- In this video I give a full in depth tour of a heavily modified 2004 Toyota Tacoma S-Runner V6 with a TRD supercharger putting out 550 hp. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this truck while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. The ONLY change I would make to this truck is tint the side light where its chrome to match the black grille. Other than that, this thing Is flawless. Hope it's still running 7 years later.

Beast of a truck. I remember when the original owner was doing the build on the forum I am on. Mean ass S-Runner. If I remember correctly I think he had a couple of Supras too.
There are 1300hp supras with the 3.0 straight 6, never underestimate toyota :)
Yamaha had alittle bit to do with 2jz. I wish 5vz came with Yamaha cyl heads like the 2jz did.

sweet truck!! I would love to see that thing run the quarter mile!! .... i can't stand when dealerships put their brand sticker on the paint of the car.... if i were a dealer, i would either make license plate frames or just put the advertisement sticker on the rear window of the vehicle..... a few big dealers where i'm from use the license plate frames with their name on it which is nice, i hate trying to take off those stickers and risk scuffing your paintjob.

I just backed out of my deal with Nissan on a 2011 Frontier Pro 4X when I saw this video. I am now looking at the Tacoma T/X Pro. Very nice.

Uh, because some people like to be able to haul stuff on the street. We trick our tacomas out because we want to son. If Subarus were that much more amazing than Toyota, then the Toyota Camry by itself wouldn't outsell Subarus entire line lineup like it does. You would have to be a dummy not to want speed+reliability+off road capabilities in a truck. Fortunately a Tacoma with few mods can give you that... in excess.

i love this thing. just picked up an 05 tacoma and has a trd supercharger in it. got a smoking deal because previous owner doesnt know much about cars and had it priced to sell!
Its a pickup son, they have to have leaf springs so they can carry some load
coming from a frontier owner, that is one BADASS tacoma. i do however wonder why the previous owner had a bunch of headwork done and used stock cams? seems odd. but deff a sweet truck!

Toyota TRD supercharger only produce 50 HP over stock engine 190 HP. how do you get 550 HP from that TRD supercharger.

V8 TRD charger is a bolt on 100hp. This guy has a pulley, meth and 2 stage nitrous. Did you listen? Motor has to be built to hold that much spray and boost.

It is in fact 500hp and 600tq. I met the guy that built the truck a few times back in 2009. It runs low 11's all day in the 1/4 and has run a few 10.9's and possibly a 10.8. Can't remember though.

5vz can handle 500hp that is insane... i have toyota prado with 5 vz with less than 80k miles i want to supercharge it i hope i can get 300 hp on the wheels
Brother if you want to obtain 300+HP with your 5 vz then you should really check out "LC Engineering". Trust me you won't be disappointed!!!

1500+ HP has been achieved from a 3.0L I6 made by Toyota.

A bit smokey on start up (and later on a couple revs). The engine was cold on start up because water temp didn't budge, so it can't be manufacturer oil residue (aka a new exhaust system). That is a bit concerning because it doesn't look dark enough to be an AF issue. Makes me wonder if it's due to it not running cats?
no it's an s-runner. x-runners came out with the 2005+ models. this is the v6 model of the 2wd trucks.
absolute thing of beauty. only thing i wish it had was a pioneer or kenwwod touchscreen indash instead of the stock radio unit. but thats just for interior beauty. performance-wise its perfect.

You're surprised by that? Look at 1980's F1 cars, they had over a 1000bhp from turbocharged, small V8s. On a lesser note, the Audi Quattro pikes peak had a 2.1L Inline 5 with 800bhp.

Thats a gorgeous yota, i have an 01 taco pre runner and i love it. shes all stock right now with a 2.4l but im planning on putting twin turbos and turning it into a sleeper. sort of haha im saving up for a fiberwerx front and rear body kit. but i want that grill!!!

"Nitrous and A Supercharger, it's not going to last long" Dumbass, it's fully built and built to handle it. "OOOO, the check engine light is on". When a vehicle is heavily modded, a CEL really does not mean anything. From this truck, it is from having no cats and the o2's are not turned off in the tune.

Obviously he never got it dyno'd or he would have posted the results to shut everyone up. It is hard to achieve over 500hp from a 5VZ-FE with the TRD supercharger. Hell, built motor with nos alone should be able to break the 500hp barrier. Granted it would be a 250+ shot to get cha there, but he's got forged internals so......
Toby James may be 350hp whiteout NOS and 550hp with NOS
My understanding is that the head gaskets go at around 450-500. Plus with the smallest available pulley he would be getting 300 wheel max without nos.

That's not even close to maxxed out from a 3.4L V6. If it were turbo, it could make way more.There are 4 cylinder 2RZ engines from Tacomas making 1200 hp, look up Paradise Racing. The current owner of this truck is on the Customtacos forum and is in the process of swapping a 2JZ from a Supra into it. The 3.4 has been sold.

There are racing cars with v6's that make way more than that. Of course its possible.
The reason this truck is not selling is because the check engine light is on, the truck will not pass a NC State Inspection, therefore the buyer must be in a different state.

@jdawgy87 ok 1st off is the 550hp crank hp or whp? unless its wheel i highly doubt 550 is a good estimate. Considering all the mods done to it i dont think so. Yea thats a lot of power especially for a small truck but look at that mod list...to me its not that great. I bet bigger injectors would open it up a lot more too considering its running 13psi (which is a ton)
