I am still at minute 25 but isn't the methodology flawed? You need to look at ALL the companies that 'surprised" on the earnings and see how these stocks did as a WHOLE .

That's a fair point
I think the added caveat here must be if the market hasn't already factored in the growth. In an efficient market, earnings catalyst should work 100% of the times - the times it doesn't are those 'when the markets already know about the surprise'
