I have GV60 and it is an amazing car. It is definitely a luxury car and competes with the European brands like BMW, Mercedes or Audi. My experience is the efficiency is about 18 kw / 100 km across all modes but obviously, it will vary from driver to driver. I mainly charge my vehicle at home using solar so that is an almost nil cost to operate. On a recent road trip, I was able to fast charge at up to 250 kwh. Many Tesla chargers are also now opening up to non Tesla so that gives more options. So far, I am very happy with the GV60.
I own a GV60 and have seen 240klw charging at a fast charger, it’s flat charging curve is definitely a positive, but like you say find a 350klw charger that works to its full potential is the challenge.
The Genesis looks like a beautiful car, I like the interior and the quality of fittings presents well. Not perfect but very nice. Range not great, but if you use it in the City that’s no problem. Genesis make quality cars and this looks like it matches that standard. The cost of putting one on the road puts it out of reach of many. The camera based ride adjustment sounds superb. Handling and performance seem excellent. I’m unsure about the rear vision cameras, and don’t think they appeal to me. Servicing? Hmmm, I drive a Tesla so wonder what that’s about? Free for five years is good though. Thank you for another excellent review, informative as always, and this looks like an interesting car.
Good review Mat. Two concerns thou...The silver finish atop the A-pillar looks incredibly misaligned (2:21) next to the windscreen and those camera 'mirrors' would be insanely expensive to replace..Put it this way, my wife had to replace her exterior mirror on her Haval Jolion..all up cost was $879 for parts/labour..I'm reckoning at least $3-4k for one on the GV60..
I broke a Hyundai kona side mirror, it was a rental while my car got hit. Now the dealer said to replace it would cost $1200, it was a basic mirror with electric adjustments. luckily I was able to buy a second hand for 320 from a wrecker. crazy
The numbers simply don't add up: You can't have 1. a WLTP range of 470-466km (13:30) 2. a 77.4 kWh battery (13:50) and; 3 .WLTP usage of 18.8 / 19.1 kWh per 100 km (19:30) At the same time - even using the full 77.4 kWh - 18.8 kWh per 100 = 411km, 19.1 kWh per 100 = 405km. A 77.4kWh battery has max 75 kWh usable - then these become 398 and 392km respectively, or alternatively you would need to average 15.9-16.1 kWh per 100 to get 470-466km. Someone is fudging something somewhere
Well pointed out. Also, NMC chemistry means you should only be using the 10 to 80% battery sector most of the time to reduce degradation. WLTP should, by law IMO quote an 80% charge range as well on this chemistry.
I like the little quirks inside the GV60 like that rotating glass sphere shifter. Genesis is a real luxury brand offering servicing features like car pickup and loaner rental(the Germans dont give you that), its a tech filled luxury car. On a unrelated note can someone tell me how digital mirrors are better than traditional glass OVRMS?
I was hesitant about the cameras instead of the mirrors but it took me about 2 hours of driving to get used to them. As they are electronic, they have lane change spacing and warnings on the screen which you can't get on a mirror.
@@philippayne2443 I bet they're not cheap either! You wouldn't want a cyclist or motorbike riding past knocking it off (especially when they lane filter). They seem like a bit of a gimmick to me, they've tried to solve a problem that doesn't exist. Not sure why manufacturers are going down that road.
At twice the price and a smaller boot than my Atto 3 I can not see the value. Sure the quality of Genesis and customer care is A1 but that NMC battery charged to the recommended 80% charge will be lucky to do 320km on the highway. The Seal Performance is 0.2 seconds faster at $69k and the MG4 performance AWD also does 0-100kph in 3.8 seconds and the boot is nearly as big but costs $60k.
Would like LESS tech - that can go wrong, expensive to insure and mostly not needed. How many motors in a seat. really! Nice that there is a few 'hands' controls to prevent squinting down at a sun-kissed touch screen just to de-fog the windows while doing 100k.
I’m getting so frustrated with the car market right now. All of this so called technology is mostly BS. It will all eventually breakdown because let’s face it the are stuffed with a million computer modules. None of which is needed for day to day driving. Cars are not good at being cars now. No body needs a billion computer modules to run a car. I’m the one who ends up fixing the stupid things when they go wrong which most modern cars do. Without a dealer level scan tool which costs a fortune I cannot work on newer cars.

Hasn’t Hyundai just pulled Genesis out of the UK market, and US sales have also plummeted? Feels like Infiniti take two…
No, Hyundai has not pulled Genesis it of the UK market
I have charged my ev 6 at Sutton's Forrest at 350Kw

Indeed, with these sophisticated electric vehicles should something go wrong whilst you are in the middle of a remote place you are totally stuffed. 😢
White steering. That’ll discolour in a few weeks.
Another EV Yawn. Blackout Bowen will be pleased no one else will be.
