Swirl tumbler
Просмотров 4,3 тыс.5 лет назад
Several products mixed in epoxy to tint or accent, applied on tumbler. Glitter used is Paris & Prism Shards by Backfist Customs on Etsy and a pink that is my own personal blend. Acrylic paint, Alumilite dyes, ResinTints, Mica powder and many other options may be used to color epoxy. I used FX Premium epoxy on this tumbler. Tumbler is 20 oz.

Hand turning - Application of epoxy without a cup turner - another method
Просмотров 44 тыс.6 лет назад
I prefer this method of hand turning when applying epoxy to a tumbler without a cup turnee/rotisserie. It's super easy, but does require babysitting & watching closely, especially in the beginning when epoxy is most fluid.
Epoxy application on tumbler without a cup turner (Rotisserie)

Although life is easier with the cup rotisserie, it definitely NOT required in order to make yourself s pretty tumbler. For any swirl techniques, I would use a cup rotisserie/turner.

Cool Waterslide Hack!
Просмотров 128 тыс.6 лет назад
Cool Waterslide hack I discovered by pure accident! You can also do this with your acrylic blank keychains! Files from SVG Salon. I hope this helps someone struggling with wrinkles and tears in waterslide!! ❤ Feel free to join in the fun on my Facebook group - Crafting with Lora - Tumblers, etc. PS....I'm so sorry it's sideways. The overhead shooting is kicking my butt.

Hey, thank you so much for tutorial video, i really need this because i don't have enough money to buy a spinner. You're so creative ❤
You're very welcome!!!
Love it❤Thanks for sharing.
do you mirror the image before printing
Happy accidents are always the best!
Isn't there a glue between the waterslide and paper? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I am fairly new at doing these
What kindif water slide paper you use
I like the paper from Hayes Paper Company.
What spray did you spray on it for it to stick?
So applying to a clear surface like this it works? That means clear decal paper sticks either side?
I placed it on the backside of a clear dollar tree cutting board. You can see it, but it really pops if you either paint the back or put white glitter, mixed in epoxy on the backside (glitter/epoxy applied like you would on a keychain)
I've looked almost everywhere, but do you think that taking acrylic paint to the back of the cutting board, in whatever color after the decal has dried, would keep it from being ruined overtime instead of using epoxy or resin?
I don't think acrylic paint will hold up long term unless it's not washed or gotten wet.
how can you add this to a car window
talk about happy accidents! Thank you for sharing.
Did you say you spray the fecal with clear coat? If so, what do you mean by that.
Spray decal with clear spray paint.
I like your images very much and would love to have them. Where did you purchase them? Thanks
Hi there. They are from svg salon
I swear those paints have a smell that stick around for weeks. I wouldn't be able to drink anything out of a tumbler with that terrible paint smell.
I'm trying very hard to put a full waterslide wrap on a tumbler. No matter how many times I try to get it on, it's wrinkling some and leaving a few air bubbles. I have tried and tried to get them out to no avail without tearing the waterslide and ruining it. I have sealed it 3 times with Rustoleum two times clear as well as doing a few coats of plastidip. Once I epoxy will it conceal the wrinkles and air bubbles any at all? I'm desperately trying to do this and getting very frustrated. Thank you for any help.
Do you have to epoxy it even if you aren’t doing glitter?
Before epoxy tumblers were a thing, I sealed with clear spray paint. Between each layer, I would bake in the oven at 200 for about 30 minutes. I can't suggest you do that since I don't know how safe it would be. I do know from the research we were all doing back then, it appeared safe. But, I honestly can't promote it.
@@craftingwithlora144 gotcha thank you 🙏🏻
@@britinig5850 You're welcome
This is great..thanks!
Don't show how you did the swirl!
There is another video. Part 2, which shows how to do that.
so nice
thank you!!
After the paint dries do I need to wash the outside before epoxying?
When I have done epoxy over paint, I do not wash the outside. Just be sure it's fully dry before epoxy.
This is great! I'll try it out! I got a glass cutting board but the bottom image has peeled off so I thought about the waterslides but I wasnt sure how to do it.
thank you so much! I only had to do one tumbler due to my oven messing up my sublimation 🤦♀️ so I did epoxy and do not own a tumbler. this video saved my order.
That is so awesome! Thank you for sharing that. It definitely made me smile!
Do you treat the glass before or after you apply the water decal?
I didn't.
I did put epoxy/white glitter mix over it, once it was dry. That helped the design really pop
What kind of pastor did you use?
Do you use sublimation ink to print it?
No, I used regular ink jet ink in Epson printer.
Great idea for a happy accident
That’s awesome 😎
You don't need to soak them, just place them and dab them with a damp cloth..
Is that a cake turner? Also, 220 is not rough, it’s fine. The lower the grit, the rougher the it is.
Yes, those could be used as a cake turner. I love those things, so many uses!
Hi everyone, can I get some help? :/ I am having massive printing issues. My printer leaves scratch marks all the time and sometimes the print is totally unusable. My printer back feed uses wheels that make contact with the ink on the paper and leave marks, and my front feed keeps bumping into curved or elevated surfaces on the paper, scratching the ink. Does anyone know how this can be solved? Many thanks in advance :)
Can you do this without epoxy?
Awesome thanks for sharing 👍
Love happy accidents
Do I need to seal it with clear spray before I epoxy it?
No. Just wipe down with alcohol to clean the tumbler, add very thin layer of epoxy and sprinkle glitter on. I saw your other comment about beading. Cleaning cup with alcohol mat help this. I've had some epoxy that just wasn't good to work with. It beads (fisheyes). Which epoxy are you using?
Iam new to this but when I put my epoxy on it started beading off like it would not stick what did I do wrong?
Awesome<333 New Subscriber!! Have a great day!!😊<333
Where do you get the decals?
I printed them on the waterslide. I use waterslide from Hayes Paper and got the designs from svg salon.
those are SOooooo CUTE!!!
What paper are you using?
PLOT TWIST 😱 this was a game changer just make sure to mirror the images
Wasting a lot of paint.
Just try this thanks so much
Awesome! You're welcome
I’m so glad you explained that because I was trying to figure out how to do it. I’m new working with water slides so I was thinking there’s some type of glue holding the picture to the backing so I had “mirroring” it on my Cricut. I definitely agree that it was a very happy accident!!! Very cute idea!!
That's great!! Thank you for the info! I am happy to see that you have such a great name... spelled the correct way! : )
For epoxy, I now use Counter Culture DIY - Artist Resin. I really love their products!
Does it matter what side of the decal sticks to the glass? Isn't the backing of the print supposed to adhere and not the front? It seems like this method causes the spray to adhere and not the decal itself. Although it's a great hack I'm confused about the process.
That’s the question I came here looking for. I agree with you surely the printed side that’s been sealed is now on the back of board and when you remove the paper backing you’d be left with the sticky residue that is meant to be put on the surface?? How do you remove the sticky from now the back of the board as that’s the side that is meant to adhere to the surface?
Yes, was thinking the same thing. I’m confused.
@@MadeWithMummyLove literally came for this question, sad there is no answer for it.
@@coleenehase1500 My answer, having tried it, is that it doesn't work. You are trying to stick the wrong side and the sticky side is left face up. You can try spraying it with varnish, but the sticky surface doesn't like it. MAYBE if you left it for a long time, so the bond was really strong, you could remove the unwanted adhesive with a solvent but the plastic of the decals is very fragile and lots of solvents would just dissolve it
Brilliant. OMG. Contact paper on bottom. $ store has cheap contact and the electrical tape will tack down while doing around. I love that pink. Your turntable is a great idea. Yr so smart🥰. TFS. Great video. ❤️🇨🇦
Thank you!
Im a beginner trying the glitter epoxy on the tumbler without a turner. Will it feel smooth in the end? Not so crumbly
I did lots of tumblers before turners were around and they came out really smooth. You just can't forget it and let it sit too long before turning it.
Great hack! How would you seal an image without using epoxy?
Great trick! How would you seal An image w/o using epoxy
