It’s sad that us humans have gobbled up so much of that natural environment, converting it to farmland, villages and cities that the tiny zoo enclosure is the only place these creatures can survive.
On the other hand, given how humanity is encroaching on and/or destroying most of the wild lands animals inhabit, or poaching the unholy heck out of them, we're rapidly reaching a point where zoos will be the only places some of these animals will still be alive. I mean, the Northern White Rhino is down to two females in captivity. The species is effectively extinct, as there's no male to breed with them, and there's no genetic diversity. The South China tiger is extinct in the wild, and of the other four subspecies, most number less than 600 in the wild, save for the Bengal. And so on. Also, do take into account that what we see of many zoos is actually not all of the animal's enclosure. Most zoos' enclosures aren't actually _tiny,_ you're just only seeing the small slice of it where the animals are out for you to see. They're usually free to go from the space made for the public to easily view them to various backstage areas that are comfortable and are a "safe space" for them when being out and dealing with noisy humans gets too much. Plus, any good zoo will also be providing enrichment, giving the animals interesting things to do, chew on, smell, play with, etc. Just like a house pet that's left alone or not stimulated (or heck, like a _human_ not given anything mentally stimulating for long periods), any animal not given new and interesting things to do or encounter in its environment might get bored or fall into agitated or aggressive patterns. However, a proper and well-equipped zoo will do everything they can to ensure that such stress-related behavior is tended to and addressed.
What, they look very healthy, good full manes, plump rounded bellies, good muscle definition in the legs, they are obviously very well cared for animals.

If lions can't find food in a certain amount of time they start to hunger and ultimately die or even killed off by a pack of animals. There are so many factors at play for extinction.

@@michaelzaldivar8686Yea it's a terrible life for them but you have to keep in mind that there would be a possibility that lions and other animals would become extinct if let out in the wild. If lions can't find food in a certain amount of time they start to hunger and ultimately die or even killed off by a pack of animals. There are so many factors at play for extinction.
