F-14s try not to be the best proportioned ten wheelers ever constructed for standard gauge rails challenge (Impossible)
Some other fun facts about them that I forgot to mention in the video:
-F-14s produced steam so well that 35 of the 38 never received superheaters from the start to end of their service. The 3 that got them was merely an experiment, being redesignated to 'Fs-14'. But simply put, they literally didn't need superheaters, they were that good, lmao.
-With how short and light Trains 97 and 36 were, F-14s were capable of reaching incredible speeds of up to around 85 if you pushed them hard enough.
-Not only were they fast, but having around 31,000lbf of tractive effort gave you a lot of options too. Tests showed that they hardly noticed a 1-2% grade even when running at the speed limit instead of free-bird'ing.
-For a time, they were the largest ten wheelers in the country. That is, of course, until the Pennsy Ctrl+C & Ctrl+V'd an E6 boiler onto a 4-6-0 frame and stole the show.
-More of a rant, but F-14s were more than capable of jobs other than mail, but never got to do anything else throughout their lives. Lots of potential wasted, imo

    Why do we have hands?
    There are many Reasons:
    - Pat the F-14
    - Cherish the F-14
    - Forfeit all mortal possessions to the F-14

So far it's been my favorite route to run her on, very open and a very similar landscape and scenery to the lines that trains 97 and 36 ran on IRL. Very great job on the route

The East Tennessee & Western North Carolina, affectionately known as "The Tweetsie", was a most unusual line having both standard and narrow gauge lines on its system, which ran from Johnson City, Tennessee to Boone, North Carolina, a total of 65.3 miles, not including a 2.6 mile branch from Montezuma to Pineola. Although the standard gauge portion of the line survives to this day, the 3-foot gauge trackage was abandoned in 1950. As the train winds its way along 3-foot gauge line, we are guests in the caboose, and later on, in the cab of the little Baldwin engine. Winding through the Doe River Gorge, we're reminded of other narrow gauge lines much farther West - how lucky we are to have this record of this wonderful line. Although the narrow gauge portion of Tweetsie closed down in 1950, Engine number 12, Combine/Chair 15, and Excursion Car 11 are still in service as tourist hauler at Blowing Rock, North Carolina, also known as "The Tweetsie". As the Crew goes about their daily business, of setting out, picking up freight cars, and caring for the little Baldwin, we are treated to sights long forgotten in modern railroading. It is interesting to note from the company time table, dated October 15th 1883, that, quoting; "Through the gorge, and at all points where the rock or land slides are possible and in descending heavy grades trains must be kept under perfect control, and speeds must not exceed 6 miles per hour" end quote. And also the time table cautioned, "Trains must not under any circumstances run at a higher rate of speed than 15 miles per hour.". Have you ever seen a brakeman working his way over the tops of the cars with a brake club?

Amazing Cars, Amazing Engines, I strangely like the ET&WNC Schemes, they actually look like they were kind of made for the Railroad. Anyways, Great Pack all around!

Very nice work on the engine and consist!

I'm not trying to be silly or anything but where did you find those high quality F14 diagrams you used to make 1102 from?

Question? Is it out now or just still in the works? But I do love the work you did for the locomotive by far one of my favorite locomotives and what kind of whistles you use at 1:03 and at 10:09?

    • @thatredfokker
      @thatredfokker  6 месяцев назад +1

This project will never be released, it'd be a waste.
The first whistle is a standard Baldwin 3 chime (Not sure what size), second is a Southern top-lever 3 chime. (Also not sure of the specifics, but whatever it is, it's recorded off of Southern 401)
