5:25 "feeding builders directly into the coliseum" is a statement which I initially misunderstood
hahahaha
They are going to fight each other and the lions.
It's probably a pretty historical accurate statement!
KDavisJr86 Gladiators were often not killed. They were more like celebrities
@@cyborgalbatross6147 in the Colosseum where large scale battles not only famous gladiators most people who entered died
I don't play China in Civ6 because having random bits of the Great Wall around triggers a deep rage in me.
Especially tragic if playing a TSL map
I feel like every civ you play makes me think like "wow this civilization is God tier" but I think it's because you know what you're doing
yeah and then people go and complain about the civs on forums and want a nerf, when all they need to do is l2p xD
This is modded. The values are too high. 4 food and 3 production on a hill? Wtf
@@shichilaofa it's the natural wonder he spawned right next to
Ayrond A You are making a fool of yourself.

The agony of seeing 3 cities 7 tiles away from the colosseum...
You could say that turn was pretty
Wonderful
Thanks, another one of my top tier jokes for you.
This was a time of development inside the Chinese empire, on a roll of a strong base they were starting harbors and expanding the borders of the capital.
Minor tumult occured with the suzerainty and loyalty of La Venta trading hands away from China which was swiftly retaken. Along with the Norwegians looking to fight a religious battle in the lands of China and no recourse found in diplomacy.
The powerful governors of China were growing with Pingala in the capital and now Magnus in the Northwest grasslands of Taiyuan.
The strong economy led to multiple annexations of more land along with speeding along production.
Most importantly of the time was the plans for the many great buildings of the governments plans, starting with the completetion of the magnificent Colosseum bringing entertainment and broadening their culture. The Colosseum was followed by development of cultural districts and campuses.
The large builder class and strong training they received allowed them to help speed along the development of the Chinese infrastructure. At this time the Great Library was going to be constructed in the capital.
While they were not in what historians qualify as a golden age they were in a strong developmental period in Chinese history
The religious struggles continued in the capital which now refocused onto growing in population while defending from the foreign missionaries.
While constructing the main wondrous buildings of the age the ever planning Chinese continued to plan ahead and what governmental, cultural and scientific accomplishments they were aiming for.
This was also the first sign of the fantastic Chinese walls, the creation is a sign of the Chinese greatness. This is a mark of how their success is so great that it almost seems minor in this age of Chinese internal development.
The second wonder of the age was the Mauseleun of Halicarnasus. A fantastic accomplishment for the coasts of China. Unfortunately the Great Lighthouse was made by another civilization. However a consolation came in the chance to build the Temple of Artemis.
Before the final wonders of the Age came a flood in Chen.
The Colossus was constructed in Chengdu to end this chapter of Chinese history and open them up to international trade.
If you enjoyed this let me know, if you are really interested I also left a history book retelling on the last episode. Thanks for reading!
Joe K You know shits about to happen when Norway invades China in 1000 BC
Thanks. This is gold.
03:50 "the traditional way". It sounded so ominous. I laughed out loud.
I played this seed and norway invaded me in turn 50 with their unique boats:(
Same, also Kupe settled a city in the south that flipped loyalty to me straight away. So I sold it back to him for most of his gold and now it's flipping again.
The seed didn't work on my PS4. I have all the DLC and copied all the details and seed numbers exactly but still didn't get the map :(
@@AnadolununAslan pretty sure seeds on pc only works on pc, not sure tho
@@Mrcat-ue3ih pretty sure not sure?
Salty as hell about that Apadana. It was a tragedy, the Lighthouse also hurt. That usually makes me start producing a big military to go take it.
Your civ videos are amazing. My 12 year old son introduced me to Them after he beat me in multiplayer and told"potato had taught him". Now we play on Immortal both and having tons of fun together. And I have binged the videos for weeks now and still some to go.
Cheers!
Awesome.. I need to hurry up and make a son so I’ve got someone to play with
This start is just too broken.
wet dream start
I finished this game yesterday with tons of wonders and cultural victory before turn 180. I got even luckier and somehow settled with luxury in the first city
As a dude who finds this video entertaining but haven't played any Civ 6 (tho I did put in some time with Civ 5), what makes it broken?
Huey Santiago one of the best natural wonders in the game (because food and production that basically means you’ll never have to worry about your two most important resources), alongside having everything important isolated inland against a heavily Naval Civ
From what I understand
He also got really lucky with the Maori. I started this seed multiple times, and most of the time the fatass comes to the island, ruins settling locations by putting his cities in stupid places that make no sense, and wants war, which heavily delays me.
Awesome to see such great Wonder building! An episode on what gives Era Score in a pinch would be a really awesome episode!
I second this. I’ve hit a dark age a time or two just one point away.

Potato: “I think grabbing Magnus and putting him in Taiwan would be a great thing to do”
China: * sweats *
Potato: “...so I can mass produce settlers”
China: **sweating profusely**
lol
It's funny he pronounced TaiYuan as TaiWan (two totally different places and are very far away from each other) for me as a mainland Chinese, yet totally acceptable.
@@johnnyyu7294 Kinda weird that Civ6 didnt make Taiwan a city state, or a city of China.
@@jimmyhaotran123 I think it's because Taiwan does not actually have a history long enough and hadn't become a region with significant influence until decades ago...
@@johnnyyu7294 no, it's because this game is popular in China
Yugi: Did you just built a bunch of wonders in one turn?
Kaiba: Yeah, so?
Yugi: Thats against the rules isnt it?!
Kaiba: Screw the rules I got builders!
Guys don't complain about Potato mispronouncing everything. He's Irish he knows how it feels.
*Síofra is prounnoced Shee-fra*
I understand that, so maybe we can just change the city’s name from Taiyuan to Taiwan?
ggspirit t’would probably be insulting to Taiwan
same here
Taiwan is a country not a city.
Having Irish folks gives me the ability to look amazing at work by knowing how to spell/pronounce names like Niamh, Oisin, Aoife and the like. Throws people because I'm English, with a Northern accent. I draw the line at trying to explain the rules of Gaelic football though.
Every time I hear Potato pronouncing Taiyuan as Taiwan gives me giggles
I've completed 4 wonders in 1 turn on accident
My max is 3 yet
Max is 4(pure accident/luck)
I think it was mausoleum, forbidden palace, hanging gardens, and another 1 I cant remember
@@jaguarjames2225 wait, AI didn't build hanging gardens until you already unlocked forbidden city? Impossible!
@@jan-lukas lol I was only playing on emporer
I'm fairly new to the game with about 70 hours in it since buying it earlier this month, but I wanted to let you know the loyalty problems when settling new cities can be avoided quite easily. The other day, I had a game where I wanted a few cities in a spot affected by a lot of negative loyalty. So I just founded the first 2 of them at the same time, and they helped each other. The same turn I settled, it said it would would rebel within 6 and 7 turns respectively, but the turn after, it said it would be loyal within 2 turns.
An interesting video would be to play around with this to see if you could find a limit to what is possible with this trick.
I'm a big fan of your videos. You and TheSaxyGamer have helped me so much these first weeks. Keep up the great work!
Hey RUclips algorithm… this one is just for you. Take it, love it and then go and recommend this video to everybody. Thx.
Just so you know, Potato, Torres del Paine is pronounced "Tohr-Ehz dell Pie-Nay." It is a blend of Spanish and native Chilean languages that means "Towers of Blue."
I did a research paper on this natural wonder for a geology class I'm taking in college. In case you or anyone else is interested, it is composed primarily of yellowish-gray granite peaks situated on top of a gabbro-diorite laccolith (This feature used to be an underground magma chamber). It is also located in the third-most southern National Park in the world- just behind to other national parks that are also in Chile. Additionally, the peaks are surrounded by numerous glacial features and beautiful, sky- blue lakes where several fossils have been found.
Have fun reaping the benefits from this gorgeous place as China- love the series, keep it up, man!
Thank you, I will try to pronounce it more correctly
@@PotatoMcWhiskey I always pronounced it the same way you do too- just figured out I'd been pronouncing it wrong a couple weeks ago. 😋
@@PotatoMcWhiskey If it's any consolation mate, there ain't no way on Gods green earth we are able to pronounce every place name in every language. I suggest naming all your cities after family friends, long dead pets, people you hated at school etc.
Potato just the other day: "dont ever build the colosus... UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING"
I promise to not do as you do, sometimes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Potato: sacrifice builders to build wonders.
The dragon emperor is born
I turned up the volume on this video and listened to it through a wall
I like anything with an Office Space reference.
"PC Load Letter"? The fuck does that mean??!
Most the time when I roll a new game, I just pick random civ for myself and a.i. I want to say 75% I just picks China. Loving this current series, keep em coming Potato
The thumbnail got me xD
I have to say, I've really enjoyed watching your playthroughs. Your commentary is both helpful and hilarious in equal measures. Thanks for posting these!
20:30 You can see Potato at his height of role playing, saying he is "inserting" builders into the Colossus. Just like builders/workers were inserted into the Great Wall when that was built. LMFAO
city; Taiyuan
potato; Taiwan
Shush you!
@@PotatoMcWhiskey owo senpai noticed me.

Liked it literally for the image.
Liked for the thumbnail alone
He gotta like and a sub outta me from it. Too funny dude
Good to have ya back potato. Hope things are going good for you and yours.
YESSSSS!!!! Waited all day for this.
"I tell ya what i'd do man..." Lmao! Great reference. Liked and sub'd because of that awesome title and thumbnail. Also, been playing Civ6 on PS4 a bit myself lately.
dude i can watch you 24/7,thank you for great content
That thumbnail deserves at least two thumbs up and if I had a million dollars I could ...
Hey, Potato! I really appreciate your content. Keep up the good work;)
Jeez u a legend man pls keep on with this
Amazing video like always!
Just here to say that thumbnail is the best thing ever lol
Yo potato, really enjoying your content as of late! Keep it up man
That thumbnail made me LOL
You are a beast. I just bought this game plus both expansions because it was all on sale and have been playing as persia and I'm so lost. Someone on civ discord reccomend me to watch you to learn
"Not the end of the world"
Comrade Dyatlov approves🤣
Wackyjacky101 outro lol
Thanks for the content
Imagine if Potato got Liang. Supercharged Chinese builders.
I've tried to stick with you, lost Great Library but got the Great Lighthouse. Not too far off. I think everything started going differently from the first southern Tribal Village I picked up.
There is a nice Great Zimbabwe in Taiyuan, something to consider.
Killing it!!
8:32 ChengDu's canal popping outta no where
Its not finished, only placed, had to cut a bit of footage and forgot the bit where I talked about it
Hey, how many builders did you make this game? PotatoMcWhiskey: YES
I learn a lot with videos explanatory. Thanks.
I have to fight of norways religion the traditional way...
Starts a Crusade 🤣
Super vidéo !
The thumbnail made me laugh out loud. It's good to know you are Office Space fan too :)
I like playing this civ because it is extremely strong (t0) in science and culture. Apadana+wonders gets you a ton of envoys(in this meta any civ with an extra edge in controlling city states is greatly advantageous, e.g. Greece and Hungary), the Great Wall is a good source of culture or tourism, and builders +1 charge(which can save a ton of faith/production since these two victories require a lot of builders.
wait, when I clicked on this video when it had only been uploaded for about 15 minutes, the thumbnail wasn't the same.
now, it's brilliant.
either that or I just didn't look at the thumbnail, I just saw you posted the 2nd video in the series and just clicked anyway ... but I don't think that's me.
Make sure they won't eat bat soup ~
What a start lol. I mean sure it’s kinda fun to steamroll but it’s not really ‘realistic’. I rather like to see you struggle and learn from that tbh.
Love that thumbnail!
The first time i played this save file Norway invaded but i held him back with archers and quickly built walls in all my coastal cities for bombarding. i survived and eventually established a good foot hold but i'm not sure i can convert that into a win now as it cost me so much time. I think it was 40-50 turns of constant war. :(
spawnpoint was great. He was alone in a huge peninsula
Awesome thumbnail pic!
release the wonder teir list, the people can only bear so much hype
After this Series!
@@PotatoMcWhiskeyYo! Huge fan thanks for replying, your videos have helped me be so much better at the game. Id love to ask you a question though, im looking for a civ that would be super OP for a culture victory that also thrives on the coast. I know super specific but id love your thoughts
Either this game is broken, or you're too good at playing it
I'm guessing the latter
Anyways, another great video! ^w^
It's both
As stated in episode one, Potato found this start in a live stream where he was teaching people how to choose start locations. The live stream was hilarious!!! Everyone was drooling over the start and begging for the seeds to get the start.
Dear 🥔, please consider the spy operation fabricate scandal in nazca later, it was great in my diplo playthrough, very high chance of promotion and just kills the enemies' envoys
The kind of wonders that'd triple up on a dude like me.
I haven't even seen that much production in the end game lol
2 chicks at the same time man
Tried following along with this. Literally match everything turn-by-turn and I can never get the bonus settler to start with, which basically throws everything else out of the window. Oracle goes to someone else, Apadana goes to someone else, and I'm miles behind in my religion etc. by turn 60.
Great vids though mate, I do learn a lot!
Ah this how to cheese the game with workers. xD
Ohh yes I am playing as Japan with the +1 production on water resources except it is +10 and all my cities are coastal pretty overpowered.
21:34 in the video Amani could double your envoys, not a pipe dream entirely
I wish you could build a district/wonder on luxury or strategic tiles. So what, you lose the resource.
that map feels like inverted spain/portugal in the real world.
Watched the vid in 1.25 speed so that i dan comment sooner, though now i see that the apadana is really a shame to lose
More Old World please, Mr. Spud.
I like That u skip through the video for me dude 😜😂
WAit, I though this game was about rushing cities, military tech and production while churning out tons of units and declaring war on everyone...
Can someone please tell me whether there is a way to take a game/match and to save it as a replayable file like is done with chess? What I mean is that you would take the game file and then start and replay the game move by move. For example someone could replay it and then comment on the moves.
I think one downside of making wonders this way is that when you get beaten to making it by another civ, I don’t know if your city recovers the production after. Usually you get a production refund if your city is actively building the wonder when another civ steals it. I could be wrong on this though. Also I know I am commenting on an old video xD. I am trying to learn how to get better at civ. I can win on king difficulty, trying to move up to emperor now.
Will you try a All-Wonder Challenge? Basically lower difficulty but you have to make every wonder in the game
Why is your diety so calm and safe XD
I really like that mountain between Changsha and Chen. is it there the mongols hide I wonder?
yes do not look too closely or they will get you
I guess you got it the wrong way, the wall is meant to protect the mountain from the builder invasion =D
I copied a few thing of what you did with your set up that I saw the other day but now that I’m seeing you continue I’m starting to wonder if I predicted the future cuz I’ve settled almost identically with you on accident
here in chile paine its pronounced like this: "pa" like panda, "i" like in idiot and "ne" like in never.
This is a normal pronunciation. Every letter is pronounced as it should be.
He’s saying Taiwan because he’s sponsored by the CCP
idk if mcwhiskey uses different settings but his production always seems so high even with tiles that are never worked
one time I was playing Rome and I was making 80 gold a turn in the classic era
Why was the canal suddenly built instead of being a pin for a while starting around 8:50 ?
You can say Xi'An easily as "see - ahn" or "see - un" :)
Is it possible to make all wonder by yourself? I always put all wonder for one cities not caring how good it is due to RP lol.
I clicked only because of the thumbnail
just a quick tip :D , this is what "Taiyuan(太原)" sounds translate.google.com/#view=home&op=translate&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&text=%E5%A4%AA%E5%8E%9F ; vs. this is what "Taiwan(台湾)" sounds translate.google.com/#view=home&op=translate&sl=auto&tl=en&text=%E5%8F%B0%E6%B9%BE
Can we get a chopping tutorial?
Make sure you sharpen your axe first, then you want to make a v shape at the base of the tree.
I kinda prefer the longer episodes format
Potato, a question for you. Who is your favour civ in game? Did you make a video about the best civs, of course in your opinion.
I just noticed that the "South" China Sea is actually north of China XD
Will you be doing more Old World gameplay? I gotta say, I'm hoping you say yes, because that game looks amazing.
Yes I plan to, was feeling a bit off today
@@PotatoMcWhiskey oh didn't mean to sound pushy, heh. Just wondering if that was a one off, or something we'll get to see more of later :)
