Hi Nathan! It’s awesome to hear a comprehensive history of this location. I grew up and still reside 40 mins down I-64 from Owensboro. I only learned of Town Square North having a former Showbiz/CEC Pizza location about a year ago. I’m thrilled to see a pic of the exterior of the building from the Showbiz days. Very cool to learn that Buffalo Wild Wings is the former location as I’ve eaten in that building several times. As for why Owensboro’s location closed, I have a bit of speculation myself. Evansville’s location in Indiana is only just over half an hour down the road and was another former Showbiz turned CEC location. It remains to this day and was my childhood CEC (I’m 27). This location has always done a lot of business and it would be a great location to do a future deep dive video on.
I worked at this Showbiz from September 1985 before they opened until 1988. I hosted Birthday parties and frequently dressed in the very hot and heavy Billy Bob costume. The pizza there was the best, especially the taco! I have so many memories from there and made life long friends.
Loved thus video! Lots of memories having bday parties there as a young kid (born in 81)....couple interesting fscts for ya kind of related to this whole thing...soooo my stepfathers sister had a baby when i was probably 12 or 13...she never married the guy and i still stay in touch with her AND her daughter (who JUST got married TODAY in OWENSBORO) BUT i remember as a kid that t girls father that my stepaunt? had the daughter with was employed at SHOWBIZ and he was one of the people that put on that BILLY BOB costume!! Lol he is a police officer today, I believe. And i think his name was RICK, maybe, but ill have to ask. Also...i had my 18th bday party with like 15 other kids my age at the Chuck E. Cheese in Evansville, IN (like a half hour away from the 'Boro) and have SEVERAL pics of us literal teens/adults in the ball pit and crawling through the tunnels in that playland thing. 😅 i dont know why but after seeing this video i felt that you just NEEDED tis information! Random, I know. Again, thanks for the video and the memories!
I went on a field trip to the then-Showbiz Owensboro location in 1987-88 and they gave us a "tour" on how the animatronics worked. The annual Fourth of July show was my favorite!
I used to eat their buffet on Wednesday nights. I worked at the Ponderosa across the lot. Also, Buffalo Wild Wings was already there while CiCis was in business. Bdubs expanded in to the cicis location, after Marcia closed it. Doubled their size after the remodel.
I used to live in Owensboro for a few years and visited this Buffalo Wild Wings multiple times. As to answer your question about leftover remnants from when it was SPP/CEC, there’s very little to none. I never visited the restaurant when it was CEC but the area where the cash registers are kind of reminded me of the prize counter. But yeah, it’s all B-Dubs now. Not a lot to see. Would love to see more photos or even video surface online soon!
14:56 yep Owensboro still looks pretty much exactly like this but now we have a used game store a buffaloe wild wings and a large church in that strip mall.
In Hemet California my local Chuck E. Cheese got the 2.0 update after it opened in the 2000s it had some 2000 decor, and I do not know what type of stage it had all I know that it had the Chuck E. Cheese animatronic I remember going every single time I went there and just watching the animatronic. I even have some tokens before they got rid of the tokens. The tokens are from 1998, 2004 and 2009 one day we drove by and I saw the 2.0 update, and I was disappointed, knowing that every single old decoy that they had to destroy them, knowing that they were destroying every single 2000 decor in there especially the animatronic rip To the old Chuck E. Cheese, he will never be forgotten in the hearts of Chuck E. Cheese fans
I showed my mom the picture at 13:35, and she confirmed that it was actually the exterior for the Chuck E. Cheese's (formerly Shiwbiz Pizza Place) in my hometown of Parkersburg, WV. Unfortunately, they closed in spring of 1997, and the place is now a Plato's Closet with absolutely no remaining elements of CEC left. Edit: It turns out that the ACTUAL location is the current home of Workforce West Virginia, near the Value City building.
I live in Owensboro, and today, my 8-year-old daughter found a CEC token from 1995 at my aunt's house. I don't have a ton of memories of the CEC in Owensboro but I know I had one birthday party there and I feel like there's a good chance it was my 10th birthday, which would have been in 1995, so it's possible that token was from my 10th birthday. I'd be curious to know if my mother has any photographs of that birthday party. I do remember CiCi's Pizza being in that same location, and yes, BWW is still in operation there now.
This was fun to watch. I actually worked at that Chuck E. Cheese the last couple of years it was open and I worked from open to close on our last day of business. Those were good times.
I'm honestly just looking for any cec that still have animatronics because the one closest to me "the newburgh evansville location" has the new and "improved 😒 " didgital stage with the costume
Can you do a history video on Chuck e Cheese in Blaine Minnesota? It was the second Chuck e Cheese I went to, if you considered i thank you! I think you would have fun researching
Can you do the one in Little Rock Arkansas? Not the one that is still open in north Little Rock or the newer one. It’s closed since but when I used to go to the hospital when I was younger, I would always go there after my leukemia appointments
It is true the website still listed it, but it did in fact close in 1995 since I was able to find newspaper articles from 1995, and people on Facebook confirmed it for me
@@NathanSpies I’m guessing they auctioned some rides because they switched to phase 3. Their last show might be this: ruclips.net/video/hK6kz9sHKmI/видео.html
Can you do the history of Gastonia nc I have videos and pictures of Gastonia it opened in 2005 November 25 opened with a studio c beta and a blue screen
Chicky Cheese Closed down because of lack of business, bathrooms were always dirty Pizza was lack luster, prices to high for lack luster pizza, plus we could just got to the mall which is like right next door perant could do there shopping, we could go to Aladins Castle which was a arcade in the mall and eat at Noble Romans Pizza or Chick-fil-A,,,born and raised in Owensboro Kentucky
I have more of a soft spot for Chuck E and Jasper... I think the RAE is dying due to Aaron Fector... Cannot imagine it was easy to work with him... I heard that he is charging outrageous prices for RAE dolls and I also heard that he was bullying the FANS..... That to me is Pathetic if true...
Hell yes they did. And...if 'not kid friendly sauce' meant tat kids were choking on things like tomato chunks... I'm thinking that perhaps the kids are a little too young to eating pizza has in....wait til they have teeth. Lol
I forgot to ask this in the video so I'm asking it here:
Do you think Chuck E. Cheese has another chance at opening a Owensboro Kentucky location?
For your next location video can you do the location in Western NY?
You forgot a chuck e cheese Owensboro that is open
idk what to call this there isn't one, this was the only location in Owensboro
Ok
Break the 2 0 dance floor
The "not kid friendly" pizza sauce possibly refers to pizza sauce with either chunks of meat or tomatoes that small children could get choked on

Do you remember that they'd had special Fourth of July shows every year? I was mesmerized.
I remember being at this location for my b'day back in '94 on Sept. 7th; I was 10 at the time

It’s pronounced ant-e-ock I think? It says they named the spider after the first showbiz location in the Antioch mall in Kansas City
yes that's correct

13:35 i wonder what location used that sign
As a resident of Owensboro the out side of the building was white with colorful lines of polkadot on the side very flashy
I’ve been looking for info on the Owensboro Chuck E. Cheese for years! This is awesome to see… thank you!

That would be cool
You should do a video on the history of the mascot bowl and the mascots that play
I live in Owensboro, I remember all of it. Showbiz, cec and cicis. Unfortunately there is no evidence of any of these in Buffalo wild wings

there was absolutely nothing from CEC left in the BW3 location, there was a haunted house and some other seasonal junk in there between the switchover
You actually said Frederica correctly!!!
Great video 👍
