    Awesome review of these flashlights. I just ordered the XT11GT since I lost somehow my flashlight on the way home from work just the other day. Due to your review being so thorough really helped with my choice. I really like how the flashlight can hold side switch on and it auto to low setting and then back has the strobe. As a security officer I check ID all the time and don't want to be blinding people doing that so very nice feature. I also play airsoft so bought off your site the Multi-functional Dual Remote Switch and I have a mount already so will put it on my rifle.. Looking forward to having this combo and features. Funny how my one quip about it was the silver bezel and I was talking to my friend wishing the whole flashlight was black and we where watching your vid and like 20 seconds later you are like and bezel comes off lol. Awesome!

    I fucking love your reviews. They are so thorough. It would be cool to watch like a compilation of the beamshots from every video you've done. Anyways got my XT11GT from you this past Friday. I used a coupon code and got a smokin deal for a light of this caliber. After using it all weekend, I agree with others that it doesn't feel like it's a full 2000 lumens when comparing it to some of my other lights ranging from 500 lumens to 1000, but nevertheless, it's an awesome light with awesome throw. I just wish there was a true lockout function. I've accidentally turned the low mode on in my pocket a few times now.

    Awesome review, Marshall, thanks for recording it. Could you please help, I'm totally new to these tactical torches. Would the bigger battery mean a significant increase in runtime for the xt11S? What if I used it with the 3200amh one? (and are the official runtime numbers measured with the smaller battery which is included..) Thanks!!

    I like these longer in depth videos more. I wish Klarus offered swapable heads. I prefer the heatsink styling on the xt11s over the gt but I'm probably buying the GT. If you could swap the xt15 head that would be great. I think it's the best looking and would be a longer throw due to size difference. I wish manufacturers would make their products more modular. I.E. swapping heads, lens, reflector etc. The most you ever really see is battery size extenders and contractors but even still you don't see it enough. Maybe there's people out there who need their light to custom fit their need and really like a certain model but all the features do not fit the bill. This way you can tailor your light to exactly what you need. Considering the economics, it makes more sense for the consumer side as opposed to the manufacturer. I guess they would rather have people buying a whole new light instead of parts and pieces. I would even be ok if those swapable parts were rather expensive if it meant I could get exactly what I wanted. Until then I guess it'll just have to be a pipe dream of mine. Another great video, Marshall! You have no idea how addicted I am to your channel! Keep em' comin'. :)

    hi Marshall, like your reviews more thought out than the rest I've seen! anyways I've been looking for a good torch of late I decided on the klarus g20 after seeing other reviews then I saw your enthusiastic review on the klarus xt11gt, both great torches which torch would you say is the better of the two as an edc. I live in Wales it's quite mountainous here very hilly I go camping and I cut through woodlands a lot . help me out and I'll put an order with you! much appreciation, jonathan taylor

    One more thought about the USB charger though. One of my primary reasons for loving the magnetic charger was that the light was basically impenetrable. I didn't ever have to worry about dropping it in the water. Now I feel like I would have to worry about that rubber boot being effective, and fit in properly all the time. Has that new charging method decreased the waterproof/dustproof rating of the flashlight?

    Tl;Dr - Flashlight is so powerful it caught me on fire, go but this light now.
    Well, Marshall recommended this to me on a different video, figured I'd post how well it's doing after a month of use.
    I use this primarily for a tactical light, work security at night at a mall, use this to deter people and did I mention, this light is bright as hell? Well last night, I'm sitting around with the team just joking and relaxing, when the light turned on in my flashlight pouch on my duty belt. I was unaware of this until I started smelling a burning smell and, behold my duty belt is on fire!
    The only thing I can say is, YES, go buy this flashlight NOW. It's the most powerful one I can find in a duty light.

    Hi, I really like your videos.
    I wonder if you can give me a free advice. I need a flashlight for a bike helmet that will last about 1,000lm without stepping down. Better throws not too tight.
    I also have a flashlight on the handlebar and I love it tight. Currently it's Haikelite MT07S which can work hours at 2,300lm. I want to replace it with a flashlight that is external to 4,000 lm and above.
    Hope I do not bother you. I have no idea. I live in Holly Land and here the subject is not as developed as yours.
    Thanks, Nitsan.

    I´ve just realized that after 2-hrs in outdoor temperature approx. 5°C (41 °F) and pressing Primary switch on remote control my torch goes to One-Tough "Strobe" mode instead of One-Tough Turbo. According to the Standard definition you can call a light "tactical" as soon as it can put out 80! lumens or more. So most of my keychain flashlights (as shown in my most recent video) are quite tactical. Even though only one has a directly accessible strobe. I doubt the usefulness of a secret strobe where you have to go through all the settings twice. I think by then your opponent might have caught on!

  • @KenshinPhoenix
    @KenshinPhoenix 6 лет назад +1

    I have gone through 2 tail caps on the XT11GT and both of the inner nuts keep coming loose no matter how tight I do it up with needle nose pliers, which means the light will go haywire from time to time when you turn it on. As a tactical light, this problem is unacceptable. I love this torch otherwise, but Klarus no longer makes dependable products and I have to look for something similar by a better manufacturer. Sadly, there are not many tactical lights with instant strobe access. Ugh.

  • @1FAST91SONOMA

    my rs18 melted the charge port and caught fire months ago (I didn't even own it a year) and Klarus would never respond to me. I don't know where I put the light now, I gave up on ever getting it fixed or replaced. I really prefer the magnetic charge ports but not if it's going to try to burn my house down. Their customer service is awful and I don't think I'll give them another chance but I do like the XT11GT as a potential replacement.

    • @1FAST91SONOMA
      @1FAST91SONOMA 7 лет назад

      I sent them a message through the site you just posted. no response. I tried again. no response. if I was a distributor instead of just a customer maybe they'd reply but I can't get any response from them. Olight will probably be getting my light business in the future.

  • @nimdabew

    Is the paddle switch sensitive to accidental bumps? I had a Nitecore P20 and the paddle switch was getting activated on accident while holding it and bumping around in a bag and it lead to dead cells and general frustration while using the light since the strobe feature would turn on when I didn't want it to.

    • @nimdabew
      @nimdabew 7 лет назад

      Interesting. I had my P20 as a weapon light too and I was getting accidental discharges of light while shooting and handling the firearm. Do you believe that would be the case for this as well?

    Does this model have a hair trigger side button like the G20? I don't much use my G20 since its a pain to lock it out all the time. The side button on my RT20 works great so I would like to give Klarus another try.

    • @frankl1955
      @frankl1955 7 лет назад

      I hope not.It put out so much heat and the side switch on the G20 is so touchy, I can’t believe they have not incurred a law suit over it. Klarus makes some interesting lights but the included holsters sucks, mine fell apart in a week. I will reinforce the stitching first thing on the XT holster if I get it.

    How would you say the GT compares to the TM03? It's hard to get a good comparison from two separate videos.
    One question in particular that I would like to see answered would be... while the TM03 clearly has more flood/spill than the GT, does it also have more throw? Or does the more concentrated beam of the GT give it a bit more distance?
    Overall, which of the two do you like more and why? If you could do a full comparison, that would be awesome, but if not no worries.

  • @functionfirst7355
    @functionfirst7355 7 лет назад +5

    HP35 HI is 1483 lumens, the "LO" version is 1833.
    These are rated specs, so Klarus is definitely exaggerating their numbers here. Disappointing.

    • @jonathanshaw6784
      @jonathanshaw6784 7 лет назад

      The rated specs are for a given current or temperature, they can definitely do 2000 lumens. With enough heat sinking you should be able to get over 4000 but that would not be practical in a light this size.

    • @zapilimne
      @zapilimne 7 лет назад +2

      To get 2000 ANSI lumens you need to have ~2500 LED lumens. To get 2500lm from XHP35 HI you need to overdrive it up to 200% of it max rated current or maybe even higher.

    You mentioned there was a temperature control system to avoid over heating ruclips.net/video/VXZUcauSOzI/видео.html. Have you done any testing on either the 11S or 11GT to determine how long you can run on max output before it "backs off"?Understanding the weather will have some impact on the outcome.

    Where do we find this Klarus XT11GT that reaches 402m?

    I have the Klarus XT12. I think I bought it last year. I absolutely love that light. It is remarkable, and I use it all the time. I have the holster mounted in my truck, right by my 12V usb charger. I love that setup, primarily because my XT12 uses the magnetic charger. I don't have to aim. I can see it in the dark. I don't have to worry about cable wear, chaffing, or bends that are damaging. It is pretty much perfect, and my favorite unique feature....because it is not a gimmick...it's real life awesome! Why do these have micro usb connections now? That is so disappointing.

      Oops, never mind. I hadn't made it all the way through when I wrote this. Not sure why they moved away from the magnetic charger, but at least it is still available in the larger models.

    xg11gt quit working 3 months later.. called going gear and they told me to contact China. So the seller does nothing for USA buyers.

      any update on the xt12gt? would definitely like to see a video review on one soon, as I would like to purchase either an 11gt or 12gt for christmas.
      i think i'd prefer the xt12gt, provided the beam isn't a whole heap narrower and still has a reasonable amount of spill similar to the 11gt.

    This is a light from a Chinese front company. It will begin to fail immediately. There will be no warranty or any backing at all. 100$ down the drain.
    I wish this guy would ammend his video.

      I bought mine through amazon. I have contacted Klarus through their website three times now and still have yet to receive a reply. Maybe they reply to dealers that purchase in bulk but they ignore customers that do not.

      +james palmer I have nothing against the reviewer and unlike you, will refrain from juvenile name calling. It does you as little credit as your parents and your association to the poster. It was his thorough review that finally enticed me to purchase.
      The flashlight was defective. It eventually blew up in my hand. Fortunately it was well encapsulated and I experienced nothing more than heat and the smell of electrical burning.
      After 6 attempts to contact klarus someone finally replied (in very poor English) and simply told me to deal with the person that sold it to me.
      If this flashlight does not function properly return it immideately! When it works it's a great light but there are a lot of defective lights out there (as evidenced by other posts in this thread) and Klarus is shady.

      nr4dd You must have received a defective flashlight. I own two Klarus flashlights and have not had any problems. When they make thousands, if not millions of flashlights there are bound to be a few defective units that were shipped. If you don't like Klarus then give the Acebeam L16 a shot if you want the same high lumen output. It has a strobe function on the side switch but the tailcap goes straight to turbo. There are other reviews on here that cover the functions.

    as a self-defence blinding unit is XT11S better as the beam is narrower than GT, or is GT better because of higher lumens? thanks
