RIP Neil Peart. September 12, 1952 - January 7, 2020 (Age 67). He is and always will be the best drummer in the world. Nobody can't even come close to matching his style. The king of the drumming world. I grew up spending countless hours listening to Rush songs on MTV and Stereo Panama radio station from 1984- 1991. He wrote most of Rush song lyrics by adding a unique mix of ancient philosophy, comic books and strong messages that shaped my teenage years. Great nostalgia. Neil Peart you will remain forever closer to the heart of all Rush fans worldwide !
I will always know Neil as the Master of the Drum Kit from a Rock n Roll perspective but in my honest opinion the only drummer who surpasses Neil is Buddy Rich.
The fans in RIO are amazing. Every time I see them on every live Rush song the sheer enthusiasm brings a smile to my face. One of the best bands of all time with the best fans of all time!
The audience participation and enthusiasm at this show was phenomenal! Hear them shouting on every snare hit at the beginning...they are louder than the sound system! Rush said they were astounded at the crowd here.
I had the pleasure of seeing Neil play live 36 times dating back to 1977! It is Clear to me that EVERY Modern drummer Emulates him to some point. Neil is a true pioneer, and that Emulation is his Legacy!
I have appreciated Mr. Peart for decades. I still cant believe he is Xanadu. You and Rush have been a beacon for many a youth for many moons. Every time I listen to Rush, I am 18 again. I'm 57.
Even if you're not a drummer La Villa Strangiato is at the bare minimum worthy of some vigorous finger and foot-tapping. Arguably one of the most wonderfully complex and ambitious RUSH compositions. Thank you Neil and RIP!
One of the greatest drumming performances ever... And He did this time and time again.. To The Great Stone Face.. Whom I saw at least 5 times.. Hope to see you play this in heaven.. Rest in Peace.
Neil Peart is undispudedy the best composer of percussion in rock history . Nobody even comes close . As for as " best drummer" , that title is subjective. As far as that goes, Neil Peart , Jon Bonhan , and many others are so good that us mortals really can't rate them . RIP Mr. Peart. I consider him the best musician to ever hold a drumstick. Prove me wrong.
The precision and execution of these three together always leaves me in awe. Learning this song on guitar in my teens was an incredible challenge. Rush set a standard that will never be matched. Neil's passing has left a huge void, but his legacy will continue to inspire present and future generations. RIP Professor.
Each and every one of us; Rush fan or not has lost one of the most; if not the most prolific percussionist of all time. As well writing the bands lyrics; a timeless lyricist and poet. “Bell tolls for thee.”
1 of the best 3 musicians ever to grace the stage! Your fans will definitely miss your presence Neil! May peace and comfort come to the Peart family, and Neil's friends during this difficult time.

No offense to all the great drummers out there, but Neil was just simply on another level. So smooth playing the hardest drum riffs on a regular basis night in and out. A damn master of control and power...I mean, it's just outstanding. Thank you Neil.
I first heard Rush in 1983, from a cassette, that was the moment I fell in love with the band, especially when I heard and saw the phenomenal Neil Peart's skill of drumming. My late fiancee, a rock drummer, was also a fan of Peart. I was in a deep shocked when I read the news about Peart passed away. I cried hard, it hurts, I know nobody will ever play drum like Peart in this world, he was the greatest, the one and only. The date of Neil Peart's death was in the same date of my beloved late fiancee's birthday, January 7th. What a coincident. Rest easy and Rock in Peace, Neil Peart and Arry Yanuar. I believe you two having fun playing drum together in heaven. Farewell to two humble genius gentlemen that I adore much. Your legacies will remains.😔💔⚘💙

I agree their songs are deep and heady, but I can't agree that no other band can write songs so excellent. That's not a very well thought out or accurate statement. Ever listened to Pink Floyd's entire catalog? I don't just mean their most popular stuff like Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. From 1967 to 1983 they released 13 albums with the original line up, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright, and Nick Mason. Plus a few more after Roger left the band. If you listen to all their albums and still don't agree they are at least as brilliant as Rush, there's something wrong. Ok, next, Led Zeppelin. Ummm....yeah.
Been mourning all day.... My first concert was Rush Signals tour in '82. My first CD was Moving Pictures which I took to the local Circuit City store and played as loud as I could in the sound room. I saw a recent interview with one of the producers of a live album - I think it was Exit Stage Left - talking about Alex and Geddy wanting to do overdubs - not so much for mistakes but to maximize the sonic quality. As he is discussing it the interviewer asks about the drum parts. Producer says - why would we overdub that - Neil never makes a mistake.

Many say he's the greatest drummer ever, but I respectfully disagree - I believe he was the greatest percussionist ever because he didn't limit himself to drums. I also find it a bit ironic that he was called the Professor when he considered himself a student.
This tune evokes alot of emotion, the whole Hemispheres album blows my mind. I've heard interviews with Geddy and he mentions how much of a challenge recording the whole album was because of the complexity of the music.
We lose many great musicians these days, who would have thought such stuff back then would still be played when we and they were in their 60's and 70's. You know you're a great band when the audience is singing along with an instrumental!
This 3 man Band is perfection not just there Albums but live, the technical part of this music is just GENIUS ! Unreal and beautiful, Best in the world. I could cry when I hear this break out by the electric guitar by Lifeson and Peart and Lee, all Genius
I just heard about Neil. I am so sad right now. I did not hear anything about him having cancer. He was such a great drummer. I saw Rush in the 80’s at The Forum in Inglewood Ca and they were awesome. Rest In Peace Neil :(
Remember that they wrote and recorded this incredible piece of music while they were in their early twenties . Extraordinary piece of music.
Goodbye Neil thanks for the great drumming !!!!
