soilwork is so underrated its not even fair. The music, writing, composition is on another level and above all, bjorn is insane with his vocals.
true, but i really hope this is not the only good song (under a few) on the new album, like it was on the recent albums ó_ò
FACTS
Couldn't agree more. They just rose above themselves
@@downzed You could say, they rose above the sentiment...
Best album of 2022 for me. Song after song such high quality. Violin, steel, blasts, grunts, cleans, I could go on and on. Electric Again is the goto song 🎵
Thank you very much for the reaction video, and thank you very much for the kind words about the music video. It means alot! We are very honored to have gotten the opportunity to visualize and interpret this great song into images! About the fabric, it's called Lycra :) All the best// Director/Cinematographer
Thanks for the fantastic music video, man!
Soilwork needs to be heard by every metal fan, this song is on another level !
One of the most underrated bands in metal.
I agree
I agree ²
A killer year for Melodeath, Arch Enemy, The Halo Effect, and now Soilwork. Can’t freaking wait.
Man their last few albums have been PHENOMENAL. Especially The Living Infinite and The Ride Majestic. Incredible stuff. Super excited for the new album!
Nice to hear Soilwork still got it. Björn Strid's vocals have always been amazing, and The Panic Broadcast is still one of my favorite melodic death metal albums.
It gets so much hate but Enter dog of Pavlov gets a score beyond 10/10 for me... and even when they were testing the waters at the live shows for Panic, the crowd was negative to "{are you enjoying the new music?" But the crowd went fucking mental for Let this river flow. People WANT to hate new Soilwork but they really don't, and should embrace this evolution!
Gonna fly to Melbourne to watch my boy sing Overgivenheten live in November. I'm a lucky boy! 4th or 5th time seeing them live in Oz will always drop a couple of grand to fly from basic trash Darwin when they come here.
I love how the guitar "sings" the chorus at the start :D
Yesssssss more Soilwork! These guys are fantastic and I love the restraint in their playing in this song. These guys are phenomenal players but they value musicality over shreddiness which I think is a great sign of maturity as musicians.
This feels like a modernized sound of Soilwork I used to love around 2005-2010. Which is obviously a good thing.
"Stalfagel" was the last modern day Soilwork song I really liked. "Figure Number Five" still one of my all time top 10 metal albums.
The Swedish metal bands are killing it!! I saw Dark Tranquillity live some days ago, and they were so good!
R.I.P. Daniel Andersson. What an absolute bummer man. This album is another masterpiece by them and he will really be missed. They really started adopting more of an almost progressive feel to their music the last 5-6 albums. I'm not sure if that development came from Sylvain Coudret or David on guitar, but they made a fucking awesome duo. If you get the opportunity, give the double album 'The Living Infinite' a full listen through. I had that album on repeat for months. And they always have these videos that feel like they have nothing to do with the song, lol. This one was far better than the ones off The Living Infinite.
Soilwork, no matter the line up, creates some amazing music! I'm still partial to Natural Born Chaos, Stabbing the Drama, and Figure Number Five, but the rest of them are good too.
Great track. Been listening to them for years. Still rocking hard!
You should watch the playthrough. You'll be able to see the gear. My love affair with soilwork is 20 years long and it's not going to dissolve anytime soon. 🤘
Soilwork is so damn good live. Can't wait to see them again in...years.
Sick song. I've never listened to this band but I may have to check out the new album and listen to some of their old ones.
this is a banger for sure and I cant wait for this album! gotta say too, Björns time with night flight orchestra has done wonders for his clean singing, it was always good but it has gotten so much better
Saw a lot of people typing in chat and even Tank saying this sounds a lot different from the old stuff and yes it does. But if you have followed them all along the transition is easy to follow. Was it like 3 years ago the single Feverish was released ? It is not that far away from this. I love that Soilwork still sounds like Soilwork and they keep doing what they do. In Flames for an instance made a much faster transition and sounds completely different today in my opinion and for the worse.
Soilwork is one of my top 3 bands (the other two being Night Flight Orchestra and Demon Hunter). They always release quality content, consistently great! Whisp of the Atlantic EP has some CATCHY AS HELL Synths and riffs in it. And the EP they released alongside Verkligheten is also killer.
You should check out the new Demon Hunter single coming out Friday FYI ;)
Hey man, love it. Got into Demon Hunter after Collapsing for probably the same reason as you!🤩
That EP alongside Vekligheten has to be my favourite of all time. In this masters tale might be my top Soilwork song.
I hearing Soilwork since "Distortion Sleeps". They surprise me every time. The first song of there last EP "A Whisp of the Atlantic" are over 16 minutes long... I love this band. Last time i see them live at the Essigfabrik in Cologne 2015.
Been listening to them ever since my sister introduced me to their music about a decade ago. Actually one of the few bands I have consistently kept up with! (The others being Nightwish and In Flames).
Listening to the album "The Ride Majestic" on repeat is what got me through my rough last few years of secondary school, and the fact that they're still going strong (and releasing albums at a pretty fast rate too) means so much to me.
Saw Soilwork and Night Flight Orchestra earlier this year at Karmøygeddon (the festivals slogan is "a cosier hell". The man is a beast. Loved every second of it. Been my favorite band for the last 16 years and has brought me through dark times as well as helped me celebrate good times.
Their album "Verkeligheten" is quite 80s rock inspired (so influenced by Night Flight, Björn and Davids side project).
This music video is also the first "high quality" Soilwork has done in a while. They have created some awesome videoes that feel like home made 80s movies.
I recommend taken a listen to song from Verkeligheten and Death Resonance (B-tracks and Japan exclusives finally released for everyone as well as some new tracks).
They also created the first double album in Melodic Death Metals history, The Living Infinite (or so I was told).
Björn Speed Strid is an insanely busy guy, with two touring bands, doing guest vocals on a huge amount of tracks as well as releasing music all the time.
Soilwork just keeps getting better! It’s absolutely amazing how they’ve evolved despite all the hardship recently. 😢
Just saw them live last week and they were in shape!!
They’ve been able to grow into an incredible modern melody festival (hah) yet keeping their roots at the same time and still somehow manage to sound their old selves anyway!!
Easily the most underrated of any of the bands I listen to. They deserve stadiums, they deserve crowds, rewards, all of it. Can any other band give these goosebumps album after album?!? The harmonies just move me so much. Love it.
Thanks for the reaction!
Soilwork has been one of my go to bands the last few weeks. Been listening to Verkligheten and The Ride Majestic nonstop. So excited for the new album!!
Oh 🤩 I will see them in Tuska open air Metal festival (Helsinki, Finland) in 1 month
🤘😁🤘
Happy to see new Soilwork. Always been an awesome band!
If you haven't heard of the band Earthside, they're an instrumental band that features vocalists from other bands on some songs. They featured Bjorn on a song called Crater, and it's PHENOMENAL. I'd love a reaction to that!
That album is wickedly good. He also has done vocals for Gizmachi's newest album that came out pretty recently to which he said it was one of the most challenging vocals he has done and its true.
@@aquadime3336 oooh I might have to check that out!
I was the same haven’t listened to them since the mid 2000s. I’m seeing them on the 1st of November in Australia, can’t wait!!
They totally killed it. Great set and this was the opener
Yay Soilwork! Going down memory lane with that band.
Soilwork Is one of my favorite bands and Björn Is probably my favorite singer of alltime.
I love almost all their albums. Their just great.
And their like one of the most underrated bands ever in my opinion
Soilwork is the s... 👌🏼💯 I love them. They do not have any bad songs. I am in love with Swedish metal bands. Great reaction as always. I always love to learn new things about gear and production ! Greetings from 🇳🇴
Gonna see them next week! Opening for In Flames and Arch enemy ❤😅
Dude this is so nostalgic! Had no idea Soilwork was still working on new music. They were such a staple back in the day. Incredible band - Peter Witcher isn't a part of the band anymore right? He was an incredible guitarist. The long intro was kind of Enter Dog of Pavlov-ish.
Not even sure he's [Pete] playing much anymore. Last I'd heard, he was working for Jackson guitars. Last music related involvement I'd heard him play on was James LaBrie's solo albums.
@@nahnotsomuch2292 oh that's cool. I'm a DT fan but James LaBrie's never been my favorite singer. But if he's a part of the new album I might check it out.
He left after Stabbing then came back for Broadcast then left again.
One of my favorite bands.
The metal world takes Bjorn Strid for granted, I think.
The whole world takes him for granted. He is better than 99% of vocalists around and has a totally unique and recognizable style. I want Charismatic Voice to feature him so hard but have a hard time deciding what song I would pick because there are way, way too many amazing examples.
@@Skycania This Momentary Bliss would be good
I'm very glad you got to some Soilwork! I'm like you where I listened to them a ton back in the early 2000s. I feel like they made a change starting with The Panic Broadcast album and that's where they really started standing out in the Melodeth scene like you mentioned. Speed's vocals are second to none. Both harsh and clean, it's hard to compete. But musically they seem more technical and dynamic. If you haven't checked out their double album from 2012 or 2013, "The Living Infinite", I would absolutely recommend it. Very easy to front-to-back that one. Keep up the solid work, brother!
Stabbing The Drama was my intro to Soilwork, I love this band
This goes back to Figure Number 5 album for me. Hope there's more angst that comes through.... Like the last EP.
Soilwork is from my hometown Helsingborg, its about 2 hours by train south of Gothenborg ;)
sweden in da house , great first single from soilworks new one
Tank now that the album is dropped, we need more reactions!
One of the best melodic metal groups out there
Digging the new Soilwork, I love the huge choruses intertwined with the gigantic guitar lines and massive soundscapes. Its brilliant too, when you hear Bjorn's other band, the Night Flight Orchestra, who are one of the best things Ive discovered in the last couple of years! The guy is brilliant. Great reaction. Any Night Flight Orchestra fans out there?
Soilwork for LIFE. One of my favorite bands ever. There is truly no bad SOILWORK records, every one of them is amazing.🤘🏻
I got hooked with "A predator's portrait" a loooong time ago. They were part of what widened my metal tastes (now they are all over the damn place), and "NEEDLEFEAST" is still to this day on of my top 10 songs ever. Stabbing the drama is pure perfection, and whenever there is an itch for melodeath there's nothing quite like Soilwork to scratch it. Last time they played in Madrid (with Amorphis and Jinjer no less!!!!!) they gave one hell of a show. I got picks, drumstick, the whole pack (Amorphis' also, hehehe). They are too good!
Oh I love this song ❤ Its a crime, how long its been since the last time I've listened to them... They're a stable in my teens as well and I think they'll be again from now on! 🤩👍 Thanks alot!
Oh and I discovered a new band from the ad YT played before your reaction: They're called "Nyktophobia" and the song was called "Winter Assualt" - I really liked that song and the intro gave me the chills and I thought it'd be cool to see your reaction to it 😎👍 Stay safe and metal 🤘
OHHH I have been waiting for Soliwork to come back to my radar of awesomeness and this track for fucking sure finally brought them back for me!!!! Wasnt a fan of nothing past The Living Infinite (although some songs from The Ride Majestic I did like, and their first long af song A Whisp Of The Atlantic). Im hoping this will be the album with their more modern sound that will make me run back crying to them bc I still think Bjorn is my favorite vocalist in the whole world. To me he has the best voice when it comes to cleans, they mesmerize me every single time, in every single band he appears (I still love his work in guest vocals in Disarmonia Mundi).
Nice Soilwork. Distortion Sleep is probably my favorite song. 🤟
Sometimes I like guessing words in other languages... Övergivenheten. Övergiven could be übergeben (to hand over). And -heten could be an ending to make it a noun, simular to -heiten in German. "Übergebenheit" isn't a word in German, but is it something that was handed over? Am I at least close :)
Maybe close? From what the Swedes have said, it means "Abandonment".
Hell yes man!🔥🤘
Love Soilwork! I noticed no reactions to Wolfheart? Even if you don't react you have to listen.... Melodeath awesomeness
maybe surprising for most bands to not have performance shots, but everyone knows soilwork at this point, no need...
Relatively new to the melodeath, so not sure how well this generalization holds across its entirety, but Soilwork has stood out for me as well. First for their vocals, where they seem in a tier of their own, both with harshes and cleans - when I found out they've worked with DT, I thought it so fitting. And then there is this almost country-ish vibe peeking through - sometimes the instrumental touches and sometimes whole choruses that could've come from a 90s or 00s mainstream country. Very interesting band.
I consider Soilwork to be the modern day Deep Purple of metal.
They did an EP recently and it had a 16min song on it. The video is slow but the song is amazing.
You should go back and check out their previous albums, they really changed it up a few gears since FNF.
The did a double album called "The Living Infinite" which was out of this world.
Stand out songs: Spectrum of Eternity - The Momentary Bliss - Vesta - The Windswept Mercy - Long Live the Misanthrope - Rise Above the Sentiment - Owls Predict, Oracles Stand Guard (Owls is a sludge song)
To be honest every song on her is top tier.
Their follow up album "The Ride Majestic" is my personal favourite. You can listen to it from start to finish with no filler.
Death in General - Enemies in Fidelity and Father and Son, Watching the World Go Down are my top recommendations.
Fucking love this band. Soilwork is one of two bands (along with Amon Amarth) that got me into melodic death metal (and heavier metal in general) when I was in high school. Always have a special place in my heart. But nostalgia aside, they never miss with their releases. Their last few albums have been incredible. You should listen to their last couple albums and their EP they released recently (the EP tells a story and they released a music video for each song on the EP so that's how you should experience it).
Have you heard Björn's side project The Night Flight Orchestra? They're a classic rock vibe and amazing, too.
Really hope to see you get on that new Falling in Reverse!
Oh I will!
Dang, i loved it!
This album is an absolute masterpiece.
Soilwork is indeed a fond memory of younger years. If i recall things correctly they are one of the bands from the Swedish west coast that emerged around the late 90's / early 2000. In Flames, Dark Tranquility were other similar bands at the time (and perhaps At the Gates and The Haunted, although they differ a bit from the three mentioned).
Soilwork and In Flames produced a video each where the other band is in the video by the way. Those are a bit amusing.
Anyhow. Lost track of Soilwork for a good while, but when they released Stålfågel (Steel bird) they grew on me again.
Yeah, I remember that video for "Rejection Role" that In Flames was in, basically trolling them the entire time. Hahaha. It was on MTV2 back in the day all the time.
@@TankTheTech That's the one! And you'll find Soilwork in the video for the song Trigger by In Flames.
@@TankTheTech haha yes that was my introduction to Soilwork! had no idea who the other guys were at the time and I remember recording the whole headbangers ball ep on tape
Been a Soilwork fan from the day I first heard Chainheart Machine all those years ago. Soilwork is like a finely aged wine. They've mellowed and become more complex with age . They've harnessed their melodic grooves of the early years with some seasoned veteran sensibilities. Bjorn's vocals are still awesome dispite loosing some of the venom he had I'm the first half of the bands discography. The more mainstream sound they now have really came into prominence with Stabbing the Drama (an excellent album in its own regard). @Tank should check out Stalfagel ft. Alissa White-Gluz from the last album, Verkligheten. Super catchy, monster chorus. Only real skipable album in the Soilwork discography in my opinion is The Ride Majestic. Not much there to sink your teeth into outside of the title track.
gotta disagree, The Ride Majestic is amazing, a bit of a grower but it has many fantastic songs on there. Sworn to a great Divide is the skippable album.
On the other hand Stalfagel actual turned out better without Alissa, which I assume is why they didn't use the version with her on the album.
soilwork = good. more please
Hi Tank.
Cool Reaction again. And pretty good choice today.
Did you check the new song by "Falling in reverse"?
You will love the song and the video.
Hughs and greetings from Germany.
I haven't yet, but it's for sure on the schedule and list of things to do.
Have you ever checked out Bjorns other band Night Flight Orchestra? It’s such a fun 80s inspired rock band.
Another band similar to this SAOR the song is BEYOND THE WALL lovely song
I used to think The Chainheart Machine would remain the pinnacle of their career and they would never do better, until I heard The Ride Majestic. It’s a rare occurrence when a band can release the best they’ve ever done so late in their discography. This album is also great and I’m so glad they’re still keeping that energy and emotion going.
I know it's a year later, but chain heart is still the pinnicle, their double alum is second, notice Peter witches is part of both...
Not a bad album here🤟🤟
Just stumbled upon your channel while looking for soilwork videos, and I liked your reaction. Subbed! And I hope you've checked out more of them since.
If not, let me recommend a few tracks from the same album, which Google slaughtered the name of completely by the way 😂
1. The godless universe
2. Vultures
3. Nous Sommes la Guerre
4. Electric again
Aaaand.. If you really feel adventurous you should check out their song A whisp of the Atlantic from their previous EP. 17 minutes, full range, pure magic! ✌️
Such a sick, catchy song my God
Nice reaction. Soilwork is really good. They are very underrated.
I love you, Tank. You're a little behind on Blind Guardian, Arch Enemy, and Falling in Reverse. They all have new songs out. Check those out. Much love to you.
This sounds like something Insomnium or Ensiferum might have written. I like it.
R.I.P David Andersson
Usually that's not my type of music that i like, but Björn is just a Genius. I first really digged "The night flight orchestra" , where he sings more and does not growl and man, he has an awesome singing voice.
The music in NFO is much more light hearted but I liked his voice, so I gave soilwork a try. Still not 100% my music, but very different to other Deathmetal. I dont know at that point if soilwork for me really is Deathmetal or if I just have a very narrow Definition of that Genre :D
Please give Night Flight Orchestra also a try, it's different, but awesome and groovy :)
Was Soilwork the band that the guest singer came from, in that Agalleon video that has the South Park-like toon for the guest singer spot?
Yup!
These guys made/make some of the best gaming music period lol
My dudes , I forgot Soilwork after Figure number 5.
I am shocked !
They ve evolved so much !
Huge discography ! Kinda chaotic for me now but I’m loving anything I put on !
New album is a banger for sure !!!
Have you reacted to Falling in Reverses' new one Voices in my Head? If so when do you think it will be on here? Thanks again for all do, and absolutely love your channel😎🍻💞
I haven't yet, but it's on the schedule!
Not a fan of later Soilwork on cd, but LIVE even that stuff SLAYS
Oh and I will be seeing them in Australia again ;)
Absolutely love this song. I used to be huge on them 10-15 years ago, but kind of forgot them the last couple of years. Btw, will you check out Polyphias new song? (Hint: great view of all the gear 👀)
Yeah, Polyphia reaction will be out this Friday.
If you cant staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand 🤤🤟
This is my first song I hear from them, love this mate!!
Övergivenheten = The abandonment, so it's a word. 😉
So when you getting Björn on for a chat?
Also you really need to go back through the last 3 albums and 1 EP. Stupidly awesome stuff. And I mean stupidly good.
Their last few music videos have been similar to this one. More or so telling a story with the videos.
Looks like latex cover the face in the video
Reaction band : Kapital - Mantra
PUT MORE BANJO INTO METAL (well, I _think_ I heard some banjo in the intro).
And slide guitar. 🙂
Aww dude you really should check out the latest single ‘Dreams of nowhere’. It’s fooking great 🤘🤘🤘🤘
It's actually not that hard computer voice makes it sound more difficult it's literally said way it's spelt
What does "Basic Ass" mean in German? Ass can have multiple meanings.
Hahahaha. In English, adding "ass" to the end of something is more of a comedic thing. It really doesn't MEAN anything in this sentence, other than to emphasize how basic the reaction is. Haha
@@TankTheTech I understand, interesting! In German there is also a second meaning for Arsch (ass). For example, if you want to say that something or someone is really slow, then you could say it/he/she is "arsch-langsam" (literally: ass slow - or slow as f*ck) I think this second usage is kinda the same in both languages. It shows once again that English and German have the same origin.
The new drummer is good, but I will forever feel like I miss Dirk in the lineup. Maybe it’s just me
Never really liked any of their stuff even if I loved the Gbg sound of the nineties. I always thought their choruses were too cheesy. This was a ride though with great melodies in the clean singing. Massive intro but I rather skip that on further listening.
Soilwork > In Flames
Band to react to: Cypecore - Chosen Chaos
Meh I don’t know, I feel like I’ve heard this all before. The album seems like reused vocal styles and melodies. Was kind of lacklustre the first play-through, nothing stood out. 🤷🏻♂️
it's a shame their live sound engineer is not my cup of tea. Went 4 times to see them live and all these 4 times the sound was terrible.... to the point i couldnt even hear which songs they were playing... A real shame
this is one of the best sounding Soilwork songs ever .... that is absolutly butchered from the start when it is played live.... please never watch the live performance ofthat song
Tank now that the album is dropped, we need more reactions!
