Supertramp's multi-platinum album "Breakfast In America." Was one of the greatest albums ever made. Almost every song on that album became a top 40 hit. In that album alone you have 1. The Logical Song. 2. Goodbye Stranger 3. Bloody Well Right. 4. Take The Long Way Home. 5.Breakfast In America. 6. Give A Little Bit. As you can see that album was off the charts great! You must go down the rabbit hole that is Supertramp. They were one of the greatest groups of the 70's.
No. The singles were 1 The Logical Song. 2 Goodbye Stranger. 3 Breakfast In America. 4 Take The Long Way Home. The other songs you mentioned were not even on the album! So four singles only.
It was the late 70’s, I was 10 years old. I still remember the diner waitress on the album cover of my breakfast in America I had paid for myself washing cars in the neighborhood that summer. Take the long way home was my favorite and I wore the needle of my record player out to it. Amazing how hearing a song can bring you right back nearly 50 years ago. Great reaction.
And as a bonus you get a bunch of senior citizens like me who remember these songs, love them as the soundtrack of their lives, and love you for appreciating them.
The organ that the lead singer is playing is the classic Hammond B-3, a mainstay of rock history. It was used by such bands as Deep Purple and Procul Harum and many others. I used to do sound and bands would sometimes bring them in. It took 6 men to lift it up onto the stage and 4 men to lift the Leslie speaker that goes with it. The Leslie speaker rotates and gives this in phase/out of phase sweeping sound that you will probably come to recognize. One of the most ironic songs featuring the B-3 is "Whiter Shade Of Pale" by Procul Harum. You should react to their version with the Danish National Orchestra and choir. You won't be disappointed.
Supertramp has been on steady rotation round here since I discovered them forty years ago. So that's where you're headin' MDreezy 😀. This is an absolute amazingly talented prog rock band. Check out the album 'Crime of the Century'.
Supertramp was formed in 1970, and is in my top 3 favorite bands! "Bloody Well Right" and "School" should be included in your future ST reactions list! Thanks for another great reaction and choice! Loving your channel! ✌💙✌
2:32-It's because most of the musicians back then were classically trained..Doors, Yes, Pink Floyd, etc. Because of that, they were able to create something more than just music..it was art.
As an old rocker from the 70's and 80's, I appreciate that you appreciate Supertramp. I love them. Later on to come is another great band similar to them called the Scorpians. If you like Supertramp, you will also like the Scorpians for all the same reasons.
Glad you are enjoying the classics and sharing your appreciation of great music with us who grew up listening to these great song and great music artists. I remember on one of your other videos you mentioned you played saxophone and that you no longer had it. Please when you get the chance get another one. I can tell when you talk about it, that you enjoyed playing. There's nothing like playing and creating music on a musical instrument. Don't let that talent you have to play music disappear. Love your reactions and comments. React to the Journey catalog from the 70's to the late 80's when Steve Perry was the lead singer, if you haven't reacted to them already.
Wow. At times I forget how talented this band was. Maybe what you're noticing is the great the musical arrangement, the way all the instrumental parts flow and complement each other. The vocal arrangements are so good too. :)
I think you missed the point. Dude, when he says take the long way home, he's not talking about going home. It's like that old joke about the guy who went out to get milk and never came back. He talks about everybody at home treats him like the furniture. He saying that he wants to run away.
It's soooo exciting thinking about how classic rock reactors could/might become musicians, producers, promoters etc and bring that golden era into creating whatever rock and roll is to turn into in the future. Especially reactors who grew up on hip hop and have fallen in love with 60s/70s/80's musicianship, poetry and badass instrumentation and production. Those who appreciate RNR's vulnerable/honest emotional power and pure lyrical expression. Who now celebrate unadulterated, natural talent and execution instead of relying on autotune/AI, and overworked post production. Can't wait to see how this generation is going to evolve this amazing genre.
This was 1979 Live in Paris. Nice analysis! Look for more Supertramp there's a ton of great songs. Check out "Don't Leave Me Now" up on your screen there. It's the last song Roger Hodgson wrote for Supertramp.
Supertramp are class! How about some Thin Lizzy brotha? I suggest 'Suicide' studio version (1975). Lead singer had a father from Guyana and an Irish mother. They are a twin guitar rock band and had hit albums and singles in the 70s and early 80s.
Love to hear you enjoying Supertramp! Do you see the “Don’t leave me now” on the playing next on that screen? That is Supertramp’s Roger Hodgson vocals at his best! You may like to listen to it one day
It's great that you're so open to new/old? music. I know how easy it is to stay in your own comfort zone. As a fan mainly of guitar music I was a latecomer to Supertramp but better late than never right! My suggestions are 'Rudy' and 'Hide in your shell' for your next ST ractions. Cheers
yeah ur rite, quality musos, composition, lyrics, all so gd, pity it all wnt sour n vey split. vsi concert late 70s im guesn, st were a70s/80s band, kinda in ver own lane. liked ur apreciation n music awarness, cheers frm au.
LOL you again! Supertramp is another band which created its own class. I'm one of them grandmas looking for something familiar like ST and open this lol. Welcome back to the 70s, young man lol
I really wish you would do the studio versions first when you're checking out a band's song for the first time to get the Fuller richer sound. Not to mention the original instrumental leads with a clarinet. In the live version they are always changing up the instrumental leads
The main problem with today’s music is…..it has no soul. I mean musicianship has disappeared. Most songs and albums are just backing tracks, or samples of someone else’s music. And the vocal tracks are all electronically controlled and manipulated, so that, the voice you hear on the recording “neve” sounds as good live. Unfortunately, we are living in a fake world, with fake music and fake “artists”. There are notable exceptions….but unfortunately most of today’s music isn’t worth listening to, that’s why so many of us watch and enjoy young people like yourself discovering the music that we grew up with. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Can anyone name another group with 3 keyboardists? And at 68, these lyrics cut deep now..... 🎶Does it feel that your life's become a catastrophe? Oh, it has to be, for you to grow, boy When you look through the years and see what you could have been Oh, what you might have been If you would have more time🎶 .....sigh........
I'M A MAN OF COLOR AT THE AGE OF 57. REACH OUT TO ME BECAUSE I LOVE THE YOUNG PEOPLE LISTEN TO REAL MUSIC. I WOULD LOVE TO HELP BUILD UP YOUR CHANNEL. I DON'T WANT NOTHING!! I KNOW WHAT YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO. FACTS!!!!
lomg way hme referes 2 a marriage thats ovr, so he takes a long drive home 2 depay being ver, sad, roger wrote it always wondered if it was bout himslef, he referes 2 a 'rock star' who feels unbeleiveable on v stage n referes 2 his wife who tinks hes aprt of v furniture etc.
One of those groups I wanted to see but couldn't. Fools Overture seems appropriate for the Times we're in today. Just make sure you do the long version whether you watch it or not. ✌️🤠🏞️🐂

I was a little kid during the early 70s, love these guys and so many more, im 52 now, music was totally rockin cool back then. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Supertramp has been a staple for me since 1974. They never get old.
Another good one!!! Love that you dig this
Makes me smile when I see you discovering all this great music!
Thanks for sharing it ✌🏼
They're phenomenal! So happy you're checking them out and enjoying them.
If you noticed, at first he played the soprano sax and then picked up the clarinet.
And as a bonus you get a bunch of senior citizens like me who remember these songs, love them as the soundtrack of their lives, and love you for appreciating them.
How I wish I could go back to the 70’s!!! Best music ever ❤
Supertramp is so uplifting.❤❤❤
Very
Perhaps not such an uplifting subject matter, they are one of the best at this dichotomy between music and lyrical content. Always brilliant however 🙂
I love Supertramp
I love this song! So well composed. They are just as good live as in the studio.
Top top band. Such great players of instruments, real music and...AND...they could do it live!!
Gerry Rafferty, Baker Street, amazing sax solos
⬆️ YES!
Sweet!! 😃 More SUPERTRAMP 🥳 my vote for next one by them: either Goodbye Stranger or Breakfast in America. ❤
Excellent suggestion. Thx ✌🏻

Y'all are from the best time for music too, eh? COTF....masterpiece.
Nice reaction to a great band. Good concert. Saw them in the early 80"s in Calgary Alberta Canada. Played outside at the Stampede.

A great band to play on road trips. You just might take the long way home 😎☮️
They are a very talented band from late 70’s-80’s
I love a lot of Supertramp, but my all time favorite is Goodbye Stranger, but I'm a huge guitar solo fan.
Yes, grt suggestion. Thx ✌🏻

Haha! I been loving the supertramp catalog!
@@MDreeezy as prime as AC/DC, no? 😆
Please react to School.
Dougie Thomson is a vastly under rated bass player also.

As good as it is the studio is better.
Hey Bro, you got that $5 you owe me?! 🤣 Yeah, Supertramp is a classic FEELGOOD band. Stay chill!

Have you reacted to "Child of Vision" yet? It's even more amazing than this song.
Oasis - Wonderwall (Official Video). English rock band heavily influenced by The Beatles.
They are not that great. Song "School" by them is great...that is sorta it.
Elton John....ever gone there? Or band...Chicago.
One of those groups I wanted to see but couldn't.
Fools Overture seems appropriate for the Times we're in today.
Just make sure you do the long version whether you watch it or not.
