      I thought it would be interesting if they base rdr3 off of Blood Meridian. That heist took place literally right before chapter 1 of RDR2 so there’s really nothing you can do there. Also the obsession with Blackwater is crazy. IMO it’s better left a mystery. We already know enough to infer what happened anyways.

    20:36 Imagine rdr 3 as a native gunslinger in the peak of the wild west as you said. Maybe kind of early into the game after the prologue. And you ride in to this big western town in the desert and the native you play as discovers the white civilisation, and of the way the whites act. And one of the first sights you see as the character you play as is a brawl going on, maybe a bar fight or a duel on the street. And then after the brawl you see that the person who won the fight was Arthur in his wildest days when he was young and cocky. Would be a nice cameo and a cool way to start of an epic story for the native gunslinger.

Could be made to seem like just a 'random encounter' for arthur like he gets alot in the second game (bear traps, snake bites, poisoned people ect)

    This is my personal pick for the next RDR game. I’ve commented this in other videos, so some people could have seen this already. Keep in mind I am not a professional story writer, nor do I work for rockstar. This story of mine is really interesting to me, so I want to share it with others. Above my actual story, I think my setting is probably what they should go with.
    TLDR: Game set at the end of the Civil War, including an ex confederate soldier first protagonist, and a freed slave second protagonist. Game is focused around redemption of character and morality questions.
    I’ve said this for years the Van Der Linde Gang story should be over. There’s no way games before or after make sense. I think a game set in the last months to the end of the Civil War would be amazing. New cast of characters, possibly a soldier who has to redeem himself. The time period is a perfect balance between civilized cities and completely untamed frontiers. As a history nerd, the political landscape at the time would be so interesting to me. I think the best way to go with it would be to play as an ex confederate soldier, someone who deserted. You’re marked for death by the confederacy, the Union, and confederate loyalists after the war ends. This could set up areas of the map which are more or less hostile. As well as having ample unique antagonists. A fictional Washington DC and Richmond would be amazing. The dichotomy between the two cities would be so cool to see. Maybe the protagonist was forced to take part in a massacre and tries to redeem himself by doing good acts through criminal means. Having to always question his morality and ethicality. You would meet various characters that you run with or do missions for, sort of like RDR1, but this time you’re hunted. I eventually think this character would have to die, like prior games. The question for who the second protagonist should be is up for debate, but I think a freed slave would be the best choice. Maybe freed by our character, freed by himself, or as a result of the war. This ex slave would have to be integral to the story, so having him run with our ex solider would be essential. They would most likely meet in a hostile interaction but realize they need each other. Being on almost complete separate isles of this conflict, but both are wanted men. Mutual respect would go a long way between the two. Eventually, our second protagonist would avenge the first. There’s a lot of places our second character could go, so I will leave that up to you. Maybe a US Marshall like the real life Bass Reeves, a farmer, living off the grid, or living in plain sight in a city. Although our second protagonist should start a family and name his kid after our first character. Our characters would be motivated to be free from conflict, live on their own terms, and secure a future for themselves.
    I think R* would have to be very careful with this to not be historically inaccurate. They also would need to be extremely careful to not portray the Union as an antagonist. I wouldn’t want this to be a pro confederate, anti union game. Along with that, I don’t think portraying the Union as a bastion of good and the confederacy the epitome of evil would be good either. They also would need to portray battles with respect for the people who fought in them. I recognize that playing as an ex confederate could be controversial, so nuance would be crucial. Our character wouldn’t be a confederate ideologue, probably just a poor solider who was drafted to fight. For these reasons, I am not sure how likely R* would be willing to make this game, but they can pull it off. If done right, this story would be amazing for media in general, not just video games.
    There’s many more things that I can elaborate on, but this is just a simple outline of the story. People have brought ideas to me ranging from our second protagonist being in an African confederate unit, seeing early lemoyne raiders, Dutch’s dad, and more. Feel free to reply with more suggestions.

I just think that the RDR story with Dutch and the gang is done, anything more would either be entirely unnecessary or just lack substance. Mac Callandar game would be just perfect. I dissagree with your argument that "you can't build suspense when you already know what's gonna happen to the characters". Good prequels movies/shows/games proves that you can build up suspense even if you know what is going to happen. Mac Callandar has so much potential as a character. Davey Callandar is Micah but less evil. You can build up incredible dynamics between Mac and Davey or Mac and Micah or Davey and Micah. I already see a redemption arc for Mac Callandar. The difference between his and Arthur's redemption arc would be that Arthur changed his behavior and everyone in the gang noticed it. Mac wouldn't have the power to open himself to the world. Everyone in the gang remembered Callandar boys as a pair of crazy fools but after rdr3 we would have in mind that Mac wasn't that crazy. RDR3 with Mac as a main character as so much potential, why can't anybody else notice it??

    • @RedDeadTierLists
      @RedDeadTierLists  Месяц назад +7

      You defintely can build up suspense, but it would be hard to add stuff that would when you know that nothing really insane happened in the time from before Blackwater, it be much harder to build a story when you have ALL the constraints of RDR2 dialogue, and it would be much easier to just leave the VDL gang out of it.

    • @pinkiepie1984
      @pinkiepie1984 Месяц назад

      It's not necessarily true that nothing crazy happened before blackwater. We do know that they were on the run from the west. I think that showing some of the things that other gang members had to deal with would be incredible

    • @pinkiepie1984
      @pinkiepie1984 Месяц назад +3

      Plus we know the gang has been being pushed out of the west for some time. Arthur doesn't mention any deaths leading into the blackwater job but that's not to say they didn't happen. If there were people who were kinda in the gang (think trulany) then it's possible that Arthur wouldn't have mentioned them. We know that at the beginning of the story Arthur is not a super nice person, so it wouldn't be out of the range of possibility for him to just not care about their health. Especially when you consider that even with his development he still is more worried about trulany talking when is taken rather than being worried about his health. That would allow for new characters and events that would include but not revolve around the main part of the gang while also following the story we know already

    • @ultimate.spidey
      @ultimate.spidey Месяц назад +5

      @@RedDeadTierLists I disagree with you. Because RDR2 did just that- building suspense out of a backstory within the constraints of RDR1. It’s a new story that ties perfectly with the first game. So why not make RDR3 just that. Tying in perfectly with the start of RDR2.
      And don’t even get me started on how Mac would make a perfect protagonist gameplay-wise.
      I imagine the story having different beats, apart from the last mission as Mac Callander, where the ending beats of RDR2 occur, not only as a reference but also as the redemption arc for our protagonist concludes in a different yet familiar way.
      Just imagine the ending. A Mac Callander who slowly dies (like Arthur) in Blackwater shot up and then gets his body filled with bullets by one of the antagonists, agent Milton (like John). With his last redeeming action (and one of the few throughout the game) being saving our beloved Arthur which begins to be the man we later see in RDR2. Exactly how Arthur redeems himself by saving our beloved John who slowly morphs into the man he is in the original game.
      Also I think the constraints and limitations could be used as an advantage to make the story go above and beyond the simple storytelling techniques and out of the box thinking to surprise fans. If there’s one company that can write such a story it’s Rockstar.
      P.S:
      I’ve got lots of ideas I’d love to share with you on this topic in particular. How can I?! Please let me know!

      I also think a game starring the Callander brothers holds a lot of potential, I could imagine they’re dynamic being similar to that of Daryl and Merle from TWD. With one brother (Mac) who starts the game as a Isolated hothead but finds a family in the Vanderlinde gang which creates conflict and tension between the two. While the other brother (Davey) is still stuck in his old ways but eventually towards the climax decides to be better for the love he has for his brother. That way they can both have their own arc and redemption story.

    One thing I've never seen mentioned is that we could play as Micah's brother, who's mentioned to have gone straight in a letter he sent to Micah (You can find it in camp during Shady Belle at the place you go talk to Strauss for the money lending and other sins V i believe?), it implies that Micah ran with his brother for a while, but said brother (I think his name was Amos) feels bad about his outlaw days with micah and tries to be a better man. The story could be like their outlaw days (but that'd be too cliche right?) so i think do something like RDR2 where Amos and Micah split up at the beginning of the game, with a failed heist or micah thinking Amos betrayed him so he decides to run before Micah kills him, and eventually at the end, we can see Amos with his family. Maybe at the end he could get gunned down by the law for running with micah? that's a lot of parallels though.

    There is still material in Arthur's story that they could create content from , starting with him meeting Dutch and his life up until just after the Blackwater Ferry job . They could also have you play as one of the characters who die at the beginning of RDR2 and have you then jump over to Arthur as you do when you go from Arthur to John and from John to Jack in RDR1 . Another option could be to have a continued story line after RDR2 and before RDR1 that involves John going off to help Charles with starting his family and returning the favor of helping him build your house . There could be multiple missions created around that task as well as opening up a map of Canada . You could then also have an arc of missions where you go to help Sadie in South America , which would open up additional gangs and map areas . You also have Rains Fall and the Native Americans who have fled to Canada who John could help out and have mission quests. Canada and South America would still be wild areas at that time period .

    So I would be completely open picking up right where we left off in 1914 with Jack and tell the story of him going on the run for being suspected of killing Edgar Ross. 1 last old west story.
    World War I is a non-issue. Rdr1 ends in 1914 but America doesn’t join the war until April 1917. But regardless the entire war from start to finish was never once fought on American soil. So you can easily just leave the war as something that’s only mentioned in newspapers or by npc’s.

Law chases, like rdr2, yadda yadda yadda, las mission could be like the law has found the gang, no escape, they run into the mines and have a huge shootout, then the law starts using dynamite, locks the gang inside the cave, law hears a few gunshots and then all the gang is dead. For epilogue, let's say a few gang members escaped the law before being forced into the caves. One of them could be the gang's sniper. The best surviving member would be getting hung, and the mission starts from first-person pov of the best member, rope is shot, and a huge shootout to kick off the epilogue.

Some types would be needed for certain missions like snipers or girls for distractions. Camp members would also have stat bars in camp to show how hungry they are, how sick they are, what diseases they have, and how happy they are. I’ve got an idea for a game that people might not love but I think it might fit in with the story.
    Game set in 1909 (Ik it’s not a western but the entire red dead redemption franchise is ab the dying west and this game could still be more Wild West like) anyway in rdr1 John makes a comment which is meant to make his character more tragic and his backstory more deep, but he says he had a daughter but she died. In the first chapter of this game she dies in a home attack, John is obviously furious and goes after revenge and tries tracking them down which makes Abigail and Jack furious.
    As for a map expansion the attackers could’ve fled to Canada and get the help of Charles and Sadie to help kill the attackers (it’s likely they’d both help and it will make sense very soon) I think during the pursuit both Sadie and Charles should die, hear me out, this sounds bad but the entire game shows people who get revenge as people who get karma the hardest and it makes no sense for John to die in rdr1 and that’s his punishment for looking back, but Sadie and Charles run off Scott free. So I feel like Sadie and Charles could die in the pursuit for revenge to conclude there arc. In the end John can either end his revenge and give up which his redemption of the story, where he realised his daughters gone and he can’t do anything about it, or he goes after his revenge and gets his payback in rdr1.
    This might be a shitty story idea but I think it makes sense and fits with themes and can add more depth to John. The story can also explain how John seems even more shut off in rdr1 and how jack mentions him leaving all the time in rdr1.

    I think a Lyle Morgan game should be heavily considered, or at least someone who ran with him in a gang or something. Lyle could’ve been a terrible man at first, beating or abusing his child at least mentally, doing bad things, but as he sees his grow and he realizes all the bad he’s done then he finally does something good which maybe saves Arthur, which is why he keeps his hat, and it leads to Lyle being executed. Then maybe we play as Arthur. We have to consider that when thinking about a story as well, because so far both games you’ve played as a new character at the end. But also playing as a member of the gang is a good way of getting close, but not too close to Arthur and his father and seeing those bad things. The game be about that person seeing Lyle die, realizing all their bad they’ve done together or something. And it would work well with letting us play as Arthur at the end, which could also time jump to when he’s a young adult and just falling in with Dutch and Hosea. And now we have the origin story of the gang. Just like we got the origin story of John Marston, and Beechers hope.

    When looking at the maps of both games, there is a section to the top right that looks like it would be the next section for a prequel, they did talk about being up in the northern parts of the states by Montana, it would make sense before getting down to black water they were in the northern parts beyond the grizzlies, in a Colorado type area. In the beginning of Arthur’s journal he talks of a fire and nonsense in the north

    In the peak Wild West it’s 1876, you spawn in as a player hiding from an outlaw trying to kill him. By your side is 15 year old Landon Ricketts (That’s when they give new players a tutorial) You do end up killing them and find your horse dead so u jump on someone’s wagon. (Leave them for dead) and have a talk about some other stuff, we learn that your name is Richard Anderson and your family moved here when you were 8 but the property they bought was owned by a serial killer, (then it will flash back to a scene where your huddled in your bed listening to the screams of your parents) then you have to control the player and leave the house then it will fade white and head back to a part where you and Landon Ricketts go to the store and there is a mission that says duel “Legendary gunslinger Harvey Coleman” If you died it will respawn you at an old cabin near the town you were just at and Landon will be sitting beside you and then a doctor will come up and say you got shot and your health will be half as low then Landon says I’ve got some money let’s grab you a nice horse, you respond and say I’m shot so he’ll yah. You have an option between 5 horses but the last one is locked . After you buy the horse Landon asks if you’re heading back to camp or staying at the town. If you choose to head back you will meet a new gang. But it’s different. It’s similar to a group of Good people and each has a part of the law. You are the newest member only being inducted 8 months ago. The leader is a chief known as Mr. Khan he is an Asian man who was born in America and fell in love with crime but the correct side of crime. If you chose to stay back you have an opportunity to do a bounty mission but first you have to buy better weapons and ammo because Harvey took it. Then you do the bounty mission.
    If you won the duel against Harvey automatically it will show you how honor levels work giving you +5 honor. Then you learn that you’re all out of bullets when it shows you how to look at your weapon wheel. Landon asks if you’re heading back to camp or staying at the town. If you chose to stay back you have an opportunity to do a bounty mission but first you have to buy better weapons and ammo because the duel costed you your bullets. Then you do the bounty mission.
    THAT IS WHAT RDR3 SHOULD BE
    yes I know that being a lawman would limit your ability to play in sandbox mode but if you arnt doing missions you can Litteraly walk around and kill people and get the police called on you as long as you change outfits and wear a mask 🗿

    Also, have to give it to you. People just spew out their ideas they formed in their heads without giving them a single thought about implications and how they would work, and you seems to be the only person so far i've seen that rejected all these dumb theories bcz they actually wouldn't work in the grand scheme of things.

    On a side note i saw from other comment. Seeing as RDR3 would be the last game in the story, as shown from the difficulty of coming up with a story that makes sense, Red Dead Revenge would actually kinda be a good "spin-off" type of game where it would be a continuation as supposed to other games which are prequels.
    I was VERY against the idea of playing as Jack after the events of RDR1, but imagine starting the game in events right before ending of WW1 where you do some side stuff, no real battles (huge gun fights kinds wouldn't work at the start of the game) as WW1 wouldn't be the main aspect of the game so no point of making it huge, just enough to show he had some hardships, maybe PTSD, idk... Then you get home and connect with one of your buddies from the war and he gets you into low ranks of the Mafia where you would do basic missions like driving alcohol around, taking protection money (low level stuff like the start of GTA SA) etc, just to get thing going. You could also make chapters where you travel to other city and at the end you would have some type of thing where you would come up at the top, like a mafia boss, where you would fight your buddy who became jealous of you, and as the story isnt "Redemption", rather "Revenge" you wouldn't have to die, or maybe you could, idk... Sounds fun, and come to think of it, its almost a copy of GTA SA

    Here in Brazil we had a wild west of our own, called cangaço, that could be a nice place for her. It had all the repeaters, revolvers, small towns, government trying to slowly creep in, and local corrupt rulers called Coroneis.
    I know they would never make a game set somewhere with basically no English speakers, but it's an interesting idea for a guarma-like chapter, with her starting in another country and then going back to the US for some reason and finding out John is dead.
    Her arc is complete, but I do think there could be more with this character.

    I would like to see a character that used to be a lawman but didn’t see true justice so he went out and became a outlaw killing other outlaws, but there’s twists, like; you can become a sociopath and his character takes a more Dutch like feel, where he’s lost empathy and became a sociopath lying to himself as if it’s the greater good.
    I think this could work really well, he could be a famous gunslinger and could still be a lawman. But you can also have an outlaw, I think it should be set in the late 1880’s or the early 1900’s after the events of RDR2. The 1880’s idea is more in the Wild West prime and there could be reference to Dutch or Arthur, with also characters like Milton appearing and it making sense.
    I think this game could also be some kind of follow up to Red Dead Revolver and set in that area, maybe even a mission with Harlow, expand on what happened to him.
    That’s just my concept

    I think something that would work out is to have a protagonist set in the early years of when Dutch and Colm were business associates. The protagonist could have had contact with some of the characters we already know, maybe even Arthor or Dutch. Being a completely new character involved in events that aren't specific to the vanderland would mean they don't have to make things fit but still include somethings that are familiar.
