    Sup!! Been a long time. I'm finally getting back into arcade sticks and fighting games and realy excited about the new Capcom collection. Also I wanted to say that the buttercage spring delete mod makes the V2 super fine. Using the 60 g heavier grommet with the spring delete mod, I absolutely do not ride the rails anymore. It is so smooth and just hitting the inputs without touching the gate is so weird and awesome.

    Does it work on any Sanwa JLF model? I'm considering buying this kit.

  • @VeganBytes
    @VeganBytes Месяц назад

    I have a gaming pedestal and fitted two sanwa jlf's.
    I had no idea how frustrating these joysticks are as they literally double-click all the time, causing input interference.
    I initially blamed the switches, and wasted more money buying new circuit boards, I then purchased upgraded springs and a larger set of actuators, which then caused a lack of inputs.
    I now have an otto v5 kit on order, and will hunt down the shuriken jlf solderless switch pcb. In other words, the sanwa is a terrible stick that is seriously flawed and has cost me triple the cost in the long run.

    Hey mate, I've been looking a tad into Korean parts. Do they usually fit where Sanwa JLF's fit?
    Is the quality between Fanta and Crown too different?

    • @shocknawe
      @shocknawe 5 лет назад

      The size here, I meant it's height, as from what I've seen, some Korean sticks have a protrusion.

    • @alexnostalgix
      @alexnostalgix  5 лет назад +2

      @@shocknawe Not all Korean levers have protrusion due to the collar. The Crown MJ, 303 Dong Pal, or something like the Golden Fanta are just plug and play. With that said some fight sticks can't even accommodate a Korean stick due to the actual size of thejoystick body. I'm currently doing to Korean stick video comparing a few but unfortunately its on the back burner do to work related projects. So keep an eye out for it!

  • @Pobega
    @Pobega 4 года назад

    Oof. I really wanted to pickup this kit (trying to build one single portable stick to play both 2D and 3D), but coming from a Fanta I'm not sure I could handle the opposite inputs when you let go of the stick. I've become too used to the Fanta's return to neutral.
    Could you elaborate on what you were saying about changing how you hold it, or perhaps your feelings after playing with it more?
    FWIW I mostly play Tekken tho my friends play SFIV and SamSho, which is my main motivation to get this kit.

    • @alexnostalgix
      @alexnostalgix  4 года назад

      I would keep my thumb, index, and middle finger on the ball top and rest my hand on the deck of fight stick. Then I would rest my ring finger on the shaft of the joystick for a little more control. Its not something I really think about since I started on a hyabusa and jlf from the start. Over time you wont even notice it and if you feel you have a heavy hand you can go with a heavier spring (2lbs preferably) and light ball top. Hope that helps!

  • @natecross5244
    @natecross5244 5 лет назад

    Hey man, would you suggest something like this if I'd like to play with a Korean stick but also play 2D fighters like UNIST besides Tekken? Haven't tried Korean stick at all, and I play Mishimas. This is because I hear Korean sticks aren't that good for 2D or anime fighters, apparently. What do you think? Thanks a lot!

    • @alexnostalgix
      @alexnostalgix  5 лет назад +1

      In my opinion it would be fine, I play blazblue crosstag every once in awhile. Korean can be just as good as any other joystick but ofcourse right out the gate you have way more travel distance compared to say a JLF or LS32. They aren't bad, just offer a different feel.

      I see. How about the diagonals? Those are my biggest concern, as I mostly play 2D fighters. I hear korean levers, in general, don't have the best corners and so far in my journey for my personal favorite stick, the stock JLF isn't it, as, to me, the diagonals seem awful to hit, even with a kowal actuator :/

    At 7:25, you bring up the issue of unwanted opposite inputs when you slap the stick in one direction and let it return to neutral, then say that it's not actually a fault of the kit itself.
    Actually, it IS a fault of the kit. I installed the kit and had a similar issue myself, until I found a reddit comment describing it. The oversized actuators that come with the Otto DIY V2 kit have a diameter that is too wide to properly function with the JLF switches. I then swapped the Otto actuator with a Kowal oversized actuator that I purchased as the comment recommended, which matches the stock JLF actuator's widest diameter at that point, and the issue was diminished or eliminated entirely for normal use.
    I just wanted to get this information out there in case anyone purchases the Otto kit after watching this video and finds themselves frustrated. It would be in your best interest to stick with the stock JLF actuator or purchase something like the Kowal actuator that is more carefully designed. Hopefully future iterations of the kit will fix this.
    Below is an imgur album I put together with a link to the reddit comment, as well as a comparison between the stock JLF, Kowal, and Otto actuators.

      @duhzeez7462 2 года назад

      @@hylanderOP As far as I know Otto do not make an octo gate. Your current gate will fit on it. However you may have to use a different actuator than the Otto one as it has a larger diameter on the mating surface that goes to the gate and would not "feel" right with the octo gate, to me anyway. I would try the rounded square gate first, as to me it is actually better than an octo. Once I got used to a square gate I stopped using octo's anyway but the rounded gate is really nice and works well with the oversized actuators.
