To be fair the only thing going for the Targaryen’s was their dragons granted they are pretty big thing but without them, I mean the Lannisters are rich beyond comprehension, Starks are the oldest major house they extremely well respected and have ties everywhere, Baratheons had extremely good warriors and commanders, the Targaryens without dragons most of them are just petty people with massive egos. So when they lost them yk what I mean.

To be honest, it’s a bit of sloppy writing. Everyone there knows he has a twin brother. So him walking up to the door, when the guards thought he was already inside, should have raised red flags. Even the guard he relieves outside her chambers gives him a slightly funny look. Rhaenyra should have had him shave or given him a face tattoo to prevent the possibility of his twin infiltrating.

Daemon did give an order to Blood and Cheese. We saw saw him tell them to take out Aemond, but we also saw Cheese ask him what they should do if they can't find Aemond, and then the scene cut away without showing Daemon's answer. However, it's pretty obvious he did give them an answer. When Cheese had the knife against Helaena's throat, Blood told him their orders were "a son for a son". We didn't see Daemon tell them "a son for a son", so it stands to reason that Daemon gave that instruction in response to what they should do if they could not find Aemond

He was the right Hand of two kings who managed to maintain peace and rule wisely. And this was largely thanks to Otto. But in the end, his time passed, and he took on his soul a sin for which the royal family will pay on both sides.
And of course, thank that they FINALLY mentioned Daeron, who should have appeared in season 1, so as not to shock the audience now, but we have what we have...

Otto was right at the start of the episode. It's a tragedy, but nothing will bring the child's life back. If the death can be used to stop a full out civil war, this theater can can now save countless lives, including all the other kids on both sides.
It's painful, but it's the right choice.
At the end he didn't "let her off". His daughter wanted to talk to him, share her actions, and probably wanting his comfort. He didn't "let her off easy", he pushed her away. She never had a loving parent, so she doesn't know how to be one to her kids. Aemond's looking for motherly love in a courtesan is another consequence of that family's broken relationship with each other.

But all he heard was “Bring me Luke’s eye”, so he recalled to that at Storm’s End, to “take it as a gift to my mother”. And now the scene in the brothel. He just wanted his mother to love him, and I think it shows the similarity between Otto and Alicent.

Book lore (NO future spoilers - just the fight between the twins):
Arryk arrived on the island disguised as a fisherman, changed to his Kingsguard armor and white cloak, and easily entered the castle. However, as Arryk was making his way to the royal apartments, he coincidentally encountered Erryk, who immediately understood why his twin was there.
Accounts of the fight that followed greatly differ.
Septon Eustace's account simply states that the Cargyll twins slew each other.
According to singers, the brothers professed their love for each other as they drew their swords.
Per Grand Maester Munkun's The Dance of the Dragons, A True Telling, Erryk and Arryk battled for most of an hour. The noise of the fight woke half of Rhaenyra's court, but they could only watch, as none could tell which twin was which. In the end, Arryk and Erryk mortally wounded each other, and died in each other's arms, weeping.
And finally, per The Testimony of Mushroom, the fight lasted only moments, and the brothers did not declare their love, but rather called each other traitor. Erryk struck the first mortal blow, nearly cutting off Arryk's arm at the shoulder. As Arryk collapsed, he grabbed Erryk's cloak and pulled him close to stab him in the belly with a dagger. Arryk was dead before anyone found them, but Erryk took four days to die from his gut wound, screaming in pain and cursing his brother the whole time.
I love how the show encapsulated a piece from nearly all "eyewitness" accounts of the fight.

Also, Prince Daeron gets his first mention in the show! This is Alicient's fourth child, which was hinted at in the previous opening (which showed the family tree), but has so far gone unmentioned. He's in Oldtown with the Hightowers. After rewatching the 1st season I have a certain respect for Otto. He’s literally just like Tywin Lannister both characters are the most logical thinkers in their position. Some of their decisions seem messed up but if you take emotions out of it they make the most sound decisions in their situations. The thing is when you sit in such a high position and every decision you make affects thousands of people you have to think about what makes the most sense instead of making decisions based on how you feel. Otto using his grandsons death as a political pawn to sway the emotions of the masses is no different than how emmet tills death was used to bolster the civil rights movement.

At first I was worried that the writers completey excluded Daeron from the show.. They finally mentioned my boy! When he shows up and he will, I hope they will portray him right - like in the books. For me he is not like Aegon or Aemond. He was a fairly kind, clever, and humble guy. Definitely the best among Alicen't sons. And honestly? The best among all of Viserys' kids (barring Helaena who we all love). Too bad, he was Alicent's third son. If Daeron was her eldest son then that throne would have been his. Or at the very least, Rhaenyra would have a tough time trying to defeat him. Because he's at least someone you can support for a reason beyond his so-called "birthright".
    (Spoiler for non book readers)
The toughest part with Daeron is that he is a kid - some of the worst atrocities occur directly under his watch after Tumbleton, he isn't directly committing them like Aemond burning the riverlands or Aegon's litany of dark and violent deeds, but because he is 'a Targaryen alone in the world', and a kid besides, he's unable to do anything about it. Literally just if Ormond had lived, if Aemond had not been so overly single minded on vengeance against Daemon, if Daeron hadn't burned hundreds of injured people in a Sept at Bitterbridge (😬 I can believe he set the whole town on fire by accident the way it is described, especially considering how disgusted he is later), if Daeron's councilors had not been afraid of giving up potential dragon power and imprisoned/killed the betrayers sooner, if the men around him weren't so selfishly power hungry, things could have worked out differently. It's also possible history speaks better of him because he dies. Nonthelsss I can't wait till they give us Daeron the Daring alongside Tessarion!
This episode was an emotional roller-coaster. From watching Aegon and poor Haleana griefing over their baby boy 😢. The Daemon and Rhaenyra "fall-out". But I know Daemon will undo his mistake in the next episode. Aemond cheeks supremacy!!!The Cargyll twins duell was so emotional I can't even 😭 Ser Criston probably by now the most disliked character! 🤣 Tom Glynn Carney, Emma D'Arcy and Rhys Ifans put a god-tier performance in this episode! peak acting.

The twins fight was one of the most gut wrenching moments for me in the book and although a little different it's still equally as sucky in live action. The book hits a little harder though with them both telling each other they love one another before going ahead and both doing their duty and fighting each other now they have come face to face on opposing sides.

To my opinion Aegon II can not be compare to Joeffrey. Joeffrey was a sadist, a newbie sadist compared to ramsey who had more experience and opportunity, but still a sadist that could have become a bigger one if he lived longer. Aegon doesn't seem to be sadist to me (neither a psychopath or sociopath like Ramsey/Joffrey) but he is a young man, with a lack of love from his parents. He finally began to feel that loved thanks to his son and after his death, he seems to become obsess with vengence. Hard to blame him but yeah... I'm team Black, but I love to see the psychology and the depth of the characters in team Green. And let's not talk about generational trauma in green side because that's an all other topic lol !!!
