Arryk and Erryk's death saddened me and I blamed Cole for it . I hate that guy.
Aegon understands Helaena's pain of losing a child, but he doesn't know how to communicate it, because he was raised that way by Alicent
Facts
I actually really feel for Alicent's kids in that regard, they never got true affection from her or comfort so they don't know what to do with their feelings when upset or in grief. I mean let's not get is twisted Aegon is horrible he's a serial r*pist & watched child violence for fun as well as doesn't care he has his b*stards being used in the fighting pits. He's a terrible person but he at least cared for his son, not sure about his daughter and it may be more to do with Jahaerys being his legacy as he said being that he's likely a narcissist but for some reason I genuinely think Aegon loved his son, he certainly wanted to include him more then Vycerys did with him so he was trying to be a better father in that sense. But then again Alicent was made by her father to marry Vycerys at a very young age & start popping out babies plus Alicent certainly didn't get any affection from her father, Otto is a very cold person, so each generation inflicts the same hurt upon the next generation without realizing it.

@@roguechevelle Aegon isn't really that bad. Well, not on the show anyway. He's just an alcoholic who doesn't use his head and cares only for revelry. As for morals, you have to consider the world he lives in and his position within it. And his age.
I really liked Otto in this episode, probably for the first time ever. And I'm glad that we were shown his wise side. He was the right Hand of two kings who managed to maintain peace and rule wisely. And this was largely thanks to Otto. But in the end, his time passed, and he took on his soul a sin for which the royal family will pay on both sides.
And of course, thank that they FINALLY mentioned Daeron, who should have appeared in season 1, so as not to shock the audience now, but we have what we have...
P.s. Aegon played by Tom Glynn-Carney turned out great. There is simply no more controversial character in the series. He literally drives you crazy, goes from hate to love and in circles.
This is Otto who finally is seeing the consequences of his actions trying to install Aegon on the throne.
It was at this moment Otto knew he f*cked up

It's so funny how quick people are to turn on certain characters, Otto started all of this, he put Aegon on the throne!!! If it's not his plan , he thinks it's a stupid one. He gives himself too much credit, he overplayed his hand and it's biting him in the ass. I feel for Aegon, Helena and Aemond. All doomed from the start.
Plus wasn’t Otto just saying earlier that Aegon looked weak? Then why he got over exaggerated when Aegon killed all the rat catchers
All of Alicent's kids are doomed because of their Hightower heritage. All kids inherited generational trauma, abuse and physical characteristics of their parent's anxieties.
What's important is, mistake or no, Daemon does not care that Jahaerys was killed. He's showing no remorse and accepting no responsibility. Regardless of wether it was his intent, he seems fine with the outcome.

It is quite deceitful from the green supporters that they keep ignoring and forgetting some events in the show that don't fit into their narratives that the show is black biased. In the book Daemon was rumored to have done countless of disgusting, terrible things but what made up for his darkness and evil was the love and respect he had for his family. Unfortunately it seems the writers in the show are struggling to depict a morally grey character and they are making him out to be worse than he actually was when it regards his family and Rhaenyra. They took away the main characteristic of him that made him gray, affection and devotion for his family and for those he loves (the choking and how he acted towards his daughters). He couldn’t kill Rhea Royce in the book, and he never appeared at Rhaenyra wedding to try to stop her from marrying and almost making out with her. They made Rhaenys responsible for killing dozens of innocents.
Also, the Greens' action is based on mistakes and accidents, it even seems that the characters have no control over their own destiny. Like show made it seem as if Aemond's actions were unintentional, about murdering Luke, whereas the book implies the opposite. They made Alicent more sympathetic in the show too.
Besides the people that "wrote" the book are green biased. The source material is an in world history book written by multiple maesters with an agenda years after the fact who all contradict each other, the most unreliable narrator possible.

This is otto's fault for not preparing aegon to rule.
Why would he? Otto clearly intended to be the power behind the throne. Stupid and compliant suited him well. It's stupid and stubborn that's a problem for Otto.
But OTTO, since Aegon was born, already knew that he was going to put him on the throne and he never guided or advised him, despite having thought Alicent that the son was going to be king, if you want him to reign, at least prepare him!
Aegon was Viserys' son, and the reason he turned out the way he did was because his own father never viewed him as worthy of the throne, Viserys was a completely absent father when it came to raising his sons. He only ever viewed Rhaenyra as his one true child, had he not neglected Aegon, things would be different.
More like it's Otto's fault for plotting to overthrow Rhaenyra. She has all the qualities of a good monarch that Otto wants Aegon to be. Literally all Otto had to do was stand aside and let Rhaenyra take her rightful place as Queen. Then none of this would have happened lmao
It's Otto's fault for being a traitor to Viserys and Rheanyra.
Dameon does love rhaneyra and he loves his brother as well: it’s just a fact of him having one of the strongest dragons and everyone treating him as a second son.
Criston really pissed me off. I was angry over his nerve to blame the twin. I'm prior service and I get that it's not quite the same as being a knight, but it has some similarities. All I know that if a leader tried to pin something on me like that, I probably would've flipped out on them because of the bs. I never really got in trouble but I wasn't on board wiyh scapegoated. Criston would of raised my adrenaline and I would have been shaking trying my hardest not to punch him in the face.
You can tell Arryk was REALLY close to call Criston out but got a too strong of a sense of dignity, that Criston abused while he himself doesn't have any
they really made him a cartoon villain, he has no redeemable characteristic
After that conversation between Erryk and Daemon in Ep 1 about honoring his vows, I had a feeling he was going to die. The real ones with honor are the first to die in this world.
It's ironic, thanks to Blood and Cheese, Aegon is in the same position his father was in. An ambitious, unpredictable, younger brother, and only a girl as his heir. You can see why Otto wanted this type of arrangement, but unlike Viserys, Aegon isn't so easily manipulated in his anger. Considering everyone's reaction to Criston Cole, it becomes more and more apparent in the book why Barristan Selmy spoke so ill of him as a member of the Kings guard.
The interesting thing about the twins is that although I'm sure you can frame by frame it to know which one won(?), ultimately it doesnt matter. But thats classic GoT, no one wins.

@@VMohdude-they are all barely characters in the book, that’s due to the nature of it being a retrospective history and not following individual characters chapter by chapter. For his part, his actions and story are incredibly important during the war
For me, the Greens are so much more interesting and complex than Black, that diologue beetwen Otto and Aegon are awesome.

There are so many points it's hard to truly determine how exactly this war started. Was is when Visarys kept Raenerya his heir after he had a son with Alicent? When Alicent made Aegon king after his death? When Lucarys died?

Daemon is way wrong. Viserys never seemed jealous of Daemon or concerned about who was stronger nor was he worried about daemon gaining more glory than him…? Daemon seems like a narcissist. Rhaenyra is right, he’s more concerned about being remembered as some great battle man or gain so much glory. Viserys and Rhaenyra have been so loyal and attempt to be supportive toward daemon cuz they’re family, but at the end of the day daemon is gonna put him and his wants first .

I agree it's a awful thing to do, nor do I agree. It's an evil act. But evil in general is so vast a concept that everyone and anyone tend to misinterpret. Once you fork up an entire track record that dates your whole entire life full of evil acts, you get qualified as evil. It's more muddled when your life is mixed between evil and good actions. Double so for the fact that he was written TO be the most Grey character outside of Jamie. He does evil things, but also has the ability to do good. Without spoiling I won't say more.

I have read the book, eagerly waiting fo the next episode .......
I'm pro Green because it's clear to me that the realm simply didn't want a woman as queen.
Jaehaerys is often looked back at as a golden example of a king, one of the best kings that Targeryens ever produced and he was of the belief that the realm wouldn't accept a Queen Regnant.
He and Alysanne actually had a falling out over it.
But when put to the lords to decide, at the great council it was like 20 to 1 no girls (I know it was more complicated than that was really Laenor v Viserys) but the implication was clear.
Rhaenyra also went about being the first female heir apparent in a manner that was less than ideal.
She fathered 3 bastards (I'm ignoring everyone who argues that this isn't the case there's always one) and was happy to have killed or maimed anyone who pointed this out and named one of those bastards heir to the throne.
That's very much a slap in the face to the ones in the realm who already have an issue with a woman on the throne (doesn't matter in terms of blood though because whoever the father they were definitely going to be Targaryen) basically fomenting the grounds for a civil war
Additionally while they acted crazy after the war started, anyone who's even slightly aware of the word realpolitik knows that Rhaenyra's best bet was to come up with some reason to kill her half brothers as threats to her throne.
The only thing that stopped her from torturing Aemond for calling her boys Strongs was that she didn't yet have the crown.
On the other hand Aegon didn't even want the crown (I know many don't believe this but I don't see too much of a reason not to) and drank and whored a lot.
Aemond is exactly as bad as Daemon to me. I personally hate Daemon more, disliked him ever since his "heir for a day" comment. Daemon's definitely smarter though.
I also don't recall the Hightowers doing anything particularly slimy, sure Otto had spies and acted in his self interest as much as the realms (if not more so arguably) but I've yet to see an intelligent character who doesn't do that and unlike Rhaenyra his ambitions aligned with the overall wishes of the realm.

She was ready to consider Ottos terms when he went to dragon stone beacuse she didnt want a war.But than they killed her son. You wanted her to do nothing and just let it go? Rhaenyra tried but couldnt have children with Laenor. She had to have children with someone because she needed a heir. What else could she do. Even team green know that they started all this. If wasnt for them the war wouldnt have happend. Any relaliation or rebelion would be easy to shut down beacuse they have dragons. No one would dare to do anything agaisnt them if they were united. Im sure if Rhaenyra was at kings landing when viserys died she wouldnt have to take power in the middle of the night like a criminal because she was the heir.

The Queen s atitude is also result of inbreeding where some people end up having predictions powers and very critical interpretations of reality. I would compare her as someone onthe spectrum, her expressions are not as dramatic as everyone else but it doesn't mean they don't care. They just act differently. Also she asked if the boy didn't want to be a king, and I feel like was part of her strategy.

She is, if watch the picture of this episode then Rhaenys have the hand of the Queen pin on her. I think she was just a temporary hand for the time being until Corlys was officially appointed after Rooke's Rest.

14:30 If you'll remember, in the immediate aftermath of Viserys's death, Otto wanted the twins to get Aegon out of the city walls and meet him there. That always struck me as odd. Like, you'd think it'd be safer in King's Landing and the Red Keep, right? My theory is that his intention was to kill Aegon, blame it on the White Worm, and install Aemond as king instead.
That is a completely harebrained theory with absolutely no evidence for it. Otto may be an ambitious asshole, but there is nothing to ever suggest that he would consider ever going as far as murdering his eldest grandson and in his mind, the rightful king.
The whole point was that Otto and Alicent were competing who would get to Aegon first and thus could guide them however they saw fit and decide how Aegon's coronation would happen. It would be counterproductive for Otto to find him and then just bring him to the keep to Alicent's reach.
He most likely wanted to hide Aegon outside the city, out of the reach of anyone else for a while, so Otto could prepare him and the nobility for Aegon to usurp the throne, while keeping Viserys' death a secret. Instead Criston and Aemond got to Aegon first and Alicent decided to crown him immediately.
@@jonttul Ludicrous my theory may be, but the idea that they could keep Viserys's death a secret long enough for Otto to instruct Aegon in the ways of kingship is also pretty absurd.

Another very good episode. Y do I feel more people r more upset with criston in this episode over daemon who literally had a child killed? U guys smirk and laugh at daemon just smiling when he hears the news of the child death and then u say criston is ur most hated character? It makes no sense.
Ive been saying this for the longest daemon and Otto r two side of the same coin. They are upset with their kings and queens because neither listen to them, they both want to be in control, and when they not in control they both over step.
They only difference between them is that they use different tools to attack their enemies. Daemon uses the blade and otto has his tongue.
