Through Tite Kubo’s official fanclub we have some much needed answers about the state of Zangetsu at the end of the series. A lot of us were left confused after seeing Ichigo’s Zanpakuto during the recent New Breathes From Hell chapter, wondering what happened to his Dual Blade Zanpakuto. Bleach has an unspoken rule where the Stronger you are the more mysterious/complicated your Zanpakuto becomes. For example Kenpachi Zaraki, Ichigo and even Shunsui's 2nd Spirit to some extent.
Shunsui's 2nd spirit was explained already during the TYBW- to contain the sword of his Niece's family weapon.
@@AngelKnightZeo713 Kenpachi's and Ichigo's Spirits were also explained by Kubo in Klub Outside. My point is that those needed some kind of Explanations and are exceptional rule benders.
Shunsui's one was a stretch, I'll admit it. I just gave him as one more example to strengthen my point since all three of these Soul Reapers are anomalies but yeah, Kenpachi's and Ichigo's Zanpakutoes were a Mystery for Over 5 years.

If I had the choice to choose the shape of my weapon, I'd want to keep it the way I'd been using it and training with it before. That's probably Ichigo's thinking, if he's aware he has that kind of control over it.

Than why did he separate his Shinigami and Quincy powers to begin with? Nimaiya was forging a single blade and Ichigo changed it to two blades

@@quincyquincy4764 I think it's because a hollows power is poison to a quincy and so for ichigo to have access to all his powers in complete harmony he would have to separate them and because his shinigami powers and hollow powers are one in the same merging them is a no go, I think it's also why when his powers do become disrupted he enters his new hollow form.
I hope in the new Hell Arc will expand in his sword and see it transform from dual to single like kubo says he can.

I have been thinking that the Hogyoku might be really an artificial soul king heart. If you think about it, it has the same abilities as "The Miracle" granting the desires and feelings of a person.
Yeah it is , because aizen used rangiku's soul king part which is a nail to create Hogyoku . It's not the only thing that he used but it was one of the thing that aizen used to create his incomplete Hogyoku . We don't know anything about urahara's one .
In CFYOW novels it is said that Soul King pieces that the fullbringers have works similar to hogyoku.

Ichigo can't lose being a quincy, he was born one. The only way he could lose his quincy powers is by dying. As for his hollow and shinigami powers, they are fused, lose one lose the other so he didn't lose anything when Yhwach drained him, well he did lose a lot of his spirit energy but not his powers or heritages.

Fullbring is the ability to bring out the souls of items and use said items as weapons, most of the time they use a item that they are close to. Hence the badge. Ginjo did indeed take the soul .(Quincies can even destroy people's bodies to power their attacks , their attacks use spirit energy so they can turn anything into spirit energy but destroy or transform the person or items into energy to power their attacks.) So GInjo most likely just drained the badge of the energy it had and the energy it built. But when Ichigo got his powers back via Rukia his attire changed to resemble his fullbring , same with his bankai.
His fullbring transferred over to the rest of his powers despite being taken. So his Shinigami powers changed with his fullbring and his shinigami powers has a hollow nature as base and we know that old man Zangestu suppressed that power to its upmost. So we can guess that Ichigo's powers started returning before GInjo arrival to the story but was suppressed to the point where he (could be considered just a normal human)would have been ignored during the upcoming thousand year blood war as a civilian if Rukia never gave him his power back. So he was training control over his powers during fullbring arc and during that arc he learned control and his powers grew as well despite being suppressed by the his quincy nature. So when Rukai gave him back his powers his Shinigami powers had a chance to break old man Zangetsu's hold for a few seconds and manifest again before the most of the power was sealed again only to later be released during the TYBW.
Short answer would be his powers started returning, was suppressed, grew and changed despite being suppressed and then incorporated his fullbring as part of the normal getup after getting his powers back.

No, his fullbring basically was his combat badge absorbing his soul reaper/hollow powers which is what Ginjo stole. All Ichigo did was use the powers contained in the badge, once a full born soul reaper there was no need to do so anymore.

No. Ywach can revoke the power of any Quincy he chooses. He revoked the powers of the "impure" Quincy, which is how Masaki died when Grand Fisher attacked: she could not manifest her powers. Those who are killed in this event have a lump of silver form in their heart.
But as Ichigo had latent powers and was not actively using them nor was he a trained Quincy, he was overlooked by this purge.
But Ichigo's case is infinitely more unique. Due to how his mother was made "impure" by being infected by the hollow White and then having her spirit bound by a Soul Reaper to halt the hollowfication, he received all of those powers when he was born. He has the ability to harden himself and absorb reishi, powers derived from the Quincy. He has the powers and abilities of his Shinigami heritage of the Shiba clan, and he has the unique intrinsic abilities afforded to him by the hollow White which further increases his durability, speed, and combat prowess.
The powers and abilities are indeed merged together when Ichigo learns how to use the technique Fullbring, which works by bringing out the Soul of an object that grants them power. To say that a Fullbringer's abilities are tied to their Fullbring is somewhat narrow. Their Fullbring is the object they have the deepest connection to that grants them their unique abilities. The ability of Fullbring itself is the manipulation of the "Soul" of an object, whether it be solid, liquid, or gas. This is how we see Fullbringers walks on air or water.
I think Kubo is trying to say is Ichigo has complete control of all his power and only Ichigo can decide what shape his sword should take. Also Kubo relying on the fact that the Shinigamis and their swords are the same.
Something that I think got left out which might be a part of the Zanbakto and scabbard thing as well as Ichigo choosing to not have it got back to its true form is when Isshin said when he appeared that when a soul reaper reaches the strength level of a Captain they can control the size of their zanbakto, I think these things go hand in hand with Ichigo making the choice.
So by the looks and sound of it, in the hell arc, the blade that Ichigo is wielding is Zangetsu in its sealed base state (this state doesn’t have a scabbard as Kubo puts it). The dual blades is his shikai, which is now Zangetsus released (or as Kubo puts it, correct) form. Then the Bankai (which was so terrifying to Juha that he had to change its future) is the FUSED shinigami, hollow (blade scabbard) and quincy(blade) powers.
For some reason, that actually makes a whole lot more sense. Ichigo is a literal anomaly in the spirit realm. A being that can cross the realms of the hollow, Quincy and soul reaper simultaneously. Such anomaly’s usually have a close relation to the soul king, who was the stabilizer and embodiment of all spiritual beings....the only living thing able to keep the Quincy, Hollow, Soul Reaper and Human realm in the balance....sound familiar.
At this point whatever Ichigo is capable of is only applicable to him. No one possesses the latent abilities that he does.
Personally, hopefully as the manga goes on, we will at some point be able to see how powerful his bankai is.

No, Ichigo has no base/sealed sword. The dual blades and the single blade are both his shikai. Ichigo can freely choose to dual wield or not.
well,I actually have a theory
at the time ichigo uses his what we call true bankai to defeat yhwach, he hasn't trained to fully control his power yet thats why it might be that his powers wasn't at its fullest from this moment
it is said by byakuya that it takes a long time to master your bankai which is currently ichigo at that time with his battle with ywach was trying to find our of it at the time...
Zanpakuto also consist of base form to shikai and to bankai... base was a sword with its scabbard
when the two blades was unleashed and when was ichigo goes to society to the rescue we can see that both sword has its own scabbard but breaks through when he unsheated them that might symbolised that its not a base form but was a shikai.
about his bankai,hichigo zanpakuto turned white and was combined with the old man zangetsu making it one blade. as i said earlier ichigo was still trying to find out his power and bankai takes time to be mastered.the true bankai we call might be his true bankai at that time but wasn't really the true and final bankai we know and could be just a incomplete form of shikai that which was combined that means he has a two shikai... the one being the dual and the one being the bankai we know which wasn't complete.this bankai also has a chain which is the reason its name was tensa zangetsu, tensa means heavenly chained.. this form could be the pushed power of ichigo as it is what he only can at that time resulting a incomplete bankai or another form of shikai with the chain as ichigo is pushing his self to achieve his very bankai..
later on yhwach cuts the bankai of ichigo and absorbs ichigo's quincy and hollow power,was fixed later on while the white shell of this so called true bankai was slowly breaking and falling apart due to ichigo's power being absorb by ywach that means ichigo might be in his particularly base form, absorption doesn't mean he lose his heritage and it just means that like a battery, ichigo was drained out at the moment causing the sword to break and slowly fall apart... the final blow ichigo did on yhwach while the sword is falling apart reveals the og shikai of ichigo but with a longer handle and as i think about it i can say...
this might symbolized that ichigo being drained out cant fully use his so called bankai revealing his base sword as his was at his based level... this sword could also mean that both hichigo and old man fused as one as a base form that similar to the og shikai bur with longer handle..

we saw ichigo using the same sword he used to cut yhwach but it has the white bandages that acts as a scabbard as the sword and sheath is the base form

-ichigo base form is like OG shikai but with longer handle and bandage that also acts as a scabbard... the bandages might also be his fullbring that will transform into armor when shikai is activated
-ichigo shikai has 2 forms
1.the dual blade, hichigo and old man
2.the bankai he used in yhwach but was intact, doesn't have the base sword inside for it was complete, and doest have a chain
-his final and very true bankai might be finally shown in the NO BREATHES FROM HELL manga... maybe resembles like the og Bankai or Fullbring bankai but with horns, long hair or black hair, a long guard bankai sword which is black and white, and he might resemble his look in BS fifth anniversary but who really knows other than kubo himself?

I’d like to put it out there that it’s been a good 10 years since the TYBW which means that a lot of characters have mastered their Bankai including Ichigo
I am so confused...After reading the TYBA I am not sure how powerful Ichigo really is. Does anyone know or is it showcased anywhere? I mean It seems like he just got a massive power up but at the same time I have nothing to compare him to really understand just where he is at.
@@kylelouthan4759 I’d say it’s more pure speculation of how strong he was now having access to the full reverse of his power and complete balance in his inner world of day he’s up there with the strongest seeing as a lot of the feats of the series he was being weakened by the Quincy side of his powers

Now with a true zanpakuto the sword is also in its true base form, with the duel wield state being the Shikai and returning to the scabbard is naturally the Bankai state
Ichigo can naturally use all three forms now
Kubo did answer this, the 2 swords that ichigo has are not actually 2 swords but 1 real sword "the small one" and the scabbard "the big one" he transformed his scabbard into a sword by pouring all his fullbring powers into it (hollow/shinigami). His normal shikai is still that one huge sword, the old shikai but he can now seprate it into 2 sword, the Quincy blade and the fullbring scabbard. He has no sealed state. His bankai's ability is a secret and might never get revealed.
Also, the white part that came off his bankai during the final attack was actuall the seat. Aka he NEVER unseated his sword in bankai until the last strike, btw the white part yhwach broke off instantly went back into ichigo's body so he did not lose any power during the swing.

@@kurosakiichigo3093 It seems like it's implying that Bankai in that impure state was necessary to "unsheathe" the True Zangetsu, which happened when Yhwach broke it. From there, Ichigo reabsorbed the powers that were locked in the sheathe, which to me, says that he was straight up knocked out of Bankai (just like Goku gets the Super Saiyan knocked out of him sometimes).
So no, we haven't seen his true Bankai yet. And it seems like Kubo has actually been deliberate about keeping it a secret, possibly because it's really hard to come up with something good enough to fit all the hype built up around it. I mean, the dude who killed God was terrified of it. What could it possibly be other than Deus Ex Mystery? Either that or he has something stellar planned and has been waiting for a chance to reveal it with his own story.
@@CinJyxxe his dual Zanpakto is the Shikai. It has a sheathe and a blade. It just so happens that the second blade is a sheathe. The true bankai is exactly as it was shown. The white was the sheathe and the inner blade the true bankai. Both are true.
@@babaG819 Damn you're right, that makes so much sense. So his original one (and the one seen in the 10YA manga) is basically just his completely sealed Zanpakuto then.
I accept this answer. It’s kinda like goku and all of his forms. He chooses whichever form suits the mood; doesn’t need to go all out in every battle. He doesn’t need to go dual blade if he doesn’t want to. And I accept that because we’ve truly seen ichigo grow throughout the years. He’s matured.
I kinda wish Kubo had simply given Ichigo a proper, classic Asauchi Zanpakuto (katana) and sheath for base, maybe one that resembled his original Bankai blade. Then it splits apart for shikai (the sheath becoming the second blade) and reforms into a single giant sword for Bankai.
seriously, it just feels so needlessly complicated. I still haven't heard a good explanation that really satisfies me as to whats going on and why his swords are the way they are. Like some people say he's never really used bankai and some don't. just feels like nothing lines up correctly.
The fact he could change how his zanpakuto is kind of like how quincys can go through different types of bows if I remembered correctly it’s the Quincy cross pendent that allows them to do so, this could just be Ichigo having more of an understanding of his Quincy powers (all speculation) if I am wrong with some points here sorry it’s been a while since I’ve fully read bleach.

It's been 5 months since this video but I want to offer another addition to this.
"Your blade was never broken."
The statement from Tsukishima invalidates not just the breaking of Tensa Zangetsu at their Penultimate fight. It invalidated the breaking of Tensa Zangetsu in the first assault at the start of the Thousand Year Blood War arc.
That's why when Juhabach tries to shatter the bankai again, he breaks the form he knows is there but failed to break the True Zangetsu that he would have thought was already broken.
It fits with Kubo's statement that Ichigo can switch back and forth between the two Shikai forms as the True Zangetsu would be the form that Ichigo would be most familiar with which is his original Shikai.

Not only does Ichigo have Quincy, Hollow, and Shinigami - he has Human power. Remember all powers balanced and cancelled each other out and that was explained in the final arc. Ichigo created the perfect hybrid of all powers - and it should elevate him to another plane. It helped explain his powers from Final Getsuga Tenshou as well and why Aizen was so interested in him.

I think the merged form of Tensa Zangetsu is True Zangetsu. That was the spirit that taught him the final getsuga tensho. We didn't realize it at the time but that was all of his powers combined. Before they fused, they told Ichigo that they are one. After they fused, they told him ordinarily the two of them make one because they're both his power. Also, when Ichigo was learning to control his hollow powers, Zangetsu told Ichigo that OMZ and him have always been one and they share the same body. I think Merged Tensa Zangetsu was formed again when he went bankai and now Ichigo can separate the two spirits/powers if he wants but I think it's better to have both of them merged as one.
With this revelation, it reminds me of the sword, Excalibur, and its scabbard from Arthurian legends.
Both the sword and the scabbard have extraordinary powers. The sword, Excalibur, cannot be broken. But as long as King Arthur wore the scabbard, he cannot bleed. That ability that Excalibur's scabbard grants is very similar to Ichigo's Blut Vene ability. I guess, in a way, White is like Excalibur, and the Old Man is like the scabbard.
To make this analogy even MORE interesting, White also refers to Ichigo as "King."

i rly don't get why people are confused by this. I just think that the dual zangetsu is not his shikai, it's just a normal sealed zanpakuto. When Ichigo uses bankai, now that's actually his shikai, but Ichigo didn't realize it. So if this is true, that means we still haven't seen Ichigo's true power.

This still seems really weird, since his Shikai and Bankai look so similar now, one could reasonably wonder if his Zanpakuto is permanently in Bankai now.
CFYOW reveals that anyone who had their powers taken by Yhwach, that survived, gained them back after his death.
Only powers that they innately possessed. All Schrifts disappeared with Yhwach's death, as they were originally gifts/parts of himself that he gave to the Sternritter.

@@johngona5929 Yes. Any/All of the Schrifts were "Gifts" from Yhwach. Barring extenuating circumstances, all powers/abilities cease to exist and/or disappear after the death of the user.
the one thing that i don't understand is the seemingly minimal differences between his og shikai and his new true shattered bankai. obviously there is a significant power difference, but the sword looks so similar that i think it causes a lot of confusion for people, including myself
At first I thought ichigo was the next shinigami to get a dual zanpakutou after shunsui and ukitake, and I'm kinda sad that it really isn't a dual wield zanpakutou but at the same time this way is way more complex. Very interesting and another reason why I love bleach and kubo just like jjba.
Now knowing what this form means, its pretty logic for Ichigo to use it because he’s familiar with the handeling. Now the only question what are his abilities and we will be up to date.
Here is a thought- the cloth on shikai Zangetsu acts as a scabbard when the blade is on his back and as seen when White showed Ichigo the first time they met, can be used for ranged attacks. So i guess the white cloth on the handle could be Quincy part of his abilities.

I honestly think if Ichigo had 2 blades similar to the bankai he had before, and if put together made a bow to shoot ceros, that would have been a cooler bankai. I really like his bankai from before more than now.

I think we are still about to see the true form of Ichigo's shinigami zanpakuto. I believe the first form of Ichigo's true zanpakuto is the same as the final form. The first form is actually the bankai of the final form without the scabbard, his quincy power. In TYBW, true zangetsu, White Zangetsu failed to manifest its true form because Ichigo chose to include Old Man Zangetsu (OMZ), his quincy power to the asauchi. This results into White Zangetsu relinquishing the blade part of the asauchi to OMZ resulting into a dual wield form. It would be interesting to see the White Zangetsu' true zanpakuto form.

I always thought of it as since a broken bankai cannot be restored unless reforged, ichigo would just be permanently stuck with his bankai out which ironically looks identical to his original shikai. But that apparently isnt the case
the most logical ..
In other words, if he wants to, ichigo's bankais and shikai can basically look exactly the same because the true bankai form after it is shattered by Yhwach is basically his reaper/hollow power form plus whatever inner quincy power he wants to use. He can use his quincy powers as a sheath or he can keep it within him and use it anyways. He's just choosing not to give the quincy power a form atm because he prefers it.
I honestly liked and preferred his nodachi bankai
It was subtle and represented that unlike all the other bankai, Ichi go himself is the weapon, not the zanpakto

I hope the animated version of tybw gets the life it deserves. I'm not mad at the Manga version cause Kubo was really workin despite the adversity against him which forced him to rush the final arc. So I hope the anime gets fleshed out
Yhwach couldn't take away Ichigo's Quincy and Hollow Powers in the first place. They're built into his being. Literally speaking, Ichigo is a Hollowfied Quincy with Shinigami Powers granted by his Inner Hollow. All Yhwach did was drain them. In some of the post-ending Light Novels, it was revealed that eventually, his Hollow and Quincy Powers "recharged" so to speak.
As for this explanation, I feel kinda "eh" about it. It could be as Kubo said, but it could also just be his way of saying "I like drawing it the old way, and find that to be easier." And that's fine, honestly.

Mayuri has a built in self destruct feature that reverts it back to its sealed state which he uses to release iSzayelaporro's control. Because Ichigos shikai exists in a dual state when his bankai is destroyed much like Mayuri’s bankai “self destruct” feature it reverts back to its previous form, except unlike Mayuri whose due scientific modifications, Ichigos is due to the dual nature of his sealed sword existing within its sealed scabbard
This is helpful in learning about his zanpaktou and it's forms. But I still wanna know what Ichigo can do now and especially what his new bankai does. We know he's very fast and can use grand rey cero, but that's it. Can't help but feel cheated in that scene. Atleast give Ichigo and chance to show what he can do first before breaking his sword 😭. But after hearing about the hell arc and that the anime will expand upon some things gives me some hope.
I love that kubo speaks of Ichigo as if he is alive. Kubo is a truly special person.

It makes sense that ichigo would choose not to return his shikai to the dual bladed state as he's fought every single battle with a single blade so it's what he's most comfortable using in combat
Thank you for the explanation, I was confused about how his blade turned back to its first form when yhwach broke it.
I like the theme of fusion, it makes it all the more fitting that Ichigo and his epic hybrid power defeated Yhwach who was madly obsessed with purity to the point of petty paranoia. It's also ironic that it almost led to Ichigo becoming the next Spirit King, a fate worse than death. We will be seeing more of Ichigo and his Zanpakuto as hell makes their presence known.
Yhwach technically died because of the blood of the Quincies who he deemed impure . This is irony .

As we all know, Ichigo got his Bankai "scabard" broken by Juha. SInce then he absorbed his quincy powers, choosing to stay in his "old shikai" form. In the hell arc chapter is Ichigo in his Bankai form (that was when Juha broke his scabard) or is his Shikai now similar to his Bankai in shape?
Or is it that he is a hybrid of sorts (quincy, soul reaper, hollow) the difference between Bankai and Shikai is minimal? Maybe, he might as well not need these forms as the evolution of his Zanpaktou is fully upgraded into one form(kinda like Nyimaya where his blade is the same all the time - one hit one kill)?

I like to think of his "old Shikai" blade as his new base/sealed state. With the dual wield as his Shikai, and his Bankai is the dual blades fused together. At least, that's how I like to interpret it.
Yeah I said the same thing. It seems like his shikai and bankai are the same shape and the only difference is the 10x boost to his base stats when in bankai. Which is cool I guess but it just lacks the creative design and narrative journey that other zanpakuto go thru as they transform like byakuya.

White who is the manifestation of Ichigo's shinigami/hollow powers as the name implies white and Old Man Zangetsu who mostly wore black and held back Ichigo's power

I'm thinking the same thing. Because people agree that in Bankai the white part is the Quincy, so that would mean the Quincy part is the white blade when he is in his HoS state.
He also goes HOS not only unleashing his Quincy powers but also is hollow powers to the fullest. Blut Vein is a defensive Quincy technique why would a sword turn white because of that, why would it happen on Ichigo's bigger sword when it was stated and shown his Shinigami powers were much greater, also the thing with reiatsu and size of Zanpakuto.

I like the idea that Ichigo chooses to have his sword look like that. I mean, he’s used to swinging around a big fat knife, and plus it also shows that to some degree, Soul Reapers can change how their Zanpakuto look.

2:04 When Ichigo goes Bankai the shorter (black) Quincy blade fuses with the (white) Hollow-Shinigami blade. Meaning when in Bankai 2:56 the Hollow Blade is the sheath. Because the sheath is white just like the Hollow Blade. So shouldn't the inner black part, the "True Zangetsu" be the Quincy Blade?

The white sword might be the Quincy honestly. Problem is, he did a cero by combining the horn and the white sword.

His longer blade that represents his Hollow-Shinigami blade only became white because he channelled Quincy reiatsu into it to achieve his HoS form by disrupting the balance between his powers. The quincy reiatsu is the reason why Blut Vene appeared all over his blade. At the end of the day, it still technically represents his Hollow-Shinigami form but its just channelling quincy reiatsu for the time being as to allow Ichigo to use his HoS form.
And then Yhwach snaps his horn, cancelling Ichigo's HoS form and negating the need for him to channel quincy reatsu through his longer blade. Then Ichigo goes bankai which is the true form of all his powers. The scabbard being the quincy part of his powers and the black part being his hollow-shinigami powers.
Love the dual wield. The smaller blade looks like a Wing Chun butterfly knife.
Quincy powers being manifested into a Zanpakuto may take power away from Ichigo's physical form to give his weapon a boost. Perhaps he decided to retain that strength within himself and learn to better utilize it. Or he could be saving it as a trump card.
I think Ichigo's bankai allows his blade to change forms whenever it breaks being unable to be destroyed by the former method used to break it
Given how much experience he has wielding a single, massive sword, it would honestly be way out of his element to just start learning dual-wielding when he already has a familiar style that had worked countless times for him in the past.
But now I'm wondering what would his Bankai look like now.
I mean if the Tensa Zangetsu we saw during Ichigo's final clash with Ywach was simply meant to reveal Ichigo's "true Zanpakuto", does that mean that he would still be using that Bankai for the rest of his battles? Or would he still use the Katana version of his Bankai?
I could be horrendously wrong, but if someone would care to clarify, it'd be great.

So now Ichigo is now walking around in permanent supercharged bankai form. Nice~
I had a long running theory that Ichigo never had a real Bankai. When Ichigo first unlocks Bankai against Byakuya, he finds it odd cause it doesnt behave like one. It's like Ichigo absorbs most of his blade to his body to enhance his physical attributes, otherwise his abilities remain the same. That does prove the theory that his early Shikai form with the cleaver Zangetsu was an imitation of his real Bankai all along.
Ichigo's true Shikai is the dual bladed form, and the cleaver form is the Bankai! From there on, he probably has the option to transfer more reiatsu to the blade to cover it in the white shell form for some godly destructive power or to absorb more of the blade to regain the original Tensa Zangetsu form to gain incredible stamina, speed and defense.
When they revealed that white ichigo was his actual zanpaktou spirit, instantly made me think of the vizords. It would be interesting to see if their zanpaktou merged with their hollow power to change or enhance them

Well the way i understand it there are two or three options in my head. What we see in Hell Arc is Ichigo just casually being in his bankai state all the time, which sounds unlikely. The second option is that Ichigo can choose whatever his sword looks like and it makes sense he would use his old Shikai since he is most familiar with it. But then it becomes confusing because what would his bankai look like now ?
Or maybe he finally learned to seal his sword into its base state instead of being in Shikai all the time, so what we see in Hell Arc is his base and he has the TYBW shikai + bankai.

so, of what I understood:
the dual blade is the "CORRECT FORM"
the bancai provides the "SCABBARD"
and after the "SCABBARD" shattered we have the "TRUE ZANGETSU"
and that if ichigo wants he can split it into two parts again
so that means that the "CORRECT FORM" and the "TRUE ZANGETSU" are the same, thus being the shikai form (which is the most powerful so far). And that the bancai is just a transition phase to go from dual blades to single blade?
Because if U think of it the scabbard actually weakens the blade, U need to draw the sword from it so it can function properly. In this case the bancai is a weaker form until the SCABBARD is destroyed or the sword is drawn from it,
which raise another topic, which is that the dual blade is more powerful than the finale single blade (without scabbard), with the first one containing hollow + Shinigami + quincy, when the latter only has the Shinigami + hollow (because the quincy scabbard got destroyed and absorbed by ichigo).

The scabbard of Tensa Zangetsu can be used offensively and defensively against an opponent. However, should Ichigo choose to draw out his true blade, he can let the scabbard break and it will return to him, or have it on his back, should he ever need it again.

So the shikai has the long, white sword (his Shinigami/Hollow powers) as his scabbard and the short, black sword (his Quincy powers) as his blade. Then the bankai swaps them, making the white scabbard represent his Quincy powers, and the black blade represent his Shinigami/Hollow powers. If that's the case, it's like they're taking turns being the scabbard and the blade, similar to how Old Man Zangetsu and White took turns teaching Ichigo.
I'm late, but would have preferred Tsukushima's meddling around in Ichigo's memories would have lead to the state of Zangetsu to stay physically stuck as one blade.

Okay so kinda makes sense... The quincy scabbard is kinda like a "riatsu" formation. Also the chain on the hilt and scabbard kinda has some symbolism there too... How his powers are chained together. But what i wanna know is what happened to the Young Tensa Zangetsu... And also kinda feel like THAT is his actual soul reaper power form...
So you have White Zangetsu (hollow), Old Man Zangetsu (quincy), and then Tensa Zangetsu (soul reaper).
I feel like we need a combo of the three and we dont really get that.
But i also really like the Tensa Zangetsu form and kinda feel like it was definitely an upgrade from the shikai "kitchen knife" form so going back to that as a BANKAI!?! Is kinda lame/cop out 😅

So then if the "white shell" broke, and that shell was the scabbard. Does that mean it's incomplete now? Also it would be interesting if he could basically shape change his zanpakto to fit the situation of the fight. I always loved the way white ichigo used the sword, and I can't even imagine the crazy shiz he could do with a shape changing blade
No because kubo said he absorbed it, I imagine his old shikai in the hell arc is just his shinigami powers and the rest he isn’t using. That way he isn’t affecting the world and can still live in it.
