Share your experiences Plaquenil below! I wasn't on Plaquenil long because I didn't need it (intuitively knew this).

It has really helped me with SLE but it took 6 months before i really felt a big difference.

I've been back on plaquenil for a 1½ years now(For SLE). In the beginning I did get a bit dizzy and upset tummy, but now I make sure I take it with a meal. It did take about 2 months for me to start feeling some improvement. It actually helped with the bad chills.I don't take any other anti-inflammatory in conjunction so the plaquenil helps a lot.

Glad you shared your story. That was a similar experience to many of the patients I worked with.

My 83 yo mother started plaquenil a few weeks ago. So far just mild upset stomach but that’s dissipated. I am concerned about it causing heart issues in the long run. Has anyone else heard or researched the med causing cardiac problems with prolonged use?

It took some time dealing my insurance to get it properly filled (because of residual restrictions that we're put in place when an unnamed man in a large, white house told the media it was a miracle way to manage covid) but I've been on it for about a week for psoriatic arthritis. I haven't noticed any changes yet, but I also haven't had any side effects to complain about so I'm okay with being patient and giving it a few months.

It takes the edge off a little for my RA. I am on 8 meds right now for Fibro/RA/Gerd. I take plaquenil, meloxicam, prednisone, cyclobenzapr, duloxetine, famatodine for Gerd, trazadone for sleep, and phentermine for an appetite suppressant.

I have had an improvement on plaquenil, I have sle and sjogren's syndrome. I was in a lot of pain which has reduced but every now and then I feel I have a bad eye day where its a bit blurry

Where I worked they would have people on plaquenil get an eye exam each year to watch for side effects in the eyes from plaquenil 🌺

I'm sorry to hear that. I was often told it can take up to 6 months for these meds to work but that it can take less than that.

My dr is planning on starting me on this next visit for Dermatomyositis. I am a bit worried because I also might have Myasthenia Gravis and I heard the Plaquenel was a no no for it. I wonder if there is any other drug in this class I could take to be safe. I would rather not start total immune suppressant to start. I would like to give immune modification a try first but I don’t know any other than Plaquenel. If anyone knows anything about any of this please let me know I’d appreciate it.

Here's a playlist of some other common meds that are used: ruclips.net/p/PLmzNvSKOi05ChqDLd1U7UWKPw_fxLsAVP
Most of the meds used to treat RA are also used for dermatomyositis. Hope this helps! Sending love and blessings your way :)
