When i try to do this the menu.cvs file look like a table not a bunch of words

I keep getting "FATAL ERROR : EXCEPTION" whenever i add it to my config.blk file, i will paste the text here :

The code looks good, I haven't got the fatal error thing before, Ima test it out. Probably the latest update might have screwed up this method. I am not sure yet.

i downloaded wra thunder from google and not steam. is there any way to do it like that?
you can right click on the desktop icon or the launcher icon and click on properties and open file location.

It would be the same method as in the tutorial.
When I put "testLocalization:b=yes" in the file mentioned in the video, and try to open War thunder, it crashes, it doesn't even open, how do I solve this?
shows a crash screen saying "exception"

Guys make sure you click save after you edit the debug file. If you do not the lang file wont appear.
Just as A tip, I also had the Issue that my lang folder didnt appear... double, triple and quadrouple check if you really spelt "testLocalization:b=yes" correctly, coz I didnt notice I put an s instead of a z and thats why it didnt work for 30 min. or so of trying... just saying ;)

My lang folder wont show up
Make sure your typed in testLocalization:b=yes correctly and also inside the curly brackets { } of debug line.
Example:

Save file, start the game, and the lang folder should appear.

When i get a critical hit it only says hit even when the engine is gone for example even though i did it how you did it
it kinda happens to me too and i still don't know how to fix it, all I did was delete the lang folder and redo everything and it starts to work again properly.
actually it works it's just that for some reason it doesn't work in the test drive
@@j3zzaboii152 oh maybe it's only in test drive, but in actual game it works fine for me, but in test drive I also wasn't able to get the critical hit to pop up.
when i go to open config.blk it says select an app to open this blk file but i don't have anything to open it with does anyone know what to do?
isnt notepad a default app?
if you don't have a default app, try scrolling for notepad, it should be there, if it's not there, click on "Choose an app on your pc" and search for your notepad.

If you don't have the debug line in the config.blk, try adding it like this.
debug{
testLocalization:b=yes
}
what you can also do is delete or move your config.blk, start the game, you will lose all of your graphic and audio settings but it will create a new config.blk.
if you managed to get the debug line in the config.blk to appear, add the testLocalization:b=yes line in the debug line like I shown earlier in this comment, save the config.blk, run the game. The lang folder shall appear immediately after. Also make sure that you typed this testLocalization:b=yes correctly.

try using control f and search for "target destroyed"
REMEMBER, every time War Thunder drops an update or even a hotfix, you are going to need to redo everything for your Custom Kill Messages for it to work again and not cause the text bug.
hey, is custom kill message only for high tier tanks / vehicles?

@@silver20-00 make sure to spam the save button or save file for the config in notepad, and then launch the game, if that didn't work, make sure that the config file is not set to read only the properties.

to fix that, you have to redo everything. delete lang folder and repeat all the steps. Every time War Thunder updates, you have to repeat the steps sadly.

Did you start the game after applying the text lines in the config? if you did, try smashing the save button because sometimes notepads does weird things like not saving it at all.

After applying and saving the config, I opened WT and it didnt create the lang folder.

I tried the tip of saving the cofig.blk file after launching and exiting the game, then trying again.

if you only have one line in your debug line, it should be fine, just add in the testLocalization:b=yes. I don't know what line you have in your debug but I assume it would be the screenshotAsJpeg:b=yes line. If that's the line you have, try this.

Leave it, if it doesn't work, try moving the config.blk to the desktop and run the game fully like what I did in the video just to reset the config.

I did everything you showed, and the lang folder is stubborn. No matter what I've tried, it doesn't want to show up???

It says custom localization is active when I open war thunder, but my lang file will not show (using steam)

maybe i missed it but how did you make it so the other text is not sown in code form ex. germ_marder_a1 instead of Marder A1
I think I said it before the ending of the video, WT just released another update earlier, so you need to delete the lang folder and start WT and well redo all of the custom text you need.

Are you using nvidia or amd? usually the debug line contains code for a certain gpu. as long as you add the line inside the brackets, it should work.
i tried this method it went pretty well but this update ruined everything and the "menu" file got deleted i got the text bug and idk how to restore it
Try deleting the whole lang folder and also remove everything you added in the config.blk

So i tried this but i lost all my in game progress when removing my old blk file to the new one. What do i need to do?
In game progress shouldn't be affected by removing the config.blk, do you mean graphics settings? You got to setup your audio and graphic settings again when you'll delete the old blk, and don't forget to enable the anticheat in the launcher too.
For some reason all my progress is gone when logging in again. This happened during the time i changed the blk so it would make the lang file.i tried changing all my blk settings to the ones i had before but it unfortunately didn't work.@@CineSparky
Gaijin released a patch fix regarding that, it was from their side.

I've Done everything but now my game keeps crashing
I haven't tried this one again because I was busy, Gaijin might've changed something up again

Just delete the file, relaunch the game to create a new menu file

@@CineSparky ok so if I delete the menu file and go into war thunder then go back into menu folder it will all be back to default
When i open the lang file it only has 4 options and no menu.csv
It must be due to war thunders latest update, I will check if it also happens to me

I'm not sure how but my menu.csv is a excel doc and I edited it and it didn't work but also the test localization in config.blk wasn't there for both created documents If anyone could help it would be useful

if its a CSV file is it possible to be opened on something like excel to make it more readable then exporting it as a CSV again?
On the top of my game, just below the exit title screen, it says that Test localization is enabled. Is it normal if it says that in red text?
That's from Gaijins latest update, I'm going to test this out tonight and see if I can make another hopefully final follow up tutorial for this.

wait, you too! I just had an issue with war thunder earlier, try moving the config.blk in the desktop and let the game create a new one, hopefully it helps you, cause it helped me. Also if you're able to create a lang folder, also delete it.

Hey CineSparky, everything worked except for Critical hit thingy idk why the whole line is exactly the same as shown in the video
I haven't tried this method yet, I will test it out soon to see if things are outdated because of the new critical hit system.
