My first experience was in dark souls 3, when I was playing COD. I had no idea how to play, and I tried for 3 hours and gave up for a year, and then tried again, and won after 4. I made my way to firelink shrine, attacked Hawkwood the deserter thinking he was an enemy and got myself stuck for another 3 hours. The souls series is my favorite of all time, and it all started there.
Me: "Maybe I should partake in one of these challenges myself" *watches as the runners navigate Tomb of the Giants without any light* Me: "On second thought..."
It’s not that difficult after a few attempts u just need to make sure u make a path and stick to it a hundred percent as its so easy to get turned around
It is easily the "easiest hard thing to do" is dark souls navigation. There is no timing as in Duke skip nor are you required to land in perfect spots as in Ceaseless skip, i'd say that if you try it 10 times (takes 15 mins with speedsouls) you'll get a good hang of it
My friend made me buy them all on sale last holiday and I fell in love with them. These games had me making spreadsheets of the items so I could get every achievement. What a great series.
My first souls game was DS1 right when it released. A friend of mine showed me it and I found it super interesting right off the bat. I bought it, struggled, died 50 times to Havel, and after 10 hours stopped. A few months later I picked it up again and fell absolutely in love. Beat the game, like 20 times, 100% achievements multiple times, 100% all the other games when they came out, became my favorite series. Best game experience of my life!
same for me i played it and got lost in the darkroot garden and had no idea what i was doing and which upgrade on the weapons to get and stopped playing after a couple of hours but after like 6 months i picked it up again and got myself more invested into it and dark souls became my favorite franchise of all time
I bought DS1 at some point to see if it's really that hard. Yes, it was 😅 My first run ended with ragequitting at Capra. After 2-3 months i started new just to ragequit again at Capra. After another 2-3 months i started new again and this time i beat Capra second try, and that's when i fell for the Souls-series. I completed DS1 a few times, then DS2 a few times. DS3...well, let's say i'm still mad at the Dancer because she won't let me pass 😅 Bloodborne and Sekiro are on my to-buy-list but i'm thinking of buying Elden Ring first.
@@christianstachl Nice! Ah yeah, Dancer was my hardest fight in DS3. I just started playing Elden Ring for the first time yesterday. So far it's pretty damn good. I love that at it's core it feels like Dark Souls, but theres a lot of new mechanics and it feels fresh. Sekiro is absolutely incredible too, easily one of my favorite souls games
@@minigooshey Sounds great! I also just bought Elden Ring 😅 Was thinking of waiting, but it costs only 40 bucks atm so i grabbed it. First thing i have to do is make sure i have Playstation-buttons ingame. Bit of a hustle because you need a mod loader and 2 mods, but it's really important 😅 Can't wait to play it!
@@christianstachl Really, you need a mod for that to show the buttons? That's surprising and honestly silly... Why wouldn't that be a part of the game. I actually was planning to wait until I have my hands on a controller to play, but I couldn't resist and decided to try it with keyboard and mouse. It's surprisingly decent
My first souls game was DS2, I remember spending WAY too long exploring Things Betwixt, then getting to Majula and sitting there, taking in the view, listening to that eerily calming music, then getting massacred by the piglets. Truly an experience I can never forget. I yearn for another like it.
@@dimes5737 DS2 is mostly a positive experience, especially for those who started there. most people who shit on it came from DS1 and didnt like that it wasnt as easy and made you level up ADP to feel good in combat
@@zackmash851 I came from DS1 as well and love DS2. Not as much as DS1, but I think it's almost as good in different ways. Some stuff is much worse, but some stuff is also much better than anything in DS1. DS3 though... don't love it quite as much. Feels like a casualized Souls 1 that they made extremely linear (I do suppose bosses are harder). It's still a good game, but not quite as good as 1 and 2, IMO.
I used to watch my dad play ds1 and Ds2 , he made it look easy , so when I decided to pick it up , it was a trail by fire , I went through the first 4 hours not even levelling up as I couldn’t keep my souls…nightmare , but 8 years later many tears and nosebleeds , it’s my favourite game ❤
My first souls game was DS1 and I was an absolute disaster. I almost gave up multiple times but slowly started to enjoy the pain. Until O&S where I wanted to give up again. But I pressed on and now it's probably my favourite game of all time.
I stopped playing DS1 for like a year but when my college friend got it I started playing again and we were kind of competing with each other to see how far we could get.
My first souls game was dark souls 3 back in 2019, I came into the souls space through youtube videos detailing how incredible the boss design was in the games and how it was a punishing but rewarding experience. I remember the pure hype I felt after beating ludex gundyr on my first attempt and I kinda fell in love with the series from there, I now have around 4000 hours in total over all the games
My first souls game was bloodborne. I remember exploring yharnam for the very first time and having trouble getting past that first mob of yharnamites. It was such an awesome feeling when I found my first boss ever in a souls game, Cleric Beast, and even cooler when I discovered the sewers. The way the levels just flowed into one another was incredible and is part of the reason I love souls games so much.
@Boco Corwin Man Shadow of the colossus on ps2 and Demons Souls on ps3 , what a vibe ^^ I mean older gamers might have other immersive titles that come to mind even older than those two, but those were my introductions to grimdark fantasy and what an introduction ^^
Fuuuck DS speedruns are always so damn cool and interesting. I could never hope to be anywhere near these dudes level, BUT I did learn a few tricks that will make even normal gameplay easier. Congrats on the win, you both did an amazing job. And a huge thanks to Chest for another awesome challenge run thingy. I appreciate you all.
My first experience was Dark Souls 1. It was almost a spiritual experience overcoming the hurdles, finding new areas and seeing how the map was pieced together. The sense of discovery is unmatched to me even now. It was hard (and still is) for me to play non souls-like games after playing Dark Souls, it changed my entire gaming worldview.
my first experience with dark souls. i had just been broken up with after a 5 year relationship, i was super depressed and had no motivation to do anything. i took the game up as a challenge, something to overcome. i had always heard how it was very hard and i thought it would be a good confidence boost if i were to beat it (kinda cringe but whatever). i loved the level design and the way it relied on general gaming knowledge but also subverted normal gaming expectations of how things should work. seeing anor londo for the first time was an absolutely mind blowing experience. probably the best feeling ive ever had in a game. when i finally beat gwyn i chose to link the fire, and toward the middle of that cinematic my game crashed. i missed out on the ending song unfortunately. went back and beat it in ng+ a couple weeks later with the DLC and everything. i got a dark souls tattoo a couple years later, a darksign in thin outlines on my right forearm. dark souls serves as a permanent good memory for me, and will always be a reminder of the things i have overcome
My first Dark Souls experience was a playthrough with my buddy and his brother. At first, it seems the experience is ruined because I ran through with people who knew all the secrets and the game would be too easy. However the way they walked me through the game was absolutely enjoyable and immersive. They would literally just follow me and tell me lore about certain areas. They only shared secrets or hidden paths unless I asked or it was necessary for an important item. I did a playthrough on my own at the same time, but playing it for the first time with friends in the way they introduced me to the World and community was an incredible experience.
The first time i played a souls game was when my grandad bought my old ps3 and said we could play games together whenever i went over. i told him theres this infamous game series called "dark souls" and it has some of the hardest gameplay from any game. My grandad soon bought Demons souls and i thought itd be okay since it wasnt called "dark souls" but i was soon mistaken, but i remember the relief and celebrations after every boss kill and slight bit of progression like it was yesterday. Nowadays me and my grandad are souls veterans and we are currently on our 3rd playthrough of dark souls 2. for my grandads 70th birthday i got him a displate of our favourite character Siegmeyer of Caterina. It feels like the souls series has brought me so much closer to my grandad and how happy we both were to sit together at the end of Elden Ring.
My first souls game was ds3 and I remember being so terrified of the undead settlement that it took me an entire month to get past that part. Eventually I made it to the soul of cinder and finally beat the game it took me over 80 hours to clear ds3 on my first play through and Jesus was it an experience.
Awesome vid! I really do love these videos, these challenges are so fun to watch and all these diverse routes and tense moments make it even better. My first souls game was Dark Souls Remastered back in 2019. When I got to the Undead Burg, I actually got the Black Knight Sword, so I breezed through the game pretty easily 😅 However, Manus, Gwyn (didn't know you could parry him), and Artorias were very tough
My first experience with souls games was Demon's Souls when I was still a child, I was 8 years old in fact. At the time, I wasn't really good at games so I never actually left Boletaria, even though I probably played it for at least 10 hours and still enjoyed it. The thing I liked to do the most though, was not actually playing the game, but reading the wikis and helping my uncle when he got stuck (that's probably how I started learning English, it's not my native language), this kind of shaped me as a gamer, to this day, I still play my games with the help of wikis and trying to minmax everything. I didn't beat Demon's Souls at that time. My interest in the franchise (it wasn't one at the time) died a bit until Dark Souls was released and my interest reignited. After beating Dark Souls, I had to go back to Demon's Souls to conquer the monsters that I feared back then. I then went on to play every souls game (but Sekiro) and, for each one of them, I have special memories I hold close to me.
My first experience playing dark souls was playing Dark souls 1, I beat the asylum very easily and I progressed onto fire link. I ran into the cemetery over and over, dying over 20 times until I thought the game was stupid and I quit, and uninstalled It was only until 2 years later until I returned and I found out the cemetery isn’t the only pathway. I was playing with my two friends Casey and Brandon who also never played dark souls and we both shared our experience as we played, all cheering as we make it to a new area, finding a new item, discovering the bosses, and seeing who could beat each areas boss first. It was a fun time, and it was fun playing the game along with friends, it’s a memory I cherish, and it made Dark souls my favorite series, and dark souls 3 to be my favorite video game.
My First Souls was DS1, it had every thing that I ever wanted in a game. The freedom of weapons choices and exploration got me right way. It was soo difficult, but that never got frustrated cause I was so invested that I was trying all sort of things to overcome the challenge of an area. It was magical!
My first (and so far only) souls game was Dark souls 3, which i now played throguh at least 3 times. My friend pressured me into buying during a sale, so we both played for our first time, chatting together in discord and getting our asses kicked by gundyr.. golden times
First playthrough was super weird, I was excited about it but wasn't expecting the game to be like it was. Many nice memories, harder times but I never disliked it. Ornstein and Smough I will never forget, and the second playthrough made me truly fall in love.
My first souls like experience was bloodborne, the game was free on the ps plus, the theme of the game stood out to me as i love that aesthetic, the music, the dark and eery atmosphere combined with my lack of knowledge about the souls games made me want to jump right into it. At the time I had NO idea what a souls-like was, but right as I jumped into the game I knew that it was different from anything I had previously played, no tutorial, no help, nothing. It was a hard game to learn, I was also much younger than I am rn, therefore it was also scary, each step I took in Yharnam was an act of bravery to be fair, the enemies, the maze like level design, all of these factors combined made bloodborne extremely suffocating yet enjoyable to me, after many attempts I got to the cleric beast, I failed many times and then I found out about consumable items, molotovs to be more specific. I attempted the boss once again, used all of my molotovs and ALMOST killed the beast; knowing that my next attempt would be much harder without the help of fire items, I dropped the game, it was too much for me back then. Years later I came back to the game and I loved it, it was much easier than last time for some reason, and after beating bloodborne I bought Dark Souls 3, Sekiro, Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 1 and Elden Ring, in this exact order.
My first soul's borne game is actually Elden Ring not to long ago I bought it the day it came out and expectedly the game was gorgeous and the feeling that I felt when I opened the door to Limgrave was unforgettable. This led me to have over 250h+ with all achievements and started playing older games like DS1 and Sekiro. Now on the road on all platinums.
My first souls game was dark souls 3. It was an absolute mess. I had no idea about builds so I ended up have level 70 visor and nothing else. But I pressed on until I beat nameless after 1000+ attempts and I screamed so loud I got a noise complaint. Best souls moment of my life
always love these videos, it's great to see how good some people are. my first souls game was ds1 on the Xbox 360, it was hard and I was bad, I did not get far. what I really consider my first should game is ds3 which I tried years later, absolutely loved the experience, started searching every nook and crany for hidden areas and still managed to completely miss the whole lava area on my first run
Ik it’s to late to win 50$. But my first experience with dark souls was rough. I fell for a lot of noob mistakes. I leveled up strength a lot when I was welding a lightning spear and didn’t know it wouldn’t scale. Got stuck on O&S and couldn’t progress. It got me to get Dark Souls two which was the first one I beat. It gave me the courage to go back and beat the first one. I was able to beat it after talking to some homies who suggested using magic or pyromancy. That and finding out I could get the black knight weapons helped me coast through the game. I have a yearly tradition to go back and beat the games once a year to just make sure I still got it. I’ve beat 1,2,3 I’m on the third final boss in Elden ring and want to play Bloodborn and Sekkiro. Much love to fans of Dark Souls games!
My first souls experience was in DS3, and it wasn't actually that bad. As someone who studied music my while life the fact that it was basically a rhythm game clicked really well with me
dark souls 1 introduced me to souls. i remember how my father gifted it to me for christmas, both of us having no idea what was ahead of me. during my first hours in the game i mustve collected around 200+ deaths, quitted several times and took breaks for several days. but i was determined, and oh lord did it feel good to finally beat the game after 40+ hours
My first real experience with a souls game was purchasing DSR with some birthday money from my grandma. We were staying at a hotel that weekend and I swear Undead Burg still smells like pool chlorine to me. I got stuck on the bridge Taurus and put the game down for a while, after which I mistakenly purchased Sekiro thinking it was Ghost of Tsushima. Loved the game, and chewed through it bit by bit, inspiring me to go back to Dark Souls, then beat Demon’s Souls, then Elden Ring. Still working on DS2 before I try DS3 and can’t seem to get the hang of BloodBorne, but I can safely say my brain has been reprogrammed to just not enjoy non-soulslikes as much anymore!
My first experience was a social experience. It was an opportunity to connect with my two closest friends over COVID and overcome the struggles of Dark Souls Remastered together, helping each other out at any opportunity we could. I'm grateful for that experience
I bought DS3 on sale with just cause three on ps4 way back. Played JC3 for a bit and forgot about souls. Until like a year later when I decides to try it. My first memory was playing with my brother, getting invaded and absolutely stomped. Now I have over 2k hours in ds3 and can confidentially say I win 1/2 of my invasions
My first was ds3… I fell in love. And I hated it. The controls were so weird. My fingers felt disabled. But hour by hour I could feel myself getting better. I liked that
My first souls game was DS1. I had never heard or souls games before and it was great. I died a lot but the sense of mystery as you explore and the pride you feel when you beat a boss is why I continued playing the souls games.
I started off with DS3 and it was a hell of an experience. I heard somewhere that it was a "hard game" which somehow drew me to it. It was also one of my first full size games all in all so it really defined my taste in video games. I took about 95 hours to beat the game with countless struggles and many bosses that were a big roadblock but I pulled through in the end and loved it. Also I played with mouse and keyboard because I didn't have a controller and didn't think it would be much better (lol)
My first Souls game was DS1, and it was amazing. It felt so good exploring the world, overcoming challenges, and the PvP was excellent, even if it *is* pretty spammy. I got the Black Knight Halberd early on, and it's still one of the most nostalgic weapons in all of gaming for me. My favorite fight has to be O&S. Something about that fight just makes it perfect, and it was probably the best fight in Souls history for me. It was wonderful, and exploring the community after I beat the game has led me to places like this channel! Praise the sun!
My first Souls experience was shortly after the Dark Souls Release for PS3, I installed it and didn't know better and straight went for the Catacombs and was beaten up by the Skeletons. I was so pissed that i Uninstalled it and never touched it again for at least 3 Years. Only then i discovered that u actually have to go left instead of right and completely fell in love with the entire series. Have thousands of hours in the games nowadays.
My first souls game was Dark Souls 1 Remastered on my switch. I remember buying it one day during a sale, trying it out for a bit, and then eventually raging and giving up at the Undead Burg. I did come back to the game later, and I was able to get through it thanks to FightinCowboy’s walkthrough. It was definitely difficult and frustrating at times - especially during the latter half post O&S - but I was able to enjoy the game more tremendously thanks to his walkthrough. He showed me how to explore and deal with enemies in ways that transferred to the other games, and DS1 sparked a love within me for these games.
Dark souls 2, I didn’t realize you could start of as more than a Wretch, so I gave up EARLY... picked it up a couple months later and realized I could start off with gear and loved the series ever since.
My first game was DS1 when the remaster first released. I got to the Gargoyles and was absolutely stomped. I came back to the game over a year later to see if I'd be more willing to see it through and ended up finishing the rest in just a couple of weeks! One of my favorite games of all time.
My first time playing a souls game was DS1. I had just built my first computer and didn't have a controller yet, so I played with friends on K/S. Somehow still loved it and never stopped.
My first souls game was DS3, loved the game, done all the bosses including dlc and I've done the same with all soulsborne + sekiro. I'm still enjoying Elden Ring randomizer and I'll be replaying all the games. DS2 was the hardest for me cuz I didn't know that i-frames scale with a stat :D Love you content, keep up the great work
my first souls game was sekiro, it took me 30 minutes to beat the tutorial mini boss (I HAVE NEVER PLAYED A SOULS GAME BEFORE THIS. IN ADDITION, I PICK THE EASIEST SETTING ON ALL SINGLE PLAYER GAMES) The Genichiro fight whooped my ass. So I quit. 2 months later I came back to sekiro and slowly but surely beat Genichiro. Then lady butterfly, guardian ape, guardian ape and his bride, both monks, owl, secret owl, divine dragon. Then finally, I stood in ashina reservoir once-more, against none other than genichiro. I had beaten the boss that had caused me so much pain, I then killed isshin after a dozen attempts. After beating sekiro; I was reminded on what makes souls-games so special, It isnt the difficulty. Its feeling of looking back on all the challenges you've over-come and being proud that you kept going. Sekiro is still my favourite game to this day.
My first souls experience was Ds1 on the switch. I borrowed it from a friend and played it for hours struggling and since it was on switch it wasn’t the greatest way to experience the game. My friend decided to let me keep the game since he also sucked. I put the game away for years until I decided to play it again, and I finally beat it. It was amazing I had never experienced a game that killed me over and over and had kept me coming back like darks souls. Now I have beaten the game three times and also beat DS3. Thank you dark souls you will always have a special place in my heart.
Dark souls 1 was a beautiful first experience for me. I was in middle school and my dads friend who was our neighbor bought him a copy of the game so he would give it a try. I had 0 clue what to expect. Probably was most interested in seeing him get crushed.. I picked up the game as well and we had both progressed through the together. We bonded pretty well over it. I would wake up early before school and think about playing when I got home. We even bought the wiki book from GameStop. Sure i died a lot but I was exploring and in love. From designing my character to learning how to unlock shortcuts and Logan’s spells. I built some of the most nostalgic memories in my life in this game and got to do it in a unique way. I would search for books in the library that even resembled the drug like addiction I had to the souls world. Was a souls OG ever since. And yes I finished my play though before my father lol. 22 now ✌️
Me too bro I am 23 now i miss those blessed days dark souls 1 will remain the best game and one of the happiest memories in our lives everyone got to experience it in his own way but we all have this common nostalgic feeling attached to it thank you for this great comment 😊
Ds1 was the most beautiful experience of my life. I was obsessed with every corner of map area and lore I consumed every media related to that, I used to sleep and start thinking about what I would do next or what have I done, basically reciting it every day before sleep. If this sounds insane... I have a severe anxiety issue that doesn't allow me to sleep due to really dark thoughts about doom and worst possible scenarios whirling around my head when I go to sleep. Dark souls allowed me to divert my mind to this game lore and beautiful vistas just immerse myself into the game world, from the reality that became too real most of the time.
My first souls game was Elden Ring. I've always loved open-world games, and Elden Ring quickly became one of my favourite games ever. Because of how open it is, I never felt like I just had to "get through it" and grind a boss, although, now that I've gotten all the steam achievements and explored every area, I find it hard to go back to the game.
I had 3 major roadblocks in my first playthrough. 1. I didnt know there was a side exit at Asylum Demon. Thus I spent about 2-3 hours beating him with the broken knive. 2. In the sewers I managed to get cursed. Since I was an idiot trying to get the souls back, I manged to get cursed again. Which results in 25% max HP left. After that I gave up on the souls and rather began thinking. I remembered there was a vendor that sold an item that can cure it, but I didnt know which one it was. After a crueling journey out, I made my way to Oswald in the end. 3. O&S took me over 8 hours to beat, since I never had to manage fighting multiple enemies. I also had to learn how to keep Smough away effectively using the pillars. Finally beating them was one of the moments in my life where I felt the purest joy and still is my best memory I associate when I think about gaming. 1 NG+ roadblock: I didnt manage to be good enough for the DPS check at Four Kings, even after multiple attemps. Thus I changed strategy after about 2 hours and went full Havel with Iron Flesh. First try with that strat. I love Dark Souls and its successors. I also believe that I as a person, got better by playing that game. I mean my patience, perserverance and mental tenacity got honed a lot. But who knows how much I can actually attribute to that, since I was in my puberty back then and one might hope to have some development in that regard during that time either way.
My first souls experience was DS1. I was so lost in the world, feeling like I truly was just wandering around until I found a place I could go. I remember getting stuck in the painted world for a long time. I had come halfway through the game, and I still didn't understand any of what I was doing, or what I was failing to do. I decided to look up some stuff about the game for the first time, and finally learned about damage scaling and what all the numbers meant. This was hugely important for me, finally being able to do some decent damage. I abandoned my first character, using guidance online to progress through the game. This is also when I learned about lore youtubers, and just absolutely fell in love with the series. Now, I've played ds1-3, bloodborne, platted sekiro, and nearly platted elden ring. One of the best decisions I ever made was playing this "super hard game" that a ffiend of a friend was playing
My first experience was DS1, after a long time I killed Asylum Demon and made it to Firelink just to miss the intended path and go directly down the Catacombs, needless to say I felt like "Souls really is as hard as I keep hearing" and got so frustrated that I put the game down for almost a whole year. Picked it up with a friend after that hiatus and in classic controller switching after a death we beat the game without any guides after a few weeks, to this day I hold these memories and am so glad I got into the series
his run through blight town netted him that gold pine resin which happens to be the gargoyle's weakness which is why he killed him so fast and why despite not using the red tearstone ring or swapping weapons mid fight, got him into blight town faster. the titanite shard was just just a bonus
I first got dark souls in 2014, I was only 11 and I got stuck at Taurus demon. I think there was one time I got passed him but then got stuck again at the boar ( I say one time because I had a bad habit of wanting to restart to play every class). I had given up on the game until 2018 when I saw a ymfah video doing crazy challenges in the trilogy and I wanted to give the game another shot. A bit older and with more perseverance I eventually made it to the gates of Gwyn, and walking through and hearing plin plin plon for the first time after everything the game put me through nearly made me cry. Now it's my favorite game and I do all sorts of challenge runs. Loved the video, gonna have to see how many souls I can get in an hour!
it was 2016, my brother recomanded me to try DS3. i fell in love with the game, it was super hard for me because not only it was my first time tryign the game, but also i took 0 help from the community. (beside my brother telling me a unique location which was the rug to teleport to archdragon peak and he also convinced me at SL 25 to kill Emma which led to the dancer fight) took me 2 months to finish the game. holds a special place in my heart.
I first discovered and played Dark Souls on PC way back in like 2013. I had just gone through a tough break up and this game challenged and consumed me in a way a game never had. And I have spent hundreds of hours modding and playing TES and FO and GTA SA. But Dark Souls was such a different beast. The challenge, the level design, the absolute lack of instructions on what to do and where to go haha...It sounds corny but it kind of changed my life. The sensation and joy you feel from learning, mastering, and beating the game (parried Gwyn with a flawless final boss fight after dying to him about 20 times lol) was like nothing I had ever experienced in gaming. AND it introduced me to BERSERK!!! WOW What a great bonus, right?! Miyazaki deserves a Nobel prize.
Never having played a Souls game before, I was not going to buy Elden Ring... but my friend talked me into buying it... and now I've played through almost the entire souls-series and love it! Elden Ring took my souls-series virginity and even though it was a difficult game, I loved every bit of it.
My first souls game was DS1. I spent about an hour trying to fight the asylum demon with the broken sword without noticing the door and then quit. It wasn't until a few years later that one of my friends bought the game and asked if I wanted to play co-op with him (which I hadn't even known was an option.) We ended up playing through the whole series together and now its easily one of, if not my favorite game franchise.
The trauma playing The first DS game!!! I genuinely told my therapist about it, I went in thinking the game wasn't as hard as people said, I killed a bunch of skeletons easily so just kept going, the first real boss... I heard the bells ringing when people beat them, little did I know my time fighting them and those ringing bells would haunt my dreams, every time I died and heard the bells ring out for someone else I lost a part of my soul, it genuinely killed me to know I was still stuck in the same place, i would level up, go back and try again, i think i was roughly 25 hours Into the game before i did it. I was so hyped to get them done that I finished the full game, I was determined! Definitely the hardest game I have ever played
Traded in games for a random new game i wanted to try and knew nothing about. when i told the best buy worker to give me dark souls because i liked the cover, he laughed and said "are you sure?". weeks later im a hundred hours in and in awe of everything. the difficulty was something i had never experienced up until that point. and now here i am watching darksouls videos years later.
Sadly I watched a ton of Dark Souls speedruns before playing the game myself so when I actually purchased the game I knew mostly everything. Funny enough the mechanics were very intuitive and easy to grasp so there weren't many issues. Truly a timeless classic and one of my favorite gaming experiences.
Last year I decided to try DS1, because a good friend from highschool wouldnt stop talking about the DS franchise, fell in love w the game as should be, but I gathered something in the ballpark of 36 hours in the game without knowing I could RUN, felt so stupid I decided to restart and finally I got good , or so I thought, then disaster stroke, Smough and Ornstein took me like 100 tries and was super tilting and traumatising, then I decided to play DS1 as many times as needed to get really good at it before moving on. 5 stars to the experience, kinda miss the feeling of being hopeless to a boss o I guess Sekiro its going to be fun :)
My first experience in dark souls remastered was that i was completely lost in the firelink and had no idea where to go, I asked my friend who played a lot of dark souls before for a guide and he told me to kill havel at the begginging, it was not a great experience tbh but the havel ring helped out a lot later on :)
My first souls was the wonderous DS1 in 2012 or so, after i heard from countless meme posts on reddit saying about how hard it is. I gave it try after the dlc dropped and boy i suprised of how hard it was. Not knowing where to go and everything wasnt spoiled. I learned through the world and never gave up. The combat was rough almost compared to Sekiro, as for learning how combat flow works. I lost countless souls and died countless times. The worst part of getting through the game was the capra demon to go to the depths. My god a small room that the dogs will gank you almost everytime was horrible. I wanted to quit but never did because i was so fascinated with the game. All of the bosses took so many tries but in the end it was worth it, and having the success to beating a boss you struggle with is truly amazing. Adrenline flowing. Heart pumping. Ever since DS1 i have played every fromsoft game excluding Demons Souls. DS1 will always be in my heart closely as well as Bloodborne.
My very first experience with a Souls game was Dark Souls 2. I used to watch hours of RUclips content on Dark Souls before I started playing and i was hooked from the first video i watched. What pulled me in? The difficulty. Im a 38 year old gamer and I've been gaming since i was 5, ive played video games everyday that i could and both my parents encouraged it as they saw what video games did for me and to me (it sparked and opened up my creative mind). As i was saying, I have been gaming for a long time, i have played countless game titles and never felt a real challenge in games unless I played on the toughest difficulties and even then it felt like a walk in park so once i saw my first DS video and witnessed a new level of difficulty it was all over, Dark Souls was all i wanted to watch. Fast forward to Dark Souls 3. A friend of mine owned DS3 and when he would come over we played mostly multiplayer games but i would always end up wanting to watch him play DS3. I needed no more convincing and one day I walked into my local Game Stop, just to browse as i was pretty poor and couldnt afford much of anything at that time. Well my friend is a gem, a real rare gem of a person and he decided to buy me a copy of DS2, to me that was the equivalent of any rare special gift. It may seem small and not as special to some other people but it meant a lot to me. Lets just say when i got back home that day DS2 entered my PS and never left it for the first 600 hours of gameplay, i was instantly hooked, the depth of the level designs were astounding, the depth of every single character in the game and the fascinating Lore to everyone, it was like a Buffet for my mind. Now i compare every single game to Dark Souls. after beating DS2 and spending thousands of hours playing and making different characters with all different styles, I went back and played the predecessors, Demon Souls, DS1 and then i moved ahead to Bloodborne and finally DS3, needless to say there was 0 hesitation when Elden Ring launched. I am a true fan of everything Hidetaka Miyazaki is doing with this series of games, how he ties everything and everyone together. I really can't say enough about his games. DS has made me a better gamer all around. i have improved in every genre of video games that i play.
First souls game was the Bloodborne Demake on PC, didn't understand how to do stuff and what to do so quit after a bit. First proper souls experience was DS1 which felt so magical and everytime I found an interconnected path, it made me want to explore more. I played DS2 promptly after completing it. Then I stopped playing it and jumped to DS3 because I played the SoFtS version which had way too many enemies. I also remember going into Pinwheel with no estus left and at low health thought that "Well this is faster than using a homeward" and then won
Dark Souls 1 bought it, got stuck in the graveyard. I thought I wasn't good enough, didn't even explore the bottom of the shrine or the cliff towrds the burg. After a couple days I set it down. Months go by watched a RUclips video and felt like an idiot. Favorite game of all time.
My first time playing a souls game was watching my buddy play dark souls 3 doing the twin princes. He got fed up with it. So I asked for the controls and a few attempts at it. Beat them on my 3rd attempt. Been hooked on the series ever since.
My first FromSoft game was Bloodborne, but the first game I could beat was Elden Ring. I was stuck on the Cleric Beast + intro Yharnam for the better part of a week. I promise you, I was trying.
I haven’t thought about my first souls playthrough in a hot minute. My friend and I would play together, brainstorming and collectively working our way through the game, helping each other on bosses we found difficult. I remember mainly fat-rolling, using the zweihander, grass crest shield and giant set; my friend would mid-roll while using the halberd, grass crest shield and wearing anything comical or fashionable. I remember the bosses I struggled on being Capra demon, Sif, O&S, four-kings and bed of chaos. My friend struggled on queelag, ceaseless, O&S, Seath and Gwyn. Nothing will compare to that first playthrough, it took about 60 hours and the fear I’d feel in that first half of the game was equivalent to that of a horror game. I wish I could go back and do it all over again.
First souls game was ds1, and I didn't realize you were supposed to run past the asylum demon the first time you encounter it. While trying to fight it, and dying several times I noticed it broke one of the pillars in the arena with an attack so I lured it all around the arena baiting it into breaking the pillars before realizing there was an open pathway to run by... and then after getting to firelink shrine I wandered into the graveyard and got absolutely wrecked by a skeleton. To this day any type of skeleton mob in souls games puts the fear of god into me
My first soulsborme was da1 an I hated it!! .... At first. I actually gave up after I kept dying and dying and didn't even beat the Taurus demon. Then I met a friend in college who got really excited when I mentioned dark souls. He showed me that it wasn't as simple as Skyrim, and something just clicked. Now I have several hundreds of hours in each soulsborne game and have loved it ever since. Thanks David!!
my first experience with dark souls was when i bought ds3 for 70$ because one of my fav youtubers played it and i gave up after 20min because i didnt understand it. 3 years later i came back to the game and absolutely loved it. after that i played ds2 and elden ring. ds1 is still on my list for games i have to play
most memorable thing about my first playthrough was probably getting stuck on OnS and traveling all the way to Ash Lake to farm twinkling titanite to upgrade my blacknight greatsword. This was also before any major patch so the drop rate of the titanite was BAD and the giant blacksmith didnt sell them yet either. Ash Lake still holds a special place in my heart because of this since I literally spent hours grinding for just 4 or 5 twinkling titanite
I was going to do this challenge to see if my playing 20+ playthroughs would pay off but many English/math assignments got in my way. I will submit a run on the next challenge. congrats to the winners of this challenge
My first souls game was the original Demon's back in 2009. I used to browse Gamespot and saw their glowing review and then later-on game of the year award that they gave to it, filled me with tons of hype. Got it the day after Christmas, couldn't put it down for months if not years afterward. Told all my friends, got them into the series. Now we all play and love the Soulsbornesekiring series to this day. For some more context...what initially drew me to the game was the multiplayer. The thought of being able to just...do the best parts of any game with my friends, or fight them with cool weapons/magic was nothing short of mind blowing for me. I still can't believe how well it worked and formed the groundwork for every game to follow. The difficulty was also contentious, but I wasn't deterred because the thought of being able to "conquer" each boss and area with my friends either by sharing knowledge or just...directly helping was so much fun. I think Dark Souls 1 ended up taking my longest playtime at the end of the day (you can blame pvp in the township for that), but Demon's will always remain one of my most favorite and most nostalgic gaming experiences of all time.
My first experience was with dark souls II. A summer night, i don't remember the year, but it was me and my friend in a discord call, i was sharing my screen. I remember dying to the ogre at the start of things betwixt for what felt like hours, and eventually i deleted my character, made a new one, choose the bandit class, and cheesed him with a bow. That night was such a great night and a start of something beautiful
Dark souls 3 was my first, noticing already about the evolution of these games, it was an awesome transition from raging to learning and then having real fun with the hard games the soulslike games are
My first was DS1. I went to new Londo first and got wrecked. So I decided to go the other way, the catacombs. I could. Not. Get. Past. The damn. Pinwheel skeletons. I climbed all the way back out and it was hellish. I was stuck at firelink, having completely missed the path to undead burg, so I looked for a guide online. I made it to Andre and accidentally threw a firebomb at him. Several ass-kickings later, I accepted defeat and made a new character. 10/10, would recommend.
My first souls experience was DS3 on the first week it released, it was when I discovered this beautiful franchise and was a very dark time in life. Back then, my family had issues and I had some hardships that put me in a deep depression that took 1 and a half years to heal. Healed, thanks to Dark Souls it is. I bought the game and entered the unused guest room in my house that had the xbox. You know how unused rooms have a distinct smell to them, more like a scent. It always reminded me of the game. Here is my painful first playthrough though. After playing for a few weeks and getting my claymore to +3, I had to stop playing because of some family issues again. I returned about 2 months later and totally forgot that you can upgrade your weapons. I really went through most of the game with a Claymore +3 and an unupgraded Fume, my first playthrough was thus, hell. But I enjoyed so much because it was my escape from reality. I strived for every boss and tried for days but enjoyed every last bit of it. I started reading about the lore and watching videos. I was in love with this beautiful world Miyazaki has created and the philosophy behind it. As I got deeper and deeper in the lore it got me into reading philosophy and there, I found answers to my problems. Learned to live with what I can't change, and changing what I can change until it surpasses what I can't, if that makes sense. Also this is how I realized my weapons were unupgraded: I was on xbox and parents didn't let me buy xbox gold which enables multiplayer. So I never seen an invader in my playthrough up to this point and somehow I didn't had a recollection of a npc invader. I believe I passed through them all unembered because remind you, I died a lot with unupgraded stuff. I realized after I beat twin princes (my fav boss of ds3) it took me so much effort I mastered it in hours and hours of trying lol. I heard the game is difficult everywhere so thought it was how it is. Though when I was farming for something in undead settlement after that, Hodrick invaded me(I remember going nuts seeing an invader npc for the first time lmao) The damage difference was off the charts and felt weird because they are a player character and by that time the difficulty of the game started to get ungodly so I was thinking if I'm missing something so I searched it on the internet. May be hard to believe but was dumbfounded to rediscover andre. I'm not typing this for 50$, just wanted to tell about my first experience. Don't include me in the roll please I really don't need it. I'm doing great as of now being able to live alone, and every time I visit my family's house, I enter that room I had my first playthrough in. I take in that scent of probably dust and old couch and hell yeah, it smells like dark souls to me.
I bought DS1 about a year after I came out from Gamespot. Tried it, hated it after dying a hundred times in undead burg. Tried it again a year later, same result. After co-worker said "trust me, once you get the hang of combat, you'll love it." I then got the hang of combat and loved it.
My first experience was a delight. Mastodon had just put out a new album, I was on spring break, it was early spring. I was sitting outside, drinking tea, listening to metal and enjoying the claymore.
My first fromsoft game was Sekiro. I remember how i fought the first ishhin general mini-boss for 8 hours. He obliderated me so many times that i lost count. I was on the edge of quiting, until everything just... Clicked. The game was mostly smooth sailing from that point foward. Like that game made me realize: "hey, this games are not that scary after all, maybe i'll try the older ones." And i completed the whole DS Trilogy, and almost finished Bloodborne. One of the best gaming mamoties in my life are from these games, and i recommend them to everyone.
My first souls game was DS3. A friend got it as a gift and couldn't get past the first boss. I went over to his place to hang and got to play it. I beat the first boss and ever since then, I was in love with the game. A year later, I bought my own copy and played the thing night and day. I remember popping off so hard after beating Nameless King after ages of trying to beat him.
My first was DS3. I had never played a "difficult" game like this series before so I was super intimidated to even start. Luckily, I decided that I would have a lot more fun if I had some of my friends join me. They agreed, and they allowed me to explore while not giving a single spoiler about what was to come. It was one of the most fun experiences of my life, and also helped me make a friend for life. Truly an experience that will stick with me.
I begun my adventure with Bloodborne. I was a painful experience at first, but once I got the gist of the mechanics, it was an incredible experience. My love for these games started there
My first Souls game was the PC version of Dark Souls 1. I bought it on sale for six bucks, played it for about an hour and stopped. Came back later, took over five hours to beat the Taurus Demon, made it all the way to Anor Londo with a fat rolling Zweihander build, and gave up. It wasn't until after I played through and beat Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 that I was able to go back and complete my unfinished business with DS1. I've since played through and beaten all of the Souls games from Demon's Souls through Elden Ring multiple times, and loved (almost) every minute of it. My dual whip build in Dark Souls 2 wasn't all that fun, though.
I played Dark Souls on Xbox 360 after hearing about it from my buddies who described it as being one of the hardest games they’ve ever played. Being the challenge seeker I am, I played it, got stuck at flooded New Londo Ruins because I had no idea where to go and dropped the game for about a year. 😂 Thankfully I got back into it after watching my buddy play it. Seeing that he had 50k souls was incredible to me at the time. One of my most favourite areas in video games is in Dark Souls at Ash Lake. The scenery coupled with the OST is absolutely perfect. Dark Souls is truly an immaculate game.
My first encounter with a souls game was while I lived in the house of a buddy of mine in Frankfurt/Main. He had a Playstation and one afternoon he was playing DS1 when I walked into the room. I was like: "That looks like a weird game. What is the purpose and fun of dying over and over again?" He said something like: "The feeling of finaling beating a boss after the 10th, 20th or even 50th try is great and feels more rewarding the more you failed." I then tried it for myself and it took me at least 4 hours just to get out of the ayslum and probably somethin like 20 hours to get to the taurus demon. From there I needed another 5 hours to kill it. I was so god damn pissed. And then I realized: "Damn, I just beat the Taurus Demon. I feel awesome."
My first souls game was DS3. I was watching a friend who was playing the game and I thought it looked really cool. I bought the game, died to gundyr a ton of times, and then gave up for a few months. When I came back I was motivated, and then I finished it. Now I'm in love with the series
I tried them as they were a good game to stream and never really got fully in to it, I left the game for a year after struggling on Seath of all bosses, but fate would have it that the game found me again during a break up and I picked it back up, beat Seath in like an hour, beat the rest of the game in 3 or 4 days, 2 of those days going to gwyn as I never knew how to parry. After beating it, I fell in love and went on to beat dark souls 3 which made me love the series even more. Quickly rising to my all time favourite games. They truly carried me through what would have been a much more difficult process. I beat Elden ring recently too but nothing will ever compare to beating those games and I’d give anything to do it for the first time again.
technically my first souls game was ds3 when i played it high at my friends house but when he finally convinced me to play elden ring and i had to make multiple characters until i finally fell in love with the game and the series. that was a few months ago, now, i own every souls game except for sekiro and demon souls. i’ve never had an experience like playing a soulsborn game for the first time.

please more dark souls challenges
If they were saving the dogs I’d support them but the runebears have traumatized me
I hate Runebears
Five years from now, this will be remembered as the beginning of the end for Surfshark... Who wants to save runebears?? 😂
Me: "Maybe I should partake in one of these challenges myself"
*watches as the runners navigate Tomb of the Giants without any light*
Me: "On second thought..."
It’s not that difficult after a few attempts u just need to make sure u make a path and stick to it a hundred percent as its so easy to get turned around
It is easily the "easiest hard thing to do" is dark souls navigation. There is no timing as in Duke skip nor are you required to land in perfect spots as in Ceaseless skip, i'd say that if you try it 10 times (takes 15 mins with speedsouls) you'll get a good hang of it
@@ennedp6925 i wouldn’t even say difficult more just frustrating all u need to do is make sure u don’t rush
Honestly its not as bad a s it looks. Its definitely spooky but theres still enough queues on screen that you can get through it just fine.
it's actually one of the more comfy areas
Winning $1000 with the run where Pinwheel slaps you around is impressive by itself.
My friend made me buy them all on sale last holiday and I fell in love with them. These games had me making spreadsheets of the items so I could get every achievement. What a great series.
You don't need all weapons, just the rare weapons, check the wiki
@@herpderp4078 Thats still a lot of weapons to remember, I wrote them down lmao doing the trophy run right now
@@DADDA
Did you get it? If not, i have some tips that might help
@@babbisp1 yeah I got it, last one missing is all sorceries
@@DADDA been a couple months but have ya gotten all Sorceries yet? Also do Miracles and Pyromancies count for that achievement or are those separate?
@@minigooshey
Sounds great! I also just bought Elden Ring 😅 Was thinking of waiting, but it costs only 40 bucks atm so i grabbed it. First thing i have to do is make sure i have Playstation-buttons ingame. Bit of a hustle because you need a mod loader and 2 mods, but it's really important 😅
Can't wait to play it!
Exactly the same man. The first time you go to Majula stays with you forever.
majula is honestly the most beautiful thing in the soulsborne series
Love hearing positive experiences from DS2
Tears and nosebleeds jesus man
"Tears and nosebleeds" its a game bro 💀
My first souls game was DS1 and I was an absolute disaster. I almost gave up multiple times but slowly started to enjoy the pain. Until O&S where I wanted to give up again. But I pressed on and now it's probably my favourite game of all time.
I was like this with elden ring
So masochism
I never wanted to give up in any souls game but your still good
My was DS2, then DS3, until play DS1 and confirm: the first of trilogy always was the best.
I stopped playing DS1 for like a year but when my college friend got it I started playing again and we were kind of competing with each other to see how far we could get.
Woah, such good runs. Exactly what I did in my first playthrough
My first souls game was ds1 and it was so magical, never have I had a game make me feel so many emotions after I completed it. 11/10 game
My first souls game was bloodborne. I remember exploring yharnam for the very first time and having trouble getting past that first mob of yharnamites. It was such an awesome feeling when I found my first boss ever in a souls game, Cleric Beast, and even cooler when I discovered the sewers. The way the levels just flowed into one another was incredible and is part of the reason I love souls games so much.
my first boss was father gas
@Boco Corwin Man Shadow of the colossus on ps2 and Demons Souls on ps3 , what a vibe ^^
I mean older gamers might have other immersive titles that come to mind even older than those two, but those were my introductions to grimdark fantasy and what an introduction ^^
Can you share some of the tricks please?
Eventually I made it to the soul of cinder and finally beat the game it took me over 80 hours to clear ds3 on my first play through and Jesus was it an experience.
shortest 23 minutes of my life lol, souls speedruns are always so damn entertaining
That Nito recover was so wild. The fearless skeleton farming was also a wild move though. Really cool runs!
My first experience playing dark souls was playing Dark souls 1, I beat the asylum very easily and I progressed onto fire link. I ran into the cemetery over and over, dying over 20 times until I thought the game was stupid and I quit, and uninstalled
It was only until 2 years later until I returned and I found out the cemetery isn’t the only pathway.
My friend pressured me into buying during a sale, so we both played for our first time, chatting together in discord and getting our asses kicked by gundyr.. golden times
similar experience here
First playthrough was super weird, I was excited about it but wasn't expecting the game to be like it was.
My first souls game was elden ring I loved the mystery I felt while playing I loved finding new things and bosses it was truly a masterpiece
Thank you dark souls you will always have a special place in my heart.
first souls game was DS3, got crushed and had to adapt to the totally different style of play (I played FPS growing up). Now I mostly play sekiro
@@the_destroyer6579 awesome bro 👍🏻
Ds1 was the most beautiful experience of my life.
I was obsessed with every corner of map area and lore
I consumed every media related to that, I used to sleep and start thinking about what I would do next or what have I done, basically reciting it every day before sleep.
1 NG+ roadblock:
I didnt manage to be good enough for the DPS check at Four Kings, even after multiple attemps.
"Every second a runebear die"
I was waiting for you to say "but with your help, we can make that number bigger"
So far I'm most impressed by the 3 consecutive kicks. God these videos are so good.
My first souls game was eldering I spent 57 hours learning the game and fucking about but I did get to the fire giant
To this day any type of skeleton mob in souls games puts the fear of god into me
My first experience with dark souls was bad and I stopped playing quickly, but I did play elden ring a while later and it stuck with me and i beat it.
Like that game made me realize:
"hey, this games are not that scary after all, maybe i'll try the older ones."
And i completed the whole DS Trilogy, and almost finished Bloodborne.
