I really enjoyed this and I miss you posting more :) ~Stay safe Jean
Love this demonstration and such good advice
Great to see that you are safe and well and very excited to give this idea a go 👍
Amazing how fast you ended up with a snowy landscape!
So glad you're back Jean, I've missed you and your tutorials
How interesting and beautiful as usual. I'm so delighted to see a new tutorial. You had me worried you weren't doing any more RUclips videos. Maybe a new class to purchase will come along in the future. Loved the doodle. This wide format is great.
Thank you,
Kathy

Unbelievable, how you can make something so beautiful with so little material! I still need a lot of practice for that, but I'm looking forward to it. Thank you Jean!
🤗😊
You are the best teacher! Very kind and helpful! I always love your painting style.
Looks easy made by you. I really like these landscapes that have a relaxing effect on me. Thanks!
Jean- i do love your free and easy approach. Wish you did more watercolor videos.
Thanks,
Diana
Your “doodle” is beautiful! Framable and inspiring! Thank you.
Yes, I’ve missed you Jean, hope all is well with you and your loved ones. I LOVE your work 😊
Thanks for sharing Jean. Your 'doodle' is a masterpiece to me 😍
Beautiful in all it’s simplicity. Thank you for sharing.
Love it- love your style!
I have also done some pieces and once done thought "why didn't I do them in a different format?". Thanks for the reminder to have that thought before starting. Love your teaching style.
I love how that turned out! So good to see you again. Thank you for the video.
Love, love, love. Thank you so much for another inspiring video.
I love unusual formats. You can add so much more expression by chosing the right one - and reducing it also by chosing the wrong one... :-P
I like your color choice with this painting. I see a beach with a clouded sky, no snow here, sorry @SJL.
(And I agree with the being carried away...)
Thanks alot for sharing this work.
Love this Jean. You always make it look so easy. I look forward to your postings also.
Such a fantastic videos! So glad I found your channel.
Absolutely loved it so simple but stunning.
I have gotten in a habit of watching at least one of your videos every day. It really can't hurt to watch multiple times, right?!? Especially when one is a beginner! I was wondering if you have ever tried working with some of the other DS Primatek paints such as Green Apatite Genuine, Jadeite Genuine, Piemontite Genuine, Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Genuine, Purpurite Genuine (esp given that you have mentioned you like the WN Permanent Mauve), and Sedona Genuine (as a Burnt Sienna alternative possibly)? I love the granulation of most of the Primatek paints. No such thing as too much of a good thing in that case. Thanks again for sharing your work! Cheers from New Orleans.
I do have some of the colors you mention. Maybe I don't use them often enough. Will give it some thought.
Jean I love this! Thank you!

😯 your paintings are impressive. 😯 i love your input. I believe it has expanded my view on colors. I can start with format in thumbnails which I’m doing for value studies because I have to learn that better. I’m attracted to an 8x8 sketchbook also because it’s different than the usual rectangle that I sketch in.
Thank you for your response Jean.
Hi There missed your beautiful voice as well as your fantastic tutorials xx
Great tutorial and advice as always!
Super!
Yes Jean, format makes a difference. Thanks for reminding me with this simple but effective landscape. I have permanent brown, but seldom use it. It gets too reddish so quickly, but you inspired me to give it a second chance! Hope you are allright in this ongoing pandemic!
💗
Love this! How do you keep your paper without buckling? I see you posted you use 140 lb paper, as do I, but mine buckles unless I tape it down
I do tape down 140lb paper unless I am painting on a smallish piece.
Just great. THANKYOU. Are these acrylic inks or watercolour. P,ease
I used watercolors and sepia acrylic ink for the dark lines.
How do you find frames to fit odd sizes like this? Or do you have them custom made?
Jean, this is a bit off topic but I know you have used granulation medium in much of your work. I just found out that Winsor-Newton has discontinued their product and I'm wondering what alternatives there may be that would produce the same effect.
Hi Kathy. To a certain extent water will work with granulating paint and acrylic inks.
@@JeanLurssen I guess water will have to do for now. Have you ever come across a recipe for a homemade formula?
👏
Well I did three of these today but they are a little scary. I’m using Arches hot press....what do you use?... because I can’t seem to get the ink to make the little bulbs like you did. Thank you Jean
HI June. I also use Arches hot pressed paper. It's my favorite paper.
@@JeanLurssen
Thank you I guess I just need to keep practicing. My third one doesn’t look too bad I did it on Fluid 100 Hot press watercolor paper.
Can you please tell us the brand of the palette you are using in this video? Thank you
Hi Savanna. That palette is not available in my store right now but this one is similar amzn.to/3qotdVH Hope this helps.
I am tempted by Blue Apatite Genuine.....but am put off by the way Green Apatite Genuine separates into ugly brown speckles......does the blue behave in the same way?
I have not experience brown speckles in either of these colors Anne.
Love watching your demos, such an inspiration! Do you live in SA? I spent many years in Cape Town.
How do you frame a format like this?
You would have to have a frame made for the size.
@@JeanLurssen right. Using standard sizes is cheaper. I made the comment before the end. You use these more as exercises and not necessarily a finished painting?
@@catherinepaquet1346 I do paint non-standard size paintings also. It's a personal choice whether to do a painting that would require a non-standard frame. I personally like to select unusual sizes sometimes, depending on the subject.
