This is a new thing, I may continue it, I may not. Opinions are welcome.
Editing is rough, but I'm learning.
Couldn’t have said it better ourselves! Great video!
I got bored with 5e, and went to Pathfinder. Love it.
Gave Mork Borg a try, and while it's even more simple than 5e, and not likely very good for extended campaigns, it's honestly the most fun we've have in a very long time! I absolutely love this simple game. (But only for one shots, really)
Hey Notepad Anon, i have recently gone through Degenesis, another RPG with a heavy focus on aesthetics, however it is more developed. Do you have any opinions on it?
It's on one of my "To-Do" Lists, though I've been debating on "how" to do it more than anything.
Your first character lasted less than this 1 minute review, got it.
really digging this new format
I'd be interested in your take on Heart: The City Beneath.
I've run it twice. Evocative concepts, but a narrow conflict resolution system, an intentionally narrow play experience (die in 8-10 sessions), but a "make it your own Heart" ethos conflict within me as GM.
They have a section on GMing where they say, "don't plan," but to make the game component of their product work, the GM has to either know the rules really well (aka, study and plan) to do a shit ton of ad hoc work giving items, generating delves and npcs on the fly--but they still need to know their pcs stats, abilities, power up conditions, goals, etc and how to make these things vibe off each other.
I've heard of this one before, never seen it floating around though. I'll look into it.
MB is pure style over substance. A glorified fashion accessory for those who see TTRPG as an aesthetic/fashion.
it's not an OSR game second, it's an OSR game not at all
man i was at an expo and a woman looked at someoone's stuff and it was a bare bones system, no art etc. and she said she isn't into it. the lady who made the game asked her whats shes into and the woman replied "oh... im into aesthetics"
My first introduction to Mork Borg was the Hell Slayer RPG. A guy I knew backed the kickstarter and was trying to get a group together.
He sent me a PDF of the rules and… I quietly cut ties with him shortly afterwards. Because I don’t think I have ever seen a more shameless and dishonest bait and switch. And if the system is typical of Mork Borg games then being a fan is a good way to get yourself kicked out of my table…. I don’t have time for nihilistic brats forgetting that art and entertainment are supposed to occasionally let you escape our miserable world for a moment.
I've known people who hate D&D who love Mork Borg.
It's like saying 'I know you don't like sports...but did you ever play Frisbee Golf?'
It is not a game, it's an art project for pretentious people pretending to play pretend.
Something something "but that's tabletop gaming".
