- They call themselves First Amendment Auditors and Citizen Journalists. They are on social media, they are in your face, and more people are doing it. Now, 50,000 state employees have been instructed how to respond.

Actually, public photography on a public sidewalk is very legal, the problem is office misconduct, ego and creating laws in their head while violating the rights of others during their very limited required training. These city employees often are simply revenue generators, issuing tickets, while barbers and hair stylists require considerably more hours of training plus a state license.

Auditors and news reporters both depend on the First Amendment and the Freedom of the Press. Yet, it's like they're trying to distance themselves from ordinary citizens in order to be on the cops' good side so they're not disrespected when filming. Those who know their rights will know that there's no difference between the two... at least in public places.
Auditors don't fight for anything but themselves and to make a quick buck. They stand for nothing.

I was simply just referencing the video in which they state a mass email was sent out to government employees most of which would be apart of the justice system since that email would only relate to them and their job. If auditing with rights violations has become a regular occurrence then something is not right with the current state of the justice system in general.

Nope. That's wrong. In many cases the settlement amount is much smaller than expenses of going the whole nine yards in court. They know their chances to get the jobless fraditor reimburse the expenses are slim to none. Any lawyer would first advise to settle, even with a clear win.
As for firing - cops are not one team, they are as human as the other guy. They just use it as a pretext to get rid of the worthless.

The only way that a good cop could get in trouble, when dealing with an auditor, is to not be a good cop. The law is the law, the constitution is the constitution, if the officer follows the law, they won't have anything to worry about. The problem is that cellphones with cameras and a place to post videos online haven't been around very long and these auditors are shining a light on police officers and their long standing behavior. I understand that the officers don't like being filmed when the break the law and trample on people's rights, but they got away with murder, literally, for too long and now the chickens are coming home to roost.

Officers who are afraid to be recorded, or violate people's constitutional rights, need to be recorded, investigated and held accountable.
this TV report was a hit job against the auditors. There are more officers than you think who make up their own laws and subject drivers to their fake laws. These auditors are simply exposing the unjust 1st Amendment overreach by the officers. If they officers stay within the boundaries of the law, they don't have to worry about losing their jobs, getting fired or anything else. EVERY PD must live within the law and the PD policies, not create new laws to suit their own agendas, which are sometimes way over the limit.

No provocation from the auditor, the auditor did explain calmly and articulately what he was doing and his rights, but he was totally ignored.. In the end he had to demand a supervisor who confirmed he was totally within his rights... Not an ounce of provocation from the auditor.. The female disappeared and refuse to come out and apologise or discuss the situation. She was disgusting and shocking.... no question.
I realise that there are poor auditors out there who do scream abuse at times, but honestly, I don't see much agro and no provocation from the auditors that I watch, it is always the other side that is prepared to violate rights to get their way regardless of the law. There is no thin grey camera shaped line, where if an "auditor" goes out and assaults someone, we all join in, and then create a smear campaign on their behalf to ensure he gets away with it. That's the big difference between auditors and cops. Our bad apples are handled the best we can by the community, and they aren't immune to the laws like cops are. I'm building a database of 1AA encounters. There are lots of (not anecdotal, but actual) occurrences where 1AA didn't fully prepare and were wrong about property lines and easements, so they ARE trespassing. That's a law. They broke it.
