I bought my wife a 14 plus coming from an 8 plus. She really doesn’t care about the camera so much. She wanted a big bright phone. The biggest factor for us was the 14+ was in stock. And on the side she is absolutely thrilled with the battery life she says it is unbelievable.
Same here. I upgraded from 8+ and battery life is out of this world. If I had 13pro, i wouldn't upgrade no brainer. Next time I'm upgrading to iphone 20 haha
Yeah I am using it right now and its battery is unrealistic it superb and I too don’t give a dam about camera bcoz I am not that camera guy and I think the camera is great too
I chose the 14 plus over the Pro Max for a simple reason, after using my XR for the last 4 yrs, the upgrade is just so noticeable that after testing both the 14 pro max and the 13 pro max I couldn’t find a reason to spend the additional 200, because the 14 Plus fills my needs sufficiently, and I’m satisfied with my choice
I got a lighter phone, crash detection, my red color. I’d been wanting for years. iPhone 13 Pro was nowhere to be found. Still keeping my XSMAX, whether to sell it or give it away.
The price isn't important to me, but I choose the 14 plus because of the lower weight, and the fact that it sits better in the hand. It feels more 'handy'. And because of the new colors.
agreed, i upgraded from a 12 pro max to the 14 plus in purple - and i must say i'm impressed. at first i was a bit down as i read a lot of backlash on how upgrading from a pro model to a non one is stupid, or if you had a pro model you might as well go for the 14 pro max. however i enjoy this phone, i'm not a big fan of the dynamic island + the battery life on the 14 plus is amazing, can go two days with no charge.
I chose the 14 plus over 14 pro max. The extra camera doesn't really matter to me as the camera of 14 plus is still very good. You get the bigger screen, the cinematic mode, great battery, it's lighter and fits perfectly in my hand. I don't need the dynamic island and the always on display so why spend more.
I just got the 14 plus, didn’t have the extra 300 to spend on the pro. But I will say I love it, no complaints at all. Fast, holds charge really well compared to the 12 pro max I just upgraded from. Camera is great. Definitely one of the better moves they’ve made recently.
Yeah I got 13 regular last year and its been great as well. Honestly glad I didn't spend more just cause some fanatics kept claiming you need Pro. Everyone pretends to be professional photographer now 🤣🤣
@@teemuvesala9575 that’s very true lol, I can’t lie I’d like it, but I can’t justify it. This will do perfect for the videos and pics I need to take for my music. Apple is great but they are all about pointless releases lol
I have both and returned the 13 pro max. The weight is big difference for me. I thought the 12 pro max was heavy enough but after two weeks with the 13 pro max I had to return it. 🥲 Love the 14 plus because it’s a lighter phone with solid features. Happy with my purchase. 😊
I switched from the Galaxy Z Fold 3 to the 14 plus, and the biggest annoyance of the Fold was the weight. Carrying that brick around in my pocket all day got really annoying. The cameras and everything don’t matter that much to me, considering all I do is watch RUclips and play Clash Royale. The first day of use, yesterday, after about 10 hours of browsing Amazon and playing a few games here and there I got home with over 70% battery life. Super impressed coming from the Fold.
I can actually think of a single reason why iPhone 14 plus would be better. It’s very, very light - at 203g vs 240 for 14 pro max model, it evens beats 14 pro model which weights 206g. And that’s all, I believe. Thermal performance actually could also be an interesting thing, but it’s a subject for tests.
Yeah but I went to an apple store this past weekend and the weight while it is lighter isn't totally noticeable while holding both in either hand. For me, the 37g is worth the benefits that the pro max has to offer. I even swapped hands, I went with the pro max.
Nerds calling a phone that isn’t for them pointless is hilarious. This is the Xr all over again. Doom and gloom predictions at launch because nerds don’t want it but then the whole rest of the world goes to buy a phone and they buy the big cheaper one.
I went from the 12 Pro Max to the 14 Plus. The main thing that I miss from the Pro is the metal casing and weight of the phone. The Pro just feels more solid in my hands. I bought a nice case to protect my glass Plus phone, but it still makes me nervous 😅. Only time will tell…
The one thing to note is reception. I’ve noticed significantly better reception out of my 14 Plus over the 13PM. The pricing is the only thing that truly bothers me out of this phone.
Got my 14 plus yesterday from the 11 pro max and Love it.. I don’t need the cam, Dynamic island or game for 120hz. I’ll use until 15 comes out with design change and USBC. Great phone using on visible, easy transition too with Esim
I decided to buy the 14 plus 'cause I don't really care about the cameras of the 14 pro max, I just wanted a bigger screen and the paster purple one caught me hard, so I'm happy with my choice :)
The 14 plus is also for people who appreciate ease of repair. I will not be purchasing Apple Care and the 14 plus has been redesigned to be more simplistic to service. For people that keep their phones long term, the 14 and 14 plus are a great choice. This is good for the environment as well as the pocketbook.
I have the iPhone 14 pro max and even after seeing your review, then reading the comments, I wished I had gone with the 14 Plus. I really think it would have been perfect for me, and I am a person who watches the tech channels which talk about refresh rate, cameras, quality, etc. I thought they all mattered. I think the weight and battery life would have been better for me on the 14 Plus, not to mention the gorgeous light blue it comes in. I do not like the weight of the 14 pm and I don't take enough pictures to be that concerned. I had a 12 pro max and I had no problem with the refresh rate. My daughter has the 12 and she takes great pictures with that little guy.
Thank you for mentioning the gorgeous light blue. I just ordered one today and was wondering whether I shouod have gotten the purple instead. Your comment made me appreciate the light blue even more.
I came from android (OnePlus 9 pro) and MAN, I gotta say I’m in love with the 14 plus. The battery life is literally mind blowing. Love only having to charge my phone when I sleep and not have to charge my phone midway through day
My wife has OnePlus 9 pro. Very good phone, only one think Which eliminated the phone for myself..short .battery life. I am using Pocophone F3. The phone is perfect, battery life average but spec top, very smooth, I went up to apple store as I need to change the phone for something new. The only reason why I picked iPhone 14 plus is the battery life. ios is so much limited comparing to android and this is big pain. I can do totally everything on android, have modified Spotify and RUclips. All premium thinks for free, downloading all contents etc. Unfortunately iOS doesn't allow those things....
Dude, I must give it to you. Your patience and perseverance in running the tests are quite something. Well done and great info thanks. I just got the 14 Plus switching from Android and well... extremely pleased and not sorry.
I ordered the 14 plus after watching this. They are 3 weeks behind, and purple was out of stock, and not gonna be sent when mine was shipped. Really wanted purple but after watching this I’m committed. I’m going from an iPhone 7 Plus to the 14plus.
I think the 14 plus is a pointless model. The mini was a better option because it gave another choice in size, and while it didn’t have the greatest sales, those that have it generally love it. If you’re gonna spend the extra money to get the biggest iPhone, you might as well spend a bit more and get the pro max and leave the mini on the table. Edit: I don’t own a mini, I have a 13 pro max, just something I’ve gathered from those I know that would like a 14 but wished it came in the mini format.
I would seriously consider a mini iPhone if I knew apple would continue making it and I wouldn't have to adjust to the bugger model later on anyway to have the latest iPhone.
Nothing wrong with liking smaller phones, however I don’t think those of you who do like the smaller phones have any clue how niche, and truly small of a group you are in this day and age. No business is going to keep selling something that the MAJORITY of people aren’t buying. It’s not like Samsung makes an S22 mini. They know it won’t sell. This isn’t a mobile electronics thing either. Every single business does this because it would be suicidal not to. So don’t get mad at Apple for not catering to the minority of sales. If the mini was truly a better option, then Apple would still be selling it.
I think we as consumers will never be truly satisfied. Personally , its a great model for my middle aged parents who wanted a bigger phone but not the cutting- edge features. My mom is planning to upgrade from 8 plus to 14 plus moreover, Apple should have started the line from 699$.
I recently bought the 14 plus as I wanted the bigger screen. Don't care about the camera so couldn't justify the extra 300 for the pro max and absolutely love it, so I am extremely happy with my choice.
I’ll tell you what people WIlLL most definitely notice with the 14 Plus EVERY day, is the ‘fact’ it’s around 40 grams lighter! Don’t mention it though do you…
I just switched from a Pixel 6 to the iPhone 14 Plus and I'm really happy with it. I would consider myself quite tech savvy but the iPhone 14 Plus just made more sense for me. The software-side implementation of the dynamic island is neat, but I still find the small notch less intrusive, especially with full screen content. The switch from 90hz on the Pixel to 60 on the iPhone is noticable but I really don't mind it too much. Everything else the 14 Pro Max provides over the 14 Plus (better camera, slight performance uplift with the A16, always on display) just doesn't matter to me for my usecases at all. For me the iPhone 14 Pro Max would have been an extra 300€ over the 14 Plus where I live for a slightly smoother display and otherwise features I don't nned or care about.
Same here, I’m tech savvy, I use the m1 MacBook Pro and the m1 iPad Pro, but for my phone I only care about screen size and battery life, so the iPhone 14 plus is perfect and 200$ is not nothing.
3:44 Apple still has LPDDR4X-4266 memory in the 14 Plus, I suspect the memory difference is due to the storage Apple uses being faster in the 14 Plus than in the 13 Pro Max (I don't mean that the 14 Plus does swap faster than the 13 Pro Max as swap doesn't exist on iOS, but that some thing may be loading faster from the storage to memory when, say, scrolling through an app, opening a photo, etc. or it's just run to run variation. Also 4:24 The improved cooling system will make itself more apparent when both the CPU and GPU are under load, or if you extend 3DMark to an hour, people generally won't boot up a 3D game and only play it for 20 minutes. Proper thermal stress tests from the RUclips channel Geekerwan showed significant differences between even the smaller 14 and 13 Pro Max in terms of thermal thottling (in favor of the 14).
The 14 Plus offers Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via Satellite, which I don't believe comes on any prior models. For my elderly parent who takes their phone with them everywhere but will not wear the Apple Watch - this adds a big comfort factor and a little piece of mind as they drive. Not sure if I missed this in your comparisons.
I actually care and want this phone. My only issue is that it's priced $100 too high. Even at $799 it's expensive but more reasonable. Apple really shot themselves in the foot. Haven't learned since the 13 Mini initial pricing.
PRICING IS WHY 14 Plus sales are not as expected. In both scenarios: 1) If you pay via monthly carrier credit, the delta between 14 Plus v. 14 Pro Max is small and buyer would get better phone for only few dollars more per month; 2) If you pay full boat for the phone at the price of 14 Plus, most people in that case would simply pay the $200 more to get the better 14 Pro Max. Either way, the pricing delta is not high enuf to influence purchasing decision. The spread needed to be more like $400.
You forget that not a lot of people want to wait the month or two it is taking to get the pro or the pro max variants- hence why I got the plus. And I haven’t been disappointed one bit.
Just got the 14+ at Costco. I’m upgrading from an iPhone 7 so I’m hyped. Costco also currently has a deal where the phone costs $5 a month for 36 months so it’s basically like a $180 dollar phone.
Thing is...the 14's have several additional cellular bands in them...thus a little more future proofing. I have a 14 Plus because I wanted the big screen without all the weight. Don't need another camera lens, and don't care about ProMotion...just want a phone that works well.
Man, it’s kinda crazy how many reviewers aren’t about this phone. I think it’s really cool and honestly, if it was available at the same time as my 14PM was, I might have bought it. A cheaper phone with a bigger screen that’s also light weight and has 75% of the camera capability of the 14PM? PLUS similar battery?? Come on. That’s really cool.
@@lukemiani Oh, for sure, if you’re going to buy the phone outright, but carrier deals can greatly change that. ATT offered $1k off for a trade in towards my 14PM but nothing off the 13PM. I think this will be the reality for most people and why Jon will inevitably be right about the phone come next year
@@lukemiani If I had used other Apple phones before I might think like you, however the 14 plus is my first iPhone, coming from having a Samsung phone for many years so the bigger screen, good battery life was all I wanted. In Australia the PMax is $300 more so couldn’t justify that when I don’t care about the additional features 😊
@@lukemianiBut the previous generation of iPhone has no "Crash Detection" "Emergency SOS" "Improve Camera Features" and "Longer Battery Life" so I guess, its fair enough.
I think the 14 plus is awesome and a great idea. The problem just simply comes down to price. These phones are just already so expensive and if you’re already paying flagship prices of 8,900 plus dollars you might as well spend 1000 or 1100. If they knocked down the regular 14 to like a 700 dollar price tag and made the 14 plus 800 boom thats an actual price difference that would sway me to maybe get the plus over a pro or pro max. I theorize that the plus will do better next year if Apple keeps up the same strategy they’ve been doing the past few years and keeping the last two years of phone’s in the lineup and knocking a hundred bucks off. When the 14 plus hits that 800 dollar point o think it’ll sell better.
@@Metamine0 the price have to go down on IPhone 12, IPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 can’t be to close to iPhone IPhone 13 prices don’t act like iPhone 12, IPhone 13 mini and IPhone 13 not in iPhone lineup
In europe is crazy expensive, more expensive than fold 4, I paid 1600$ for my pro max, atleast in the us is 400-300$ cheaper, dont see why people complain so much in the us.
Well, I would definitely go to the 13 Pro Max over the 14 Plus. The problem is that Apple just stop selling the "Pro" models whenever a new lineup come out, so that's the problem to find a new one. But, of course, is a sale strategy from them.
But people may want the plus if they're not a camera fanatic, want something lighter (pro max is heavy af), and better better life. Sacrificing some features most people wont care about if you get the plus and save a few hundred dollars.
Just picked mine up today. I had the 13 mini before. I enjoyed its form factor, but I watch too much media on my phone to justify the small screen and poor battery life of the mini. This 14 plus is huge compared to it, but it’s perfect for me until the usb-c iPhones come out.
One other customer category you missed for purchasing the iPhone 14+. And a real life example as well. My iPhone 12 Max Pro is stolen on Thanksgiving Day.. All attempts to get it returned or found fail. I need a replacement phone now, Only option available to replace this phone on Black Friday? You guessed it. iPhone 14 +.
i just bought a 14 plus coming from a s22 ultra i feel like the higher refresh rate on a phone is not that big of a deal i dont notice a diffrence anymore
$899 is still incredibly expensive for a non pro phone with 60 hz. The regular iphone is already still too expensive for what it offers, or doesn't offer for that matter. Iphone Mini finally offered something Premium that was less than 800 dollars. That's why we bought it. I really hope Apple makes the 13 mini the new SE.
I get the feeling Apple purposely didn't release a big screen non-Pro iPhone because they wanted to perfect ProMotion. Once you compare 120Hz ProMotion to 60Hz non-ProMotion, there's no comparison.
I actually think the opposite (this showing apple's expertise in creating smooth UI). I'm experienced with framerates, as I worked in animation, and I decided to send back my iPhone 14 Pro after a week of use. I thought I was going to hate going back to my 13's 60hz but surprisingly, that wasn't the case.
@@jippalippa I get the feeling the real reason you returned the 14 Pro, is because you didn't notice a huge difference between the 2 phones. Apple is changing their strategy in which the newest phones aren't meant to tempt last year's buyers, but instead go after people with like 4+ year old phones. For them, everything will feel like a huge upgrade.
@@coolguy5555551 Not really, I tested the 14 pro max in store yesterday and I have to say that appart from the camera and battery life of course nothing felt like a real upgrade from my old Xs which already had an oled screen. Nothing at all.
I just got my 14+ like two weeks ago and I do love it a lot. youre also exactly right with your little scenario at the end. thats pretty much how/why I ended up picking this phone.
I had the iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro, and I got the iPhone 14 Pro and I would totally agree with what you said Luke. The 13 Pro in my opinion feels exactly the same and my new iPhone 14 Pro in day to day use, well that's not exactly true, the 13 Pro was faster in a lot of use cases and less glitchy over all but that could be sue to IOS 16 and not the phone. For me other than the Dynamic Island it is for all intents and purposes the same phone, inside and out, well except for maybe a new color, but big whoop! I couldn't care less personally about color. I only real reason I got the 14 Pro is because I am signed up for the iPhone upgrade program otherwise I would have never upgraded. Keep up the great vids Luke.
I remember everyone saying the 14 Plus was a great idea & how it’s going to sell like hotcakes & how it’s way better than the mini. The problem with the 14 plus though is simple. It’s only $100 cheaper than the 14 Pro, & just $200 from the mac daddy 14 Pro Max. I think most people would rather fork out the extra hundo or 2 for the Pros. Also, they might even rather just pay the same price for a refurbished/used 13 Pro Max which are excellent phones
Less of a device issue and more a price issue. Discount 400$ off the 14 plus across the board and more will buy it. Personally give me a 5.4 inch with 4000 mah battery size or a little more at under 1000 Canadian and I will buy it.
Actually when people said that, there was no ProMotion on the iPhones. ProMotion is a game changer, and we can pretty much expect ProMotion to stay on the Pro devices. It even has the word "Pro" right in its name. If ProMotion were to somehow go down to the non-Pro devices, it'll cannibalize the Pro devices.
In my case I bought a new, sealed package iPhone 13 pro max for 975 bucks. If I’m gonna pay 900 bucks for the 14 plus, I can gladly pay less than 100 additional bucks to get a better camera, better battery life, and overall more premium materials. This is why I went for the 13 PM 1 month ago. The only advantage I see on the iPhone 14 plus is the weight, the 14 plus is far lighter than the 13 pro max.
An excellent example of proving to people that you have to define your needs and then buy only what is needed to achieve those needs. Simple as that. Given that the vast majority of pictures are record shots and never get printed, there is no need to waste your money on more expensive cameras. Your series 14 is more than adequate.
Nice review, but one very important thing you did not mention is the weight difference between the Pro Max models and the 14 Plus. The Pro Max models are not very comfortable using them whole day in your hand. They are just crazy heavy, for me the reason to go for the Plus version.
Hands down the best review I have seen. Real world testing is what matters. Thank you. The only comment I like to make is the weight differences. I went from 13 Pro Max to 14 Pro because the weight on 13 Pro Max got annoying. I wish Apple would make a Pro phone with aluminum. I personally don’t care about the steel sides. I bet 95% of the people out there including me, put the phone in a case.
man how many times had the batt replaced in 6s+? 😂 My 6s plus still works as a charm actually but my current 10s plus is what I am planning to replace. If you ask me, my 10s plus can still work for another 2-3 years. The new update makes it feel brand new.
Omg. Same here. I used my 6s+ for almost 7 years and some parts of my lcd just dimmed all of a sudden so i decided to upgrade to 14+ and i never been so happy 😊
im very happy with my 14 plus its like getting the best of both with not so ripped off price i love how the other guy reviewed about 14 plus do on point
Your description at the end of the video is exactly what happened to me and my wife my wife’s 8+ started to do the black screen of death so she wanted to upgrade and I told her to pick which one she wanted and she picked the cheaper option of the two since the differences were so minor
honestly, i've had no problem with my iphone 11 up until last week when i got a concussion and simultaneously smashed the hell out of the poor thing. im not spending $1k+ on a phone, and trading my broken iphone 11 in for an iphone 14 plus only ended up costing less than $200 🤷🏻♀️ im sure i'll be happy with such a big upgrade, especially because i was previously happy with my iphone 11. it's coming monday 🎉
in a country like india where the normal iphone 14 starts at $1000 and the pro models starts at $1600 it makes more sense to buy the 14 plus since it’s only $1100. i am very interested in the tech world and a big fan of apple in general but knowing the problems in the 14 pro series (the camera, the battery and the dynamic island issues) which i know will be fixed in software updates eventually, i went for the 14 plus because even with all that it’s not worth the $500. Also let’s not forget the markup pricing in europe and all that drama. the plus series might be the better option in other countries.(ps: i went with purple instead of blue. u should really try the purple).
@@sarthakjaiswal8135 it’s way too much money. I really like my Air pods pro and use them every day. I would never pay $249 for them. There are plenty of other options. Sony makes a good product as well as Samsung. There many other brands that don’t cost that much. Like I said I use them every day. So I feel that I got my money worth. I listen to music, books and podcasts. But I only use one at a time when am outside. It’s easy to lose one when you turn them off to have a conversation. So…
@@RbAgsts718 I love my AirPods too but I’m just saying not everyone is as blessed as me who can actually afford there products. Plus the population here is mostly poor who can’t actually afford them (which is part of the reason why the SE products do well here)
What about repairability ? The 14 series has much better repairability with with the screen and back panel. They probably still do software blocks, but its still something to consider when choosing between the 14 plus and the 13 Pro Max.
Just ordered a 14 plus midnight 256GB yesterday. To be honest. Majority of the 14PM owners doesn't even use the three lens to its full potential at all. I took better photos than my pro max friends using iPhone 11. Owned 13 mini for a brief while. While I love it's compactness and one handed use, the media consumption and actual enjoyment is not there at all plus poor battery life. 14 plus is the way to go if you value Battery life. Media consumption. Weight distribution.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max has the prior generation Bluetooth, Version 5.0, and an older version of the QCOM modem for cellular connectivity. Thus, a good battery test to compare the 13 Pro Max to the iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Plus would be to stream some audio to a BT headset while transferring lots of data over the cellular network and concurrently running a stress test. I believe that the WiFi SOC is the same for all devices so any connectivity related tests would not show any power consumption differences when WiFi is used.
I just got my 14+ earlier today, coming from an iphone xr user. I also watched a few comparison videos and reviews about 14 pro max and 14+ before making a decision which phones to get. Figured I didn't need the whole bells and whistle that 14 pro max has and decided to go with 14+ instead.
I have iPhone 14 plus 256GB purple I am Fully satisfied A15 chip vs A16 chip power difference is only 5% A15 chip have 15 billion transistors while A16 have just 16 billion transistors every year power difference is upto 25% but this year only 5% so 14 plus is also pretty good.
The only thing that could change anything at this point , would be if they made a camera that could take pictures and video at a long distance. They concentrate too much on selfies, vs actual function in that aspect.
I have my 14 plus in blue. For me the weight is important and find the pro max phones too heavy. The battery is brilliant on my plus and no issues with the camera. More importantly it’s not as expensive!
I upgraded from an iPhone X Max from 2017 to the new iPhone 14 promax this year and the difference is literally amazing that’s all I can put it for that. It’s literally super bright and very well exposed and has a lot more detail even in just standard 12 megapixel mode are use 48 megapixel mode for everything and I’m not gonna turn it off but 12 megapixels were still way better for the 14 then it was with the 10 max from 2017. Amazing how a six-year-old design and 85 year old phone can make a difference for an upgrade.
You nailed the target customer. It’s me. Same color too. I traded up from an 8+ 256gb to a base 14+ because I didn’t want the dynamic island. The small notch doesn’t bother me in the least. I just lament that we’re still on lightning for Christ’s sake. I feel like for $900 I could have had faster USB speeds.
14 pro max 240 gramms. 14 plus 203 grammas. Is not only for the Better price. 240 gramms and back cover Is 260 gramms. For what? For Better refresh rate and tele photo Lens? No tanks. Iphone 14 plus all the way
I appreciate the time and effort you put into this along with the logical approach and analysis. Of course, Apple has no incentive to price the 14 Plus where it really should be or add the high refresh screen to it, as that would cut into 14 Pro and Pro Max sales.
@@lukemiani wow, the iPhone 14 PLUS along with the iPhone 12 and 13 mini have been the most hated iPhones of recent times nobody wants to buy them, no one cares about them, even Apple themselves.
iPhone 13 Pro is not available at Apple Store (in Canada). I could only get iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. iPhone 14 is only C$100 more expensive than iPhone 13 but iPhone 14 Pro is C$300 more than iPhone 14 (I was not interested in Max models). I chose iPhone 14 upgrading for iPhone 11. All the small but significant differences between iPhone 14 and 13 (such as better cameras and more RAM) plus the better trade in value in the future we’re worth C$100 for me. Cheaper repairs of iPhone 14 alone were worth the difference. Faster LTE downloads and uploads, and better Bluetooth mattered too.
Did you know in China 🇨🇳 it comes with a headphone jack and a sim tray. They need to do that because otherwise they won’t sell one phone. Nobody in China has air pods. Why do I know this? It’s because my ex girlfriend works for Alibaba. It’s one of the biggest companies in China 🇨🇳 and they have American employees. She is pretty much stuck there because of the zero Covid policy. She sent me a picture from one of the biggest airports in the country. At nine pm there were no people and nothing open. The airport was deserted.
Bought my iphone 14 plus red yesterday. So far I love it’s lighter than my previous phone and camera quality is really good. Plus you get the photonic engine which I see a huge difference from my old phone. I also play Diablo Immortal on all high settings and I have 0 lag and overheat issues. I played intense game modes for 20 mins and Battery didnt drain much at all.
same i got mine in red couple days ago and i’m loving it. i had an 11 and i’m honestly loving this phone. i don’t really care about having pro features nor do i even need pro features
I got the iphone 14 plus as an upgrade for my dad's hand me down iphone se 2. I absolutely love it. Been using it for about 9 months. Amazing battery life.
One thing to consider when you're mentioning the battery difference. You say "it's only a 5% difference", right? That 5% is almost exactly what apple is saying in the audio playback. The Pro Max has 95 hours and the Plus has 100 hours?
I’m at 3hr screen time with 85% left on my 14 plus, so the battery life is excellent. The weight is substantially less compared to the brick in the 11/12/13/14 pro max, and it has matte aluminum sides which I prefer more over the fingerprint-y SS. The notch is minimal and arguably less intrusive than dynamic island. The speakers are on par with the 14 pro max according to GSMArena, and they do indeed sound great with actual lows (40-100hz), mids and highs. Having it in hand and actually using it makes me question if I’d like a used 13 pro max more, which was the other phone I was considering. I don’t think I would have because of the weight and fragile feeling, plus the purple on the 14 plus is probably my favorite iPhone color yet. The only thing the phone is truly missing for me is the telephoto lens and a SIM card slot. Otherwise it is an excellent phone in all other aspects. I understand the hate and I am not defending it at all but I don’t regret buying it either. Coming from the iPhone 11 Pro Max
Think you are missing one of the most important aspects of a mobile phone, ergonomics. Yes it is subjective, but for some of us very important. I've owned a 13 Pro Max, 14 Pro, and a 14 Plus. The 14 Plus feels way better then the other 2 in my hand. The weight different is very noticeable, even compared to the 14 Pro. I think the mind sees a bigger object and assumes it will weight more so even though the different between a 14 Pro and 14 Plus is only 3 grams, in real world scenario it feels much lighter. Besides the wide and telephoto missing, almost all camera's take good enough photos. Comparing photo quality of smartphones is overrated. A good photo is based on composition, lighting, and subject matter. Not the Minuscule differences in perceived photo quality.
i bought 14 plus and its very good.Except additional camera its give everything that has been offered by 13 pro max at a faaaaaaaar better price. very good phone. Big screen looking superb at low cost dolby atmos. beautiful camera shots. great BATTERY LIFE. great gaming perfomace. Everything at a small price compared to 13 pro max
if the prices were: iPhone 14 - £699 iPhone 14 Plus - £799 iPhone 14 Pro - £999 iPhone 14 Pro Max - £1099 it'd be perfect. between the non pro and pro models it should've had a 200 pound difference.
Really impressed with iPhone 14 plus purple one it’s the best one ever I can say with large screen and lite weight finally love iPhone 14 plus purple colour 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I disagree. When you suggest the user get a 13 instead of the 14 Plus, the 13 Pro Max is discontinued in the Apple Store, and most folks going there to get a biggest iPhone at the best price will have only one choice: the 14 Plus. And the difference weight wise is also significant with the 14 Plus being much lighter, which a lot of people may prefer.
Lol w people commenting on the downgrade. I previously got an iPhone 12 pro max but swapped it for a 12 pro bec man 12PM is just too heavy for me. Switching now to 14 plus bec I realized that I didn’t use the pro features of a pro iPhone. I want a bigger screen but light weight. Telephoto, Macro shot, ProRes? I won’t use it on a daily basis. Taking photos/videos is not my job and 14P’s photos/videos look good anyway so what’s the fuzz? Lol Pro motion? Not a gamer and I don’t watch videos on my iPhone, got an iPad and MacBook for that. tbh 14P’s screen is not that bad.
I will hold onto my 12 mini till Apple decided to release another mini phone. Still hoping that the mini iPhone update cycle will match mini iPad instead of Apple just stop making it
@@The-ZebraFinch-Channel Many people are saying the next SE will use the mini chassis, which has a historical precedent when the original SE used the smaller iPhone 5s chassis ... Time will tell ... The 13 mini is still available, and I've been tempted. But lack of great cameras and so-so battery life caused me to instead upgrade to 14 Pro ...

And they say size don’t matter?
Yeah I am using it right now and its battery is unrealistic it superb and I too don’t give a dam about camera bcoz I am not that camera guy and I think the camera is great too
same the upgrade was definitely worth it
I chose the 14 plus over the Pro Max for a simple reason, after using my XR for the last 4 yrs, the upgrade is just so noticeable that after testing both the 14 pro max and the 13 pro max I couldn’t find a reason to spend the additional 200, because the 14 Plus fills my needs sufficiently, and I’m satisfied with my choice
Similar sitch with myself.
me too
I got a lighter phone, crash detection, my red color. I’d been wanting for years. iPhone 13 Pro was nowhere to be found. Still keeping my XSMAX, whether to sell it or give it away.
I did too and becuase the plus camera ok for what I am us8ng it for
Same here, been using XR since Feb. 2019, and upgraded to 14plus.
The price isn't important to me, but I choose the 14 plus because of the lower weight, and the fact that it sits better in the hand. It feels more 'handy'. And because of the new colors.
bro had to hit the flex real quick
agreed, i upgraded from a 12 pro max to the 14 plus in purple - and i must say i'm impressed. at first i was a bit down as i read a lot of backlash on how upgrading from a pro model to a non one is stupid, or if you had a pro model you might as well go for the 14 pro max. however i enjoy this phone, i'm not a big fan of the dynamic island + the battery life on the 14 plus is amazing, can go two days with no charge.
@@brockcampbell9025 haha
Bingo
Same. I purchased a 14PM on launch and didn’t like the weight or dynamic island so ended up returning it and picking up a 14 plus a few months later.

@JiroNeedsARebrand I got the 14 pro max coming from Samsung a70 , very happy with upgrade. I can say the same
Don’t forget about the weight difference between the iPhone 14 Plus and the 13 Pro Max. I prefer the lighter phone.
They’re both heavy af

Which camera better
@@go_423 one has two lenses, one has three. Which do u think?
Yeah but I went to an apple store this past weekend and the weight while it is lighter isn't totally noticeable while holding both in either hand. For me, the 37g is worth the benefits that the pro max has to offer. I even swapped hands, I went with the pro max.

I went from the 12 Pro Max to the 14 Plus. The main thing that I miss from the Pro is the metal casing and weight of the phone. The Pro just feels more solid in my hands. I bought a nice case to protect my glass Plus phone, but it still makes me nervous 😅. Only time will tell…
me too, i wasn't expecting the glass
The one thing to note is reception. I’ve noticed significantly better reception out of my 14 Plus over the 13PM. The pricing is the only thing that truly bothers me out of this phone.

The reception is important to me.
Lower weight as well and I will use a case anyways.
Reception?

@@corbinthornbury1694 Was easy for me.
That’s what I’m saying I don’t really care about all that other stuff I’m ordering mines today
Here is a second reason for the 14 Plus aside form the price. The weight. You get a larger screen at the weight of the smaller pro iPhone.
For people that keep their phones long term,
the 14 and 14 plus are a great choice. This is good for the environment as well as the pocketbook.
Are pro max models not good for long term ? (4 years)?
If you want the biggest display relative to the weight, get the 14 plus. Simple.
The 14 plus has a much better battery and a larger screen than the 14 pro, most people would rather that
Nothing wrong with liking smaller phones, however I don’t think those of you who do like the smaller phones have any clue how niche, and truly small of a group you are in this day and age.
I agree, I have a 13 mini and I love it
I think we as consumers will never be truly satisfied.
A great upgrade, except the 60hz screen from the 90 on the pixel 6 is a bit of a downgrade

My only issue is that it's priced $100 too high. Even at $799 it's expensive but more reasonable. Apple really shot themselves in the foot. Haven't learned since the 13 Mini initial pricing.
Lol trying buying it unlocked in NYC from Apple directly. $1039 after taxes for the base model
@@jenniferstewart1330 Yes, that has changed since the original vid and my comment. At that time, wasnt as constrained as now.

Come on. That’s really cool.
my issue is just that it's pricepoint is so close to getting the previous gen Pro Max with more features that I would rather just do that tbh
@@lukemiani Oh, for sure, if you’re going to buy the phone outright, but carrier deals can greatly change that. ATT offered $1k off for a trade in towards my 14PM but nothing off the 13PM.

I love mine and….it’s got a SIM tray. I’ve just upgraded from an iPhone X, so the battery life is much better too.

Personally give me a 5.4 inch with 4000 mah battery size or a little more at under 1000 Canadian and I will buy it.
i think thats the point of the Apple pricing strategy. Ultimately, Apple want to sway more people to the Pro line
In Germany, the 13 Pro NEW can be found at the same price as iPhone 14 (same for the bigger ones). And in that case the 13 Pro is a much better value
That transition was so smooth 🤩 1:12
Let's talk.
An excellent example of proving to people that you have to define your needs and then buy only what is needed to achieve those needs.
Simple as that. Given that the vast majority of pictures are record shots and never get printed, there is no need to waste your money on more expensive cameras.
Your series 14 is more than adequate.
I care! I have one, and I love it. That battery life is beyond incredible. I can go half of the week without having to charge it.
Coudn't get past how chunky it was after the case. Returned.
I had a 6s+ and I love my 14+ and I believe that it’ll last me as long as my 6s+ did.
man how many times had the batt replaced in 6s+? 😂 My 6s plus still works as a charm actually but my current 10s plus is what I am planning to replace. If you ask me, my 10s plus can still work for another 2-3 years. The new update makes it feel brand new.
@@earlnoli - My 6s+ didn’t have enough memory to hold my banking apps. I do miss the button though. The camera upgrade is very nice on the 14+
Omg.
I really appreciate it, Luke. But it's me who doesn't care about promotion or telephoto but only care about a bigger screen with cheaper price!! :P
Well,I prefer 14 plus because it is much lighter. So simple is that.
Let's talk.
honestly, i've had no problem with my iphone 11 up until last week when i got a concussion and simultaneously smashed the hell out of the poor thing. im not spending $1k+ on a phone, and trading my broken iphone 11 in for an iphone 14 plus only ended up costing less than $200 🤷🏻♀️ im sure i'll be happy with such a big upgrade, especially because i was previously happy with my iphone 11. it's coming monday 🎉
damn, hope you’re feeling better. I also upgraded to a 14 plus from an 11 and I couldn’t be happier. the battery life is phenomenal!
in a country like india where the normal iphone 14 starts at $1000 and the pro models starts at $1600 it makes more sense to buy the 14 plus since it’s only $1100. i am very interested in the tech world and a big fan of apple in general but knowing the problems in the 14 pro series (the camera, the battery and the dynamic island issues) which i know will be fixed in software updates eventually, i went for the 14 plus because even with all that it’s not worth the $500. Also let’s not forget the markup pricing in europe and all that drama. the plus series might be the better option in other countries.(ps: i went with purple instead of blue. u should really try the purple).
The 14 in Europe and Asia come with a SIM card and a headphone jack. So you don’t need to spend $249 on air pods.
@@RbAgsts718 let’s not talk abt the fact that the AirPods Pro cost around $450 in india 😂😂😂
@@sarthakjaiswal8135 I paid way less than the $249 suggested price. I would welcome a headphone jack.
Apple's "better cooling" is just removing the SIM card tray. Now there's more room for heat to circulate/dissipate inside the case! :)
When he said “the iPhone 14 Plus is probably for someone who still has an iPhone 8 Plus” my heart dropped
SO YES IVE GOT AN IPHONE 8 PLUS
Just ordered a 14 plus midnight 256GB yesterday. To be honest. Majority of the 14PM owners doesn't even use the three lens to its full potential at all. I took better photos than my pro max friends using iPhone 11.
Owned 13 mini for a brief while. While I love it's compactness and one handed use, the media consumption and actual enjoyment is not there at all plus poor battery life.
14 plus is the way to go if you value
Battery life.
Media consumption.
Weight distribution.
14 plus is way lighter, the main reason I chose it,,, I am not in the "unknowing" population category 🙂
I’m getting a full 2 dAYS battery life with my 14 plus…I had an 11 pro max and I’ve never had a battery as good as this..nearly as good as my iPad!
Someone still have old iPhone they use Touch ID they get one of the iPhone 13 series or one of iPhone 14 series that a big jump for some people
I have my 14 plus in blue. For me the weight is important and find the pro max phones too heavy. The battery is brilliant on my plus and no issues with the camera. More importantly it’s not as expensive!
I agree, and price in EU is more different then in USA, iPhone 13 Pro Max cost more for 500 $ than iPhone 14 plus, and that is big difference.
In all seriousness, I genuinely think order numbers are so bad because no one actually knows it exists
I am using iphone 14 plus..battery backup is awesome….bigger display…great performance…fully satisfied
I went from XR to 14 Pro. 14p got too hot and had barely better battery life. Swapped to 14 Pro Max and I'm really pleased.
Anyone else loving these panning shots of Luke? Very cool
Thanks! I’m trying to incorporate more active camera moves into my videos :)
Love it, adds some dynamic movement to the direct to camera clips. Good stuff!
@@respect386 Luke's cameras are on their own dynamic island 😝
That's exactly what went through my dad's head when he bought the 14 Plus.

Congratulations lucky winner

Yo I just got the 14 plus and shhhh no one needs to know how good this thing is
i bought 14 plus and its very good.Except additional camera its give everything that has been offered by 13 pro max at a faaaaaaaar better price.
very good phone.
Big screen looking superb at low cost
dolby atmos.
beautiful camera shots.
great BATTERY LIFE.
great gaming perfomace.
Everything at a small price compared to 13 pro max
if the prices were:
iPhone 14 - £699
iPhone 14 Plus - £799
iPhone 14 Pro - £999
iPhone 14 Pro Max - £1099
it'd be perfect. between the non pro and pro models it should've had a 200 pound difference.
In Germany 14 pro max costs almost 400€ more, so that could be the reason why people buy 14 plus.
starlight is the best color though
Blue 💯 Starlight is great though, but the Blue is just awesome

I kinda like the light purple, the black though ❤. I suppose it’s a matter of taste

Apple accidentally stumbled across the best choice for most of its customers with this phone.
Lol
Pro motion? Not a gamer and I don’t watch videos on my iPhone, got an iPad and MacBook for that. tbh 14P’s screen is not that bad.
I will hold onto my 12 mini till Apple decided to release another mini phone. Still hoping that the mini iPhone update cycle will match mini iPad instead of Apple just stop making it
Not happening soon
