I have had completely happy since being placed on this medication.. diagnosed at 65 with rheumatoid disease and finally relief on this medication. It took several weeks before I saw results..
That's amazing to hear! I'm so glad the medication has brought you relief. It can be such a game-changer when you find something that works for you.
Did you get Covid?
I wish all Drs explained as well as you do. Thank you, 👍💯💕💕💕
I have been on Plaquenil as well as Methotrexate since 2020 for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Initially it was hard, but now I am happy to report that my symptoms have improved significantly. Thank you Doctor for sharing these invaluable videos.
Have you got Covid?
I have been on hydroxychloroquine since 2020 for treatment of Sjogren's Disease. It has helped tremendously with my joint and muscle pain. I've not experienced any side effects from the medication. I see a retina specialist every 6 months due to another retina issue not related to Sjogren's. This doctor regularly assesses for retinopathy and also manages my dry eye disease. Recently, my symptoms have worsened, and my inflammatory markers have begun to rise again. My rheumatologist recently recommended adding leflunomide to my medication regimen. Unfortunately, as is a potential with all autoimmune rheumatic diseases I have developed a serious cardiopulmonary issue called pulmonary arterial hypertension. All patients diagnosed with AIRDs should take caution, see a knowledgeable pulmonologist, and undergo an annual pulmonary screening and testing.
Thank you for sharing your experience with hydroxychloroquine and the other treatments you're undergoing. It's great to hear that it has helped with your pain and that you haven't experienced any side effects. Wishing you all the best in managing your symptoms and finding relief!
Hi i want to can doc use hcq for apla just only beta2 test not any other test is positive hope you answer my question only beta 2 galycoprotein can doc uses hcq

Great suggestion! I will do it!
I've had RA 30+ years and more recently experiencing most of the
negative effects from being prescribed this drug. Drug Induced Lupus caused a reaction that made me believe that I was dying. Because I had not been getting the proper treatment at the local hospital and their hospitalers . The last time I went to the ER , a doctor told me that I shouldn't go there anymore because there wasn't a way to help me. Anyhow, I was being treated as if I was mentally having problems. They put me in an ER stall to monitor me. While in the worst room, I was aware that I was having mild hallucinations and that not having an advocate for me, I needed to get out of there and find a way to get to a hospital with Rheumatologists to consult with.
This is only a small fraction of what I've seriously been experiencing from #Firsthealth Moore Regional Hospital in NC
sorry for your struggle!
Dr. Girnita as always very informative information. I was put on Hydroxychloroquine 200mg and I had severe headaches. Doctor wants me to try again on a lower dose. I get migraines daily and afraid trying it again will make my migraines worse. I haven't taken any medication in 4 years after being diagnosed with SLE.
I'm sorry to hear about your headaches. It's important to communicate your concerns with your doctor and find a solution that works best for you.
Thank you Dr. Girnita for your concise easy-to-follow videos. Diagnosed with RA-ILD April 2024. Tapering off Prednisone while being on Hydroxycloriquine 400mg/day since end of April. Sounds like 8+ weeks before feeling any effects from Hdx. Pred from 30mg/day down to 10mg but that offers relief for only 12 hours or so. If I’m feeling moderate joint pain and stiffness from RA, which is tangible, are my lungs continuing to be damaged until the RA is completely under control? Thank you.
It's great to hear that Dr. Girnita's videos have been helpful to you. It's essential to stay on track with your treatment plan and communicate any concerns with your healthcare provider.
Hcq use for beta 2 i really like your videos you are very nice doc
Ok. Thanks
Muchos efectos secundarios he leido en los comentarios , si bien en algunis funciona al principio lyego hay otros sintomas peores. Podra la medicina crear un meducamento que ayude a los pacientes???
Why did my rheumatologist prescribe this to me when I have erosive hand osteoarthritis, not rheumatoid arthritis? Recent studies show it is ineffective for erosive osteoarthritis.
How can I get a prescription??
Welcome! Thank you for the video!
I have Sjögren's syndrome and am anti ssa positive. Last year, a pregnancy had to be terminated due to a heart block. I have been taking plaquenil since February, will this help with my next pregnancy?

My best friend has been on Hydroxycloroquine for the past year following a diagnosis of Sjogren's syndrome. A few months into the treatment, she began experiencing a distressing symptom: an intense itching and burning sensation, predominantly affecting the lower part of her body, triggered by showers. This discomfort persists for approximately 30 minutes before subsiding, and interestingly, cold water appears to mitigate its severity. We came across an article suggesting that this could be a side effect of hydroxychloroquine. Could this indeed be the case? And do you have any suggestions as to how she could tackle this?
Thank you for sharing your friend's experience. It's essential to raise awareness about the potential side effects of medications like hydroxychloroquine. I hope she finds relief soon!
Yes, it is one of the big side effects of the Quinine drugs family , unfortunately.
i had, sometimes happens still, horrible skin sensitivity especially where i had bruises. i bruise a lot as my blood levels are not great. if i touched a bruise even ever so gently it would create excruciating pain. well i don't have this symptom now but the symptoms come and go as they please...
If I understood you correctly, the occurrence or retinopathy is higher after 5yrs?? My RA doctor said it goes down and the threat is lessened. Thereby only needing to see the eye dr once a year instead of every 6mo. I'm confused.
Your doctor is wrong. The eye issues are way more likely to happen the longer you are on the med, especially 10-15 years.
Correct!
My doc told me to take hcq for beta 2 some other doc said only take lowprin thsts y i am confused can you guide me can i continue hcq for beta 2 or not
I do not know your specific situation. Thank you for following me!
Been taking this for 15+ years besides methotrexate. My RA has not improved. Can hardly walk.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It's important to hear different perspectives and outcomes. I hope you find a treatment that brings you relief soon.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing discomfort with the medication. It's important to consult with your healthcare provider about these side effects.
How about the hair loss issue with this drug?

I'm sorry to hear that you had to stop taking the drug. Your health and well-being should always come first.

I’ve been using this drug since 2007. It no longer works for my lupus or Ankylosing spondylitis.
