- A RARE thing to find today, a truck with a 6 speed manual transmission, and this is hands down the best way possible to purchase a new Tacoma.

"Time to give this Taco the beans." Now that saying finally makes sense.
beans dont belong on tacos tho
Wouldn't that make it a burrito?
i had to think about that for a minute... and realized that i've never had a bean taco!
GIVE ER THE BEANSSSSSSSSSSSS
Lool
I waited over 6 months for my 2021 TRD Pro with manual transmission in Lunar Rock. I love it!
Congrats! Recently tried to buy the 4Runner TRD Pro off the lot and was shocked at how much over MSRP they were asking 😵. I gave them the beans and decided to wait. 😒
@@jessielivermore1826 Thank you! Yeah I had to get my truck out of state due to the fact that no one had it in manual and in Lunar Rock. If they did the were marking up at least 8k. I got mine for msrp in Tempe Az. I live in Cali
I work as a tech at a Toyota dealer. When the lunar rock color first came out I didn’t like it. However it’s really grown on me. I think the lunar rock, cement, and the super bright blue would be the colors I’d prefer
I'm at 4 months so far for mine, same truck here in Canada. Wouldn't order any other combo
Got I’m still waiting going on 4 months driving my gf and moms cars to work. Being ridiculed every day, the wait WILL BE WORTH IT THOUGH 😂
Great video Sarah...and I agree with you about the manual transmission, the only way to go! I live in the interior of British Columbia and was coming home from fishing one evening and as I went through this mud hole a sliver of wood somehow went between the frame and the brake line and snapped it off. I shaved off a small branch and stuck it into the brake line, knowing it would pop off the minute I touched the brakes. Having a manual taco I was able to drive it about thirty miles to home touching the brakes for the first time as I pulled into my carport. Don’t think an automatic would have got me out of that situation! Gotta keep manuals alive!
Great review! Hopefully the industry takes note and retains manual transmissions in their lineups.
You had me at “A Manual Transmission...” the Taco review was a bonus and was superb! Keep doing what you do Sarah. 👍😎💪
A manual transmission is the golden gauntlet of pleasure driving for sure! The Tacoma is basically the size of a full sized truck just a few years ago so unless one really needs to tow very heavy items there is still really no equal to the Tacoma. Your manual review was much appreciated
Tacoma is so much better than all of these Hybrid Crossover large vehicles with wimpy on road specs. Course no one needs to know that, I wish they we're cheaper but I am going / willing to pay the extra for what I want. The polar opposite of a minivan.
The quality of your videos never go unnoticed, beautiful truck I would love to own one!
Same here. Waited 6 months for my 2021 manual TRD off road. Love it! Manual Trans all day! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
The acceleration rip at 12:00 is exactly why manual transmissions are so fun and addictive! Great review!
That's exactly how you shouldn't drive a manual, I don't know anything about cars but I do know how to drive and that was terribly painful to watch
@@yaz_z89 false
@@yaz_z89 boooo!
i always wanted one of these in manual. more trucks need to come with stick.
Another amazing color from Toyota! This is one of the only trucks I actually desire. Just so much old school truck goodness with a manual transmission.
Yeah they finally woke up and started copying what Jeep has been doing with colors, for decades
Finally a review I agree with you pretty much on everything. However, there’s nothing wrong with the parking brake handle, that is the proper place for the parking brake to be.
Going up the hill just with A- trac ON and low range second gear would have been enough.
A- trac ( active traction control) is not a gimmick it actually works.
I am having so much fun driving my manual Taco on and off road but especially off road.
You are so right. Looked for a 6 speed on your recommendation. after watching your 2020 taco reveiw.
I purchased a 2021 TRD sport access cab with 6 speed manual back in December. after reading the forums after buying it so Happy I got manual transmission. Thank you for your reveiws.
Sarah, please promise us that when Velocity offers you to that big high dollar contract that you change NOTHING. Your channel is awesome!
"Give this taco the beans." Kinda surprised you didn't have more fun with that line.
I think the manual transmission is the best bet I want to purchase a new or used Tacoma truck. But an automatic transmission is out of the question. This video really helped me to decide on not getting one with an automatic transmission. Thank you Sarah
As to you going up the hill in first gear low range, I remembered years ago I was told when driving a vehicle with a two speed transfer case to never "go" anywhere in first gear, low range, always second, saving first gear for getting out if you get stuck.
Sarah, please start adding towing capabilities to your truck reviews. Great vid as usual.
I had a manual FJ back in the day and currently have a manual 05 Taco. Agree 100% that they are so much more fun with a third pedal.
Also i enjoy watching you match your outfit to the vehicle you are reviewing
I drive an 05 6spd Taco with a classic twisty e-brake! It brings me joy! Thanks for the video!
Dig it and as a Manual Gear Box Jeep owner, agree with your review of the 6spd. Nice plug!
Thank you Sarah for this awesome review! I got my Offroad Taco a month ago and I wouldn't have it any other way, loving manual transmission ❤
My brother has a HiLux (Aussie version) that has 650kms on the clock and has only had normal maintenance 👌
650km?...
Ya but his wasn't made in Mexico lol ...scary
I couldn't agree more on the manual transmission. It transforms a truck 100%.
Ive owned a 99' automatic 4Runner Highlander but sold it quick, then much later found a rare 99' 5-speed SR5 4Runner. The difference is night-and-day, and it feels like you're driving a real truck. It's about total control! hahaha
Another great truck review Sarah. Gracias, great to see you having so much fun uploading to your OUTSTANDING channel.
Happy Birthday Sarah ! It’s your day enjoy it ! Love your channel !
The way you worked that taco without crunching the shell, unlike the previous journalist, was a very enjoyable review to behold.
You need to find a more challenging hill to climb. The Taco handled it effortlessly.
I got a 2019 Access cab Taco with the 6 speed manual and it was the best decision I made in my life. 🔥🔥😎👌
Putting a juice box in a cup holder for capped drinks, you’re a rebel!
You've an excellent sense of humor. I'm in the market to buy a new Tacoma, and this was the funniest review out of the dozens I've watched.
I'm a '21 Taco Sport with the manual. I love it like I loved all of my Toyotas. BUT I hate the throttle lag and the rev hang. It makes downshifting with double clutching and heel and toe difficult to rev match. Love the channel.
Kdmax or ovtune. And accumulator delete help. No miracle cures but will get you closer.
Never really been a fan of trucks, but after seeing this review, it's made me very intrigued haha. Insanely solid piece of engineering.
Neither was I and now I own a 2017 4x4 trd off-road.
Really happy with my decision
It’s like I tuned into an wildlife show, featuring a wild Sarah in her natural habitat...trail riding in a manual six-speed taco
That taco seems to of brought out the "potty" mouth in you this episode.
A girl that knows how to drive a stick and swears like a pirate, now that's a keeper, lol
Sarah, looks like you were having way to much fun! Can't wait to get mine that's on order
Was considering a manual taco. Your vid confirms my decision. I am now subscribed to your channel. Very well done!
Love the 6 speed manual in my TRD Off Road taco and mated up to the 4 liter it rocks.
When cool, drum brakes actually work better than discs because they are designed to self energize. Drums only real weakness is heat dissipation and since the rears only do about 20-30% of the braking they are well equipped for the job. Plus being cheaper.
"Welcome to the inside of a Taco. Just without the meat, cheese or vegetables"
I dunno, you're pretty cheesey
LOL!
Too funny. But that could be a cheesy pickup line. 😁
The reason for both disc AND drum brakes is because they each perform better in different conditions I.e. heavy water, mud and dry conditions. So you get the best of both worlds and you are therefore guaranteed to have at least some stopping power 👍👍👍
bullshit jajajaj
thats some dumb shit right there. Its about money and toyota as usual not wanting to change anything year after year after year. Now the 2024 has rear disc
Sarah’s killing it......love all the videos you’ve been putting out. I know it’s hard work, you’ve definitely been embracing the grind. Just know it’s very appreciated and also, congrats on the huge jump in subs.....you’ve earned it.
Wazowski, you forgot to turn in your paper work last night.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH!!!!!! Hope you're having a FUN time with Mick Beth! Can't wait to see a video on it!
I own a 17 Tacoma auto and can’t wait to trade it on a manual, but they are impossible to find
Sarah, I'm not big fan Toyota but they killing it with the auto sales compared to Honda
Enjoyed this review.
I've been dreaming of the idea of buying a 4Runner for $42,000, but the Taco for $2,000 more
along with the 6speed MT, better choice me thinks.
Just realized in the other comments it's your birthday, Happy Birthday dear lady!
Either one would be an awesome truck
I got your little joke and you were right.....wasn't funny! LOL! But don't give up; I still love you...and I really love that truck! Manual shift makes EVERYTHING better! Thanks for the review!
I saw 2021 truck with a manual transmission and I clicked like!
I just bought a 2021 TRD PRO Manual Transmission Tacoma and loving it. The tires size is 265/70/16 I just put 265/75/16 BFG KO2's on. And no Auto Stop /Start!
Your Taco Jokes are soooooooooooooo Much better than when I have to make them up .. I wish I could afford this Glorious beast, I don't even want to consider an Automatic, ever..
Speaking to Toyota mileage my 1985 SR5 had 297k miles on it when it was stolen and stripped. Had OG 22r-e. Maintained compression and only burned about a 1/2 quart in 5k mi and spent a few trips through the Rubicon. I loved that truck.
I'm sorry for you loss
I love your reviews. Also I had an fj with a stick for years and years. I’m over stick shifts. Loved the truck but sick of shifting in Dallas traffic.
Stick shift is the best. Get them before the government says only electric barbie jeeps battery powered.
@@cayman9873 EXACTLY!
Manual Tacos are now backordered because of this video !
gotta love the reference to Top Gear, nice Sarah!
This truck will not only survive being blown up on top of a building and swept out to sea, but it will also make it to the North Pole.
I refuse to get rid of my 2008 Taco because it has a stickshift (Texas people know it as a standard). So happy to hear a stickshift is still offered in 2021.
You had me at "The Perfect Taco." Sarah, I love your channel.
Hey, I actually think the REASON why that taco has drums is BECAUSE of the rip it e brake, I'll have to look more into it though.
Sarah, you been working out? You're looking very athletic today - great look! If given the choice of being given a truck, would you go with this Taco TRD Pro or the Jeep Gladiator?
04 Tacoma and it still works like when I bought it. I intend to keep it forever
"You probably also think that bananas are too spicy." LMAO SOOOOOO Funny!
And sooooo true.
I ordered a TRD Sport, and even though I had to get an automatic (wife can't and won't drive a stick) I still love it.
Finding a clutch and stick is getting very hard. Manual 4 door full size sedan aren’t made anymore. ☹️
Just picked up my first Taco - 2013 TRD Off Road. Solid AF. A bit lackluster on the interior though. Tucson-bound in a month for its first real roadtrip (in my ownership)
Great review Sarah, but ass someone who owned a 2013 TRD sport with 4WD, I just feel like the Tacoma has become way, way too expensive for what it is.
I agree Paul. But, people are still buying them. They are everywhere. A friend of ours just bought one in the baby diaper brown color. I was shocked and dumbfounded at the price.
As the owner of a 3rd gen Taco w/ 6spd ... I love the commentary. "Do the right thing people..." Yes!
"Buy a manual transmission if they offer it"...
I guess I'm more strict than that. If it's auto only, I won't even consider it (until electric vehicles become the norm)
I remember seeing some of your content on another channel some time ago. Glad the RUclips algorithm gods so saw fit to recommend your channel to me! Looks like you've been killing it so...time to binge watch! ^_^
I am loving the twist key ignition in this model. Wishing my Subaru Outback Limited came with the twist key rather than the push to start :(
It is because this Tacoma is a manual transmission.
The best ONLINE Review I’ve ever seen in my whole life❗️🦾💀
That shift to second for the beans test was heroic.
I had a 2004 Tacoma, last year of first gen. Bought it new and drove it until 2019, only had to do the front brakes once, replaced a thermostat, tires 3 sets, oil changes and gas. When it was time for a new vehicle I looked at the current Gen Tacoma and it did not have the reliability of its predecessors, do what I did buy a Jeep Wrangler!
Scotty Kilmer just became your biggest fan!
I love the fact that they offer this truck in a manual. It sounded like there were some pretty big gear ratio differences between 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd. Do you happen to recall what the RPM drop was?
I drive 2018 Honda Accord Sport 2.0T with the 6MT. Honda was one of the last to offer a mid-sized family sedan with a manual, and I was SO disappointed when they discontinued the 6MT in 2021. Now, if you want a manual Honda, your only choice is a Civic, since they also discontinued the Fit altogether (my wife drives a 2015 Fit LX 6MT).
I got the n-Tuned joke, do I get extra points now?
Looks like a very nice car! And you certainly seemed to enjoy drifting it around the tree. Quite impressed by your hillclimbing A.I. also.
Over here we have the Hilux, seems like, as with the Tundra, the Tacoma's going to be grey import.
It’s a truck and not a car
Great as always, so glad someone out there has a f***uupp sense of humour like me, Go Sarah.
Ok, nice review, but which one is your favorite to own, this or the Ford Bronco?
Manual transmission is the Bomb. Thank goodness they still make them.
I just can imagine you piloting one of those NASA vehicles on the surface of Mars.
It's funny that everyone is talking about manual transmission as the best thing in the world. Here in Denmark, it is only in recent years that ordinary people could afford a car with automatic transmission, it has been a wild luxury. I have been driving with a stick all my life, now I have the first car with automatic transmission, I will never change back again.
All cars should have Manual shifts available, Kudos to Toyota!
The Top Gear references, awesome. The Hi-Luxs they took the Pole ( ? ) were perfect.
How cool is it that the Ingenuity drone-helicopter on Mars took its very first flight today… on your birthday! Happy Birthday, Sarah! 🎂
How'd they get passed that thick container that's keeping all this atmospheric pressure around us? Gas nor gravity keeps oxygen and nitrogen enclosed. Goes against the laws of pressure and common sense. They're lying to us.
@@mikieemiike3979 🙄
@@Primus54 Haha
Manual. The best transmission. Won't sell my Rav4 cause it has a 5spd manual )23yrs later.
Love the 6 speed.......nice truck......to all the ones that love an automatic transmission....just would like to say to them Happy Mothers Day!......LOL
I just ordered a 2021 taco with manual and access cab🙂 thanks for the video
Sarah you realey look like you were enjoying driving that toyota manuel truck. l think toyota the the best
I bought a new 2021 Tacoma TRD recently. I tried to find a 6 speed but there is a shortage of those in my area and I was forced to buy the automatic. I drive it in tow mode most of the time and love this truck, even though I normally drive big diesels. The first trip I took with was to the mountains of Wyoming! I camped along a river near Jackson Hole and did much off road driving, both in the Taco and my ATV! Love all your reviews, except for the "bronco." don't buy a Ford :)
“Having more usable torque down low is the most important.”
the addition of the lift adds so much more to the science portion of the segment.
Sarah the truck/dust storm on wheels test drive🤣👍👏
As much as I like that truck, I ended up buying a Frontier Pro 4X.
I wanted something with a six speed again and those were the only options.
The TRD was over ten thousand Canadian more, so I opted to cut a couple of years off the financing.
A girl and her Tacoma i instantly clicked!!
Never gonna give up my 08 TRD Off Road with the 6spd. Great truck.
I do prefer the old P-brake lever as well. That new one takes up cup holder/shit storage space.
My 92 was a softshell 🌮 mini truck.
That was a great review. Very well balanced and fair. I am deep into the Taco sauce, and your bean score was spot on. Resonating with what many 3rd Gen owners themselves say.
Fortunately, Orange Virus Tuning (OV Tune) has a solution for the lethargic lower end acceleration, as well as overall engine tune. They also addressed the automatic transmission shifting.
For those wanting the real power, and 1500rpm boost threshold, they've developed a twin turbo kit. Very nice. That would probably make the bean score go to a solid 3 or 3.5.
Keep it up Penguine charmer. 😁👍👍
As soon as you said Kevlar reinforced I knew where we were going with this
I completely agree with your assement. As a person that only enjoys driving if the vehicle has a manual, you have convince to go and test drive one. I've driven a manual gladiator, it was good but too large. If this also feels large I'll probably continue my search for a perfect Jeep Comanche.
Standards rule and autos drool. Yeah that doesn't sound right. Oh well. I like it. Need to get a bumper sticker with that on it.
Just regeared my 2020 trd Offroad Manual to 5.29s on 33s. Makes it a beast!!
