Very much like watching you work and providing demonstrations on how to achieve different goals and inspiring experimentation. 😍 I had a thought while watching this video. I like the freedom you paint with very much but for me I'd have to find a happy medium of freedom and control. I think that's where I'd be most comfortable. 🧡🧡🧡 Well Wishes for you and yours.
Hiya Marie Louise, Thanks very much for a great two part lesson. It's a perfect example of how to observe and translate a so called 'flat' landscape in to a lively and vibrant one. Take care, David.
Love the new format of painting the demo in real time and the running commentary you offer of your thoughts in the painting process. Can you share a preliminary sketch painting that evolves into a larger painting. Thank you so much for sharing your inspiration and painting process.
Our landscape is similar. We live in area of Ontario, Canada surrounding by working farms and fields. I've been painting from my photos but of late I'm not happy with just painting a realistic image. I definitely am inspired by your videos and will work at taking my art to the next level, a looser more semi-abstract style. Thank you.
Really enjoyed watching your process, I paint landscapes, often mountains which I love and not as loose as you but I am working on it. It enjoyable to see the flat lands, I shall have to try them as well.
I love your loose landscape videos...your work reminds me a lot of the late English painter Joan Eardley's work, which I find wonderful. Thank you for what you are putting out for us!
What an incredible compliment, thanks so much!! I love Eardley's work. Only discovered her work recently and it totally resonated with me. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and for your support :)
Love your approach and painting process, I'm from Scotland and have lots of inspiring mountains, at the moment I'm working on a cottage at the foot of a mountain and I've completely lost the middle ground but your paint mixing lessons have given me loads of ideas so I can't wait to get back to it now.thank you.😊
Great lesson, wonderful tips! For mixing paint as on pallet, someone suggested freezer paper which also allows for ease of disposal. I love the idea of re-using plastic lids before they go to recycling 👍
Thank you for sharing your process and also your 'eyes' as you see the landscapes where you live. I am watching all of the videos and some I am watching a few times. Actually I have to say in my opinion, this is a brilliant approach to abstract landscape painting. Regarding oils I have found a similar way of thinking about painting, with Stuart Davies. So I am watching his videos too. Your method and Stuart's, are freeing me from being trapped into technique and being intimidated by a blank canvas. I am looking forward more to painting now. Again, thank you so much and please keep sharing. PS I am working on Canola Fields here in the center of Canada at this time of year-the land is yellow from East to West and the sky is a pure blue, as far as the eye can see. So I'm trying to represent the feeling I get when I experience this landscape. Your videos have been helping me a lot and I enjoy your soothing calm presence, like a visit with an old friend.
Yes those canola fields are something else - I absolutely love the yellow against a blue sky. Or as contrast to dark rain clouds. I watch Stuart’s videos also. He’s such a generous teacher and I very much like his paintings and his personality. Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to leave a comment! Greetings from Denmark and happy painting! 🇩🇰🎨
I love your style and what a great way to loosen up with a large paint brush. I am going to attempt this tomorrow as I like landscapes but get caught up in the detail too much and I am a beginner so this is very helpful.
This was great...a great set of videos! It's always cool to hear what others are thinking as they paint...especially someone as talented as you!! When I first started teaching myself to paint, in particular on canvases, I assumed real artists jist walked up and amazing ideas came and their true artists hands just made it happen, so when I first looked at a canvas (and still do this) and my brain felt stuck i knew I'd never be a 'true artist'....I still don't think of myself as an artist as I'm not good enough.....but to know even the best question themselves or use reference images or sketch their idea onto the canvas first...that helped me a lot! Like I said, I still very much struggle with just feeling I'm not capable, but it's great to hear another thought process that might not be as different from mine then I had assumed :) and to just keep moving through it :) I love landscape, I take so many horizon, but mostly sky pic's my family just knows to let it happen when some gorgeous storm clouds roll in :) I'm in Tennessee in the u.s. and its hilly here and forest. There is a river a bit away. But mostly its sky as we drive or just outside forest pic's. I can send you different types of reference photos any time. My favorite place is the beach which is where we're originally from in Southern California....but Tennessee is beautiful in different ways, especially because it's affordable ;) aaahahahaha! Anyway, loved this! Would love to see how you scale up to large paintings...do you add more detail or still keep it nice and simple? Either way I know they're gorgeous. Thanks again!! Hope you had a good weekend!! We did!! Today...well, Sunday the 30th we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary!! We didn't have much to spend but we had each other and our grown son was home to celebrate with us so it was awesome!! Hope yours was as well!!!🥰🥰
Congratulations Jade, that's wonderful! We've had the most gorgeous weather here this past weekend so I finally got to sow and plant in the vegetable garden - I'm already dreaming of fresh homegrown salad, strawberries, peas etc yum! I'm glad you liked the video. I really want to show how the process is in real life (how it is for me, anyway) - the struggles, the ups and downs. How not all paintings are masterpieces and they don't have to be. Like you I always wished I had someone to look to, to get the inside story of art making. That's why I really like RUclips I've seen so many different artists sharing and working in different ways and it is SO inspiring. Thank you for watching and congrats again in your milestone together! :)
@@TheDanishPainter thank you so much!!! Oh thats sounds like a lovely weekend with loads of yummy stuff soon to come!! Yes, seeing all that helps so much! And RUclips is great for that!🥰
Hi, Loved your process, your explanation and your finished artwork, but it's the explanation and process that's particularly useful. Thanks so much. I really look forward to many more of your demonstrations. By the way, your English is virtually perfect. Probably better than mine....and I'm British! 😂 Thank you again.
Hallo, Trank you For Your Marvellous paintings! I have a problem. I take the color directly from the tube. I see that your colour is wet. Do you mix the color with water ? Thank you!❤
Thank you so much for sharing this, you are very talented. Question: My acrylic landscape painting started cracking/crazing one day after I painted it. How can I save painting or repair the crazing?
It sounds like your paper or paint might be the problem but it's a bit difficult to say without actually seeing your artwork in person. Did you paint on paper? May I ask to what brand of paint you are using?
Thank you Mary Louise. I really like your videos for their sincerity and insight. I have learned a lot from you.
So generous with information

Thanks for giving me hope that I can try your technique! LOVE the loose attitude with larger brushes!
I want to thank you for teaching these techniques. I 'm learning more from each video. Most of these I watch over again. This is pure joy.
That's great Theresa, I'm so glad they are helpful 🎨🌻
Nice painting demo 👍
Can you show on a larger canvas please thank you 😊
Wonderful demo Marie Louise. I learned so much from these two parts. Thanks heaps.
Hiya Marie Louise, Thanks very much for a great two part lesson. It's a perfect example of how to observe and translate a so called 'flat' landscape in to a lively and vibrant one. Take care, David.
Thank you David! 😃 Obviously it's no masterpiece but I feel it's important to show the process more than anything. Best, Marie Louise
Wow wow 👏
Will try the big brushes to force the loose painting enjoy seeing your pics from your lovely country

Yes freezer paper is a great idea, thanks Lynn! :-)
You are a very talented Artist. I like your painting style. You are a beautiful human being inside and out ...I love your abstract landscape pictures

your painting makes me happy..
I can learn and develop from friends here who watch and want to join my abstract work

It can feel a bit unnerving at first if you're not used to a larger brush but it gets easier - I promise. Happy painting :)

Hallo,
Trank you For Your Marvellous paintings!
I have a problem. I take the color directly from the tube.
I see that your colour is wet.
Do you mix the color with water ?
Thank you!❤
What are you achieving with the squiggy lines in the clouds? Just wondering.

No Wet Palette?
So inspiring, and the accent is unbelievably sexy. 😍 ❤️
