    Wow! That was great! Finally one that really did a compression coupling PVC repair addressing every aspect--including making sure to stabilize your pipe, as movement will eventually cause leaks. I have watched 5 others today and none of them came close to this! Thanks for covering it like a "real life" situation and not two loose pipes sitting on top of a work bench or just laying free on the ground. GREAT DEMO!! If you don't believe me, look around and you'll see my other reviews.

    Hand tighten is definitely not enough strength. It will blow under pressure. You have too make sure you tighten with a wrench a good amount. Also make sure the pipe is braced up against something. Such as compacted dirt. These water lines such as 1inch or 2 inch are carrying hundreds of pounds per square inch of pressure. Make sure the pipe is braced. And very tight.

      I did my hand tight and tested before backfilling with dirt. After about 30 seconds the coupler separated. Certainly going to have it braced against dirt and tighten more tonight. Thanks

    Hi after installing this i notice that it leaks a bit. Not drops like the ones shown in the video. It leaks like one drop every minute. But its on the main line so it has pressure 24/7 all spring and summer. I already tightened it as mush as I could by hand. I cant get a wrench in there because there is another pipe on top of it. Would that be bad.

      @dfelixrx7 2 Π³ΠΎΠ΄Π° Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄ +1

      You may have to cut the one on top to make that repair correctly. Repeat for the one on top. Otherwise leak remains

    What's the advantage of using a strap wrench instead of a pipe wrench?

    • @chriswebster24
      @chriswebster24 2 Π³ΠΎΠ΄Π° Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄ +2

      It’s just to help avoid damaging the fitting. The straps won’t cut into it like a wrench can.

  • @davidgonzales6749

    Can you use it on galvanized pipe?

    • @huyquoctran2088
      @huyquoctran2088 3 Π³ΠΎΠ΄Π° Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄

      You can as a temporary fix but it will leak later on. This is mad for pvc / plastic hard pipes. either have some weld your damage area or get a compression fitting just for galvanized pipe. Is made of steel also.

    • @aaronsoto4622
      @aaronsoto4622 3 Π³ΠΎΠ΄Π° Π½Π°Π·Π°Π΄ +1

      These are designed for galvanized or PVC pipes. According too the Homeworks PVC maker. Just make sure it's tightened by a wrench and definitely not by hand. Also free of any movement, hence it must be braced before being pressurized.

    I followed this 3 years ago. Failed last week. Had to dig it up, and followed the four 90s method to fix it. So I don't recommend using a compression coupler or following this video.
