wild start
Helena is a dreamer = she sees the future. It’s happened multiple times in season 1
Haelena can see the future but it's always cryptic
Wild subtitles
wild is an understatement. this was so dark.
Is there anyway to access the dune 2 reaction? IDC if y'all "talk too much" or w/e
Syrax was grieving because Arrax, Lucery's dragon was her child
Excellent catch
And also dragons have a really deep connection to their riders so Syrax felt both pains, the one from herself of losing Arrax and the one from Rhaenyra losing Lucerys.
Damn didn’t know that. I thought she was grieving cause dragons can feel their rider’s pain
@@flowy6441 do dragons grieve for their children??
@@happilyevernever4289 No they don't, they don't raise them... it's the connection with the rider.
That scene between Rhaenyra and Jace just ripped me. Remember, it was Jace who suggested that Rhaenyra send them as envoys instead of ravens. He must feel so much guilt, compounded by grief. Outstanding performances by both actors.
This makes me think that Jace might act irrationally to try to avenge his brother.
It's been a couple of days to sit with this but yeah, the immense pain and guilt. It poured through the scene. I felt both of their feelings and cried with them.
Not everyone can pull that off
notice when helena says “not the dragons, the rats” she looks at her sons bed

A lot of reactors seem to have completely missed that the rat catcher _specifically_ asked Daemon: "What if we can't find him?". Daemon gives a little smile and it cuts away. He basically told them to be Denzel. I.e "I'm leaving here with _something_ ".
Also Halena is a dreamer. Viserys told us in season 1 that some Targaryans are dreamers. I.e are clairvoyant. You remember season 1 when she said: "The beast beneath the floor" then Rhaenys came up through the floor with hee dragon at the end of the episode? Her cryptic words are a huge hint as to something bad happening that episode.
its lowkey getting sad for me that people are needing details like that explained through dialog these days
No daemon didn't grin his mouth didn't even move. And I bet the words he told them were " a son for a son no head no gold" they say both phrases and we didn't see daemon tell them that on screen so likely when they cut away. I seen a video and in the video they said the director or whatever mentions that blood and cheese acted on their own. Likely wanting to leave quickly ( mostly cheese)
@@sh0ts420tbh it wasn’t made clear enough, I’ve only seen 1 reactor channel realise it. You basically need to know what’s going to happen already to make the connection in your first watch

Think we need to start paying more attention to Helena. If you go back to season one episode 6, when Alicent tells Aemond, “He will have a dragon,” then Helena says, “He’ll have to close an eye,” then in the next episode with Aemond getting his dragon, he also loses an eye. There are a couple more times where she basically predicts what will happen.
Good job detective

Helaena has some sort of future visions, she also predicted things in season 1. Here she said at the beginning she fears for the rats, she already knew her son will be killed, so she tried to avoid it by using the necklace but it became clear it can't be avoided. She was shocked and speechless so she took the chance to save her daughter atleast.

15:10 Aemond said “we should use our dragons to take Harrenhal” but then Alicent pointed out, “we need Vhagar to stay in King’s Landing to deter Rhaenyra attacking with HER dragons” - it’s like chess, or you know, naval warfare…if I send my battleship to attack a port it leaves my port undefended. Dragons or battleships can only be in one place at a time.…ah…it’s like Attack on Titan at the start of Season 4: “Why didn’t Marley send all of its Titan Shifters to our island, only some of them?” “They need to keep at least a few at home base to deter attack from other enemy countries”

So Helaena, the woman at the end who ran with her remaining child is a dragon dreamer. It’s practically having premonitions, dreams or visions of things before they happen and they can often be prophetic. We can see this when Helaena mentions a “beast beneath the boards” which was Rhaenys coming through with her dragon during Aegon’s coronation. We get another example in this episode when she mentions being afraid of the rats, which is a nod to the man (cheese) who said she was “telling true” as he is the castles rat catcher. Helaena often also struggles to get a grasp or understanding of what she has dreams about and many just believe her to be crazy because when she does speak of them they don’t make much sense, as you saw in the episode.
When Daemon is also meeting with Blood and Cheese (the two men who offed Helaena’s son) he mentions that they might have an issue with confronting Aemond due to him being a good warrior and then they ask what if they can’t find him before it cuts to another scene. It’s assumed by a lot of people that after they asked that Daemon replied with a son for a son and just settled for getting one of the king’s children in turn.
In the books instead of the necklace, Helaena offers herself instead but I like the differences they have in the show. Anyways, Helaena along with her children are probably the only innocent people on team Green that really didn’t deserve anything that happened to them. Her story is a tragic one for real. 😭
I hated that they didn't show the only time that Helaena showed courage, when (in the book) she offered her own life if Blood & Cheese would spare her child(ren). I think that makes more sense than her offering of a necklace.
@@gailf1617 I do agree a bit for that part! when I was mentioning that scene and the differences in the show I was mostly using it as an umbrella term for other scenes that they changed. Sorry if I confused anyone with that 😭 I’m not good at putting thoughts into words sometimes
Exactly!! 😢😢😢😢
Hm... isn't Heleana's dragon named Dreamfyre?
@@blackdwarfstar1246 Yes, Dreamfyre is Helaena’s dragon
Ending the first season with a child getting munched by a dragon and then starting the second season with a child getting beheaded is some wild shit.
Even more crazy, in the book they make Helaena chose who dies then lean in and say “hear that your mother wants you dead” then they kill the heir.
@@joekellyoudon’t forget the part where they threatened to R*pe the daughter first in front of her.😢 people who supported blood and cheese are sick 🤮

Lol the Queen is not crazy at all. She's clairvoyant. She saw it happening, hence the "I'm afraid of the rats".
But that goes for the rat snatchers and the rats/people.
They watered it down lol
Daemon purposefully sends Blood and Cheese to Helaena’s quarters, and after being asked to pick which child to kill, they threaten to assault her daughter. Whilst crying, she points to her youngest son Maelor, and Blood cuts his head off with one swing of a sword in front of her.
Also Cole should've been Guarding the Queen and her children,instead....

“Put my cape on so I can be Super Mad” is something I plan on perpetuating throughout my household. Diabolical word play in its greatest form
The talk with Jace and Cregan made me mad all over again because if NO DRAGON ever went beyond the wall IT WAS FOR A REASON😂fucking Dany’s dragon said “nah I’d win” And got folded
I mean it could’ve been that the magic protecting the wall was fading by the time Daenerys came around also probably wouldn’t effect Drogon as he was actually birthed with blood magic unlike all the other dragons who were just hatched. That could be a solid answer as to why her dragons could pass but others couldn’t and wouldn’t.
@@Mcherri Or D&D just stopped trying once they realized they had the finish the story themselves.
I understand, yeah, the bit about the dragons refusing to go beyond the wall is canon in the book. D&D changed a lot for shock value and enterteining purposes, not saying such changes couldn't be enyojable or fun to watch for some, but it is important to notice that the showrunners of House of the Dragon are trying to be more book acurate / respecful than the last seasons of GoT.
thats not true, dannys dragon didn't cross the WALL the first time, they took a different approach by crossing the great lake and after that they were able to cross again.
I like this take a lot, i find story problems and writing issues in the show of course - but there still is a lot of good about every part of GoT@Mcherri

Yeah... I don't think Helaena was thinking about how her son was probably gonna die in the future and making a play, I think she was just scared that they'd kill both the kids if she didn't hurry up, and just picked one out of impulse...
no she was definitely thinking his son's potential monarch future. It was mentioned in the first minutes of the episode, Helena doesnt want his son to be a king. It's called Chekov's gun, the clue was set up and then there's a payoff
@@Playradise it's not that Helaena didn't want her boy to be king, but she was afraid for him and didn't like how Aegon was trynna raise him. It doesn't mean she premeditated her own son's murder. She literally chose to tell the truth coz that way they could get away and Helaena could atleast have saved her daughter and herself from further harm. That's one of the biggest reasons why Helaena would be tormented by the role she played in her son's demise. It wasn't coz she didn't want him to be king but coz she thought she had no other choice and opted to survive with her daughter instead. Otherwise, all three could've possibly been killed if they got pissed off by a different answer.
@@happilyevernever4289 oh my god you're just paraphrasing what i meant bro, she was afraid of him bcoming a king so she doesnt want it. U think theres a reality where being a king doesnt come with the horrors? No bro they come in one package
@Playradise you're slow 😂 not wanting him to be a king = choosing him to die ? @@niraxlevi9930 you a goddamn brain dead in that moment clearly she could she she wouldnt be able to sway the killers not to kill so she decided to relent and give her son bcause she thought it would be better than being a king anyway with all the horrors that would come wth it. I sugget you go to school bcause clearly you a moron, or better yet dont breed and spread your stupidity. Waste of cum
"Do we slide on the opps tonight" 😂😂
They completely misunderstood what Helaena did……she didn’t “sacrifice” Jaehaerys because “she didn’t want him to be king.” They were gonna find out who the boy was anyway (they threatened to undress the kids) so they would have known if she lied and possibly all of them would have been killed. Helaena assumed they would think she was bluffing (like Blood did) but Cheese knew she was telling the truth. But she never wanted the son to die because she didn’t want him to be king. That’s a huge reach of a conclusion honestly 😭
2:50 And this theme that's playing, the Starks theme is called "Goodbye Brother" references Jace losing his brother and him saying goodbye to him.
That pic about Naval war had me dying 🤣🤣🤣
The opening titles being a tapestry that shows the entire history of house Targaryen from the Doom all the way to now in the show is beautiful!
Weird how there were no guards around anywhere, especially during a war.
And it was in the Royal quarter of the castle, and not a guard in sight.
In the books the Blood and Cheese was far worse. Blood and Cheese had a more elaborate plan where they held Alicent hostage and waited for Helaena to visit with the children. They forced Helaena to choose who to kill, Aegon’s first son Jaehaerys or his second son Maelor. Helaena chose to save Jaehaerys because he was the heir (being more valuable) and hoped that Maelor was too young to understand what was going on. So Blood and Cheese told Maelor that his mother wanted him dead and killed Jaehaerys instead. Maelor was old enough to understand and remember what happened and Helaena became distraught over her son’s death and her guilt for choosing to kill her surviving son.
Where are you getting that Maelor remembered? Also these accounts are not 100% reliable
True I was honestly hoping to hear the infamously lines to Maelor makes it more heart breaking, the show was toned down and it disappointed me specially Helaenas reaction.
Maelor was cut for the show, that's so sad
During my reaction, hearing the bone crunching and sawing of the kids heads in my headphones was INSANE. Speechless lol
I was actually feeling scared for a second there before they transitioned to Helaena barging into Crispy Cole banging Helaena's mom and the latter having a low tier reaction.😂😂😂
For those wondering Helaena is a dreamer like some other Targaryans. Just hers leans more towards the gift of foreshadowing

Helaena (the Queen/Aegon’s wife) didn’t save the daughter to protect her from the crown. She pointed out the boy because Cheese said if she didn’t point him out they would kill both children. It was either lose her son or lose both her children, an almost impossible choice.
"Put my cape on so i can be supermad" is legitimate genius 💀💀
They made Helaena basically neurodivergent and in a different state of mind. I know people wanted her to scream but her expressions really shines here. Phia did such a wonderful job.
Aemond was the primary target. Aegon's heir was the secondary target, It was a reason why they did not show Daemon response to Cheese when he mention what if they cannot find Aemond.
You guys saw that after saying that she is afraid of the rats she looked directly at the cradle of little Jaehaerys, she had a prophetic dream about the death of her own son. And before Aegon entered the room, Helaena said, "They just want the boy."
this episode just keep proving that both sides are pure evil and that all of them needs to go.
Definitely! They are so toxic except for a few characters who're not corrupted by power and vengeance like Halaena and Daeron.
I don’t think anyone is this show is evil. I find that too be a very honestly shallow representation of all the characters in this show. We can’t really view these times with modern lens . They all have their reasons, goals, morals and etc. some are definitely more evil than others but I think most of them are just…idk
@@flameron1 both sides dont really care about the realm and the people in it, they just want power and revenge for their own families, and the people of the city are paying the price.

Appreciate yall and the editor getting this to us ASAP!
Don't forget Helena is clairvoyant and she seen her options and how things were gonna play out. So when it happened she immediately got detached and went into shock
I just started reading the books and what's cool is that at this point in time cregan stark just had to handle his uncle for trying to usurp the throne of the north. That's why cregan speaks with such honor and responsibility.
The castle is well guarded on the outside by Vhagar, while on the inside Criston guards Alicent's bed

A lot of people did not like Haelena's reaction but people forget in this adaptation she is neurodivergent. On top of that, everybody reacts to shocking and dangerous situations diferently. You could see the horror in her eyes, especially in the end.
I thought her reaction, as from the actor, was superb. So believable.
I think it is more too the fact that this is just less interesting and kinda makes her running away less dramatic. Also shes not neurodivergent she has real future sight that fucks with her head but doesnt really make her any less social or able to emote. In fact we saw her last season jump from much smaller things and react too visions. Here the real kicker though if she was really going too not scream and instead freeze up how was she able to just pick up her kid walk right too her moms room and tell em whats up? Seems like if she was gonna freeze she should have just been frozen stiff.

The Queen was not talking about the rats in the wall. She was talking to people who are rats. Damon, for what he did is a rat. The dudes, what they did is a rat. Her son plotting against her is a rat. the foot dude, is a rat. Rats inside the castles are humans, not the animals?
In the books this was slightly different because they made the mom choose between her two sons (there was an extra toddler boy who doesn't seem to exist in the TV version) but I'm wondering if they changed it to make succession a more interesting question within the Green faction. The succession question in the Dance is essentially- does the king's word decide who his heir is or is it decided by precedent from previous choices that have been made when there was a question of succession? If the king's word decides, Aegon is a usurper but if Aegon's saying he's the rightful heir due to precedent... then he has to pass over his daughter and make his brother Aemond his heir, since the precedent they're following places a king's brothers above his daughters. So by giving him only a daughter left instead of her & the other son, now Aegon's got to make a choice to choose his daughter (undermining the strength of his own claim against Rhaenyra) or pass her over for his brother.
Well at the start they (the greens and the kingdoms) went with the female heir over the kings brother, its not tell the king had a son that people changed ship over too the son. I think they just changed this too have this part be very different cause son for a son would work with either. In the books blood and cheese made her choose just too mess with her I guess and they killed the one she didn't choose so she would have to live with the son she knew she choose too die. Kinda not as good as in the books plus the walking in on sex part seemed a bit of bad timing in what was meant to be tense.
