    It's difficult to enjoy a song when you're used to hearing it sung a certain way. But if you can but preference and bias aside, you will realize that Innocent was exceptional at this rendition, and would have reached millions because of his unique choices, who are hearing this for the first time.

      I don't think many people are hearing this song for the first time. But you could be right. It's been maybe 5 or 6 years since it was showcased on TV. I noticed the audience didn't go wild on the phrase "ma il mid misterio è chiuso in me" which could be a sign they didn't know it was the exciting part coming up.

    But I loved it for its ease of flow and the purity of his tenor voice.
    That half tone change maybe put it more centred in the wheelhouse of his voice.
    I would rather see it done with ease than strained to reach a note.
    Range and to hit each note with ease and perfect pitch and control, as you know, is always a work in progress.
    This is a young singer who has a lot more to give.
    I hope he continues on after the competition.
    Thanks for sharing your spot on insights with us.
    I always learn from your comments.

    Thank you for explaining the point about it being sung in a different key from the original. That's the sort of detail we come to you for, William!
    Personally, I find Bruno quite irritating. During Innocent's audition, Bruno couldn't keep himself from standing up and making a scene, a display of how impressed he was - and by doing so, distract EVERY single person enjoying the performance from being able to focus.
    Watch it and you will see how Alessia was - almost impatiently, if not with outright irritation - trying to ignore him.
    He just can't control himself and thinks it's all about him and the way he feels - irrespective of how others sharing the moment may feel when impacted by his histrionics.
    Not, to put too fine a point on it. As Dickens said 200 years ago in his novel!
    Good luck, break a leg, with your upcoming performances! It sounds like it will he wonderful!

      You are most likely right. It's al very attention-seeking behaviour from Bruno. I don't watch the full series as I live in Thailand but I imagine it could get quite annoying. It's just the emotional reactions are quire cute and funny - at first!

      My feeling about the way people act is that I am more attracted to focused types, who attract my attention to them by virtue of a quiet confidance - born of being comfortable in their own skin - that they exude. Men who have true joie de vivre; born of their genuine love of life and people possessed of a sense of happiness that is infections; lighthearted chaps and ladies.

  • @nanettetredoux7613

    Perhaps he sang it in that key because it was a purchased backing track? It could easily have been raised a semitone with Audacity or similar software though. I also found his vocal support on this performance not as solid as with the audition and the semifinals - perhaps it was nerves because this was the finals and the pressure was getting to him. I truly admire Innocent and wish him a great career. He had great training at the University of Cape Town and clearly, he has worked extremely hard.

    • @BangkokVoiceCoach
      @BangkokVoiceCoach  2 месяца назад +4

      Maybe because of the pressure of the Final, for safety they decided on a semitone down. It's not so much the high B at the end but the repeated As that can be a killer. On a related point (backing track!) I do feel they should have had choir on stage. Expensive TV show like this! They just need 16 singers, lip-synching but it would have been much more impressive than just hearing distant voices. It would have helped him too.

    • @user-zr2ur9zp4w
      @user-zr2ur9zp4w 2 месяца назад +2

    It could be the changes to the piece weren’t Innocent’s choice. There’s behind the scenes show biz engineering, and not everyone is set up to succeed. I thought his second performance, Now We Are Free was actually better. That would be wonderful to see reviewed and analyzed 😉🙏🏻.

    • @BangkokVoiceCoach

    I am Italian and a melomaniac... I always think and say that Italian opera has its uniqueness in the language, it must be considered as an instrument that if well tuned produces harmony and beauty but if the strings of a violin are not tuned the result it's very bad. Now anyone who intends to sing Italian opera, apart from the technique, must necessarily have perfect command of the Italian language, otherwise there will be a distortion of harmony and phrasing which is essential for opera. So please refrain from singing Italian opera if you don't have the "perfectly tuned instrument". That said, Innocent Masuku is commendable if he sings a repertoire of pop music but refrains from singing Puccini's Nessun Dorma.
