Dude. Two separate studios work on red dead redemption two and GTA online. I’m tired of seeing this take on every cut contact video. In game development a lot of stuff gets cut out due to time constraints or file size bloat or just new ideas. You can tell there was a lot of stuff removed from the game or just never fully developed bc they wanted to get it out on time. Like with all those things that Arthur sketches in his notebook... the strange trees, the hobbit house, the burned out town. Even the witch's hut. There must have been some story connected to those places. My theory is that there was supposed to have been some more side missions, but they spent so much time developing the world, when it came time to develop the missions etc. it was already too late. It wouldve been great if Rockstar had released some of this cut content as DLC but instead they gave up on this game altogether.
I'm sure some of them, but that's just how it is. You can't have a detailed in depth story on every single little encounter. They are POI, not a side quest bro.
If you have the RDR2 strategy guide; you can see several photos of Arthur in New Austin as well as Arthur wearing the Legend of the East outfit. This is likely because Piggyback was working in tandem with R* to write the guide and was given an advanced copy of the game where Arthur did have access to New Austin; or at least everywhere but Blackwater.
Something else that confused me from the guide is that it mentions jailbreaking as a means to lower honor and raise bounty, because it is included in a list of behaviors and activities that you have direct control over, whereas in the game all of the jailbreaking sequences are cutscenes that may or may not happen regardless whether or not you want them to, and only some of them involve actually breaking out and contribute to your wanted level. Maybe there was supposed to be a means by which you could snatch the guards and grab the keys, or use a stealth weapon that was later cut, similar to how you can surrender to arrest or submit to highway robbery only to turn it around at the critical moment?
This is just me but a RDR 2 Deluxe Edition with most cut content for PS5/Xbox Series S & X would sell alot a copies and make Rockstar a bunch more money
I mean I think they could do this with using modders, but it doesn't really make sense for Rockstar themselves to develop a cut content version, because they have more important things to focus on (GTA 6). Rockstar kinda hates using other people to make their stuff tho.
In the game where you can literally mame people and animals with dynamite, molotovs, explosive arrows, shotguns, knives, run them over with horses and crush them under wagon wheels, but obese people is where Rockstar draws the line? No. The possible reason why obese npcs were cut, was probably due to animation and collision. All regular npcs share the same rig and animations, but with obese npcs they probably had to make a separate rig and animations for them, which meant they had to make sure objects don't clip into them, new horse/wagon riding animation, shooting, taking cover and fist fighting animation, not to mention all of the work the devs had to do with how obese npcs would interact with world around them and whatnot. So the most likely reason Rockstar cut obese npcs was probably due to time or development issues. not offending people.
Johns head being sawed onto Arthur's body is one of the reasons I think people don't want to play as him, he is just so unnatural to watch, the animations are awful too.

I think the exclusion for obese people was because of the technical clipping issue with animation due to having a larger model. You can't really use the average armature animation for larger body sizes without clipping themselves which is common in games. I don't really think Rockstar was that overly sensitive or scared over backlash about obesity.

Honest to goodness I really wish they'd at least update John's model and animations. Additionally, Geldings would've been a great addition. Mares and stallions are a bit notorious for being moody and testy, particularly with inexperienced owners/riders. Geldings are popular specifically because they're known for being calmer for the most part. They could've maybe made them generally less sensitive to being spooked or quieter in the snow. I've also never understood why quarter horses aren't in this game lol. They would've fit perfectly with rustling livestock which also would've been fun

I think safe houses could’ve been a way to generate money for the gang and Arthur. Iirc, before the gang had to leave blackwater Hosea and Arthur were discussing potential real estate to make money for the gang. Like Arthur can choose to stay there but when he doesn’t use it, it generates a profit

rockstar has cancelled so much things. cant believe we had 3 DLCS cut from gta 5 story mode. 1. this was gonna be a gta 5 story mode DLC and it was gonna be undead nightmare style and it was gonna drop somewhere between halloween 2014 or halloween 2015 where u fight zombies and have to survive but the mode was cut mid development due to some financing issues i think. 2. the second gta 5 DLC was gonna be about Lamar. kinda like gta san andreas. it was gonna be set after gta 5 story mode and u play as lamar and his dealings and gang life. but that was cut. plus lamar was also gonna be a full playable character in storymode but that was cut bc his voice actor went to prison and they couldnt really schedule a release date for the DLC so they just cut it mid production 3. another gta 5 DLC. this was gonna be about trevor. he was gonna be recruited by some CIA secret agency into doing missions for them but i think these missions were put into online. 4. Bully 2. This game was i think cancelled somewhere in 2017. It was in production and development but rockstar just abandoned it and stopped production so that they could make RDR2 into the best. 5. I think we were supposed to get a GTA 4 remastered/port to ps4 somewhere in 2016-2018 but the port had issues before release so rockstar cancelled that too. But for RDR2, guarma couldve been so much more. the cut content was crazy.

Mexico (and everything south of Strawberry) was added super late in development. Some of the earliest Maps that were leaked and found within the game files all show that everything tied to RDR1 wasn't part of the overall explorable map until very late in development. Which is why there is some evidence of Arthur being able to go to places like New Austin but it was scrapped due to typical time restraints. There's a channel called BasementGamerBros that show off all the different versions of the map and what time during development those maps existed. They have a number of really good analysis' of various cut stuff from the game. Also, I'm almost certain that Eliza was two different characters at some point but people keep conflating them together because they have the same name. Let me explain, the Eliza with missions was the niece of the Guarma Ship Captain, the one that takes you Dutch and co back home. You didn't meet her until that portion of the game and it's the reason why John doesn't meet her until the epilogue because he was locked up when she was around the gang and if she was there from the beginning then there is certain no reason for John to never have known about her until the epilogue(this also coincides with being able to revisit Guarma as well). Then, she was scrapped and rewritten into the Sadie character(they both share the same characteristic of getting herself into danger so it makes sense to keep that trait) Then, They took the name Eliza and made her Issac's mom, then once again decided to cut her down to a passing mention by Arthur. This just my way of thinking as a ton of people seem confused about who or what she was when they were making the game, but to me, it makes more sense that they just played musical chairs with the character and name so she was never just one person at any point and time.
The early maps that were leaked ended up being one half of the physical map with all old map stuff being on the back of that map. It's not that all the old map stuff didn't exist, it's just that the actual map was broken into two pieces and only the east half leaked

The John thing isn’t true, rockstar made him look like Arthur for no reason. In the files a beta model, animations and clothes as well as cutscenes were found that were meant for John but ultimately cut and replaced with Arthur’s assets. John’s real cut assets were modded in by modders and it shows they work completely fine with no issues whatsoever. Also replacing models doesn’t affect cutscenes as proven by those modded videos where people replace John or Arthur with Sadie or Abigail. John looks the way he does for no reason at all

I don't think that explore Mexico area was planned, devs just copied from prequel along with New Austin area, so they just needed to polishing New Austin area for sequel. Mexico area is just leftover of that copy and paste - I think that's the reason why some objects are placed weirdly.

Imagine the fun that could be had with something like a Stranger Mission where, if you're riding a stallion, it scents a mare in heat, throws you, and you need to go track down your horse, where you meet someone with a quest for you? Or, conversely, if you're riding a mare, the stranger has a stallion that runs up on you, and your mare throws you, so then you have to go track them both down. Maybe bonus foal content to be had later in the story - would fit well for a foal to show up right when Kieran joins the gang, given he knows his way around horses. Meanwhile, if you were riding a gelding, you'd miss all that fun, because well, geldings are nice and uncomplicated to deal with, no hormones governing their behavior the way they do for mares and stallions.

Dude. Two separate studios work on red dead redemption two and GTA online. I’m tired of seeing this take on every cut contact video. In game development a lot of stuff gets cut out due to time constraints or file size bloat or just new ideas. To imply that all of this was going to be great Content that was cut out because the evil executives wanted more money to go to GTA online is ridiculous.

You can tell there was a lot of stuff removed from the game or just never fully developed bc they wanted to get it out on time. Like with all those things that Arthur sketches in his notebook... the strange trees, the hobbit house, the burned out town. Even the witch's hut. There must have been some story connected to those places. My theory is that there was supposed to have been some more side missions, but they spent so much time developing the world, when it came time to develop the missions etc. it was already too late.
It wouldve been great if Rockstar had released some of this cut content as DLC but instead they gave up on this game altogether.
The trees are made by native Americans to point out landmarks normally water sources. It’s just apart of the world building.

If you have the RDR2 strategy guide; you can see several photos of Arthur in New Austin as well as Arthur wearing the Legend of the East outfit. This is likely because Piggyback was working in tandem with R* to write the guide and was given an advanced copy of the game where Arthur did have access to New Austin; or at least everywhere but Blackwater.
That's unfair, why could he go to NA but not us?
Something else that confused me from the guide is that it mentions jailbreaking as a means to lower honor and raise bounty, because it is included in a list of behaviors and activities that you have direct control over, whereas in the game all of the jailbreaking sequences are cutscenes that may or may not happen regardless whether or not you want them to, and only some of them involve actually breaking out and contribute to your wanted level. Maybe there was supposed to be a means by which you could snatch the guards and grab the keys, or use a stealth weapon that was later cut, similar to how you can surrender to arrest or submit to highway robbery only to turn it around at the critical moment?

They didn't cut this content to "get the game out on time" they cut all the content in order to focus on developing Red Dead online.

The possible reason why obese npcs were cut, was probably due to animation and collision.
All regular npcs share the same rig and animations, but with obese npcs they probably had to make a separate rig and animations for them, which meant they had to make sure objects don't clip into them, new horse/wagon riding animation, shooting, taking cover and fist fighting animation, not to mention all of the work the devs had to do with how obese npcs would interact with world around them and whatnot.
So the most likely reason Rockstar cut obese npcs was probably due to time or development issues. not offending people.

I think the exclusion for obese people was because of the technical clipping issue with animation due to having a larger model. You can't really use the average armature animation for larger body sizes without clipping themselves which is common in games. I don't really think Rockstar was that overly sensitive or scared over backlash about obesity.
We're in a time where any of this stuff could be restored at any point but rockstar dont see it as financially beneficial

There's so much they've cut. I could've loved that Charles mission for example. Also taking Molly to that Golden Cage mission.
Honest to goodness I really wish they'd at least update John's model and animations. Additionally, Geldings would've been a great addition. Mares and stallions are a bit notorious for being moody and testy, particularly with inexperienced owners/riders. Geldings are popular specifically because they're known for being calmer for the most part. They could've maybe made them generally less sensitive to being spooked or quieter in the snow. I've also never understood why quarter horses aren't in this game lol. They would've fit perfectly with rustling livestock which also would've been fun

cant believe we had 3 DLCS cut from gta 5 story mode.
1. this was gonna be a gta 5 story mode DLC and it was gonna be undead nightmare style and it was gonna drop somewhere between halloween 2014 or halloween 2015 where u fight zombies and have to survive but the mode was cut mid development due to some financing issues i think.
2. the second gta 5 DLC was gonna be about Lamar. kinda like gta san andreas. it was gonna be set after gta 5 story mode and u play as lamar and his dealings and gang life. but that was cut. plus lamar was also gonna be a full playable character in storymode but that was cut bc his voice actor went to prison and they couldnt really schedule a release date for the DLC so they just cut it mid production
3. another gta 5 DLC. this was gonna be about trevor. he was gonna be recruited by some CIA secret agency into doing missions for them but i think these missions were put into online.
4. Bully 2. This game was i think cancelled somewhere in 2017. It was in production and development but rockstar just abandoned it and stopped production so that they could make RDR2 into the best.
5. I think we were supposed to get a GTA 4 remastered/port to ps4 somewhere in 2016-2018 but the port had issues before release so rockstar cancelled that too.
But for RDR2, guarma couldve been so much more. the cut content was crazy.

Mexico (and everything south of Strawberry) was added super late in development. Some of the earliest Maps that were leaked and found within the game files all show that everything tied to RDR1 wasn't part of the overall explorable map until very late in development. Which is why there is some evidence of Arthur being able to go to places like New Austin but it was scrapped due to typical time restraints. There's a channel called BasementGamerBros that show off all the different versions of the map and what time during development those maps existed. They have a number of really good analysis' of various cut stuff from the game.
Also, I'm almost certain that Eliza was two different characters at some point but people keep conflating them together because they have the same name. Let me explain, the Eliza with missions was the niece of the Guarma Ship Captain, the one that takes you Dutch and co back home. You didn't meet her until that portion of the game and it's the reason why John doesn't meet her until the epilogue because he was locked up when she was around the gang and if she was there from the beginning then there is certain no reason for John to never have known about her until the epilogue(this also coincides with being able to revisit Guarma as well). Then, she was scrapped and rewritten into the Sadie character(they both share the same characteristic of getting herself into danger so it makes sense to keep that trait) Then, They took the name Eliza and made her Issac's mom, then once again decided to cut her down to a passing mention by Arthur.
This just my way of thinking as a ton of people seem confused about who or what she was when they were making the game, but to me, it makes more sense that they just played musical chairs with the character and name so she was never just one person at any point and time.
The early maps that were leaked ended up being one half of the physical map with all old map stuff being on the back of that map. It's not that all the old map stuff didn't exist, it's just that the actual map was broken into two pieces and only the east half leaked

The John thing isn’t true, rockstar made him look like Arthur for no reason. In the files a beta model, animations and clothes as well as cutscenes were found that were meant for John but ultimately cut and replaced with Arthur’s assets. John’s real cut assets were modded in by modders and it shows they work completely fine with no issues whatsoever. Also replacing models doesn’t affect cutscenes as proven by those modded videos where people replace John or Arthur with Sadie or Abigail. John looks the way he does for no reason at all

I think the opposite is true, leaked early maps don’t have anything West of Blackwater in various variations, causing backlash, so c.2017 time they rushed to add as much of the RDR1 map in.
This caused the toxic infamous developer crunch headlines, so they had to tone it down.

Then why is there cut dialogue of Jeremy Gill asking Arthur to go fishing at Frontera Bridge? This is from the dialogue of Arthur in New Austin before they changed it. We even have the cutscene.

See now, that one about geldings being in the game, and the one about papers for horses? As a horse person, that they didn't include it makes me sad. Imagine the fun that could be had with something like a Stranger Mission where, if you're riding a stallion, it scents a mare in heat, throws you, and you need to go track down your horse, where you meet someone with a quest for you? Or, conversely, if you're riding a mare, the stranger has a stallion that runs up on you, and your mare throws you, so then you have to go track them both down. Maybe bonus foal content to be had later in the story - would fit well for a foal to show up right when Kieran joins the gang, given he knows his way around horses. Meanwhile, if you were riding a gelding, you'd miss all that fun, because well, geldings are nice and uncomplicated to deal with, no hormones governing their behavior the way they do for mares and stallions.
