  • How I connected amps to my OEM head unit.
    I had to edit a lot out to keep within a certain time frame. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
    Also, I had to edit this on my iPhone and couldn't provide all the links. I'll put them in the comments.

    So I'm only using one set of RCA cabels from the front speakers to the amplifier for my sub. Haven't installed it yet. Should that work? Also how many watts are you running? Have you had any issues with your alternator or battery? And I do have some questions about the bass knob and cup holder lights.

    • @suprola7961
      @suprola7961  5 лет назад +1

      Spencer Bennion
      I would use the rear output instead of the front. Both will do the job, but your subs will most likely be in the trunk, so this would be more natural.
      I have replaced my battery with comparable Interstate battery, OEM alternator.
      I have roughly 2400 watts available, between the two amps.
      As far as the cup holder lights, they were purchased from accentleds.com
      You would need 2 sizes, 1@ 2-1/2” & 1@ 2-5/8”.
      The bass knob is from Kicker which is proprietary to their amplifiers. I took it apart and mounted the guts inside the dummy plug next to the trac control/vsc button.
      Follow me on Instagram, I can help you better there. @cdenton9

    Noob question. This will work if I’m only planning on using the front and back Rca hooked into my amp right? I’ll have everything hooked up like you have it, but everything but the two rcas will be hanging.

    • @suprola7961
      @suprola7961  6 лет назад +2

      HorizonsHere are you coming off your amplifier straight to your speakers? If so, you’ll have at least 8 wires not in use on the reverse set of harness.
      If your planning to reuse the factory wiring to your speakers, you’ll need to make the connections.

    • @HorizonFallen
      @HorizonFallen 6 лет назад +3

      Yeah I'm planning on coming off my amp to the head unit with the 2 sets of RCA's and connect to the harness rca adapter you have in the video. I purchased what I need from the 3 links you left.

      rickaz1093 had to watch the video again to answer your question. The OEM camera plugs into the Maestro. The Maestro harness provides a video output that you’ll plug into your aftermarket head unit.

    I know this is an older video, but did you reply the stock speaker wiring for the back and door speakers? I've heard the factory speaker wiring isn't good on most cars and was wondering if I should plan on rewiring all that shit while upgrading my speakers.

    • @suprola7961
      @suprola7961  4 года назад +1

      Adam Yarris i reused the factory wiring. It’s good stuff. 16 gauge stranded copper, probably ofc. I did eventually run new wires to the rear deck speakers though. Only because of the length, 3 feet versus 15 feet. And I was putting about 80 watts through the factory wiring.

    • @suprola7961
      @suprola7961  4 года назад +1

      Salman Asghar it sort of depends on what amp you’re going to use. some amps like kicker, have line level input or high-level input. In that case, you don’t even need LOC’s. The factory radio doesn’t put out much voltage, and probably not enough to damage whatever amp you use.
      I would convert my speaker outputs from the radio to straight RCA’s, run those to your amps and then bring the speaker outputs back from the amp.
      Basically letting your amps drive everything and your HU driving only the amps.
      I hope this all makes sense.

  • @spendous
    @spendous 6 лет назад

    So using this harness you just run the RCA cables to the back amps and then run speaker wires back up to the harness? Did you split the RCA in the back to run the sub?

    • @suprola7961
      @suprola7961  6 лет назад +1

      +spendous
      Yeah. I ran front and rear RCA’s to the amps. The rear channel goes into a 2 channel that has pass through and that jumps to the rear channel of my 4 channel amp. The front channel just goes to the 4 channel amp.
      I used speed wire or 9 wire to send the speaker outputs back to the factory harness.
      Just this weekend I eliminated the rear speaker wiring going back and forth and ran 16 gauge off the amps straight to the rear speakers.

      Yes, you can tap whichever channel you want to use with an RCA pigtail and then run signals to your amp setup.

    • @suprola7961
      @suprola7961  4 года назад +1

      Adam Johnson once you’ve made the T harness, you are no longer using the outputs off the headunit to drive the speakers. Your speakers will need to be connected to a 4-channel amp. The RCA’s that are now coming off of the headunit will control your front/rear/left/right fader. But the speakers will be powered from the amplifier at this point. Does this help?

      It really doesn’t matter where you put them, as long as there is adequate cooling. A lot of people mount them under the seats, but that’s not ideal since there is ducting under there.

    This is good but even better if you just get an amp with high level inputs. Then you dont have to fuck around with converting to RCA, you just run speaker wire to your amp and back up. Not sure why you make cutting the factory wiring sound like such a bigass deal. Just cut the speaker wires and reconnect them to your amp inputs/outputs and you dont need to buy a bunch of silly harnesses and find room to cram 2 feet of extra shit behind your dash.
