Using the iPhone 7 Plus for a "week" in Late 2022...

  • In this video, I took on a challenge to use the iPhone 7 Plus for one week while I waited for my iPhone 14 Pro Max to arrive from pre-order. Since it wasn't getting iOS 16, had an aging battery, and dwindling performance these days, was it still useful as my daily driver device?

    I’ve used an iPhone 7 for years now. And not just any iPhone 7, but a standard one.

    I still use a 2018 iPad 6 which is basically the same iPhone 7 specs in the body of a tablet and it's actually still doing very well even on the latest iOS update. It's not as fast as it was when i first got it (before iPad OS was even a thing) but it's the only tablet that managed to stay useful after such a long time compared to any other Android tablet i had before it. It sucks if you got a 32GB version phone/tablet because you only get 15 GB of usable space after installing the latest updates and it used to have way more than that before the updates

    I very much agree with all of your points here! iOS 16 is very much a bigger update compared to iPadOS 16, so maybe the iPad 5th generation would actually run the update better, with the update not having much content inside.
    iOS 15 is still perfectly fine and completely usable. Heck, you could even say the same thing about iOS 12, in some cases, since there are still some app developers that push updates to iOS 12. I'm currently using the iPhone SE 1st generation that you traded with me as a little "for fun" challenge, and it's a completely usable experience. I feel like we're getting to a time where having the latest iOS doesn't matter as much as it used to. iOS updates have been adding features slower and slower, and I feel that iOS is getting close to its peak. While yes, I do prefer iOS 16 over 15, 15 is still completely usable, and heck, my grandpa still uses an iPhone 7 Plus, same as yours, and an iPad mini 4, which won't even be getting iPadOS 16 when that releases later this year. I'd bet he'll still be happy with both of those for a year or two down the line, maybe even longer than that.
    Ultimately, great video as always, very happy to see you get some use out of that iPhone! It was my daily driver from 2016 to 2020, and it served me very well! Glad to see that it's still completely usable today. :)

    Is it safe to use 7 plus in 2023 ? does it still get critical security updates for security security issues?

    There wasn't much of a difference camera wise between the two phones, lmao!! iPhone 14 has a Glorified Camera, no Sim, no microSD, and my favorite, no headphone Jack. Apple charges more for Less.

    I’ve had my 7 Plus for almost 2 years now and may even use it for longer!

      how long does battery last ? how long is charging test ? and how many hours does it last in a day

    • @dave3970
      @dave3970 Год назад

      @@something2941 Seems to only last like 4 hours and takes a while to charge. But then again it’s old and I didn’t replace the battery. Also I don’t have the official apple charger so, that could be why it takes a while to charge. So if you get a new battery and official charger this phone is great still. I hope that answered your question.
