be less interested in the earlier performances. They were good, but did not have the hold feel. I think she just burned herself out by over performing and it transformed it to have less appeal. With Amira I can enjoy her earlier performances, as much as the new ones. It might just be she is we'll rested by not over performing and being more relaxed. Either way I do not get tiered listening to any of her performances. So, do not be afraid if you back track on her earliest performances, they all are beautiful. Almost forgot about the microphone. I am glad it is there. Because watching a video with no sound would be boring. You would not have anything to listen too on these You tubes, without a microphone.
She signs in perfect Swedish, a language she doesn't understand and cannot speak. The song is from the Swedish film "Såsom i Himmelen" (As It Is in Heaven), where it is sung by Helen Sjöholm, the best Swedish female singer today.
I promise not to be a serial nuisance, & this post is somewhat lengthy, so please humour me. You’ve commented at length on how you admire Amira’s nice loose jaw, observing her in different registers. A valid theory appears to be that not only did she learn Opera by watching Operatic uTube videos, she also mimicked ( and practiced ) making faces that mirrored the Opera singers mouth movements. This was her passion at the tender age of about 7. The reason I also chose Ave Maria by Gomez at the Canisius Church, is that this performance clearly shows how natural she is
Graeme, if you have not seen it, watch ruclips.net/video/wBHxRnyfaM0/видео.html - the whole thing is worth watching, but the bit on mouth shape is in the second half of the video. You can clearly see her using this technique in her "Lord's Prayer"
Thousands of people in the audience. Also a DVD was made of this concert, will someone tell me how the hell do you make a DVD WITHOUT amplification, mixing boards and Microphones.
Ameria has just graduated high school and is thinking of going to Capetown South Africa a college and look for a music school,,,,,, One of her better songs is found on her new CD,,,,,,,,,,,called YOUR LOVE
Now, 2021, she is 16 . I liked your very honest comments about Amira . I dont think she sang anything new in 2020 but a streaming Christmas Concert . So, if you want to react to more recent songs, you must go back to 2019. May I recomend you some performances already asked by others of your leasteners: "Your Love"/ Morricone, 14 years; "Amazing Grace", 13 years; "Sancta Maria"/Mascagni and "Oh Holly Night" at Canisius Church Christmas Concert ,11 years. All this last concert is magnificent. I promise that you will be surprised with the list above. And keep following her becouse i am sure that, with Angelina Jordan, we are watching to the birth of two future legends. Very exciting... I forgot to mention the "Flower Duet/Delibes with Corlea Botha, when she was 13: magical...
She did two streaming concerts in 2020. Her voice is still beautiful and even more powerful. Yes she is 16 but in a few days March 27, she will be 17. There is only one piece on you tube The Lords Prayer from Dec. 2020. The only thing right now very big enforcement of the copyright issues. If they release these concerts again might try them. Not expensive. For me in the states they were $7.50 and $11.00 plus a little adjustment from my credit card transfer fees. I mean less than the cost of Hamburger.

@@mariajosemascarenhas2375 You have to remember when she did it. She recorded during early covid times. So I believe with the help of her brother put this together. It was a time when earlier some said she lost her voice. So she put this together to let us know she is back. With no concerts and no recordings happening at the time. Considering she pulled this off in 12 hours, including the editing and posting it. Sometimes videos like this show she is a different performer, compared to others. I have been waiting and hoping that you would have by this reacted to a particular performance by Amira. This is of Nessan Dorma @ the CIG Concert in Pretoria South Africa in December 2017 when she was a mere13 years of age. In it she is not only extremely beautiful in her yellow gown but her performance is simply out of this world - to use the modern vernacular 'mind blowing'. The video clip of her performance was recently taken down from RUclips but has now be restored. So it would be nice if you could react to it asap in case it is taken down again. When it was taken down I messaged Amira on her Official Online Web Site - Amira-Online.com and asked if the video could be restored to RUclips. I'm not sure if my message reached her, was dealt with by her management or simply ignored as I did not check for a response. Maybe it caused a response or then again maybe the restoration was going to occur anyway.

Thank you! I typically do not approve of young opera singers on reality TV but Amira is quite a different story.

@@delloso6205 , yes, you are correct! Sorry! "Higher mathematics" was never my strong point in school! LOL! :D
Just beautiful, I saw here on Holland's got talent when she was 9 years old, was well grounded, even then. The judges didn't give an easy start, but she stood her ground and blew them all away!
Amira is a vocal powerhouse way ahead of her own age. I was left astounded by the musical prodigy.😍💕💕
Her Swedish is flawless! She is so talented and I love listening to her even though I’m normally not that into opera.
Well, only three times it was impossible to understand what she was singing and her vowels were not open enough. The accent was quite heavy. I am sure that as she gets older she'll work more with that in all the languages she sings in. That takes years. I'm impressed that she remembered the words. :)
It's not flawless, come on
Flawless no, but very good. Even a Norwegian can hear she is not Swedish.
She is 14 here, but I think you need to check out her performance on Holland GT when she was 9 , amazing
"GABRIELLAS SÅNG" sung by Amira is powerful, perfect and wonderful with a pure and beautiful singing voice! 🎼🎤😃👍👍
15. at this concert. Love the performance. Like your appreciative assessment. She deserves the bouquets.
Everything correct, but 14 here it was 2018. The Sound of Music melody 2019 was 15
Just another quick comment Valerie.
Thank you. I am more impressed the more I watch her. You are so welcome.
Amira said at an early age during an interview that singing is as easy as walking to her.
It´s seems they are right about "climate change" but it´s not CO2 heating the earth it´s Amira´s warm cute smile that melts the polar caps...!!
So Young and so talent! And I heard that swedish is a hard language to learn, I don´t know, I am swedish😉. So god work on Helen Sjöholms song ❤️
Hi Valerie You should watrch Amira singing the lord's prayer.I love the way you speak about Amira. I realy love her.
I love your way of reviewing and your comments. Really nice,, sincere, genuine and proffesional. Thank you ❤
Amira's singing voice is perfect! !
Congrats to her parents and teacher. They are do so well with her training!
She's not training opera specifically. She moved to a more musical and versatile sound.
I have come to enjoy classical music since I have started watching Amira. She is so great.. I am interested to where talents will take her.
Thank you. Normally I don’t like the performance being interrupted but your take and comments are good. Good job!
there are clips of Amira without comments Wayne
Just a bit of background information: This performance was in the "Sun Arena" in Pretoria, South Africa; and Amira was 14, here. The Sun Arena seats upward of 9000 people, so it is about four times the size of the average opera house; therefore natural acoustics are out of the question. You will not see Amira without a close-held microphone, until her Christmas Concert performance in December 2020, at age 16.
Thank you! That explains a lot.

Amira Willighagen was born in Nimega, The Netherlands, on March 24, 2004. Amira's parents are very strict in terms of rationing her annual concerts and prioritizing her school education and school attendance. Also, Holland has strict laws regarding kids' and teens' school education.
On its own initiative, Amira has allocated half of her income from concerts to her own foundation in charge of funding playgrounds for kids in South Africa, where her mother comes from.

I heard her in Toronto, ON in 2007 at the Rogers Centre (we oldies know it as Sky Dome - home of the Toronto Blue Jays baseball club -- World Champions 1992 & 1993) and then again in 2010 at currently known as the Scotia Bank Centre -- home of the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey club.
In 2007 Andre played two performances and the first night as I recall filled Skydome at 50, 000 and the night we went it was 35,000.
It was the first of his major touring shows and was stunning.
Then along came Amira in HGT and since with Jackie Evanko thrown in for good measure -- great also in Toronto.
And now on the male side -- Dimash!!!
Wonderful times in which we live.
amira is already heading towards being the world greatest singer. amira voice has the best tone in the world. amira has a spirituality about her she angelic.
I agree. I'm totally captivated by this young singer.

In addition to her singing i also like the fact that she seems to be completely unimpressed by huge crowds.
2018. The Holy City. Just her gorgeous voice and her Father on the piano. Please react! Very pure and simple, clear and easy to hear her voice! I stay up too late many nights watching videos that I've seen many times over and over. Very relaxing.
When she made her debut in 2013 she was nine, so in 2021 she is seventeen.
She sings in such good swedish accent I would have belived she was swedish if I dident know she was from holland already (swedish person here).
Actually tomorrow is her birthday
Excuse me watch her when she was singing on a show with Andre Rieu when she was 9
She's singing in Swedish! The song is from a well renowned Swedish movie "As it Is In Heaven." She did a magnificent job as always.

Such a beautiful song from an even more beautiful movie.
You should react to the original by Helen Sjöholm. Or anything by Helen. She's probably the best singer in Sweden
I've heard many vocal coaches review her, and I'd say you were the most insightful. Thx! Have you done her performance of Amazing Grace?

Hoping to not be a nuisance Valerie, but a performance by Amira singing Flower Duet with another Soprano is something very special, & ask you to put it to the front of your Amira reactions which I hope to hear very soon.
This performance shows Amira as a true & wonderful Soprano. I have not heard a better rendition by anyone, including renown opera singers. Simply fantastic.
Thanks, Graeme.
I will look forward to that. I've actually sung the Flower Duet several times. It's always fun to sing!

I am sure she identified with the lead role in that movie, who said he had always wanted with all his heart to make people happy with his music.

A quote from someone who saw the movie:
- It tells its tale of love, community and redemption with soap-operatic mood swings and a true believer's faith in the transcendent powers of music.
Check out her version of Amazing Grace - it is Outstanding!!
Her swedish is kind of hard to understand but her singing is AMAZING!
Amazing because she sing in swedish!
By the way i took a flight from DFW to see her first concert in
Would love to know what her range is and what her high notes are.
Es una voz de ensueno. Canta desde el corazón
You are so right. The huge coliseums and many outdoor venues require microphones.
Could you please react to Amira's "O Holy Night" (St Jacobs Church 2015) ? It is an old video but it is worthwhile I think
THERE ONLY ONE REACTION TO THAT SONG AMIRA IS A TRUE SINGING ANGEL
Must be 14 years ord here, she was 9 when she won Holland´s got talent 2013.
What a beautiful she was little when I enjoy and find here.
What has her singing on a show of Andre Rieu when she was 9
I cannot understand why reactions are not made of Amira`s masterpiece rendition of Plaisir D`Amour with the Tygerburg choir Can you please consider this one as well.

PEOPLE CALL AMIRA ANGEL AMIRA HER VOICE IS OF AN ANGEL SHE SO SPECIAL
Oops, sent to you before I’d finished.
& also shows her beautiful voice range “without “ effort or any strain whatsoever. ( Your pet aversion to child wannabes )
Another matter.
Hi Valrerie you should watch Amira sing :I wishj upon a star.
Best singer i heard ever , better than callas
There are veterans groups who actually use her music for therapy. We can see why.
Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland.❤
Did you know she is just 13 years old here ?

Maybe it caused a response or then again maybe the restoration was going to occur anyway.
imo you should react to Your Love from her CD....actually better than her live performance

I recommend you her song (”El perdón” - The Forgiveness) ruclips.net/video/PaYwXNyIeOc/видео.html, the official video clip is a master piece. It is indescribable how much pain and emotion, she transmits in the video. Her voice and expression pierces your chest and reaches your heart. Thank you very much.
