Great video Sarah...and I agree with you about the manual transmission, the only way to go! I live in the interior of British Columbia and was coming home from fishing one evening and as I went through this mud hole a sliver of wood somehow went between the frame and the brake line and snapped it off. I shaved off a small branch and stuck it into the brake line, knowing it would pop off the minute I touched the brakes. Having a manual taco I was able to drive it about thirty miles to home touching the brakes for the first time as I pulled into my carport. Don’t think an automatic would have got me out of that situation! Gotta keep manuals alive!
A manual transmission is the golden gauntlet of pleasure driving for sure! The Tacoma is basically the size of a full sized truck just a few years ago so unless one really needs to tow very heavy items there is still really no equal to the Tacoma. Your manual review was much appreciated
Tacoma is so much better than all of these Hybrid Crossover large vehicles with wimpy on road specs. Course no one needs to know that, I wish they we're cheaper but I am going / willing to pay the extra for what I want. The polar opposite of a minivan.
Congrats! Recently tried to buy the 4Runner TRD Pro off the lot and was shocked at how much over MSRP they were asking 😵. I gave them the beans and decided to wait. 😒
@@jessielivermore1826 Thank you! Yeah I had to get my truck out of state due to the fact that no one had it in manual and in Lunar Rock. If they did the were marking up at least 8k. I got mine for msrp in Tempe Az. I live in Cali
I work as a tech at a Toyota dealer. When the lunar rock color first came out I didn’t like it. However it’s really grown on me. I think the lunar rock, cement, and the super bright blue would be the colors I’d prefer
Another amazing color from Toyota! This is one of the only trucks I actually desire. Just so much old school truck goodness with a manual transmission.
Finally a review I agree with you pretty much on everything. However, there’s nothing wrong with the parking brake handle, that is the proper place for the parking brake to be. Going up the hill just with A- trac ON and low range second gear would have been enough. A- trac ( active traction control) is not a gimmick it actually works. I am having so much fun driving my manual Taco on and off road but especially off road.
You are so right. Looked for a 6 speed on your recommendation. after watching your 2020 taco reveiw. I purchased a 2021 TRD sport access cab with 6 speed manual back in December. after reading the forums after buying it so Happy I got manual transmission. Thank you for your reveiws.
As to you going up the hill in first gear low range, I remembered years ago I was told when driving a vehicle with a two speed transfer case to never "go" anywhere in first gear, low range, always second, saving first gear for getting out if you get stuck.
I think the manual transmission is the best bet I want to purchase a new or used Tacoma truck. But an automatic transmission is out of the question. This video really helped me to decide on not getting one with an automatic transmission. Thank you Sarah
I couldn't agree more on the manual transmission. It transforms a truck 100%. Ive owned a 99' automatic 4Runner Highlander but sold it quick, then much later found a rare 99' 5-speed SR5 4Runner. The difference is night-and-day, and it feels like you're driving a real truck. It's about total control! hahaha
Sarah’s killing it......love all the videos you’ve been putting out. I know it’s hard work, you’ve definitely been embracing the grind. Just know it’s very appreciated and also, congrats on the huge jump in subs.....you’ve earned it.
How'd they get passed that thick container that's keeping all this atmospheric pressure around us? Gas nor gravity keeps oxygen and nitrogen enclosed. Goes against the laws of pressure and common sense. They're lying to us.
I got your little joke and you were right.....wasn't funny! LOL! But don't give up; I still love you...and I really love that truck! Manual shift makes EVERYTHING better! Thanks for the review!
Your Taco Jokes are soooooooooooooo Much better than when I have to make them up .. I wish I could afford this Glorious beast, I don't even want to consider an Automatic, ever..
Enjoyed this review. I've been dreaming of the idea of buying a 4Runner for $42,000, but the Taco for $2,000 more along with the 6speed MT, better choice me thinks. Just realized in the other comments it's your birthday, Happy Birthday dear lady!
This was so much fun for you and the viewers. That holy choir and glow when you showed the manual gear shift lever reminded me of the Japanese Iron Chef when they showed the secret theme ingredient for that day's chef competition.
That taco seems to of brought out the "potty" mouth in you this episode. A girl that knows how to drive a stick and swears like a pirate, now that's a keeper, lol
I'm a '21 Taco Sport with the manual. I love it like I loved all of my Toyotas. BUT I hate the throttle lag and the rev hang. It makes downshifting with double clutching and heel and toe difficult to rev match. Love the channel.
When cool, drum brakes actually work better than discs because they are designed to self energize. Drums only real weakness is heat dissipation and since the rears only do about 20-30% of the braking they are well equipped for the job. Plus being cheaper.
Speaking to Toyota mileage my 1985 SR5 had 297k miles on it when it was stolen and stripped. Had OG 22r-e. Maintained compression and only burned about a 1/2 quart in 5k mi and spent a few trips through the Rubicon. I loved that truck.
The reason for both disc AND drum brakes is because they each perform better in different conditions I.e. heavy water, mud and dry conditions. So you get the best of both worlds and you are therefore guaranteed to have at least some stopping power 👍👍👍
thats some dumb shit right there. Its about money and toyota as usual not wanting to change anything year after year after year. Now the 2024 has rear disc
I had a 2004 Tacoma, last year of first gen. Bought it new and drove it until 2019, only had to do the front brakes once, replaced a thermostat, tires 3 sets, oil changes and gas. When it was time for a new vehicle I looked at the current Gen Tacoma and it did not have the reliability of its predecessors, do what I did buy a Jeep Wrangler!
Manual for life. Even my 13 year old is in love with manuals now. My kenworth is a manual, my jeep and holden are both manuals, bikes are all manual including one suicide shift. Autos make me wanna go to sleepzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Love the 6 speed.......nice truck......to all the ones that love an automatic transmission....just would like to say to them Happy Mothers Day!......LOL

In 1992, I got an ''84 Nissan pickup with a manual. I didn't know how to drive one, but I quickly learned because the truck was free. I owned nothing but manuals for the next 29 years. Would've gotten a Manual, but they don't offer a Manual on the SR5 models :-(....The TRD model upgrades are too much $ (Like the extra $400 they wanted to black out the badges!) to justify unless you do heavy off-roading....Most can be done aftermarket (even with Toyota parts)...If I had PRO $, I would totally get this! Dream truck right here! Great review Sarah!
"Time to give this Taco the beans." Now that saying finally makes sense.
beans dont belong on tacos tho
Wouldn't that make it a burrito?
i had to think about that for a minute... and realized that i've never had a bean taco!

Great review! Hopefully the industry takes note and retains manual transmissions in their lineups.
Sarah, please promise us that when Velocity offers you to that big high dollar contract that you change NOTHING. Your channel is awesome!
You had me at “A Manual Transmission...” the Taco review was a bonus and was superb! Keep doing what you do Sarah. 👍😎💪

Same here. Waited 6 months for my 2021 manual TRD off road. Love it! Manual Trans all day! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
The acceleration rip at 12:00 is exactly why manual transmissions are so fun and addictive! Great review!

You've an excellent sense of humor. I'm in the market to buy a new Tacoma, and this was the funniest review out of the dozens I've watched.
Dig it and as a Manual Gear Box Jeep owner, agree with your review of the 6spd. Nice plug!
The way you worked that taco without crunching the shell, unlike the previous journalist, was a very enjoyable review to behold.
I had a manual FJ back in the day and currently have a manual 05 Taco. Agree 100% that they are so much more fun with a third pedal.
Sarah, please start adding towing capabilities to your truck reviews. Great vid as usual.
