I love the idea of the rods ! I was thinking, if you had a hardware store you could take the noodle and get a piece of PVC the size you needed and use that . Might be easier to turn in a circle...
You kinda have to use a turner... the point is to allow the epoxy resin to “self level” and not dry uneven/bumpy. The issue isn’t having the cup horizontal and elevated... it literally has to be turning constantly for at LEAST 2 hours after the application of the epoxy.
No, you really don't need a turner at all. It makes life easier, but you don't have to have one. I've done tumblers since well before turners were even thought of. So, there was no other option than to flip back and forth or to do what I outlined here in the video.
I had another posted that I'd done a few years ago and I accidentally deleted it. There is another series of videos on wine glasses. I also have the one I accidentally deleted on my Facebook craft group, Crafting with Lora. Once joined, this is link to video. :-) m.facebook.com/groups/1120435051391584?view=permalink&id=1147987645302991
I tried doing my first one and it was a complete fail for me my issue is that the epoxy when I was spreading it on went over the lip of the cup and inside my cup and I’m not sure how to go about doing this without getting epoxy in my cup ? Should I not use such a thick layer ? Or like make sure I don’t epoxy too close to the edge ? I wanted to do glitter so I’m afraid if I don’t get the rim of the cup the glitter will flake off over time ? Can you please help me !? Thanks for the video and thank you for your time ! ☺️
lauren coll Its hard to say why it went into the cup. I normally just let my finger run off the end and it rarely gets inside. I don't put a really heavy layer on mine because I dont want the cup to be fat when it's done. If you have epoxy inside or over the rims, I think I uploaded a video on cleaning the rims. I usually clean after first layer of epoxy is cured and try not to get any over rim on final coat.
Lauren, you can also just get something big enough to put inside the cup so it seals the top. Or, cover the lid with a plastic bag and put the lid on it and seal the top :)
I normally do it for a few hours. You can increase the time between turning it after several flips. After that, I sit them upright and let them finish curing
Its Dragon Tears from Mamaboss Glitter. The glitter is actually pink! Seriously.. it's pink! Over the black spray painted base, it throws all kinds of awesome colors!!
Katherine Rodriguez I normally wait until it is dry so I can see if it needs sanding. If it does, I sand. Then wash, dry, apply my decals, wipe down with 91% rubbing alcohol and put final coat of epoxy on.
Shadya ... I am not sure of the number of times. I do it every few minutes for about 30 minutes, then stretch time between turns out as time passes. This method does take some baby sitting, but it is possible to apply epoxy well with this method. Just have to be patient. :-)
Hey, thank you so much for tutorial video, i really need this because i don't have enough money to buy a spinner. You're so creative ❤
You're very welcome!!!
I am so glad I found this. I was thinking I have to build what? Now I can start making cups then use the profits to buy a cuptisserie lol

Amber Hines thank you for the tips! :)
Caid's Creative Creations here on RUclips has a good video on how to get the epoxy out of your tumblers.
Very helpful, thank you. Could I ask, how long would I need to keep turning these, if using the manual method? x

@@craftingwithlora144 Many thanks.x
What glitter is on the one to the right?!?!

How long should you wait before applying 2nd coat of epoxy?

How many times do you turn ?
