  • In 2023 Corbin Carroll broke rookie records for his blazing speed and elite offense. He also helped bring the Arizona Diamondbacks who were the worst team in baseball in 2021, to the World Series. But so far in 2024 the spark that made him so special in the first place is seemingly missing. But why is this the case? Well come with me and let's take a deep dive into why one of baseball's brightest young stars has struggled so far in 2024.

    Alek thomas, jake mccarthy, drew jones, corbin carroll, and now slade caldwell (recently drafted) are all fast and athletic outfielders for the dbacks who have all had time in the top prospect list, i think that carroll became what the others were supposed to and they all are gonna grow together

      Alek Thomas will forever be a sub 250 hitter. His defense is great but his bat is a huge liability. He's an outfield Nick Ahmed and idk why no one else can see that. HE IS OVERRATED. He had 1 good at bat in the postseason and that's it.

      The sophmore slump. I think it may come from the pitchers around the league figuring out a young player's holes in their swing. And then that player trying to make adjustments which inevitably screws up the player's mechanics at the plate. Baseball is hard.

    As a MASSIVE D-Backs fan, I've been watching him closely this season and have NO IDEA what tf is going on with him. He mentioned trying to fix something with his swing angle or something a couple few months ago and I've heard people talk about his stride, but if it was these things EVERYONE seems to be noticing, Ithink it's safe to assume HE knows. Why tf isn't he improving!? I know fixing stuff isn't easy, even when you know what's wrong, and batting is hard and all that, but dude...this is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT DUDE this season. It makes NO SENSE to me how he's THIS BAD this season STILL when he has all the time, and all the best trainers in the world, to fix it. It's friggin late July...we've seen a few little glimmers of hope but that's IT. The ONLY thing that makes any sense is either an injury or something psychological. I really hope he gets back to normal soon. LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOO, D-BACKS!! 🐍⚾️

    I just found your channel. I am enjoying your analysis, so I subbed. IMO, his comment before the end of the video makes me so confused. It seems like he's trying to work on his swing in-season, though he knows that is something you work on in the training and pre-season periods. How does he not get reprimanded for that? I hadn't yet seen a comparison of his swings until this video, and I was shocked at how wide his stance is now. Not only does it limit power because the dominant foot is no longer as strong on the energy exchange, but being so wide open increases the time and energy it takes to get out of the stance and into a run to base. I really hope he's just going through the infamous sophomore slump, but there's something about 2024 season Carroll that's strikingly different about 2023 Carroll. Regardless, I wish him the best of luck.

    • @3-0Greenlight
      @3-0Greenlight  2 месяца назад

      I'm glad you enjoyed them!
      I too was surprised to hear his thoughts on why he had been slumping. Because it wasn't what I had noticed when watching him. I think the main thing with him has been his shoulder injury which zapped his power shown by his extra base totals decreasing massively in 2023 after his injury in July. Despite having a near identical AVG and similar PA's.

  • @JaredHettler

    Holes in his swing were exploited that he hasn't adapted to. The greats adapt and figure it out. Trout was highly susceptible to the high fastball, particularly up and in. Chased it and couldn't make contact with it even when it was in the zone. Stopped chasing it and his OBP skyrocketed. Judge was susceptible to the slider low and away. Still is. Same thing, he learned to lay off and now his OBP is pushing .450 this season. Harper was susceptible to the fastball up and away and the changeup low and away. He too adapted. Corbin has yet to do so.

    Corbin is getting overly confident in the box. That makes you anticipate your thoughts on the pitch that's coming and messes up your swing.

    Sophomore slumps are real. And it’s pretty hard to follow up the rookie year he had. Been frustrating watching him this year but he’s slowly getting back there. Still a threat on base. I feel that most of us fans have both faith and patience in the guy.

    Its called the sophomore slump and being a Yankees fan I am glad Anthony Volpe didn't suffer from the same fate. It's hard for most players to come back from this kind of season as they try way to hard to repeat the season before and fail miserably, just look at James Outman, he is 27 years ol and now in the minors and at his age if he hasn't made it by now he never will because most players reach their prime at 30 so good luck Mr. Outman with your Minor League career.
